Great show again! Pete fits right in despite interrupting Parv at points. :) I am a huge Kawada fan myself, but I tend to agree on Kawada losing 6/3/94 as a good idea. As Johnny Ace goes, 1997 was his big year in AJPW. He really stepped up and started to be a major player in main events and held his own for the most part. Good luck getting the next show out quickly as you have two 60 minute matches on there.

Thanks. Pete was very helpful for his knowledge of the product. Otherwise Parv would put me on the spot and I would have to scramble to figure these things out!

Two 60 minute matches? Thanks for the warning!

I agree that Misawa should have gone over here. It was the right time to do the 'Kawada takes Misawa further than anyone else has, but still can't get the job done' story. What really hurt is that Kawada didn't get him next time. The story had nowhere to go but a Kawada win, but they dragged their heels on it for years.

I agree with Parv that it's hard to see Kawada as the ace, but I think he could've been portrayed as an equal to Misawa who was always a threat to take the title from him, much like the top gaijin (and later Kobashi) were portrayed. Instead he never really got past being the guy that was forever nipping at Misawa's heels, even after he did eventually win the title.

Another really enjoyable show - PeteF3 certainly earned his keep, I've enjoyed his notes in the yearbook on my stop-start journey into early 90s All Japan.

Parv, wanted to commend you on your patience in not rushing to all the highly touted stuff. Going chronologically through the 80s set and half the 90s to get to here is really impressive.

06/03/94 was one of my first stops when I started getting tapes in 1995.
