  1. Austin fanny pack and all comes stomping down. This is a short lived alternate shirt for Austin. Austin says DX should be happy all he did was stun Chyna and that he was in a good mood. Austin gives a threat to all of DX. Good basic promo here.
  2. First Cornette promo in a while that we have seen. He is distraught at the WWF fans for booing the great old school NWA talent he has brought to the WWF. These wrestlers will teach them what real wrestling is all about and the WWF fans will end up liking it. TOmmy Young will officiate the match involving the new MX tag match tonight.
  3. Sable is over huge and someone throws a rose in the ring for her. Mero is great as the ovrebearing boyfriend saying he is the one winning matches and Sable is trying to be the star. Clever moment where Mero chants Sable, Sable to get the crowd to do it. Mero says that Sable knows her place and does exactly what he says. She belongs to me. A bouquet of flowers arrives. Marc wants to know who is sending this to her. Sable refuses to answer and says it is nice to see someone thinking of her.
  4. A lawsuit is being threatened against Austin for his attack on Chyna at the PPV. This cuts into a video of Chyna. This was a really good video putting over Chyna as not being fearful of anyone in the WWF and how she has helped D-X's overall success. The way they phrase this, I guess DX couldn't be bothered to show up on Raw Saturday.
  5. Time for the big Savage vs. Sting main event. However, NWO's music fires up and out comes Hogan wit the NWO lackeys carrying what looks to be Savage even though he has a Sting mask on. Hogan says the match is cancelled and that Macho needs to learn that you are NWO 4 Life. Hogan calls Sting a coward and out he runs to clear house. The reaction is sad that Sting gets for taking out the NWO compared to what it was two months ago. Hogan then comes back in and takes over on Sting. Good lord. Luger rushes in for the save and it was clearly time to end the NWO angle.
  6. Goldberg is getting a roar and has pyro but still is not walking through it yet. Bobby is putting over him as DA MAN. I should mention here that THunder's set has changed from the cave setup. Finlay once again takes it right to Goldberg but is unsuccessful. A powerslam into a knee buster and a big swing from Finaly hanging onto the ropes are the hgihlights. Finlay locks on a sleeper for a second but Goldberg flips him over. Spear/Jackhammer and the streak continues. I'm enjoying Goldberg squashes immensely. (*)
  7. An interview with Chris Jericho is interrupted with an attack on Macho and Lex Luger. Hogan is at Thunder again and hits both guys with a chair. Tony builds up the fact that Luger and Macho were in the parking lot together.
  8. Al Snow is buried in the sand along with head. Not much of note is spoken here just more fuel to the fire of the interaction Snow has with head.
  9. First Arsion match ever and first time seeing these Fukuawa in action. Just discovered this is Candy's comeback match. Candy really pounces on the leg at the first hint of dominance. Some of the submissions were really tricked out and looked painful. I have a great appreciation of them keeping the pace and tone of most joshi matches we are familiar with in the 1990's while retaining more mat work and limb control. Fukawa tries multiple things but cant get anything substantial going whether she targets an arm, heel, or leg. We leave the mat at the 10 minute mark with a missile dropkick from Candy. Just as I thought Fukawa might fare better here, Candy hits a forearm smash and german for a nearfall. In an act of desperation, Fukawa looks for a cross armbreaker. A semi-botched lionsault has Fukawa's knee hitting Candy right in the face. Candy regains the advantage and takes back to the air mixing in power moves. The top rope running superplex was impressive. Fukawa hits another moonsault that hits the knees right on her face and again goes for that armbreaker. She takes to the air but gets powerbombed coming down. Candy's arm is injured even more as a result though and Fukawa pounces and finally gets the armbreaker clenched but the time limit expires. This was a really good match that set the table for what to expect from the promotion as a whole. (***1/2)
  10. Bret still has the terrible music. Bret calls out Hogan big time in this promo. He says Hogan has been running from him for years and we seem to set up Bret vs. Hogan in the not so distant future. Brian Adams debuted and Gene is shocked. Adams says he has a friend in the business that will watch his back. Adams says Hogan will have to go through him to get to Bret. Adams offers his hand leading into Adams clenching it and turning NWO. A big beatdown of most of the NWO B-team commences on Bret. Yeah, the NWO is getting way too saturated now. Hogan struts down and punches Hart. Flair comes in to make the save and him and Bret clean house. Really enjoyed that and it feels like a capper to the best rivalry of January as Flair can now respect Bret for beating him.
  11. It sure was good seeing Martel make his comeback. Booker tries to kick Saturn but injures his leg. Martel takes full advantage and locks on the crab to win the tv title.
  12. Latest Nitro Party winner. Why have an outside party in December? The Flair impersonator looks straight out of the Dude Love zucker film. Small tv too. Pretty lackluster looking party here.
  13. Public Enemy was still in WCW? Grunge puts Hall on a table but Dusty distracts him. Grunge then gets placed on the table and Nash gives Rocco Rock an dangerous powerbomb on top of Grunge that Rocco looked nervous on. Nash gets arrested screaming Attica on his way to the slammer.
  14. A graphic of Louis accompanied by the bell ringing is shown. Shame that his demons got the best of him as he is my age when he died.
  15. One of the more forgettable PPv's in the attitude era. They still are having a mystery man as JR and King set the table for the match. The video package still presents HBk as the head of the group but they have said that Shawn wont be in the match. This is a great video package. I don't understand why Savio just wasn't announced as the replacement for people that have already bought the PPV. Allowing the viewers mind to run wild about the mystery man just sets yourself up for disappointment even though Savio is a logical replacement from a storyline perspective. Ill say this in every thread but they really missed the boat on Owen as he is the #2 guy here behind Austin. Austin gets a hero reaction and this match features a lot of plunder shots and pairing off in the early going. Good garbage type stuff with stiff shots. Austin vs. HHH get linked together for a while and the heel side really could have utilized an anchor on their side. More big spots than can by mentioned but I enjoyed Gunn going through the table in the ring and Funk getting powerbombed onto two chairs. Match settles in a traditional tag formula with Funk being worked over. This match was a lot better as an out of control brawl as the heel squad struggles to keep things interesting with Funk. In fact, Cactus does the best stuff constantly interjecting himself to help his partner. Cactus gets tagged in and hits a flurry of offense but is taken over quickly as well. Violence at least is intensified with a ddt on the floor and steps being placed in his face. Crowd is just clamoring for Austin to get tagged in. Savio brings barbed wire into the ring as Funk tries to prevent it. The crowd groans when the barbed wire is around Cactus' face. Austin gets the hot tag and kills all the heels as Ross loses his shit on commentary. Stunner is given to Road Dogg and he takes the fall. Afterwards, stunner is given to Billy and HHH gets creamed into the table. Chyna vs. Austin is quite the showdown and Chyna gets a stunner to a big pop. Again, HHH is pretty protected not to take the fall. Fun scattered beginning, some dragging parts in the middle, and a satisfactory finish for Austin make this a good match overall on the road to Mania. (***1/4)
  16. Tough to hear. Raven is down in the corner and gives a plea to Mortis that he is being dressed in a stupid costume and that if he wants to join the flock, he has to be himself and unafraid to be laughed at. Also, DDP has to go down. Planting the seeds for the character change.
  17. Hogan is on Thunder a shit ton more than is presented in history at least in the early going. Bischoff says that the NWO is declaring war on everyone on WCW. This really is starting to feel like a NWO promo from 1996 and probably not what they should have been focused on this late in the game. Hogan calls Hart a coward and is the #1 man on the B's hit list. Macho gets called out as well and here he comes. Again, this stuff with Macho vs. Hogan in a vaccum is pretty good but the biggest rematch in the history of our sport is 10 days away and Hogan and Macho are arguing like a married couple on who is going to do the dishes. Hogan apologizes and sets up a tag match for later with Megapowers vs. Sting/Luger. Hogan wants Macho to apologize as well. He says I'm sorry and then attacks Bischoff and Hogan. Really looks like Macho in the NWO is no more.
  18. Sandman takes the match and says that ECW considers itself and the fans as a family. We learn Tommy's grandfather passed away and Tommy gets emotional as the crowd chants his name. A ten bell salute goes off and some idiots cant even shut up for that. Justin Credible interrupts the tribute and Tommy takes him down amateur style. Beulah slaps at Justin too. They were on a mission to get Credible over and used their old friend Tommy as a vehicle to allow that to happen.
  19. Taz thinks Bam Bam for turning his back on him. He then says he was a wimp for doing it with Taz having his back turned. Taz presents Bam Bam as a celebrity and superstar while Taz is an athlete trying to make his way in this business. Good underdog type stuff from Taz but that doesn't really align to how else he has been presented in ECW so far. Taz also has some words for Shane Douglas which only muddles the waters going into Living Dangerously..
  20. DX's music fires up. Shawn says that Austin has an ass kicking waiting for him. Shawn is waiting right their in the ring for Austin. Austin comes walking down and D-X and the NAO surround the ring as the crowd chants Austin in a fury. We get the distant sound of a chainsaw firing up and CHyna is able to reclaim the WWF championship. Cactus comes up from through the ring and Chainsaw does as well with Chainsaw in his hand. Owen comes from the crowd and we get our final sell of No Way Out with the NAO taking a little punishment and D-X bailing.
  21. We haven't seen evidence they can really bring the goods in the ring but the NAO are now firmly established as the top tag team and their antics get over. We get a blow by blow account from last week's dumpster incident including dummies coming out of the trash can dressed like Chainsaw and Cactus.
  22. The press conference takes place at the All Star Cafe in NYC. SHawn at least plays up his part and wears his suit and looks like a champ. Hey, guess what HHH is there to hang out too with a suit. Vince makes the announcement that Tyson will be the enforcer but tries to distant that role as far from a referee position as possible. Austin gives a great promo talking about how great HBK is as a wrestler but shitty he is as a person. HBK doesn't lay down for anybody. Tyson says that WWF is his life as of now. Tyson says he was attracted to the WWF through Bruno and the Valiant brothers. HBK jumps in and says he will try Tyson any day of the week. Austin and Tyson have some great chemistry but I am impressed with how dynamic they have made all three of these personalities feel. Great PR piece for the WWF and it feels far removed from where they were at heading into WM 13.
  23. Rock is in favor of genetic cloning but only if it is done selectively, very selectively. Rock has some bad words for the Evansville, Indiana crowd. Rock dubs himself the people's champ and again has a huge amount of confidence.
  24. Raucous ovation for Stone Cold. Austin wants to make it clear to HBK that he doesn't come out and rub a belt in his face. Austin pushes the PPV which has been an afterthought so far. They are still promoting Shawn in the 8 man tag. Austin wants HBK to bring his long haired ass to the ring. DX is shown backstage sitting down and Shawn is in a more jokey mood from the comfort of his locker room. Austin tells him if he wants his belt, to come and get it. Shawn digs in his bag and pulls out a foam belt. Wouldn't you know it, Austin has hijacked another belt in the WWF. Austin says he will be there all night and he will give the belt back to Shawn but he will have to ask him real nice. Good stuff again building up the Mania main event.
  25. Sunny acting like Marilyn singing to Blassie, She really needed something to do at this point. We get some clips of the fashion plate mixed in and learn he is turning 80.
