    RAW 1000

That whole segment made me think of this article. Skip to the part on "Dads".

    RAW 1000

That's a really good point. In essence, hasn't all wrestling television always been about promotion? Get people to the shows, get them to buy the ppv, etc. Now social media and toys and t-shirts are the big push. Not saying that I really enjoy the shows as much. But I'd say they're achieving what I'd guess Vince's goal is. Anyway, I really dug the big angle at the end. The rest of the show was fun enough. I think I have such low expectations for what WWE puts out now, that as long as I'm not completely infuriated at the stupidity of what I'm seeing, then I'm at least satisfied. Heel Punk against the Rock is going to be interesting for sure.
  3. Me too! Probably a lot more relevant to each other...especially when Jamie Dundee's involved.
  4. Can't do hungover wrestling. I feel like I'm taking every bump.
  5. My roommates and I used to play the crap out of WCW/NWO Revenge for Nintendo 64 while drinking. I think it was that game that had a battle royal feature where you could come back as a new character when you were eliminated. It was great when you'd get someone shitty as a replacement. I remember some girlfriends getting really pissed at our marathon sessions. My sophomore year, we went on an all-day bender on St. Patty's day that ended with us playing that game. We lived in a two-level apartment that had a spiral staircase up to the second floor. I decided to drop a big elbow from the top onto my roommate on the couch. We were both ok. The couch wasn't. Come to think of it, we never watched much wrestling when drunk. We usually ended up wrestling ourselves. I had a buddy that was a big, 300 pound dude. He could throw some wicked powerbombs into the couch. It's amazing no one ended up seriously injured.

  7. I'm still waiting for someone to bust out the flying butt pliers!
  8. Oh, good! Been waiting a while to hear this.
  9. I thought Lawler said something to the effect of, "It was YOU doing this stuff the whole time!?!?!" I might be wrong, though. I wasn't paying that much attention.
  10. The GM needs to go. If you are starting a new wrestling promotion, and you're telling people you're going to do something different, be an alternative, etc, you'd better not have a goddamn authority figure.
  11. Seems like Hornswaggle is their go-to for tying up mystery storylines.
  12. I think someone else nailed it earlier in the thread. If you want to watch MMA, it's not really a problem finding it. It's everywhere right now. If you're tuning in to ROH, you probably want to watch pro wrestling.

  17. I was born before Facebook and anything else invented after 1978. Pretty cool, huh?
  18. The Pepsi one was obviously a dig at Punk, right?
  19. Anyone catch this week's Raw Fact (or whatever it's called) stating that Raw debuted in 1993. That's 11 years before Facebook was even invented! Why couldn't have Zuckerberg invented it when he was nine? What a dick.
  20. It's been Kenny Bolin and Dean Hill for a while. Gilbert Corsey (who's a hell of a great guy!) is their third guy now.

  22. Thanks, Gordi. I would love to see a thread devoted to 100 crotches better than Kurt Angle's and Shawn Michaels' crotches. Maybe not, on second thought...
  23. Gordi, do fans of Osaka Pro (or wrestlers, for that matter) pay much attention to WWE? Is it seen as the pinnacle of the business there? Is it presented differently (Yoshi Tatsu: Master of Grappling!)?
  24. I think Bret was always really good at coming up with creative ways to win without the Sharpshooter. Rolling up Piper out of the sleeper, playing possum on Diesel and getting the small package, beating Austin with the Piper finish, etc.
