Lawler is hosting the show today with Cory Maclin, as Dave Brown has the day off. They make clear early on that Lawler had to sign something that he can't get involved no matter what, which tells me that something is going to happen where he has to get involved.

 

They recap an altercation the previous week between Lawler and Dream Machine. The two had a really fun brawl behind the curtain in the studio and ended up going into the parking lot. Lawler even threw DM in the back of a pickup truck!

 

Later, we get clips of their MSC match the previous Monday. Both guys talk a lot of trash before the match, and the highlights shown are really good, with Lawler throwing some great punches at him and busting him open before DDTing him on the floor. Pretty one-sided in the clips, which is the whole point. This is almost like the '85 Lawler/Dundee match, only with the babyface as the aggressor. DM finally turns the tide by nailing him with a chain and getting the pin after getting decimated for the full match. Cory Maclin interview DM after the match, and he looks brutal.

 

Back in the studio, Lawler is cutting a promo on DM when he shows up, as expected. DM tries to provoke Lawler into a fight by referencing his "mama and dead daddy", and that does the job. They have a pull-apart while DM screams about his dead daddy! Good stuff.

Lawler was throwing some great punches form the clips. One of them was really sneaky looking as came from the side to Dream Machine's head. Machine looked to have taken quite a beating in the match. Cory seems to reverse up the win the battle but haven't won the war saying. Twice. I think. Cory gets all smart with Dream and is lucky to escape. Good pull apart to end with Dream getting Lawler really angry.

This was all great. The clips from their match looked awesome and both brawls were a lot of fun. Great stuff.

Great way to build up a feud over the entire hour of television. The clips of action looked good. Dream Machine yelling out stinking dead daddy was great moment.

Lawler absolutely, positively cannot get involved in the action in his role as co-host. It's in writing, people! Studio audience isn't too thrilled with that. I'm guessing it won't last.

 

Clips of a pretty awesome brawl the previous week, that goes backstage and into the WMC parking lot. Then some good action from the Coliseum, where Graham steals a win from Lawler with a foreign object and a yank of the tights. Graham cuts a strong gloating promo in the locker room.

 

Graham is out in the studio, unscheduled, and cuts another great scorched-earth promo on Lawler. I loved how Graham made a point of turning his back on Lawler to the TV camera to cut his promo. He turns back around and finally goads Lawler into a fight by talking about his STINKING, DEAD, DADDY.

 

All-around good stuff, as Graham comes off as truly unhinged--the second studio incident really looked like something on the verge of legitimately spiraling out of control, in that Memphis way.
