Bret's pronunciation of Yokozuna is great. This Yo Kazuna guy seems to be on a rampage heading to his Wrestlemania main event.

"Yokozuna" just seems to be a name that trips up every WWF babyface. One thing noticeable about early Raw was how little Bret Hart appeared on it--he really has become a non-factor on WWF television after being all over the place after winning the title. This is still SO not a WrestleMania main event, but it's still a good Bret promo.

Bret does a good job painting Yoko as a threat who's undefeated and took out Duggan. Sounds like a lot of crowd noise is piped in. Hart says he'll make Yoko respect him. Very strong vanilla babyface, feels out of place here but obviously good choice to be on top.

Wow, this does feel like an early 1990's segment that crept into 1993 with Raw on. Can anyone pronounce Yokozuna? It is amazing that most of the other US promotions are running really hot angles right now, and WWF has been pretty brutal leading into WM 9.

Not the strongest Bret promo, but not the weakest either. Overall, it does its job. I had to laugh at Bret saying that the thought of facing Yoko gave him a giant pit in his stomach, though. If you think that's something, pal, just wait until you see the pits you get when he squashes you!

 

Am I the only one who wished the phrase "excellence of execution" would go far away and never come back? Surely there's another phrase out there that would describe him better than some tongue-twisting Ginoism that was also used on quite a few other heels whom Monsoon didn't want to flat-out praise back in the day.
