  1. Hogan explained in the Survivor Series 87 promos that he needed a snake in the grass or somesuch to teach his team the ways of evil, so he used Orndorff as that man. He didn't forgive him. culturecrossfire.com/wrestling/clash-of-the-champions-19-the-nwa-tag-team-title-tournament/#.VNDUqi6oBxU WCW hosts the NWA tag title tourney as The Steiners clash with Dr. Death and Terry Gordy, Barry Windham and Dustin Rhodes battle Arn Anderson and Bobby Eaton, Dean Malenko debuts, Justin Liger teams with rival Brian Pillman and top teams from Mexico and Japan try their luck against some of WCW's best! http://culturecrossfire.com/wrestling/wcw-great-american-bash-92/#.VNb54C6oBxV Sting battles Vader in their first PPV singles encounter with the World title hanging in the balance. Plus the NWA Tag Title Tournament continues as Barry Windham and Dustin Rhodes battle Steve Austin and Rick Rude, Ricky Steamboat and Nikita Koloff attempt to clip the wings of Brian Pillman and Jushin Liger, and Shinya Hashimoto and Hiroshi Hase clash with the Freebirds with Terry Gordy and Dr. Death awaiting the survivors for a night of attrition with gold on the line!!
  2. I think Doc calls the Steiners "queers" in the pre-match promo. Interesting to see the heels portrayed as the romping stomping world beaters who go out of the way to fight the best team in the world.
  3. Was the finish botched? I felt they may have been trying to copy Bret/Piper from a few weeks earlier but blew it. Ventura put over Rude's bad ribs as a quick cover story. Fabulous match!
  4. Tremendous match that flew by. I loved the ref's freak out when Vader hit the power bomb. The crowd was half shocked/half enthused to see a title change.
  5. Long for the sake of being long. Card was paced poorly and would have improved if the quarterfinals had been done on TV prior to the PPV so some other shorter matches could be worked in.
  6. http://culturecrossfire.com/wrestling/kayfabe-lies-and-alibis-the-honky-tonk-man-youshoot/#.VM033y6oBxU Honky Tonk Man discusses refusing to lose the IC title to Macho Man, bestiality, doing drugs, legit tough guys, nasty ribs, ring rats and much more!
  7. http://culturecrossfire.com/wrestling/wcw-beach-blast-92-2/#.VMeari6oBxU Bill Watts' tenure in WCW begins with a card full of WRASSLIN' - Rick Rude and Ricky Steamboat battle in a 30 minute Iron Man match, The Steiner Bros engage in a war of attrition with Terry Gordy and Dr. Death, Sting and Cactus Jack collide in a Falls Count Anywhere match that has obtained legendary status, The Dangerous Alliance continue their war against Nikita Koloff, Dustin Rhodes and Barry Windham -plus Ron Simmons, Brian Pillman and Greg Valentine are in action on the undercard!!!
  8. http://culturecrossfire.com/wrestling/wcw-wrestle-war-92/#.VMSvli6oBxU The best War Games ever sees Sting, Nikita Koloff, Ricky Steamboat, Dustin Rhodes and Barry Windham battle Rick Rude, Larry Zybysko, Bobby Eaton, Arn Anderson and Steve Austin. The undercard sees an incredible Steiner Bros vs. Fujinami and Iizuka war of attrition and Tom Zenk vs. Brian Pillman nearly steal the show in a battle of friendly fire. The rest with the Freebirds, Mr. Hughes, The Super Invader and others is largely BAD, BAD crap.
  9. http://culturecrossfire.com/wrestling/kayfabe-lies-and-alibis-q-and-a-with-the-four-horsemen/#.VME4vC6oBxV Ole Anderson, Tully Blanchard and JJ Dillon discuss the formation of the group, their best angles, their favorite opponents, Dusty's booking, who should have been a member and much more!!!
  10. http://culturecrossfire.com/wrestling/kayfabe-lies-and-alibis-the-tully-blanchard-and-baby-doll-reunion/#.VLnCl3uoBxU Tully and Baby Doll cover growing up in the business, why Baby Doll was picked lto be Tully's valet, fans attacking the heels, Dusty's jealousy, the big feuds, JCP's downfall, life after wrestling and much more!
  11. http://culturecrossfire.com/wrestling/wcw-superbrawl-ii/#.VLaat3vic4J One of WCW's finest PPV efforts sees a war of attrition between Ricky Steamboat and Rick Rude, The Steiners taking to Arn Anderson and Bobby Eaton to the limit for over 20 mins, Barry Windham teams with Dustin Rhodes to try and avenge Larry Zybysko's breaking Windham's hand - Larry takes Steve Austin as his partner, Justin Liger takes to the air against Flyin' Bryan and Sting clashes with his former best friend Lex Luger for the right to be called World Champion!
  12. http://culturecrossfire.com/wrestling/kayfabe-lies-and-alibis-dr-d-david-schultz-shoot-interview/#.VK_uNXvic4I David Schultz covers kicking the a lot of people's butts - fans, wrestlers and criminals alike! Plus Jerry Lawler being a wimp, slapping 20/20's John Stossel, Hogan and Heenan being stooges, being blackballed from wrestling and much much more! Several promos are also linked that wouldn't even come close to making TV in this day and age.
  13. http://culturecrossfire.com/wrestling/kayfabe-lies-and-alibis-the-mid-south-wrestling-summit/#.VKVxsHvic4I Dr Death Steve Williams, Brad Armstrong, Skandor Akbar, Tim Horner and Bill Dundee come together to discuss the glory days of the Mid-South/UWF!! 14. http://culturecrossfire.com/wrestling/when-sit-got-real-incidents-of-pro-wrestling-becoming-a-shoot-vol-4/#.VKK0gv8JDhs Part four of my look back at shoots in pro wrestling includes Lou Thesz running afoul of another Japanese star, John Tenta collides with Koji Kitao, Dr. Death breaking noses, Trevor Berbick trying to hang with Takada, Fit Finlay tussling with fans, and as an added bonus I'll touch on a pair of UFC fights that were "faked" and more!
  15. No idea if true or not, but the RSPW boards say Ventura was only signed for the Superbrawl show at this point.
  16. WCW TV was building up a Zenk/Pillman vs. Pistols match and RSPW says this was suppose to be US Patriots/Pillman vs. Pistols/Diamond Studd, not sure what happened here. Did The Taylor Made Man gimmick get any vignettes?
  17. http://culturecrossfire.com/wrestling/wcw-clash-of-the-champions-18-the-dangerous-alliance-rises/#.VJ4wTv8JDhu A mixed bag of a card features such great matches like Sting and Ricky Steamboat vs. Rick Rude and Steve Austin, Six-man action with Dustin Rhodes, Barry Windham, and Ron Simmons vs. Larry Zybysko, Arn Anderson and Bobby Eaton, The Steiners vs. VADER and Mr, Hughes, and an entertaining Van Hammer/Cactus Jack Falls count anywhere brawl. A liberal dose of Wrestlecrap sees PN News and Vinnie Vegas in action and the Freebirds participate in a ridiculous song and dance routine. All in all an entertaining two hour broadcast!
  18. http://culturecrossfire.com/wrestling/kayfabe-lies-and-alibis-bobby-heenan-and-jim-cornette-fanfest-q-and-a/ Bobby Heenan and Jim Cornette cover having sex with Vince McMahon, Corny's temper, their regrets, MULKEYMANIA, the best matches they've witnessed, Heenan's Rumble 92 commentary, best friends in the biz and much more!

  20. http://culturecrossfire.com/wrestling/1991-starrcade-battle-bowl/#.VJVrYP8w4A A bizarre night of action as 40 men are forced to team up with random partners to try and qualify for the "Battle Bowl". This leads to strange pairings such as Sting teaming with Abby the Butcher, The Freebirds colliding, Justin Liger trying to make rookie DDP look good and other such oddities. A fun card, but why ruin the Starrcade brand with the gimmick?
  21. http://culturecrossfire.com/wrestling/when-s-got-real-incidents-of-pro-wrestling-becoming-shoots-vol-3/#.VIvjknsYEmw Part 3 covers Akira Maeda's run ins with Tiger Mask, Riki Choshu and Andre the Giant, plus Adrian Adonis tussles with a fan and Lex Luger crosses paths with Bruiser Brody!!!
