Loss Posted September 14, 2013 Author Report Posted September 14, 2013 This week, Phil Muschnick is the target of Jim Cornette's wrath. This is so obviously surrogate Vince talking, but it's a great wrestling promo. Phil is criticized for talking about young wrestlers dropping dead and wow does Cornette's response look terrible in hindsight.
Kevin Ridge Posted September 28, 2013 Report Posted September 28, 2013 Cornette goes after Phil Muschnick and reads off some of Phil’s comments about wrestling fans. I see this as Cornette defending wrestling and taking Pillman’s death personally. But oh yeah, all the wrestlers young deaths that would happen makes it tough to argue.
jasch Posted November 24, 2013 Report Posted November 24, 2013 Whether or not that was Jim's verbage, I have little doubt he was irate that Muschnick used Pillman's death to call for a WWF boycott and was thrilled to bury him for doing so.
soup23 Posted May 17, 2014 Report Posted May 17, 2014 Cornette corners in on Phil Muschnick. This may have some Vince influence but it sounds like a typical Cornette rant which was fresh at this time before being done to death.
Robert S Posted July 31, 2014 Report Posted July 31, 2014 I suppose Cornette exploded during one creative meeting with a similar rant (probably content wise more like the first rant than this) and Vince decided that the stuff was too entertaining not to put it on TV. That said, the content of this rant really looks horrible considering the following ten years.
PeteF3 Posted February 19, 2016 Report Posted February 19, 2016 Mushnick is a laughable, racist old crank but his column about early wrestling deaths probably should have been given more attention. Phil was right about federal inquiries into baseball, at least.
Exposer Posted May 26, 2017 Report Posted May 26, 2017 Cornette lashes out on Phil Muschnick. Fun stuff here as he completely runs him down.
NintendoLogic Posted November 11, 2018 Report Posted November 11, 2018 Believe it or not, the Observer reported at the time that both of Cornette's Mushnick rants were his own idea and Vince had no involvement with either beyond running the first one by his lawyers beforehand. But yeah, they haven't exactly aged well, to put it mildly.
