Flair does the standard promo he always does when he drops the title. He's not at the crossroads of his career, and Sting now has a burden to carry. Fines mean nothing. Herd and Turner mean nothing. Flair looks pretty threatening here.

What else would you expect from Flair, especially in under a minute? This is nothing new or different, which doesn't mean it's not great. I was kind of surprised he brought Ted Turner's name into it directly, but when the whims of one of the richest and most powerful tycoons in the world mean nothing to you, you're one seriously bad dude, and Flair gets that over superbly.

How did we get from this to the Black Scorpion?

Flair shows a different kind of arrogance here, good depth and nuance of the character which he's mastered over the last decade. I guess it's kind of by the numbers but it's solid and successful.

Ric Flair says that he’s asked daily whether he is now at the crossroads of his career. The answer is no. Sting is the one who is at a crossroads, as he’s the one who now has the burden of being the man who beat Ric Flair. He has the burden of being the man who took the World title away from the Horseman. The bragging rights, the notoriety, the money, everything they thrive on, Sting took! They’ve got nothing to lose now. Fines mean nothing, Jim Herd and Ted Turner mean nothing, they’re on a mission to get that World title back. He paid the price with broken bones, blood and guts, and now Sting has got to pay that price to be in the hot seat.

Good promo.
