Loss Posted August 22, 2013 Author Report Posted August 22, 2013 Last few minutes. Giant takes a tumble over the top rope, which brings The Giant out to attack Giant with the belt. DDP gets a Diamond Cutter on Savage, but it's ill-timed and the crowd doesn't even notice. Luger then gets nailed with the belt. The NWO is attacking the WCW guys in a pretty lethargic beatdown compared to the usual stuff. An obviously fake Sting comes through the crowd but to Tony's credit, he doesn't go overboard freaking out. The real Sting then comes down from the ceiling and the NWO bails. Finally at the last second, Curt Hennig shows up and Raven hops the railing. I guess that debut was kind of a big deal, but Hennig's WCW run was such a flop that it's hard to get excited about him showing up. Quote
Kevin Ridge Posted September 13, 2013 Report Posted September 13, 2013 Giant does another KO spot. Nash used little energy earlier on against Mysterio so can wrestle again in this match. NWO beat down before Sting arrives. We also get Hennig walking towards the ring and Raven jumping the guardrail. Raven doing that didn't fit his character. Quote
soup23 Posted November 16, 2013 Report Posted November 16, 2013 We at least now get a hook for DDP's match at BATB with Raven hopping the railing and hennig making his debut. I enjoy that WCW doesn't shy away from past histories that Page has. Quote
El-P Posted June 23, 2014 Report Posted June 23, 2014 We also get Hennig walking towards the ring and Raven jumping the guardrail. Raven doing that didn't fit his character. Agreed. I guess they were teasing either two could be DDP's partner, but still. Hennig coming out was a pretty big surprise, but coming just after Sting cleaned up the ring, he didn't get much reaction. And really, Hennig's star power had been overrated. Plus his entire character, story and demeanor screams nWo from the start. The fake Sting stuff was useless. Yeah, signs of tiredness in the booking. Good thing is, one of my favourite workers finally debuts. Quote
PeteF3 Posted November 3, 2015 Report Posted November 3, 2015 It feels like ages ago that we even last saw Hennig, considering what a sea change had taken place on WWF TV since the previous fall. Really, a number of different things were working against Hennig from the start, and I maintain they should have held off until Bash at the Beach if he was going to be the mystery partner. It wouldn't have saved him, but it may have helped. Quote
