Finally, a match where I can see what all the fuss was about in 1993 for AAA. I've always been a huge Psicosis supporter, and La Parka's presence in this match just demonstrates how the presence of another rudo at his level motivates him to give an even greater performance. The sneaking in of low blows and such has never really been a Psicosis thing, but he pulls out some great schtick like that. The falls are paced really well. Rey and Psicosis seem to be building a rivalry that might last a few years or something, as they have a lot of interaction, as do Rey and Metal. Misterioso and Volador work with both La Parka and Psicosis quite a bit, and I'm not entirely sure what purpose Metal serves other than to set up spots, but he does a fine job of that. Parka's mask starts giving him trouble toward the finish, but that doesn't stop him from doing one of the best dives of all time. Psicosis scores the win for his team in the end, which is always cool.

I thought this was great in spots, and sloppy in spots. Parka and Psicosis were the standouts here. You kinda wish they would have worked the Memphis territory back in the day because those comedy spots and other parts of their schtick would have gotten over. Overall I enjoyed this.

Terrific. This was really fun to watch and it’s a great example of how great AAA could be at the time. La Parka was the man of the match. Great bumping by La Parka. Lots of AAA hasn't aged well, but this match certainly is still entertaining to watch.

Heavy Metal climbing up on the ropes to protest something that happened in match and then falling almost on his head in the ring had me almost in tears. Later on his timing appears to be way off on him doing something in the corner where he almost wipes out again. I think he was doing the Midnight/Rock n' Roll jumping on the turnbuckle to protect an opponent. But he was so late I'm still not sure. Some botching of moves but the legit comedy, especially La Parka, made for a fun time.

Some good and some bad. La Parka's bullet tope through the guardrail was a highlight, as was the psychology of the low blows and fake low blows. But there was a lot of sloppiness, and this is the second straight subpar effort from Misterioso, who continued to look lost and blew a majority of the spots he tried. The best parts of this were Rey Jr. as rudo punching bag, as so often seems to be the case with young Rey in these 6-mans. This got better as it went along but overall it wasn't particularly good.

Rey with some nice spots outside with Heavy Metal in the first fall, which the heels win with Psicosis & Parka taking falls. Parka catches Rey on a dive, but misses charging at him in the corner and goes to the floor. Volador sends Psicosis to the floor but no follow up dive as heels regroup. Misterioso & Volador with tandem tope suicidas on Parka & Psicosis. This allows Misterio to pin Heavy Metal with a rana off the ropes for 2nd fall. Cool spot with Parka throwing Misterio onto Psicosis's knee. Parka with a nice throw of Misterio onto the mat out of the corner with Heavy dropping an elbow in a cool spot. Rey killing it in the hot pink tights. Parka loses his mask at one point. A ton slimmer than today, but I enjoy the LA Park of recent vintage a hell of a lot more. Parka with an awesome flipping tope through the ropes. Psicosis pins Misterioso with a splash off the top for the win. Parka dancing with a ring girl between falls is great. This was fun but way too long, as is usually the case here.

Completely conflicting match as it alternated between amazing to sloppy at the drop of the hat. I ended up throwing it into the very good pile but man the highlights of this really do shine and show Psicosis being the loon we know he is and Rey getting his timing down and becoming a great sympathetic tecnico. The development here is fun to see and the guys have no problems taking chances to prove their worth. ***1/2

Not a bad match. There was quite a bit of nice double- and triple-teaming, which at least showed that these guys understood how to work as units. Too often these matches are more like six-man battle royals with little or no heed paid to teamwork at all.

 

The featured matchup here seemed to be Volador vs. La Parka, since they got almost all of the first fall to themselves and sizable chunks of the other two as well.

 

I'm guessing that La Parka's unmasking in the third fall was accidental, since Volador seemed to actively help him put it back on instead of laughing at him or trying to humiliate him in some other way.

 

I've seen the tilt-a-whirl backbreaker in almost every lucha match I've watched on these Yearbooks so far, but I've only seen it rarely in Japan and never here in the States. What makes that move so popular in Mexico?

 

What was with La Parka dancing with a fan after the match? The only other heel that I've seen welcome fans into the ring is Rick Rude when he used to kiss a lucky woman (who more often than not was a plant, from what I've heard).
