Loss
Talk about it here.
Loss
Paul Bearer debuts, doing a totally different act than we're used to, keeping his head down as if he's attending a funeral, and speaking softly. Brother Love does all of the talking. It's a credit to both Undertaker and Paul Bearer that they were able to keep this act going for so long by adjusting it over time. Bix
NOW, BROTH-ER BEAR-ER, WHAT IS YOUR FIRST NAME? Paul. PAUL. BEAR-ER.
shoe
Kinda of cheesy that they told his last name 1st so they could get a laugh when they ask his 1st name.
PeteF3
Cool story bro time: I saw Bearer with UT at a house show before this aired, and through the less-than-optimal Ohio Center PA and seats we honestly thought the Undertaker's new manager was Paul Ellering. Love still does almost all the talking and has a vision of Randy Savage ending the Warrior's career at WrestleMania. Love promises that the Undertaker will spread flowers on the grave of Warrior's career. This probably should have made the result of WM7 obvious but I still think this a clever way to segue into a Warrior/Undertaker program. Kevin Ridge
Brother Love is too busy spreading his message of love to manage Undertaker. But there is a new manager! Paul Bearer! Paul doesn’t get much talking time. Love talks about Savage/Warrior match more. Bearer isn’t using his high volume voice yet.
soup23
This was a cool debut to see and I liked Piper and Vince's commentary. They continue to put over the Savage vs. Warrior match setting up that feud after Mania.
garretta
I don't really get the point of talking about Warrior when Savage is supposedly going to end his career at Mania; like Pete said, it sort of telegraphs the result. On the other hand, Taker's not really in a position to be thinking about Hogan just yet, and there's really no one else that he could have been programmed against who would have been as big a deal as Vince wanted. A Jake feud would have been a natural, but I think Jake's heel turn was already in the works. Maybe Piper would have worked if he'd been able to go, but he was too important to the DiBiase/Virgil situation. Kind of a low-key debut for Percy here. He couldn't have worked long-term as Taker's manager and been that soft-spoken, since Taker barely spoke at all, but it was effective for a first impression. It hit me while I was watching that Brother Love has only two more weeks, so they needed to do this now in order to get him out of the picture. This might also be the reason for the Warrior trash talk, as we all know who ends the Brother's career. I think the Paul Bearer joke would have been just as lame if they'd given his first name first. Even Vince and Piper have to acknowledge how stupid the whole thing sounded. It's one of the few times that Taker and everything associated with him isn't treated with (no pun intended) dead seriousness
