Loss Posted August 22, 2014 Author Report Posted August 22, 2014 Randy Hales has had a sleepless night because Austin Idol no-showed, and he spent all night re-formatting the TV show. Lawler points out that he tried to warn Hales about Idol, saying he's no-showed more than George Jones and has red spots all over him from wrestling promoters only touching him with ten feet poles. Ouch! Hales concedes that Lawler did warn him. Hales is upset that Lawler couldn't just have this conversation with him earlier today instead of out here on television. Has he ever watched wrestling? Lawler points out that Hales should get away from idiots like Idol and Bill Dundee, which brings Dundee out, and he and Lawler get in a heated argument. Dundee finally has enough of Lawler's mouth and they get into a nice brawl. Even though Lawler is the heel, the studio crowd is siding with him and booing Dundee. Other wrestlers try to separate the brawl and I think this is also Stacy Carter's first appearance on a yearbook. I'm still riding the high of Memphis wrestling being back! Quote
soup23 Posted September 1, 2014 Report Posted September 1, 2014 Stacey was hanging out in some of the 1997 USWA stuff. Sad to see Austin flaked out as I thought his gimmick had legs. Anyway, Memphis is usually good at ad-libbing some stuff and Lawler and Dundee are two of the best leading a good brawl around the studio. Stuff feels kind of business as usual in Memphis. Quote
PeteF3 Posted May 21, 2016 Report Posted May 21, 2016 Austin Idol no-shows, the sun rises in the East, and it's a day ending in a Y. The "final confrontation" last week of course turns out to be not-so-final. It's Memphis-by-numbers but of course Lawler and Dundee could fall out of bed and put on a compelling segment. Quote
TravJ1979 Posted July 16, 2016 Report Posted July 16, 2016 After the great buildup last week, Idol no-shows. If Hales didn't have Lawler around to explain this nobody would have cared. I loved Dundee punching Lawler in the mouth. Stacey getting physically involved was nice. She was there last week in the background. I can't get over Hales and the way he moves his head constantly like a newborn baby who hasn't developed enough strength in his neck muscles to hold up his head. It's distracting and definitely not something that helps me buy him as a legit authority figure. Quote
