Is TNA the worst wrestling promotion in history?
Strummer replied to Loss's topic in Megathread archive
Maria and Mike Bennett have also left the company -
opening promo between Cena and Miz was great and they set up the mixed tag match at mania as well. I'm sure a lot won't like the closing angle was it was good old fashioned pro wrestling cheeseball goodness. and they planted the seeds for Shane v AJ

Looking at it objectively Hunter had the best promo on the show. It was great. He's had two money promos since returning. The program is cold but can't say it's his fault

Sasha just mentioned Matt Hardy on twitter. INTRIGUE -
[1999-01-24-WWF-Royal Rumble] Sable vs Luna (Strap)
Strummer replied to cactus's topic in January 1999
i can remember hearing Cornette saying that Sable refused to take any whip shots from the strap so Luna had to tie up the strap and "hit" her in the back repeatedly -
so a Dusty finish where we thought La La Land went over but turns out that we have a reverse decision by Warren Beatty giving the W to Moonlight OR a mindless Vince Russo swerve that will build to nothing and just done to pop a rating on a stale show? Discuss

I haven't watched TNA in ages so I really have no idea what's going on but Dave called the wedding last night one of the best segments of that type in years. That's high praise as Dave usually doesn't enjoy over the top angles like that -
Yeah I pretty much agree with all those sentiments. Fuji had credibility with me as a kid because he was a physical threat. He had the cane and the salt. He was pretty vicious. I probably bought him as a threat more than Heenan or any manager in wwf at the time. Heenan and Hart were far more talented but Fuji just seemed so damn mean

Yep the finish to the battle royal was botched. AJ clearly hit first. They showed no replays. At least the crowd was hot for Harper

Honestly at this point Braun is coming off as a bigger star than Reigns (nothing against Reigns) and yeah I'd like to see him be the one to knock off Brock. A long shot that I also wouldn't mind would be Owens at this point

also this happened after the show https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ya-FT-sVckQ

I'm digging serious heel Kevin Owens

Yeah they were once maybe the most over act on the show and now they have no clear direction or program for mania, if they shoot a major angle with them great but if it's just product placement and promotional comedy I don't see how it's a big deal for them. I mean other than a nice payoff obviously

announced today that the New Day will "host" wrestlemania this year. Well that sounds kinda lame for them

I think Loss was specifically talking about the company feeding Dave info about Rollin's lack of ratings production or not selling merch, not necessarily message boards and social media criticizing him. If you'll recall when the Bryan fiasco went down in early 2014 the company told Dave they couldn't push him because his merch wasn't selling well and his segments weren't drawing ratings. Yet nothing of the same with Rollins or Reigns I suppose. Rollins got plenty of criticism online for his 2015 run but WWE internally was light on criticism of him and to be fair to Seth his reign was booked horribly with being subservient to Hunter and Stephanie and losing a ton in non title matches. Remember it was supposed to be heroic babyface Roman in that spot getting the big push

also (as Dave has noted) the female audience as a whole has been leaving Raw in droves the last while so it can't just be Bayley for one week on top. Dave and Bryan have been trying to figure out why females have been tuning out and I think they are just mindlessly spitballing on some of their guesses
-
Dave mentioned on twitter about Linda McMahon making a phone call that saved the company. Unless I'm missing something obvious what was he referring to?
-
The Owens/Jericho angle was incredible. I think their match may have the most heat out of any at mania. I know a lot of people have been down on Jericho during this run but the guy just knows how to get stuff over. Just an awesome, awesome segment. People will be talking about it for a long time And there is always the possibility Stephanie reverses the decision in the main event next week because of Sasha's interference. If they are going the Bryan route with Bayley I could def. see that happening
-
Well it took nearly 4 years but Bray finally got to pin the top guys of the promotion. Up to this point his biggest pinfall victory in a big match was probably against Bryan over 3 years ago. Only thing left really on SD is to set up Shane v AJ I assume they will have a multi person IC title match and same for the women's title

Nash was phenomenal in the early NWO days. He probably doesn't get enough credit. And he's one of the few wrestlers who legit can make me laugh

pretty sure that's a Scott Keith bullshit rumor

actually first name to come to mind was Lanny Poffo. Was too small to get a push in the 80s but would fit more in today where fans want more athleticism and don't mind smaller guys getting featured

WWE and the Rock's production company are partnering to make a movie about Paige's (and her family's) life story

Dave says that WWE is being secretive about Rollin's condition. That usually is not good news. Just me but the sound of his voice made it seem that the chances of Rollins working the show are not good at least compared to how he sounded last Weds/Thurs when everything went down
-
Dave also implied on twitter that the endless Emmalina promos and teasers is some sort of rib. I guess on her and the viewing audience?
