  1. JDW referenced Can-Am Express vs Kawada & Kikuchi from February in another thread. I think it's a neat match that would be a MOTYC if it happened in the US, and it makes the May tag with Kobashi seem less like "oh hey there's these guys called the Can-Am Express, you should care about them". In the end it's marginal but I figure it's worth throwing out there.
  2. Freshman in high school today probably don't know Bo.
  3. It works to build Akiyama and the TC match *and* is really good by itself. Everything I love about AJ '90s in a nutshell.
  4. Da-ve, GET THE TABLES. (sorry)
  5. Wasn't it just breaking at the very end?
  6. Are you sure about that date? Tenryu didn't meet with NJPW's front office until late August / early September to get the working deal together. I think the feud started with Koshinaka & Kimura working the 9/15 WAR show, underneath Flair-Tenryu. If it hasn't been mentioned, the Dojo Sign Feud in New Japan is pretty interesting/fun, and pretty much the start of Koshinaka's push as a heavyweight after several years of being lost after leaving the juniors. John I mistook a July '93 match for July '92. Problem solved!
  7. I'm looking all over for the 'Tenryu in New Japan' July '92 tag, other than a busticated version on the NJ Classics set from Baker. Not on Lynch's Japan TV, not on Alfredo's, so where the heck is it?
  8. Tenryu's selling for Aoyagi was really good considering how big a jobber Aoyagi was by this point. I mean he put over Liger in a 'different style fight', so of course he had zero chance here. Unfortunately for a match with two guys blasting each other with strikes we get very weak audio because it's handheld.
  9. Loss: are you guys feeling confident about the amount of material? Think you might want more?
  10. I remember that being shown on sports highlight segments at the time because of how smooth and effortless it looked.
  11. Ultimately I don't think this is a standout match, like Loss said. I'd say the Misawa/Akiyama vs Kawada/Fuchi match from later in the tour is just as good of a Misawa/Kawada lead-in and it's tighter overall. The 6-man has very middling performances from Kobashi and Taue. This isn't a top 5 6-man for All Japan in the '90s and it might not even be the best 6-man of '93.
  12. Certainly that Choshu match stands out. By 'Technician' I mean more a Joe Malenko or Kido, someone who is overwhelmingly matwork. Guys like Takada and Maeda have the striking element.
  13. Fujiwara vs Technician tends to be exhibition-y. It's NOT the sort of matchup that makes him great.
  14. That troll at Cageside Seats is a piece of work. But thankfully he's more than made up for by the SOLIDNESS of the article.
  15. Heyman turned on him in late '02, in favor of Big Show. Lesnar was face through WM19, then they turned him back to heel during the extended feud with Angle, as Brock joined up with Vince.
  16. Via. 411: "WWE has hired Tom Cassielo, winner of several Daytime Emmys for his writing on As The World Turns, for their creative team. He has spent the last 10 years working on soap operas like As the World Turns, One Life to Live, and The Young and the Restless."

  18. That was right when NBC and WWF signed up for Saturday Night's Main Event.
  19. Could you expand on this?
