  1. I rolled my eyes when Shawn leaned on Vince's shoulder and left Vince to cut a promo on Cornette.
  2. A long stretch early in the Rumble sees no viable babyfaces in the ring and so the crowd turns Vader face because he's kicking everyone's ass. Owen and Shawn ignore each other despite coming in back to back on the heels of the concussion angle. They even team up to beat on Barry Horowitz. All the special attractions lasted 3 mins or less except Dory jr. who they wanted to use as a talent broker for All Japan guys. Ahmed and Razor should have been entered, if only to help the roster depth.
  3. When Jack Doan was powerbombed, my mouth fell open and I let out an audible "Holy Shit!" at its stiffness. Tremendous angle.
  4. Not sure how Hogan and Savage thought that career heel Woman would make for a good valet (kayfabe wise)
  5. I was bored out of my mind watching this. Stevie Ray's offense was insomnia inducing.
  6. Match wasn't great but Dustin's sexual spots made for a unique viewing. The Kid's interference is ignored by Gorilla Monsoon an hour after he over turned HHH's win over Duke Drose for cheating.
  7. http://culturecrossfire.com/wrestling/wrestle-war-90-wild-thing/#.U5RYHSgm-Sr Lex Luger tries to once again wrest the World title from Ric Flair, The Steiners compete against Arn and Ole Anderson, Norman the Lunatic clashes with Cactus Jack, The Rock and Roll Express face old rivals The Midnight Express, The Road Warriors go to war with the Sky Scrapers, and Brian Pillman and Tom Zenk defend the US tag titles against Michael Hayes and Jimmy Garvin Are these the CHV matches that played back to back and had almost all the same spots?
  8. http://culturecrossfire.com/wrestling/the-monday-night-wars-week-19-january-8th-1996/#.U43BpSgm-So Hogan and Savage battle the Horsemen, VADER battles Antonio Inoki, The WWF makes a hard push for the Royal Rumble, and the biggest star in WWF history makes his debut
  9. The Goldust interview with Vince earlier is quite the time capsule. Vince says most men are homophobic, GD talks about Vince's erection and Lawler uses the word "queer".
  10. http://culturecrossfire.com/wrestling/monday-night-wars-week-18-jan-1st-1996/#.U4cpRSgm-So We enter 1996 with Hogan vs. Flair, Savage vs. Arn Anderson, The RAW BOWL and a huge roster move for the WWF!
  11. The press "applauding" for Shawn made my eyes roll.
  12. I was amused by Vince's "We all know who this is" talk and yet not calling him Steve Austin.
  13. Eric taking tons of shots at the WWF in response to this skit a week earlier made me smile as I felt they really got under his skin. I didn't find these over done at the time, but I can see the argument now.
  14. http://culturecrossfire.com/wrestling/starrcade-89-future-shock/#.U4ThEigm-So It's a battle of attrition as the NWA runs single and tag team round robin tournaments to determine who WCW's true Iron Men are. Participating is Sting, Muta, Luger, Flair, The Road Warriors, DOOM, The Samoans and The Steiner Brothers!
  15. If Bischoff is going to take pot shots every week, why not fire back? Otherwise your just the nerd being bullied forever.
  16. After a month or so of bad RAWs this was a heck of little match to get 1996 kicked off. The puns were rough to listen to. Then we get more from Doc during a "Halftime" report.
  17. Watching Nitro week by week now makes the Hogan antics to stay over more and more unbearable. Not sure how/why I didn't develop more apathy for him at the time.
  18. http://culturecrossfire.com/wrestling/starrcade-95-wcw-vs-new-japan/#.U34q5Cgm-So The Best of New Japan faces off with the Big Boys of WCW plus Luger vs. Flair vs, Sting for the right to face Macho Man
  19. I found the booking to be a bit odd as New Japan headliner Chono is beaten (by submission no less) in a matter of minutes and then Mr, Saito gets a protective DQ loss. Saito and Badd was much better than I was expecting.
  20. Flair's gusher was so late in the match and ultimately pointless. I figured Flair just wanted to look dramatic while winning the title.
  21. Most of the match felt like a "Best of" tribute to other matches these guys had in the past. Enjoyable but ultimately skipable. I loved the ending sequence though.
  22. I found this to be the best match of the card. Eddy was just on fire since he came in a few short months ago.
  23. http://culturecrossfire.com/wrestling/clash-of-the-champions-9-new-york-knock-out/#.U3tWwSj4w1I Funk and Flair settle the score, The Road Warriors collide with The Freebirds, The Steiners battle the massive Sky Scrapers, The Dynamic Duds (spelling intentional) compete with the Midnight Express for Jim Cornette's affection and Lex Luger tries to make Flyin' Brian crash land.
  24. http://culturecrossfire.com/wrestling/the-monday-night-wars-weeks-16-and-17-december-18th-and-25th-1995/#.U3TAmij4w1I A 2 week XMAS Monday night wars special!! Razor battles Yokozuna, Eddy faces Flair, Savage clashes with the Giant, and then Savage and Flair begin the 3rd chapter in their feud!!
