Loss
Flair, Arn and Ole show up as Luger makes quick work of Rick Fargo. The Horsemen surround the ring and Luger seems ready for the challenge. The Steiners come out to back him up, and the Horsemen back off. Good segment. It was the easy way out, but the Luger turn did seem to take immediately, at least in terms of making him a cheered babyface.
PeteF3
Ross is still trying to push Luger as a tweener here, making qualifying statements like "Whether you love him or hate him..." and stressing that the Steiners are out to confront the Andersons rather than out of kinship with Luger. Somehow keeping an edge to Luger seems to be more effective in making him popular than what the WWF attempted to do.
soup23
Good set up of last second push for Wrestlewar with Luger and the Steiners fending off the Horseman.
Cox
I think they did about as good a job turning Luger as they possibly could, and he's getting the required crowd reactions. I thought it would be tricky to pull this off, since Flair was a very popular babyface and Luger was a hated heel, but they somehow did the job. I still think it was a mistake, but the execution is as good as it could be.
Kevin Ridge
Luger practically dead lifts his opponent into the Torture Rack. Horsemen come to ringside but Steiners come out to even things out. Horsemen back off.
Laney
Luger makes short work of Rick Fargo and then the Horsemen surround the ringside area. It appears that Luger is outnumbered but the Steiners come out to back him up. Last effort here to push the match for the next night. garretta
Not really much else to add, except that the tweener stuff would be by the boards after WrestleWar in favor of Luger's full membership in the Dudes with Attitudes. drew wardlaw
Lex is impressive here standing tall in the ring surrounded by the Horsemen. Fascinating that WCW was able to get Luger over as a heel and a face so many times, and WWF could do neither.
GSR
Jim Cornette and Jim Ross are on commentary and Cornette says that Luger is in the Danger Zone. He’s got this World championship match with Ric Flair tomorrow and the Horsemen have said where he is, they are going to be. This could get interesting. While Ross says the Horsemen have said they’re going to get Luger during this program. Lex racks Fargo and the Horsemen come down to ringside with Cornette saying how they are going to take him out before the match. The Steiners come out and Ross makes clear that they are here for the Anderson’s and are not Luger’s friends. The numbers are even and Luger gets on his knees and begs Flair to get in the ring, they don’t have to wait until tomorrow. The Horsemen aren’t so keen now they don’t have the advantage and retreat back down the aisle. The crowd have taken to face Luger pretty quickly. Best part of this was the Steiners coming to ringside and Ross saying how it is solely because they are after the Andersons and have a grievance with them (remember the interview where Ole talks about how the Steiners didn’t listen and now he doesn’t know where they are and doesn’t care?). It would have been too soon to have them come to help Lex, but this gives them the plausible reason to be out there and ultimately for the Horsemen to back off.
