Loss
Last few minutes. Ohara and Goto do a lot to put Nakanishi over in some pretty American sequences. Nakanishi is bleeding from the mouth and seems to be a pretty horrible wrestler. He and Nagata win the IWGP tag titles here.
Tim Evans
Nakanishi with a lot of Ryback type offense. Nagata was pretty good but this didn't seem like a good match based on the clips. Ohara and Goto look like they came from Memphis Japan.
soup23
Nakanishi continues his big push and I can't understand why. This felt like Nagata and three insufficient guys having a sub-par match.
PeteF3
Good Lord, Nakanishi almost broke his neck doing that double-spear. Nakanishi flaps his arms a lot like a less muscular and less talented Lex Luger, but the crowd is admittedly into him and into this match even if the work is mediocre. For a big stadium show this does not feel like a "casual" audience.
cactus
I can give or take the first ten minutes as not a lot happens apart from a teased fallout between Nagata and Nakanishi after a miscommunication, but nothing comes from it. Ohara and Goto are solid enough brawlers, with Ohara having some noticeably stiff strikes. This gets good once Nakanishi is Powerbombed on the outside and makes a monster comeback to clean house and save Nagata from his mugging. Nakanishi, bleeding from the mouth, launching Goto onto Ohara from the Torture Rack position was a cool spot that made Nakanishi look like a megastar. The crowd pops huge for Nakanishi and Nagata winning the straps. The booking of NJPW might of been all over the place around this period, but you could never say that they didn't have a wide selection of new stars to build the company around. ★★★
