efrim
In retrospect, it should have tipped me off that wrestling was a work when at 8 years old, even putting a sharpshooter on my 4 year old brother was functionally impossible if he struggled even slightly. I could occasionally lock in a single leg boston crab though
NintendoLogic
As for least favorites, I hate this one I've seen Blue Panther do a few times where he puts his opponent in an inverted Gory special and then gallops around the ring like he's giving the guy a horsey ride. Slasher
In retrospect, it should have tipped me off that wrestling was a work when at 8 years old, even putting a sharpshooter on my 4 year old brother was functionally impossible if he struggled even slightly. I could occasionally lock in a single leg boston crab though Really? I have been able to cinch the sharpshooter on buddies that weren't entirely cooperative. The problem is they, and I by process, quickly found out how nonlethal it really could be if done right. It is just crossing your legs around and bending them over. If you elevate them, it hurts more but the way Bret does it sometimes and others do it, it is just like laying on a flat surface with your legs up in the air like girls do, reading magazines or whatever, but with a guy holding your legs and sitting on your back. Slasher
On a different note, could a worker turn the giant swing into a submission move? Like if sold as a kid shouting "Let me off this ride!" on the Gravitron?
efrim
Yeah, I could never keep his legs crossed around my leg while he was still on his back. It was super easy for him to just twitch or kick his way out of that setup. I could never hold on that setup before turning him. The crab was fast enough that I could do it, but not the sharpshooter. MikeCampbell
I'm a sucker for tricked out looking armbars, Atushi Aoki of All Japan (and NOAH before that) always brings the goods.
RyanClingman
Volk Han had a ton of crazy submission holds that were really fun. Kawada's crucifix armbar and stomping Boston crab are also pretty great. I would also have to go with the cattle mutilation, Nagata's demon armbar, Suzuki's sleeper hold, the lion tamer and Taker's gogoplata. The problem was probably that you didn't give him a backbreaker or a side Russian legsweep beforehand.
y2stump
Original Liontamer: when Jericho used do it in WCW it looked so devastating and painful. It's a shame it turned into a Boston Crab later, but the original will always be my favorite.
goodhelmet
I love the Stretch Muffler. I am becoming a huge fan of this move too. Also, there ar eso many cool lucha submissions, I don't know the names of them all.
rainmakerrtv
Not really a particularly fancy Lucha submission, but I have been watching a lot of El Hijo Del Santo and am loving his Camel Clutch, especially in the late 80s, he really seemed to be warping the other guy's back with it. Mad Dog
Scott Hall's abdominal stretch. Just a great move that let him cheat like a mother fucker.
Exposer
The Boston Crab or half-crab are always holds that look painful if done right. I'm also a fan of the Fujiwara arm bar too. It seems like an immediate arm breaker if done properly for real.

It seems like an immediate arm breaker if done properly for real. It is. I've loved Cattle Mutilation since I saw Muta bust it out at Starrcade '89 and didn't have a name for it. "Cattle Mutilation" is a stupid name but "bridged double arm bar" is kind of a mouthful. I also like a good Indian deathlock. Really, if the execution is there, I like pretty much any hold except those where the wrestler puts themselves on their back. Those seem pretty self defeating. Sidebottom
Glad I'm not the only one who thinks "cattle mutilation" is on the wrong end of the stupid-name-o-meter...
