  2. Great reviews, both. I'm curious what you mean by "it's doubtful it can stand the test of time". It's already been 32 years since it happened and you're still calling it an above average match. How much more proving over time does it need to do?
  3. In one of the trailers, this is addressed. His idea was to have Bischoff kiss up to McMahon for a middle management job in WWE, basically abandoning the WCW wrestlers.
  4. What was the original post, anyway? Just out of curiosity.

  6. I found this to be an interesting comment in JR's latest blog: Wasn't this the company that fired a low level tag wrestler for sitting in the crowd at a TNA event? I don't have a problem with it either but I just thought it was an odd comment. I can't imagine WWE would be cool with Undertaker shown in Samoa Joe's corner on one of their broadcasts.
  7. I ended up getting khawk's Martel vs. Bockwinkel as well as Bix's set and another four disc Bockwinkel set because of how much I enjoyed him from the Memphis stuff. That interview before the $500/punch challenge is a blast. And his stuff with Heenan is classic. I do enjoy his matches as well. There's something very smooth and fluid about his style that I enjoy watching. I think his style and demeanor work better in his US matches than in the Japan ones.

  9. I've thought, for a little while now, that JTG has something. His movement is really fluid. I hate the gimmick but even if they altered it a little bit he might be someone the could do something with as a singles down the line.
  10. Yeah I thought his comeback of "I guess I'm not perfect like you" was kind of an odd statement for the babyface to make when Punk was making a point that he's never been in trouble with drugs or alcohol. Bruce Mitchell is convinced that they are doing it to make it seem like Hardy will be gone on another strike if he decides to not renew his contract. It's a compelling argument, with how they treat wrestlers who aren't indebted to them.
  11. Yeah, he came on the end of last season as a small time agent that Ari was friends with and brings to his agency. He's on as a series regular this year.
  12. Yeah he seems to have a really good perspective on things. Bill Eadie would be another one. He just seems like a good guy who just happened to be a star wrestler at one point in his life.
  13. I think that was Bad News Allen IIRC!!

  15. Agreed. Not only bad and corny but he would also severely cut the legs out from under the heels as well. As much as I loved the Pain and Passion book, I thought he was a little too kind to Whalen. Even with how fondly McKoy remembered him, Whalen still comes off as a guy who felt he was above wrestling and really undercut the promotion to suit his own beliefs at times.

  19. I think it's neither. It's most likely a fear of offending potential customers who don't believe what Joey Styles believes.

  22. One thing I always found weird regarding Wade's comments about Hardy's gut is that he and Bruce Mitchell often speak out against the cookie cutter WWE image. That back in the day, wrestlers were all shapes and sizes and guys like Lawler, Dusty, Foley, Murdoch..et al wouldn't even get a shot now. I agree with all of that. Wade will then go on to make comments about wrestlers getting guts or having a "doughy" physique. You can't have it both ways. I do like his "mandatory time off" soapbox. If he's going to be a "dog with a bone" about an issue, at least it's one that benefits people outside of himself.
  23. I actually thought Morrison looked really disconnected here and showed the least amount of personality and charisma of any segment he's been in. It was just really odd. His gaze seemed far off and it looked like he was reading off a cue card (ala Saturday Night Live) for most of it. I like Morrison and I think he does have some personality. It just doesn't work when they force the contrived comedy.
  24. Well, they weren't!!!! I hear you. It's addicting! The thing that helps is that there are SO many promos. I love that. I sometimes zone out when it's just all matches but I love the healthy dose of promos and angles because it really makes the matches stand out (and the context always makes them better)
