Ric Flair does an interview to address the NWO reuniting on Nitro. Flair talks about how he and Harley Race wrestled in front of a sold out crowd in 1981 in this very building and they fought for the world title that was passed along so easily on Monday night. He says he realizes Hogan sees him as no one and Nash thinks the old man can't go, but they are the ones that will have to look at themselves in the mirror in ten years. Nash will have to tell his kids he laid down for Hulk Hogan. Flair takes blame for the match happening in the first place, and falling for their plan. Flair even tells Luger he has everything going for him except leadership and guts, and that he sucks. Finally, he has a word for Bischoff going silent all night on Monday night. In a few hours, he'll be in Atlanta and Bischoff better be in his office at 8am, because they are putting together a plan to take care of Hogan and Nash on Monday night. He closes by listing a lot of world champions and great opponents through the years and says they aren't going to take that from anyone. This was sooo good, better than the angle deserved in fact.

If Nash followed up on this promo with a well booked angle on Nitro taking the NWO down a peg or two, maybe, just maybe, things could have not spun so out of control in the quick fashion that it did.

This is an excellent promo and combined with Flair's promo on the 1/21 Thunder is one of the brighter moments for WCW in January 1999.

Man, Flair really tried his damndest to make sense of the nonsense from Monday. Flair has a great line about the history of the sport and brings things to a meta level talking about Nash reflecting ten years later about laying down for Hogan. Flair has words for the other Wolfpac members including Luger which felt really close to how he truly felt. Bischoff is to report to Flair's office by 8:00 AM for them to figure out a plan. Flair lists the world champions and god bless him from adding Garvin in that list. Flair in late 1998 and early 1999 is honestly having one of the best promo runs of his career which says something.

What kills me is this promo shows they STILL HAD SOMETHING. After the Dome disaster, there was a light at the end of the tunnel--you have Flair fight back, and have Goldberg plow through every NWO member one-by-one until he gets to Hogan again. You could milk that all the way to Havoc or even Starrcade if you developed a plan and stuck to it. Instead, 2 months from now we're trying to figure out how fucking double-turn Flair and Hogan.

"Don't you wrap me up, baby--I run the company now!"
