Loss Posted September 1, 2011 Author Report Posted September 1, 2011 Watts announces that Jake is no longer with WCW due to some personal problems he needs to take care of. Barbarian will replace Jake in the King of Cable tournament. Quote
Kevin Ridge Posted October 13, 2012 Report Posted October 13, 2012 More sad then Warrior leaving WWF at the time. Jake seemed to have a lot more potential in WCW. Quote
PeteF3 Posted September 7, 2013 Report Posted September 7, 2013 Watts with a surprisingly straightforward announcement about Jake. Some people in charge would have talked about how Sting beat Jake up in a parking lot and sent him running. Quote
WingedEagle Posted October 24, 2013 Report Posted October 24, 2013 Watts says Jake is out of WCW to deal with personal issues and Barbarian is taking his s place in King of Cable tourney. Real disappointing as there were a ton of potential for him in WCW following such a strong debut. Quote
garretta Posted May 3, 2016 Report Posted May 3, 2016 I'll bet that Watts talked the way he did out of respect for Grizzly Smith, Jake's dad, who was in the WCW offices at the time. Either that or his statement was "suggested" to him by Turner's corporate lawyers. I don't know why he just didn't go with the standard "He couldn't take the competition" line that he used for most of the wrestlers who left Mid-South. Granted, that kind of stuff was way outdated by now, but I doubt hat would have stopped him if that's what he wanted to say. Quote
