  1. Fun action in what is really becoming an unheralded feud in time. This was great with the Blondes starting to feel like the Blondes with Austin doing his camera roll and them working really cohesive. Even with the limited time, this still told a good story and was a great way to progress the feud with the heels picking up a win. ***1/4
  2. Give it a try now Mick.
  3. Maybe Bret vs. Flair is my pick then as I can't believe people would prefer that 60 minute schtick fest between Owen vs. Bret over the Flair match.
  4. Did anyone watch the Korakuen shows? Will have some time the next week or so to cherry pick some highlights.
  5. I would switch News and Hughes but that card looks bad ass Steven to me.
  6. WM4 is a bloated mess that doesn't contain a match that would even sniff good. It also had numerous things surrounding it that was more historically significant. A show I loved a ton as a good for the Double Box VHS and "yellow" look that is pure torture to sit through today.
  7. I made the final format and edit today Matt and as always, top notch stuff. Even though it kind of brought into question that I fit more into the sports bucket side of things. On the flipside of that, I was a huge Hogan guy and disagree with some of the sentiment I have seen of people championing for Hogan because he was a cartoon character come to life. I liked TMNT well enough but that was about the extent of my superhero craze throughout my childhood. Maybe I am just an aberration. I also love how Lethal Lottery has brought so many people together that don't usually see eye to eye (Joe, Steven, and Matt).
  8. http://placetobenation.com/the-column-beyondwrestling-shared-universes-and-the-obsolete-joy-of-the-lethal-lottery/ Matt writes a love letter to being a kid in the 90's and ties it into a love for the Lethal Lottery.
  9. I specifically didn't put guilty pleasure in the title to avoid getting this response from you.
  10. I watched Starrcade 91 for the podcast this morning. Sort of a spoiler but I hated it a ton and hope to expound on why in detail. By contrast, Grimmas asked a year and a half ago to be on that show and I was listening to the latest Voices of Wrestling show and Joe was talking about how much he loved Starrcade 91 too. This begs the question, what shows or PPV's do you love or champion more than the reviews that are out for that show.
  11. Is that for 31 or 32 Steven?
  12. December turned out better for me than I thought going in based off Flair's promos and me being genuinely excited for the Goldberg vs. Bigelow altercations. The WWF stuff with Taker vs. Austin is some of the worst things they have every produced. Overall, the year as a whole definitely peaks in the summer and the first two months and last two months feel really weak by comparison.
  13. First glimpse of what I look forward to in the duality of Memphis. Lawler gives a great babyface promo up against Perfect where a feud seems to be budding. The PG-13 video was good fun.
  14. Really great match. This felt more grounded at times but the first twenty minutes was really solid table setting work with nasty looking submissions mixed up with strikes and hate. Misawa looks firmly like the guy now so him taking a loss feels like a big upset and a pivotal moment in Doc's career. This is essentially the end of the road for Kawada/Misawa and we have a new era beginning. (****1/4)
  15. A real love/hate match for me. I watched this a couple of months ago on PTB and thought it was great. Then, today I was left cold and thought the heat and first portion was really lacking until Perfect gets posted. I have done some spoiler-ish looks at Loss's rankings and list for 1993 as a whole so I know he has near 100 **** matches. Saying that, this would be a great candidate for #100 in any given year as its so inconsistent to me. I am glad Bartlett shut up and Bobby probably delivers his last classic WWF announcing job. 16. This Rumble match has ebbs and flows. I like the early portion with the legends of the 80's (Flair, Lawler, Hennig, Dibiase, Backlund) all out there. Then Giant Gonsales comes in and things grind to a halt. The finish here is good up to the nonsensical ending of Savage going for a pin. I dont understand why he coudn't have missed the big elbow, staggered up to his feet and then get thrust kicked out or something.
  17. I loved Hennan here just completely over the top. Luger looks proud of himself looking in the mirror and delivers a good debut promo. My favorite moment is when the curtain begins to lower and Hennan freaks out begging for more.
  18. Action was fine but that whole dress from Sherri was a disaster. Shawn is now getting wins with SCM and we get a pull apart backstage to continue the feud.
  19. Great stuff. Kobashi playing the ace role which is neat at this point in time. I was surprised to see him get beaten up a bit at the onset. I understand that this felt like Akiyama proving he belonged but I also felt it evolved into Kikuchi proving he may not be as weak as it might appear. Kikuchi got pretty much owned for most of the point in time he was in there. Ogawa went back of course to his heelish ways and gets booed for it. I especially loved the finish with Kikuchi hitting an amazing missile dropkick and following that up with a sequence to garner the win. I agree this match could be largely forgotten but it feels really relevant at hitting the strengths of all four guys involved and showing versatility for each at this point in time giving unconventional performances. 20. This fluctuated from a great brawl to a meandering spectical at times. In the end, it just falls short of being a great match but damn does it have some awesome visuals with the dolly, fireball, chair pieces, and Funk being a mad man with a great bladejob by both. Something definitely work seeking out. (***3/4)
  21. We have had some good heel vs. heel dynamics in 1993 and now the faces have a go at it. Really good stuff with everything progressively escalating. The finish made it seem frantic with them going off the air with Ross screaming and them sharing haymakers. (**1/2)
  22. Cactus and Barb still being together as faces doesn't sit right with me. The promo here was on the low end of the spectrum for Jack.
  23. The right type of extended squash. BW has been really good in 1993 so far and I am kind of wondering why they shoe horned him in with Muta at SUperbrawl as there feels like so much better stuff he could have done. Scorpio was giving just enough offense before BW puts him away with the Implant DDT which is a great finish. (**)
  24. One of my favorite Sting promos of all time honestly. He has some good points about keeping with his same strategy and so far he is 1-1 in that approach. At the end, he gets more excitable but doesn't turn to the goofy, nonsensical Sting that happens too much on promos. Really effective stuff and one of my favorite face paint set ups too with the light blue and white.
  25. Bullet vs. Cornette is a great running feud that is bleeding over into other promotions. Effective stuff.
