Loss Posted August 21, 2013 Author Report Posted August 21, 2013 Third and final match of the series. Hall and Nash keep flicking cigar ashes on Rey and blowing smoke in Rey's face while Syxx dominates. Hall and Nash do their usual feeds to Rey, but Syxx wins in the end once again. This is all leading to Rey challenging Nash to a match, and I think it was supposed to eventually lead to Hall/Nash vs Rey/Juvi/Psicosis until plans changed. I remember Hall and Nash wanting to do that match. This series has been a real burial of Rey in some ways, but I don't think it was initially put together that way. Anyway, they keep beating up Rey after the match then decide to cut a promo to brag about beating Flair and Piper the night before and also bring out Randy Savage. He doesn't really seem to have anything to talk about and tries too hard to be cool. DDP finally interrupts and says if Savage wants to rely on Hall, that's fine because no one knows Scott Hall like he does. He found himself a tag team partner to take on Hall and Savage at Bash at the Beach. Quote
Kevin Ridge Posted September 13, 2013 Report Posted September 13, 2013 Bad timing with the fireworks to "start the second hour" going off during match and cameras panning away from the ring. Rey would have got a massive pop if he beat Syxx. Mysterio takes out both Hall and Hall before Syxx hits with a kick. Losing by submission was a bit deflating. It did seem like both Hall and Nash were eager to get involved in this feud and both bumped good for Rey. Quote
soup23 Posted November 14, 2013 Report Posted November 14, 2013 If this would have led somewhere it would have been really cool because the bullying of Rey is pretty glorious from the Outsiders. However, the faint spots of Rey cleaning house of them only for Syxx to catch is not enough and then Nash absolutely demolishes him with the powerbomb. Savage being their buddy is pretty fun and I enjoyed Hall saying he left early and the disgust of Tony. Was the plan all along for Hennig to be the partner? The way Page said that everyone would know who his partner would be seemed to imply Sting and the crowd starting saying that but it could have just been a slip up in the delivery. Quote
El-P Posted June 20, 2014 Report Posted June 20, 2014 Rey really gets buried here. I'm surprised it led nowhere, as most of the booking was pretty well planned still at this time. Love Liz's outfit here. Just so classy. DDP saying "everyone knows who he is" totally implies it has to be Sting, I just don't see who else, so was it a screw up from DDP who adlibed or did the plan changed ? I think that Sting only had a limited numbers of dates a year in his contract so maybe they realized they should not use him so soon. Quote
PeteF3 Posted October 27, 2015 Report Posted October 27, 2015 Yeah, Rey briefly fighting off both Outsiders was cool, especially him using Hall as a springboard, but he's pretty marginalized on the whole. Syxx dominates from the beginning and gets a submission win, even with the interference. If this had led to Rey decisively beating Nash in a match instead of just being brutalized again, it'd be worth it. We get a little role-reversal afterward, as DDP interrupts a Savage promo from the rafters, and announces he has a partner to take on Savage & Hall. Sensible booking coming out of the previous night's show, but the mystery partner hype got totally out of control and led to a very underwhelming payoff--made even moreso by the fact that they would partially blow the reveal later tonight.
