Loss Posted August 22, 2013 Author Report Posted August 22, 2013 This is all about getting Nash over as a bully. He gives Rey a little, but not much. This match didn't really need to even happen, but the Nash/Rey interactions are pretty memorable, I'll say that. WHY WOULD GIANT NOT MAKE THE SAVE HERE? Am I about to get into Dave's constant pushing for a Rey/Giant tag team? Konnan comes out and the announcers seem to think it's to make a save. But he breaks Rey's leg and it looks like Konnan might be joining the NWO. This segment makes me mad, and not in a good "I can't wait to see these guys get their asses kicked" way. Such a Rey burial. *** Mike Tenay is here to interview Raven, but Raven has nothing to say. Tenay looks like such a dork here.
Zenjo Posted August 29, 2013 Report Posted August 29, 2013 Rey's leg would have to be as strong as a twig for Konnan's leglock to break it. That was pathetic.
Kevin Ridge Posted September 13, 2013 Report Posted September 13, 2013 That was a complete squash. Nash needed just an atomic drop to set up the Jacknife. I wouldn’t expect Rey to beat Nash but you would like it to be more competitive for a few minutes. Konnan trying to compete with PJ Walker comes out and puts a leg lock on Rey. Raven in the crowd! Tenay tries to interview him. Raven doesn’t want to talk about his dad today.
soup23 Posted November 16, 2013 Report Posted November 16, 2013 This mini feud was begging for Rey to pull off some type of big upset. Instead he gets killed and looks pretty foolish. nash beats him up and Konnan joins up on top. Raven makes his debut.
El-P Posted June 23, 2014 Report Posted June 23, 2014 Nash gave Rey a lot more during their 1999 feud. This was a senseless burial. And Konnan's involvment only made it worse, as he was embarrassing here, much like he was earlier on working against Jarrett (fucking up spots left and right, falling on his ass and making Jarrett look like one in the process). You can see the booking is getting weaker in spots in the undercard, and a bit redondant on top too.
PeteF3 Posted November 3, 2015 Report Posted November 3, 2015 I get that Rey needed to be written out for a bit, but there was no reason for him not to come back and eventually get one over on Nash. Tons of damage done to the cruiserweight division with this, as Rey is given absolutely zero shot by anyone, mainly the announcers, and the match lives up to the advance hype, so to speak. Konnan applies a half-assed anklelock which Rey sells like his knee has been amputated. Total misfire here--WCW's worst since the Piper tryouts. Mike Tenay ineffectively attempts to get some words out of Raven.
