  2. We were all assholes for resenting Xavier so much in 2002. We can admit that now as we show disdain for the younger generations.
  3. That's why the Insane Clown Posse thing is brilliant.
  4. Do millennials hate Hogan for the whole ALLEGED> racism thing?
  5. That's brilliant. ICP/Amell/Bullet Club/Lucha supercard. If they loop in Corgan and have the NWA champ defend with weeks and weeks of youtube build up, all the better.
  6. Part of me thinks the key to all of this might be Amell. Hes got a way bigger following than the Bullet Club. Molly style.
  7. This isn't a promotion though; it's Woodstock 1999.
  8. I didn't NECESSARILY say it as a "bad" thing. It's working people. This time, instead of getting them to pay to see the local hero (Let's say David Von Erich) finally defeat the shifty, shady champion (Let's go with Harley Race), you're having them pay to see the modern day heroes of Hot Topic, Trolling, and Triforces on Boots (Who are just like them!) defeat the evil of Dave Meltzer's old man doubts and Vince McMahon's Roman Reigns pushing out-of-touchnness. It's wrestling. I mean, I guess?
  9. And I said that'd be 60% of the fight, so those numbers make me think 6000 is possible without Daniel Bryan!
  10. I think 60% of this fight is conning a bunch of people on the internet into thinking that they'd be accomplishing something and making a grand statement and would be part of history if they travel to the show. It's not about the card. It's not about what NJPW talent they get. It's about working a bunch of young rubes that feel entitled to be part of the show.
  11. I regret not having Henry higher in my GWE list from last year but then I would have had to put Michaels higher too to make the joke work.
  12. How tragic was Jeff waxing poetic about how the 2017 crowd would just like him to please stop trying to get them angry so that they can watch the match, chant about it in peace, and give it star ratings.
  13. I think there's one potential run in them still, paired again with Styles or with Balor or both.
  14. Hey, I saw El Santo in the actual movie.
  15. Im sure Cena is a bigger name in West Newbury, MA though.
  16. My point was more that he was so prominently featured on a trailer that so many people are going to see this weekend. It was a recognition argument more than a drawing one.
  17. I actually think itll do lukewarm business and make a small profit. I dont think Cenas particularly strong in what Ive heard so far either, but it was an actual trailer and not part of Bob Backlund inductor Marias pre-trailers thing so it was striking for this discussion.
  18. I just got back from taking my kid to see Coco today. There was a trailer which had John Cena on screen as himself talking about how he related to Ferdinand with bits of animation interspersed. The whole thing hinged in people knowing who Cena was. Millions of people will likely see this trailer this weekend.
  19. Hahaha get real, Cena is not in McGregor's league. Conor is not Ronda as he never turns down press or hides in isolation win or lose. He always hypes his projects and promotions and is damn good as it. Conor will go down as one of the greatest stars UFC and the MMA world has ever produced. And the greatest star that UFC and the MMA world has ever produced is still going to pale to the guy who's billed near the top in the Bumblebee movie next year. You have to be in a pretty opaque bubble not to get that.
  20. Ah, I usually do that every year so I can dl the newsletters in year I missed (and the archive ones). Thanks for the reminder.

  22. Poor Yokozuna
  23. You can find plenty of matches where Larry does stall, but it's sort of a potential/kinetic energy conversion thing. He uses it to build up and build up and build up the heat and then unleash it. When he ends up going, he can to at a frenetic pace. You see a little less of that in 91 even though he keeps stalling, which is where I think a lot of people saw him the most. I still feel that the issue isn't necessary that Larry stalled (even though there are many matches where he DOESN'T) but that people spent twenty-five+ years not actually valuing how awesome stalling can be.
  24. Im still thinking Enzo is the way to go.
