  1. Sean Waltman's Youshoot is fantastic. Even better, as you'd expect it to consist of the usual moronic video submissions by people who think they are funnier than they are, or people trying to get their 'gimmick' over. I also enjoyed the Adrian Street one, although that was more down to Street and less due to Feinstein (who had clearly done little research, and predictably when talking about UK guys, only asked him about those who had made a name in the US or Japan). I picked up a copy of the Mike McGuirk one last week along with the Sean Morley Timeline (which I didn't care for - and I tend to find the releases from recent years such as the Morley and Lisa Moretti as less interesting/appealing to me), so may give that a watch in a few days.
  2. It's still limping along, but hasn't really been active in several years now.
  3. Just out of interest, how much European footage have you watched? Have you seen much Steve Grey, Clive Myers, Mike Jordan, Johnny Kidd? or how about the guys who there doesn't appear to be that much footage of such as Jon Cortez, Alan Sarjeant, Ken Joyce etc?
  4. From his posts here and on DVDVR, I'd be amazed if the answer was anything other than no.
  5. I've run this past Loss who has given me the OK to post this. I know there are some people on here who are also members of beejmi's board so they will be fully aware of this, but for those who aren't here goes. Basically, Jason Campbell has slowly been scanning and uploading a ton of old newsletters from the 60s up to the 90s. He has a thread over on beejmi's board which he updates saying when he has scanned new stuff and what he has added. This will have been a very lengthy and tiresome process, and one which he has been doing FOR FREE, and not asking anyone a cent for. I have seen on a couple of boards now that people are starting to sell Jason's scans, which I think is pretty outrageous seeing that he has been doing this gratis and everything he has scanned is already online. So, before anyone on here gets caught out and forks out money for this stuff, here is the link to the google docs site that Jason has been uploading everything to https://docs.google.com/folder/d/0Bwz_9MY5f...NWIw/edit?pli=1 There is way too much to list but includes the likes of Burt Ray's Mat Mania, Bob Closson & Jay Steele's Mat Results, a load of old Terry Robert Justice newsletters, misc results sheets and a ton more.
  6. Pop of the night and overness with the crowd as important as wrestling ability? When building a HoF case. Seriously? Sure, if that overness with the crowd translates into an increase and upturn in business, but on its own, no not at all.
  7. In the Observer's obituary of Haystacks, Meltzer writes that those in power at the time were led to believe that he was some Vader-like super heavyweight worker, though from the moment that he did his first 'waddle in' that was clearly not the case and bar a few squashes and the match with the Giant, that was him done for. I have no idea where they got this belief from, unless someone like Regal was pulling a rib on them. They never aired. Missy put them on her pay site at one point but WWE might have gotten them pulled. Some have shown up on Dailymotion and maybe YouTube. Try using alternate characters like $ signs for the S-es. EDIT: Here's one http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xamv1t_mi...vage_shortfilms Someone did download all of the sections and put them onto disc before they were pulled, and all are out there in the Trading World (I got them from a guy over here in the UK).
  8. I don't know about that, I've just watched WWF Superstars from 1991 and felt the Warrior was awful; yes, sometimes he can get the point across if you listen and concentrate carefully, but generally I found that he rambled, was at times incoherent and additionally made no sense, oh, and I hated that snort he did at the end of his promos. Jake Roberts on the other hand is the best promo in the company that year, especially from the moment the heel turn is signalled.
  9. I've just watched the 1991 Superstars set and in the era where it was pretty much squash followed by squash, Nord was one of the guys who I enjoyed watching the most in this format, and for a big guy he moves really well. Fuji added absolutely nothing to the Berzerker mind. Nord showed up in late 97 and had a sizable winning streak on the B shows. They did a Worldwide match with him vs. Goldberg where they were hyping both guys as having big winning streaks. I'd be surprised if Nord's winning streak actually hit a dozen (and it was solely against your Julio Sanchez, Lizmark Jr. types), and yeah, it ended at the April Orlando Tapings in a match with Goldberg.

  11. I'll add that Jake Roberts is tremendous in everything that I have seen in his leading up to/and following his heel turn. Warrior's acting is really hokey at and times the skits seem campy, but Jake is superb throughout; believable, intense and great delivery. On the 7/20 show there is a Vince McMahon interview that seems really out of place, with him saying that they have the most comprehensive drug testing, education and rehabilitation program in all of sports, and this program will now be extended to test for anabolic steroids, and when you see this (WWF) sign, you can be assured of drug free Sports Entertainment! There are also the Heenan interviews (which I have just got to in my viewing, transpires I was missing four shows which I had to get in, plus the Savage/Liz wedding is getting pushed ridiculously to the point where it curtailed my viewing) where he is holding the NWA belt, and comparing 'Ice Cream to Horse Manure'. Skinner's vignettes are the best of the year, whilst Sid is getting the mega build up (with both heels and faces talking about him prior to his debut). Hopefully I'll get this finished in around a week, then I'll just have to type everything up.
  12. But they didn't go to the WWF because their company closed though. I don't agree with Shane Helms at all. The guy ended up having a nigh on nine year run with the WWE and with the exception of Chavo, out of the initial 24 contracts that the WWF picked up, he had the longest tenure of anyone. Nine years of regular, solid income, can't say he did too bad out of WCW closing. Corino suffered in more ways than one. He either had, or was scheduled to, sign with WCW (after Dusty pushed for him) right before the company closed (I've seen his shoot interview, but forget the specifics). When WWF purchased the company, he was no longer required. He's had a decent run on the Indys and I am guessing made a good living, but it would have been no where near the same had WCW not died. I've seen a few of the younger wrestlers mentioned, but Kid Romeo and Reno (Rick Cornell) pretty much vanished into obscurity. Picked up by the WWF, then sent to HWA, I think they had a couple of dark matches each, released, and not heard from again.
  13. He even had a stint over here in the UK wrestling as the Mississippi Mauler.
  14. I have had a bit of a resurgence in watching wrestling and am half way through the 1991 Superstars set and will post a full list of things that may be of interest when I have finished. Whilst the shows are predominantly squashes, there is a really good Rockers vs Nasty Boys TV match (thought it has a cheap and shitty finish) and also a Roddy Piper vs Rick Martel match. Outside of that it is predominantly interviews and angles such as the Warrior getting rid of Brother Love, an episode of the Funeral Parlour where the Undertaker locks the Warrior in his custom built casket and agents Lanza, Garea and Goulet try to get the casket open as the Warrior 'struggles for air', Earthquake 'killing' Damian, vignettes for the Dragon (not very long and all the same) and IRS (boring), the introduction of Col. Mustafa, some funny skits of the managers trying to get Andre into their stable and some pretty heated Slaughter segments.

That exists as a handheld. The whole show, or just that match? Haven't watched it in years, but pretty sure it's the whole card. It is the only one of the pre-PPV King of the Rings that is in circulation as a handheld.
  16. I thought it only aired on one of the intro/highlight packages but it was never focused on a la the food platter and sushi incidents? I got the impression that if you didn't know it had happened you wouldn't have picked up on it and I only spotted it because Meltzer wrote about said incident being edited out. Never knew Filthy Tom was on DVDVR at some point.
  17. Weren't they working in the AWA at the same time as they were in the NWA as the Minnesota Wrecking Crew II?
  18. I haven't read it in quite a while, but Dave's obituary on Barnett was both fascinating and fantastic.
  19. Can't imagine it reflect's poorly on UFC. Piss, shit and jizz all in season 8 of TUF... with UFC *not* editing any of it out. John Although the footage of the fighters downing shots of piss was too much for them and they edited that out of the show.
  20. Search out the 1980 Memphis TV set; the guy pretty much carried the territory in the wake of Lawler getting injured and being out most of the year. So much of the stuff would revolve around him.
  21. Personally I like Schiavello, but he is definately an acquired taste, and perhaps the most 'marmite' announcer currently out there.
  22. What has someone's 'Charisma' got to do with it when it comes to determining whether someone should be in the Hall of Fame? Charisma is part of the overall package (be it a strong or weak point) in pretty much everyone associated with pro wrestling, is it not? IMO it definitely has it's place when talking about someone's credentials in a discussion like this. Whilst Charisma is absolutely part of the overall package associated with pro wrestling, I personally don't see the relevance it has to someone being in the Hall of Fame or not. With say Benoit, would the fact that he had zero charisma have been held against him? Would that have even been bought up? With Jericho who went in fairly recently would his charisma have been mentioned? How about Steve Williams who went in last year? The only guy who I could see it as having been discussed would be Rock. Just my opinion mind.
