Mike Awesome is going to pop Jerry Lawler just like a pimple! What a geek, but this is funny.

Awesome makes goofy faces and more or less confirms everything Lawler just said about him. Even if he were a better promo, Awesome's voice was always going to be a liability.

Nothing special about this, but who on either side of the USWA can hold a candle to Lawler as a promo? Bill Dundee in his own way, but that's it.

 

I think I liked Awesome better as a screaming madman in ECW. At least he had Jeff Jones to do his talking for him.

Him taking off his glasses was very funny. This back to back with the Lawler promo about him doesn't serve him well.

Mike Awesome says that going to the gym seven days a week, training hard and getting huge is what it’s all about, because when he gets Jerry Lawler in the ring he’s going to squeeze his neck and pop him like a pimple! Jerry Lawler likes to run down his opponents and talk bad about them, but it’s not psyching him out. Everyone knows that he’s a disgrace to that belt that he doesn’t deserve it, and in Dallas, TX he will take it from him.

 

Bar the goofy look on his face at the end when he took off his glasses off, I thought this was a fine interview and there was nothing wrong with it. Responds to Lawler’s comments, hits his points and builds the title match. Job done. Yeah, he’s no Jerry Lawler, but who is?

Interesting to note that Mike Awesome had that hairdo all through the 1990s. Whatever we may think of the mullet, that's a very impressive commitment to a hairdo.
