Loss
Clips of a house show match from Morristown between the two, with Cornette even taking a nice bump off of a hiptoss. DWB nails Horner with a chain for the DQ, then we get a Smothers/DWB brawl. Cornette throws powder in Smothers' eyes and Smothers attacks Tim Horner, thinking he's one of the bad guys. Horner takes exception and they fight. Love the chaos! Smothers and Horner do a promo in the locker room and Horner is still upset about it. Smothers finally gets through to him. El-P
Smothers was blinded, and apparently deaf too, couldn't he hear Horner ? I don't see were this is going, although a heel Tim Horner could work. Cornette has a pretty good punch himself, I guess he was taught by Eaton. He has gained a lot of weight in the past 2 years though, the difference is striking with the first SMW shows.
Kevin Ridge
Maybe the powder got in Smothers ears too! The announcer mentioned that Cornette was dominating much of the match which shouldn't be the case. Smothers tries to explain things to Horner as Rock n' Roll try to calm things down. PeteF3
Intriguing angle at the end of the match. White Boy and Smothers are in the respective corners, and after both get involved Smothers gets powder in the eyes from Cornette, and when Horner goes to check on him Smothers decks him and starts working him over. Horner fights back until the Rock 'n Rolls break them up. Things get smoothed over in the locker room. I was starting to follow SMW pretty closely through PWI Weekly and I have no recollection of this at all. Curious if this is going somewhere or not. soup23
I like the way this played out with being able to see both sides of the story. Horner with a heel run sounds odd but I am not a Horner guy so I am unsure of him in any role.
GSR
Clip of a House show from Morristown, TN. The Dirty White Boy nails Horner with a chain for the DQ and this brings Smothers into the ring. Cornette powders Smothers and he and the White Boy leave as Tracey starts swinging wildly unable to see. As Horner comes over to check on him he swings, knocks him down, then gets on top and starts punching him some more. The two of them roll around on the canvas and the Rock & Roll Express run out from the back to try and separate them. Ricky Morton hands Smothers a towel to try and wipe away the powder and only then does he realise what’s happened. He goes over to Horner to try and apologize, but he is reluctant to accept it and is upset over what’s just happened) We then get a dressing room interview with the two of them and Smothers said what happened wasn’t intentional, he got powder thrown in his eyes and all of a sudden there are people hitting him. Horner questions how come he didn’t know it was him? Smothers said he had powder in his eyes and couldn’t see, it wasn’t intentional and he didn’t know it was him. Horner says that Ricky and Robert said something similar to him so maybe he’s right? I can understand Smothers slugging Horner the once, but it is a stretch things to believe that he didn't know it was Horner when he was on top of him and then when they were rolling round on the canvas. They have been hinting at a Horner heel turn since he caused the SMW title to be held up in the Coward Waves the Flag match and after having watched him for well over a year as a face, I think it would be for the best and would certainly make him more interesting (I at least hope!). garretta
This went on too long to just be an accident, and I like the idea that Horner was still hot afterward. I think Tim as the wornged friend out for revenge could definitely have some legs. At least he's showing a bit of personality here. Of course, that may be negated If he keeps being dominated by Corny in the ring. Look, I get that Corny wants ninety percent of the heat in the promotion on himself, since he knows that he's coming back while others may not. But if he wants Horner to be worth a damn going forward in any role whatsoever, he can't let the fans believe that Horner's such a wimp that Jim Cornette can beat the crap out of him with his own two hands. Here's a tip, Corny: Go back in the archives that I know you have somewhere and take a look at Captain Lou Albano's matches once he became a manager. Copy those matches exactly, right down to the walkout at the end, unless you're in there with someone like Mark Curtis or Cowabunga the Ninja Turtle. The only way you should ever get any physical advantage at all is if the Bodies give it to you or you use a foreign object. Period, no exceptions.
