Dundee vs. Lawler had this quality in most of their high profile matches. Also think you can definitely chalk up Shawn vs. Bret from Survivor Series 1997 due to the uneasy nature that match had even before the screwjob. Austin vs. Hart in 1997

Eh I am really sick of this feud as no new ground has been broken for months. Rude again does decent promos but there is just not much of an emotional connection.
-
Ok promo by Rude. Warrior calls himself the Ultimate Animal and has the earring in and weird headband. Jesse and Vince end it with one more animal pun. Real good SNME overall.

Disagree with this. Starrcade 1988 match vs. Luger starts with Flair being real nonchalant. He isn't really jacking with the fans and not all riled and craze like you expect. It may be the most stoic I have ever seen Flair look from his peak. Then Luger whips his ass for around 20 minutes with Flair hardly getting in any offense. Flair is reeling and realizing that Luger will not back down and he has underestimated his opponent and Flair is unable to wear down Luger enough to where his power moves will not be effective. Then Luger makes a cardinal mistake and Flair is FUCKING VICIOUS going after it. His demeanor is completely different from the beginning because his strategy has changed mid match and he knows this is his one opening. Luger of course makes his comeback but Flair was able to do just enough damage for Luger's leg to collapse and Flair to gain the victory with his feet on the ropes. This match told a great complete story to me and foreshadowed some things from Flair's face run of 1989.

Just chiming in to say I really liked the Kubuki vs. Flair match a lot and had never seen it before. I also don't understand why Martel and Bret cant have a good match together.

You hit the nail right on the head Loss with the discovery of new things and also for me the reanalysis of wrestling past. I have come to grips with my wrestling fan arc that I don't have to see everything new right now and can just focus to watch the stuff I want to watch. I have touted the yearbooks constantly but will do so again because while not all inclusive, I think they allow the viewer a more than fair representative of what was going on in wrestling for that given year and as a result you can make conclusions from the footage.

After reading Loss' post, can I change my vote to Bret?

Alfred calling Gene Jim throughout the whole thing was awesome. The creativity to mix in the wrestlers here was just something you don't see nowadays. Really memorable segments.

I loved this match. The false finishes were plenty but made sense and were great drama. This was just a prolonged intricate sequence you were not used to at this time and Perfect did more nuttier bumps than usual to boot.

The Love Tap freakout was best part of match. Crush was complete ass and added nothing. What the Rockers did was good bumping off of him and they salvaged at least a decent match.

Don't remember getting anything and will confirm with my mom to make sure my letter was not sent and this wasn't a case of the time I sold lemonade down our deserted street and she put money in the box while I wasn't looking. Really awesome promo by Hogan and he is firing on all cylinders around this time.

Rude looked weak here and the training videos were for naught. However, when he was on offense, this match was really good and he had a way of making the Warrior look sympathetic while on offense.

Flair fairly easily wins for me. Bret's greatest matches are all timers but so all the nature boys. Everything else from longevity to more great matches with a wider variety of opponents swings in the favor of the Nature Boy. This thought is striking to me in this debate. I think the Flair vs. Luger Wrestlewar 1990 match is better than every match Bret Hart had except vs. Owen at Mania 10 and the two Stone Cold matches. I don't really know if it would be a top 20 Flair all time match for me and its certainly not usually talked about as one of his best all time matches.

Venture always fit the theme. I was also perplexed by showing Von Erich in the opening but the SNME song never gets old.

I like Caudle better than Parv but do greatly prefer the Tony/Ross pairing. Caudle with Dutch and in SMW in general I thought was very good.
-
Yeah I like Luger but he looked stupid here running around with torn clothing and a pipe.
-
I didn't get the Dustin connection either but it gets blown off pretty quickly and we get a typical good arn promo.
-
Yeah the clips from the match looked really good. I wanted to mention in last weeks segment comments but DWB has really grown just in the few weeks we have seen him. I really like this whole angle with everyone involved and the baseball bats as the ultimate weapon.

First WWF LOD performance and already calling out the Demos. I agreed that having them do segments like these did them no favors.

I loved how Slick just popped up out of nowhere and the beatdown on the Rockers was pretty good for what I assumed was a throwaway tag match to start Summerslam.
-
This feud started off pretty well with the workout vids and Rude/Hennan are such good personalities that they are outliving the expiration date but this promo seemed really tired and hit on themes we have heard way too much before.
-
I do want to see this match in full based on the clips because the finishing run was good with Misawa over and showing a lot of flash only to get caught with a deadly lariat to put him down.
