Loss
Talk about it here.
Loss
I need to see more 80s Jaguar Yokota because she's a really great wrestler and athlete. I don't really know what the storyline is here, but Jag is the overmatched babyface fighting off Lioness and her heel group. Jaguar is like an equally athletic Toyota without the screaming and a better sense of pacing a match. This was a great match -- even if it did have too much outside interference -- that I wish I had a better idea of what specific things to include as lead-in for, because I think it might have resonated even more. It looks like the blowoff to a big angle that had been building for a long time, based on the finish and post-match elation. If someone can provide a list of matches with dates that led to this, I'll include it on the Errata.
FLIK
that I wish I had a better idea of what specific things to include as lead-in for, because I think it might have resonated even more. I'd say check Quebrada. I'm not overly familiar with specifics but I know they'd been building the feud since atleast mid year and things continue on into 98 which also produced some great matches that should make that set (another singles, the 60 min tag draw, etc...) Jaguar is like an equally athletic Toyota without the screaming and a better sense of pacing a match. Jag is the one who kinda invented/popularised the go go joshi style that others like Toyota took to a higher lvl later on. Jag also helped train Toyota for whatever that's worth. Loss
Yeah, Lorefice didn't really talk much about Jd'. I tried there since OJ had originally said in recommendations that I should include the build, but there were no comments indicating anything really, so I wasn't sure what to add. FLIK
Yeah, Lorefice didn't really talk much about Jd'. He says enough that you can get a sense of things I think http://quebrada.net/videos/Jd1.html just searching for Jaguar vs Lioness matches from that time frame 6/8/97 Jaguar Yokota & Yuko Kosugi & Miyuki Sogabe vs. Lioness Asuka & Ryuna & The Bloody. A brawl totally dominated by the heels. Kosugi was the bump girl until Lioness Liger bombed her on the floor which injured her legit, so the match eventually continued 2 on 3 since Kosugi had to be hospitalized. Jaguar was dominated, getting bloodied after Lioness piledrove her through a table, then actually pinned after Lioness being jackknifed through a table, towerhacker bombed, and Liger bombed off a table that was set up on the 2nd rope. 7/27/97 Lioness Asuka & The Bloody vs. Jaguar Yokota & Miyuki Sogabe 9/5/97 Jaguar Yokota & Cooga vs. Lioness Asuka & The Bloody 9/7/97 Lioness Asuka & Eagle Sawai & Shark Tsuchiya vs. Jaguar Yokota & Cooga & Megumi Yabushita. Kodo Fuyuki refed for a while, but he couldn't keep any semblance of order and Jaguar wound up kicking his butt, so Tommy Ran took over. Heel dominated this one. Jaguar was the best, but the match went on forever, especially considering how one-sided it was, so it was kind of boring. Lioness pins Jaguar to set up TWF title rematch. Kevin Ridge
The heels were so involved throughout the match that I got a good laugh of them getting screwed in the end when where were stuck holding the table near the turnbuckle while Jaguar gets the win off a reversal. soup23
One of the few matches that did feel like it was a victim of the yearbook system as the magnitude did feel lost from an overall moments based on this being the only thing we have seen. I didn't think this was a great match and the interference felt very Dragon Gate like but Jaguar did have some awesome timing on her comeback and I loved the finish of her eeking out a win. Would like to see more from the stuff surrounding this.
PeteF3
This was probably a great match between two people with great reps that I'm anxious to see more of, pity about all the goons outside constantly getting in the way of me trying to watch the damn match. This probably worked better in context as other people mentioned but as it was, it was horribly distracting and not in a "drawing heat" kind of way either. Thankfully this ends the only way that it should have, with Jaguar pulling out a counter to get a flash win overcoming all the odds. When they were actually wrestling, the action was great and Jaguar is wonderfully fluid--very quick but not suffocatingly so the way Toyota can be. Jetlag
I didn't think the interference was that bad here. In fact it's befuddling to me that in a match full of really graphic violence and lunatic bumps with one of them mostly taking a brutal one sided beating people are distracted by some (pretty minor) interference. Jaguar is a maniac here, bouncing around like she's not old enough to be your mom and splatting on the floor. Asuka is equally crazy slicing her up with reckless kicks and smashing her with props including chucking the wooden splittered edge of a table in her face. Asuka takes some certified lunatic bumps too for good measure. I didn't think it amounted to a great match like others as it really felt too rushed and ECW-ish in parts but as far as gruesome trainwrecks goes this is pretty high up.
