Lance Russell: "Hello again, everybody! Lance Russell and Dave Brown here again for CWA Wrestling in Memphis, TN. Let’s get right to our first segment, “This Week in the CWA.” Dave take it away.

Dave Brown: Well thank you Lance and great to be with you and all the wrestling fans here in the CWA. Since our last show in late November so much has happened so let’s get everybody caught up on the going-ons here in the CWA. First let’s start with a few major announcements from our President of the CWA, Mr. Ed Marlin.

1. First of all, after a lot of wheeling and dealing, the CWA has bought the rights to control the wrestling scene in the great state of Arkansas. CWA will now run shows in such wonderful cities as Little Rock, Jonesboro and Fayetteville. We will also be seen each and every Saturday night on KARK Channel 4 out of Little Rock, Arkansas. Since the area we will now be covering is growing by leaps and bounds, the travel schedule was also in need of repair. So, in order to provide our fans with the best quality, the schedule will be as follows. Every Monday night we will still be at the Mid-South Coliseum. The CWA will then go on tour every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Each week will travel to a different state. One week will be Arkansas followed by Mississippi followed by Tennessee and then to Kentucky. For those great fans in the area who want to see us right here in studio, our TV tapings will now be at 7:00 pm every Tuesday night. Each of our affiliates will be able to choose the best time slot on when to show it.

2. Also being added to the great list of CWA cities will be Chattanooga, TN, Knoxville, TN and Hattiesburg, Mississippi.

3. The CWA, while still being loyal participants in both the AWA and the NWA will now have their own champion. The Continental Heavyweight Champion will be the most important title in our promotion and the first ever champion will be crowned next month in the Mid-South Coliseum. We will also retain The AWA Southern Heavyweight Championship and the NWA Mid-American Heavyweight Championship. More information on the tournament to crown a new champion will be given in the coming weeks. I will also give additional information on Lars Anderson and the defunct CWA Television Title.

AWA SOUTHERN HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION: JERRY “THE KING” LAWLER
Jerry Lawler continues to have success defending his title here in the CWA. In late November, he had been taking on many of the current and former members of Sir Oliver Humperdink’s stable including Stan Hansen and Plowboy Frazier. Lawler did manage to escape each time with his title. In more recent times, Lawler has been challenged by a member of JR Foley’s Commonwealth, Rowdy Roddy Piper. This may prove to be his toughest challenge to date as Piper is capable of anything.
Lawler still has a loftier goal in mind. He wants to be World Champion. He has recently wrestled AWA World Champion, Hulk Hogan to a 30 minute time draw and also wrestled NWA World Heavyweight Champion, Harley Race. In December, he will make a couple of appearances in the AWA while champion Hulk Hogan is touring Japan. He is hoping to endear himself to AWA President, Stanly Blackburn and earn another title shot with Hogan. If he can keep the Southern Heavyweight title away from Piper until December 26^th, he will earn another title shot with Race. Race will be in the Mid-South Coliseum that night to face whoever is the Southern Heavyweight Champion.

AWA SOUTHERN TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS: The Rock n Roll Express:
After defeating Sir Oliver Humperdink’s team, The Japanese Assassins in a scaffold match in the Mid-South Coliseum, the Rock n Roll express are waiting to see which CWA team will become the new #1 contenders. They already have a major opponent lined up for the Super Card at the Mid-South Coliseum on December 26^th. That’s right folks, you heard it here first, Afa and Sika, the Wild Samoans are coming to town in an attempt to capture the AWA Southern Tag Team Titles.
Just like Jerry Lawler, The Rock n Roll Express are hoping to become World Champions. They already have a clean victory over the AWA World Champion, Road Warriors but that was to regain their Southern Titles which they had at first lost to the Road Warriors the night before. Robert Gibson and Ricky Morton traveled with Jerry Lawler on December 2^nd and December 9^th to the AWA trying to showcase their talents and earn another world title shot.

NWA MID-AMERICAN CHAMPION: “Hacksaw” Butch Reed
Butch Reed is despised by the fans here in the CWA as he is a member of Ernie Ladd’s Army. Ladd had been insulting the people of the area with his version of “Civil Rights” for months and his racist rhetoric has upset almost everybody. While he is not well liked, nobody can take away Butch Reed’s ability or his willingness to fight anybody. In his short time as champion, he has feuded with both Austin Idol and Bruiser Brody and has come out on top each and every time. He has also been in a bit of a tag team war with other members of the Army against the likes of Troy Graham, Junk Yard Dog and Mr. Wrestling II. Any one of those 5 wrestlers would love another shot at the Mid-American Title. We will just have to wait and see what happens next for Reed.

NWA Mid-American Tag Team Title: Jules Strongbow and Mark Youngblood:
This title was formerly the Mississippi Valley Tag Team Title and was held by Hacksaw Higgins and Moondog Moretti. To better the relationship between the CWA and the NWA, the title was renamed the NWA Mid-American Tag Title. This would give both the AWA and the NWA one singles title and one tag title in this promotion.
In terms of the title holders, Strongbow and Youngblood had been feuding with Moondog Moretti and Hacksaw Higgins for the past couple of weeks. It seemed the Moretti and Higgins did not respect the accomplishments of Strongbow and Youngblood in other wrestling promotions nor did they respect the Indian culture. Strongbow and Youngblood never backed down and were able to defeat the champions in a match in Boonesville, Mississippi. Strongbow was able to catch Moretti in a Gory Special, a back to back backbreaker to gain the victory by submission. In a rematch for the title, Youngblood nailed Moretti with a back body drop and gained the 1..2..3…

LARS ANDERSON AND THE TV TITLE?
The CWA Board of Directors have decided to discontinue the Television Title. This is due in part to wanting to have more title matches available for the fans at none televised venues and in part due to the disappearance of the TV champ, Lars Anderson. Lars became the first ever CWA television champion and shortly after that his brother Gene appeared. The two brought back the Minnesota Wrecking Crew tag team and Lars was doing double duty with great success. All of a sudden, his other brother, Ole, appears in CWA and says he is after Lars for leaving him high and dry in a match in Georgia a few years ago against Ivan Koloff and Alexis Smirnoff. Lars refused to fight Ole saying he would not be good for the family to air their differences in front of the world. Ole did not except this and attacked Lars every opportunity he had. As Ole predicted, Lars seems to have run away again. Ole has also left the CWA and is in search of more revenge on Lars. Bill Ash also seems to left in search of another tag partner as
3. Major Roster changes:
First of all, Sir Oliver Humperdink and his House of Humperdink is in shambles. The Japanese Assassins, Magic Dragon and Goro Tsurami were injured at the hands of the Rock n Roll Express in their Scaffold Match at the Mid-South Coliseum. They have both returned to Japan to seek medical attention for undisclosed injuries. When and if they return to the Memphis area has not yet been determined. Humperdink has also lost his other two main cogs in his stable. First, Sabu has made a decision to leave CWA to wrestle in another promotion. He cites Humperdink as the cause. He says Humperdink used him to do the tough work but never gave him the respect he deserved. Plowboy Stan Frazier turned on Humperdink in a match on December 10^th when Humperdink and his new sidekick, Tojo Yamamoto decided to attack Austin Idol. Frazier was upset and the comments by Tojo and said enough was enough. Humperdink might be willing to sell his soul to the devil but Frazier could not back anyone who supported Yamamoto.

2. Tojo Yamamoto: Tojo had been by the side of Humperdink the last few weeks and everyone was wondering if he was a new member of the House of Humperdink. It turns out that Tojo was just helping his old friend while he waited for his managerial license to be granted here in the CWA. President Ed Marlin did grant that license this past week and now Tojo will be bringing in his new stable of destruction known as the Shogunate to the CWA.

3. Where does this leave Sir Oliver Humperdink? Well right now it leaves him with an empty house but he claims that he will be back better than ever. In fact, he will reveal one of his new members to us here tonight.
4. As if the tag team division was not already tough enough. The Commonwealth under the guide of JR Foley has traded Lumberjack Pierre to another member of the NWA for Luke Williams. That’s right folks, the original Sheepherders are back together. Luke Williams and Butch Miller have been reunited and that can only spell trouble for the likes of the Rock n Roll Express.

Ernie Ladd and his Army:
· Except for Hacksaw Reed, Ladd’s Army has not seen much success in the past few weeks. In fact, two members, King Cobra and Big Red Reese have left. This is in part due to a masked wrestler he takes every opportunity to attack any member of Ladd’s army that he can. This masked man has used chairs, brass knuckles and any other weapons that are available to him. King Cobra and Reese were able to corner him once and gain a little revenge and left him bloody but were not able to reveal his identity. Ladd swears to one and all that he knows who this masked man is and he will reveal his identity tonight. Ladd wasted no time in adding a new face to his army. He brought in 23 time champion, the Black Panther himself, Norvell Austin. This former member of the Midnight Express will be teamed with Porkchop Cash as they form the Midnight Bruise Brothers.

· The Army is also struggling to deal with the likes of Junk Yard Dog and Mr. Wresting II. JYD appeared on the scene as he was upset at Ladd for calling anyone he disagreed with a racist or Uncle Tom. JYD wanted to restore the improved relationship between the white and black population in this region and thought that his idea of respect would go a long way. He defeated Ladd on numerous occasions but the numbers were always against him. He would defeat Ladd but then the rest of the army was just too much. The Dog brought in his old buddy, Mr. Wrestling II, and together they have Ladd’s Army in running for cover. Ladd recently called in some re-enforcements. Let’s see where this all goes. With a group that already includes Porkchop Cash, Butch Reed and Ernie Ladd and then you add Norvell Austin, they are a force to be reckoned with.

· RULE CHANGE: The CWA and its Board of Directors has decided to legalize the piledriver.

Lance Russell: “Wow Dave some amazing happening here in the CWA. What a show we have tonight but before we get to the ring, we need to take a quick break.

Lance Russell: Well Sir Oliver Humperdink. Your House seems to be somewhat of a mess of late.

Sir Oliver Humperdink: Shut up Pencil Nose. What do you know? My stable of wrestlers is at an all-time high. I will control the CWA in a very short time.

Lance Russell: That is news to me. Ah, the last time I checked, your stable is empty. The Japanese Assassins have returned to Japan, Tojo Yamamoto has asked for and been granted his Managerial License and Plowboy Frazier was so outraged by your behavior that he has left you.

Sir Oliver Humperdink: Little do you know. Oh how little do you know. My source of wealth is so massive that as one leaves I just buy new and better talent. Did you see those cowards, The Japanese Assassins in the scaffold match against the Rock n Roll Express? They better have returned to Japan or else they would have felt my wrath. I cannot stomach their lack of heart. They are pathetic and very, very replaceable. As for Plowboy Frazier. That fat no good traitor. I will spend every waken moment obtaining two goals. First, to control ALL CHAMPIONSHIPS here in the CWA and the second will be to rid this promotion on FAT DOUGHBOY FRAZIER. As for Tojo Yamamoto, I have no hard feelings. He is a true champion and a great man. I am sure that he will do a wonderful job as a manager.

Lance Russell: So you do in fact have a new stable of wrestlers.

Sir Oliver Humperdink: I have spent a massive amount of money and over the next 3 or 4 weeks you will see the great stable that I have amassed. In fact, right now, I will escort my newest member of the House of Humperdink to the ring and you will see total destruction. The fans here in Memphis will be in awe of the viciousness of my new wrestler.

Lance Russell: Well fans, let’s see Sir Oliver Humperdink’s new wrestler

MATCH #1: Buzz Sawyer with Sir Oliver Humperdink vs Mike Jackson

Mike Jackson is a newcomer to the CWA but he gets a warm welcome by the fans because they already know that he will be against Sir Oliver Humperdink and his new man. They know very little of Buzz Sawyer but he is yelling, screaming and barking on his way to the ring but that is only the half of it. Humperdink is actually leading him to the ring by a dog chain attached to a dog collar. This man truly is a Mad Dog. Sawyer is not a tall man at 5’11 but he is well built at 240 pounds. As the bell sounds, he charges at Mike Jackson and just overwhelms him with power and speed. This match is a total squash that shows Sawyer is a maniacal maniac. He rips at Jackson’s face and bites him several times in the head. After an Irish Whip he hits a huge powerslam. As ref Jerry Calhoun begins the count, Humperdink yells at Sawyer who picks up Jackson and continues the beating. This time, he climbs to the top rope and soars through the air and nails Jackson with a massive death leap. Humperdink allows the 3 count this time and then he rushes into the ring and quickly attaches the dog chain to Sawyer’s collar and leads the barking maniac to the locker room. Some of those in the TV audience seem afraid as Sawyer passes by.

Lance Russell: Well that Sawyer is not playing with a full deck but neither is his manager. I wonder what else Humperdink has instore for us over the next few weeks. Next on today’s program is an interview with someone called the Dream Machine? I am not sure who this and am a little in the dark as to who my next guess is going to be.



Lance Russell: Well, well well. My next guest, who is calling himself the Dream Machine is none other than the masked man who has been terrorizing Ernie Ladd’s Army over the past two weeks.

The Dream Machine: That’s right Lance. It is time. It is time to reveal myself to the fans and to introduce my goal. I have been listening to Ladd and his nonsense for too long now. I can’t take it no longer. Our fans need someone to stand up for what is right. Ladd is only about Ladd and tries to come off as some Civil Rights leader. He is not a leader. He is a gangster. He steals. He assaults. Then he claims that he is the victim. He claims black power. We have seen in recent weeks JYD, a beloved black wrestler proclaim that Ladd is a fake. Today I would like to introduce to you my partners in the organization known as Sweet Dreams.



Lance Russell: My oh My. If it is none other than Tony Atlas. I must admit that I am not familiar with your other partner.

Tony Atlas: Lance Russell, this is Sweet Brown Sugar. My good friend JYD called me and told me that Ladd is at it again up in Memphis and that the Dream Machine here was fighting back. I know Ladd. Have known him for a while. He is a snake and he don’t every change. I know that he never fights fair. It is always 2 on1 or 3 on 2. Well guess what, the odds are now in our favor. Reed, you think you are all big and bad. Well take a look at these.



Atlas: That’s right Reed. You are no longer the strongest around. I am coming for you. And the man to my right may be called Sweet but he is the greatest athlete you have ever seen.

Sweet Brown Sugar: Thank you for the kind words Tony. I am happy to be here. I am happy to defend the future of America. If this country is going to continue to succeed, we need to find a way to get along. People like Ladd and his puppets are trying to pull us into the gutter but I will allow it. Dream Machine, Atlas and Myself are here to bring you a brighter future. Ladd, beware. We are coming for you. You won’t know where. You won’t now when but trust me brotha, we will get you!



Lance Russell: Well this is very interesting. It seems like we have a war brewing here. I also have a bit of information for you folks. It seems that Ladd’s behavior has prompted a story in the most recent edition of Pro Wrestling Illustrated. The article questions if anyone can stop Ernie and his band of followers. Well it seems these men who were just out here are going to try. President Ed Marlin got a call this morning from someone else he is going to try and put an end to Ladd. That’s right folks, the 8^th Wonder of the World is on his way to Memphis and the CWA has already sanctioned a match at the Mid-South Coliseum for December 26^th with Andre the Giant taking on Ernie Ladd! What a night of action that is going to be. We need to take a break before we get to our next match.




Lance Russell: Well let’s get back to the ring for some tag team action. This will be the first time we are seeing the team known as the Kansas Jayhawks in action.

Match #2: The Kansas Jayhawks vs Ted Allen and Roy Lee Welch

The speakers begin to blare “My heroes have always been Cowboys by Willie Nelson as the Jayhawks make their way to the ring. As soon as the contestants walk out to the ring, the crowd realizes that “Dirty” Dutch Mantell” is one of the members of the Kansas Jayhawks. Mantell, and his partner, Bobby Jaggers come to the ring wearing black cowboy hats and carrying bull whips. The crowd remembers how dirty Dutch can be from his last stint in Memphis. The match is not a complete squash match as both Allen and Welch have some very good technical skill but in the end, Mantell and Jaggers prove to be just too much. The match ends when Mantell hits Welch with a huge leaping elbow to the mid-section. A quick tag to Jaggers for a top rope elbow drop and that was all she wrote.

Lance Russell: Well Dutch. We have not seen you in these parts in over a year. What brings you back?

Dutch Mantell: First of all, the man standing next to me is “The Hangman,” Bobby Jaggers. He is a 13 time champion including the Florida Heavyweight Title holder. We are here for one reason and one reason only. We are going to take those NWA Mid-American Tag Belts. We are sick and tired of what has been going on around here.

Bobby Jaggers: You got that right. While we have not been in Memphis, word travels in this industry. You have two Indians running around here talking heritage this and tradition that! It’s all a bunch of nonsense. Remember one thing you losers. You are sitting there on your reservations because you LOST to the United States. This war will be no different. You will lose again. This time to the Kansas Jayhawks. We are going to take those stupid headdresses and ram them down your throats and take your belts at the same time.



Lance Russell: Well what else would you expect from Dutch Mantell and whoever he is with but I will tell you something. When Dutch sets his mind to things you can usually bring it to the bank. This is a situation we will have to keep our eye on.




Lance Russell: I have heard that you are now in control of one of the greatest tag teams of our generation. Luke Williams is here in Memphis and has rejoined his former partner Butch Miller.

JR FOLEY: That’s right Mr. Russell. I am not taking anything away from Lumberjack Pierre. He and Butch were having great success here but Butch called Luke back in New Zealand and rang my praises. Butch told Luke that together, the Commonwealth can rule wrestling. Luke is like a brother to Butch and trusted every word. Luke is in route right now and make no mistake about it. The Sheepherders are about to begin a reign a terror the CWA tag team division has never scene. They will make their CWA debut right here on TV next Saturday. Uneducated people of Memphis, get ready to see domination. Save your money. Maybe you don’t eat too many grits this week and buy a ticket to the studio show. You will see something you will never forget. I would like to turn it over now to the greatest wrestler known today. The main he can brawl. The man has the best technical skill. The future of wrestling. Mr. Roddy Piper.

Roddy Piper: Lance Russell, the British Invasion is here and we are taking over! I just got off the phone with AWA President Stanly Blackburn and I am the new number one contender for the AWA Heavyweight Championship. I will wrestle and defeat Hulk Hogan on Christmas night. That’s right people. Not you’re pretend King, Jerry Lawler but little old me will be the next AWA Champion. After that, I will return to Memphis to enter the tournament for the first ever CWA Champion and I will win that belt to. The British Commonwealth is about to rule the American wrestling scene.




Lance Russell: Well you can never guess what is going to happen next here on CWA wrestling. Piper might be the next AWA champion and the Sheepherders have been reunited and will be here next week in studio.






Lance Russell: I am sorry Mr. Ladd but we do not have you scheduled at this time. In fact, I do not see you scheduled at all this evening.

Ernie Ladd: Shut up Russell and listen. What was that nonsense I saw a little while ago? Team Sweet Dreams! That is a bunch of bull and you know. Everyone here should be smart enough to know exactly who has been attacking my army!

Lance Russell: I can honestly tell you, I for one do not.

Ernie Ladd: That would be a first. A white man talking honestly to a black man. I already told you once to shut up. Troy Graham get out from under that mask and fight for real. You think because you have some friends like JYD and Tony Atlas that we are going to just run away. Well brother, you have another thing coming. Next, who does Ed Marlin think he is? Just sanctioning a match for me against Andre the Dummy. Does he think that scares me? Does he think I will run away just because it is Andre the Dummy? He must be out of his mind. Andre the Dummy made the dumbest mistake of his career. Call me out in Memphis and now I am going to lay you out with a Big Boot to the side of your head you Big Dummy. Just wait to see the Big Dummy fall one day after Christmas.
Also, my army continue to grow each and every day. You said earlier tonight that Big Red Reese and King Cobra left because of this punk called The Dream Machine. They didn’t leave. I sent them to do battle on another front. If and when I want them back, they will be here in a minutes notice. I have also added Norvell Austin to the cause. That’s right the former member of the great tag team, The Midnight Express. He and Porkchop Cash will form a new tag team called The Midnight Bruise Brothers and they will dominate the CWA tag division.
Like the name Troy Graham? You used to be the loser half of the Bruise Brothers. Now I added the Black Panther and put him with Cash! Total Black Power. Total wrestling domination. Forget the little girls you call the Rock N Roll Express. Forget the Sheep Doers that Foley was talking about. The Midnight Bruise Brothers will be the next champions. This rat invested city of Memphis needs Ladd’s Army. Your politicians and police officers have gotten away with too much for too long. Memphis needs my army and so does CWA. Just because Tony Atlas and two cowards hiding under masks show up and call us out you think Black Power is defeated. Well you got another thing coming. Tell um Hacksaw!

Hacksaw Butch Reed: Atlas, you think you flexing out here in front of these morons will intimidate me. I am here anytime you want. Ladd is fighting for a cause and you Uncle Tom won’t stand up for it. Forget that you are looking for me brother. I am looking for you. Next, Rowdy Roddy Piper. You skirt wearing sissy. If you think I am going to let you or any other pathetic wrestler here in Memphis win that tournament for the CWA Heavyweight Championship, you got another thing comin. But most important, I was just informed that at Starrcade on Christmas Night I will be defending my NWA Mid-American Title against that loser Austin Idol. I have already busted him open twice before and I can’t wait to do it again. This time it will be at the biggest NWA show of the year in Greensboro, North Carolina. What a time to be Hacksaw Butch Reed.



Lance Russell: Wow, what an honor for Hacksaw Reed! To defend his title at Starrcade! He better be ready. We will be right back after this break with our Main Event.

Lance Russell: Let’s get back to the ring for our Main Event.

MATCH #3: AUSTIN IDOL VS MOONDOG MORETTTI

Moondog Moretti has come to the ring in a really foul mood. He has yet to get over losing his NWA MID-AMERICAN TAG TITLES and is yelling and screaming at all the fans on the way to the ring. He is in full attire which includes a studded dog collar and studded wrist guards. Ref Jerry Calhoun demands he removes these which he reluctantly does. Austin Idol, dressed in a diamond studded vest and a bright green beret, struts his way to the ring carrying a bottle a champagne while YOU WANT TO TOUCH ME by Joan Jett bares through the speakers. He makes a quick stop at the interview desk on his way to the ring.

Austin Idol: Lance, would you mind holding this for me.



Lance Russell: Well I guess not.



Ding. Ding. Ding.

As the match gets under way, Moretti charges at Idol and catches him playing with the fans. Moretti stays on top of Idol for the first few minutes with a series of punches and elbows. After a huge powerslam by the 315 pound Moretti, he just missed the 3 count. Idol was able to kick out and rolled to the floor to get a breather. This will teach him to be ready when the bell rings. Idol catches Moretti with a shoulder block on his way back in the ring. From there Idol was all business. Idol beat Moretti pretty good for 3 or 4 minutes and then caught Moretti in a sleeper and that was all she wrote.

Austin Idol defeated Moondog Moretti by submission at 9:32.



Lance Russell: Congratulations on your victory tonight. That Moondog Moretti is one tough hombre. We are quickly running out of time tonight but I must ask. What is the champagne bottle for?

Austin Idol: What do you think it is for? The Universal Heartthrob, Austin Idol is ready to celebrate. Ready to party! In just a few weeks, all the ladies will be running up to the limos asking to take a ride! A wild ride Lance if you know what I mean. In just a few short days, my buddy, Jerry “The King” Lawler will be the AWA World Champion. Celebration #1! It will be a wild night. That same night, the NWA got it right. It is Hack Butch Reed vs the beautiful one. Yours truly for the NWA Mid-American Title. Celebration #2! And then, CWA is holding a tournament to crown the first ever CWA Champion. Two large Asian wrestlers attack Idol from behind. The first one turns Idol around and blinds him with some type of green mist. They continue to chop and kick at him until he is a bloody mess. One of the wrestlers scoops him up not once but twice and hits him with two big suplexes right on the concrete floor.>

Lance Russell: "Hello again, everybody! Lance Russell and Dave Brown here again for CWA Wrestling in Memphis, TN. Let’s get right to our first segment, “This Week in the CWA.” Dave take it away.

 

Dave Brown: Well thank you Lance and great to be with you and all the wrestling fans here in the CWA. Since our last show in late November so much has happened so let’s get everybody caught up on the going-ons here in the CWA. First let’s start with a few major announcements from our President of the CWA, Mr. Ed Marlin.

 

1. First of all, after a lot of wheeling and dealing, the CWA has bought the rights to control the wrestling scene in the great state of Arkansas. CWA will now run shows in such wonderful cities as Little Rock, Jonesboro and Fayetteville. We will also be seen each and every Saturday night on KARK Channel 4 out of Little Rock, Arkansas. Since the area we will now be covering is growing by leaps and bounds, the travel schedule was also in need of repair. So, in order to provide our fans with the best quality, the schedule will be as follows. Every Monday night we will still be at the Mid-South Coliseum. The CWA will then go on tour every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Each week will travel to a different state. One week will be Arkansas followed by Mississippi followed by Tennessee and then to Kentucky. For those great fans in the area who want to see us right here in studio, our TV tapings will now be at 7:00 pm every Tuesday night. Each of our affiliates will be able to choose the best time slot on when to show it.

 

2. Also being added to the great list of CWA cities will be Chattanooga, TN, Knoxville, TN and Hattiesburg, Mississippi.

 

3. The CWA, while still being loyal participants in both the AWA and the NWA will now have their own champion. The Continental Heavyweight Champion will be the most important title in our promotion and the first ever champion will be crowned next month in the Mid-South Coliseum. We will also retain The AWA Southern Heavyweight Championship and the NWA Mid-American Heavyweight Championship. More information on the tournament to crown a new champion will be given in the coming weeks. I will also give additional information on Lars Anderson and the defunct CWA Television Title.

 

 

2. CHAMPIONS ROLL CALL

 

 

AWA SOUTHERN HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION: JERRY “THE KING” LAWLER

Jerry Lawler continues to have success defending his title here in the CWA. In late November, he had been taking on many of the current and former members of Sir Oliver Humperdink’s stable including Stan Hansen and Plowboy Frazier. Lawler did manage to escape each time with his title. In more recent times, Lawler has been challenged by a member of JR Foley’s Commonwealth, Rowdy Roddy Piper. This may prove to be his toughest challenge to date as Piper is capable of anything.

Lawler still has a loftier goal in mind. He wants to be World Champion. He has recently wrestled AWA World Champion, Hulk Hogan to a 30 minute time draw and also wrestled NWA World Heavyweight Champion, Harley Race. In December, he will make a couple of appearances in the AWA while champion Hulk Hogan is touring Japan. He is hoping to endear himself to AWA President, Stanly Blackburn and earn another title shot with Hogan. If he can keep the Southern Heavyweight title away from Piper until December 26^th, he will earn another title shot with Race. Race will be in the Mid-South Coliseum that night to face whoever is the Southern Heavyweight Champion.

 

AWA SOUTHERN TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS: The Rock n Roll Express:

After defeating Sir Oliver Humperdink’s team, The Japanese Assassins in a scaffold match in the Mid-South Coliseum, the Rock n Roll express are waiting to see which CWA team will become the new #1 contenders. They already have a major opponent lined up for the Super Card at the Mid-South Coliseum on December 26^th. That’s right folks, you heard it here first, Afa and Sika, the Wild Samoans are coming to town in an attempt to capture the AWA Southern Tag Team Titles.

Just like Jerry Lawler, The Rock n Roll Express are hoping to become World Champions. They already have a clean victory over the AWA World Champion, Road Warriors but that was to regain their Southern Titles which they had at first lost to the Road Warriors the night before. Robert Gibson and Ricky Morton traveled with Jerry Lawler on December 2^nd and December 9^th to the AWA trying to showcase their talents and earn another world title shot.

 

NWA MID-AMERICAN CHAMPION: “Hacksaw” Butch Reed

Butch Reed is despised by the fans here in the CWA as he is a member of Ernie Ladd’s Army. Ladd had been insulting the people of the area with his version of “Civil Rights” for months and his racist rhetoric has upset almost everybody. While he is not well liked, nobody can take away Butch Reed’s ability or his willingness to fight anybody. In his short time as champion, he has feuded with both Austin Idol and Bruiser Brody and has come out on top each and every time. He has also been in a bit of a tag team war with other members of the Army against the likes of Troy Graham, Junk Yard Dog and Mr. Wrestling II. Any one of those 5 wrestlers would love another shot at the Mid-American Title. We will just have to wait and see what happens next for Reed.

 

NWA Mid-American Tag Team Title: Jules Strongbow and Mark Youngblood:

This title was formerly the Mississippi Valley Tag Team Title and was held by Hacksaw Higgins and Moondog Moretti. To better the relationship between the CWA and the NWA, the title was renamed the NWA Mid-American Tag Title. This would give both the AWA and the NWA one singles title and one tag title in this promotion.

In terms of the title holders, Strongbow and Youngblood had been feuding with Moondog Moretti and Hacksaw Higgins for the past couple of weeks. It seemed the Moretti and Higgins did not respect the accomplishments of Strongbow and Youngblood in other wrestling promotions nor did they respect the Indian culture. Strongbow and Youngblood never backed down and were able to defeat the champions in a match in Boonesville, Mississippi. Strongbow was able to catch Moretti in a Gory Special, a back to back backbreaker to gain the victory by submission. In a rematch for the title, Youngblood nailed Moretti with a back body drop and gained the 1..2..3…

 

LARS ANDERSON AND THE TV TITLE?

The CWA Board of Directors have decided to discontinue the Television Title. This is due in part to wanting to have more title matches available for the fans at none televised venues and in part due to the disappearance of the TV champ, Lars Anderson. Lars became the first ever CWA television champion and shortly after that his brother Gene appeared. The two brought back the Minnesota Wrecking Crew tag team and Lars was doing double duty with great success. All of a sudden, his other brother, Ole, appears in CWA and says he is after Lars for leaving him high and dry in a match in Georgia a few years ago against Ivan Koloff and Alexis Smirnoff. Lars refused to fight Ole saying he would not be good for the family to air their differences in front of the world. Ole did not except this and attacked Lars every opportunity he had. As Ole predicted, Lars seems to have run away again. Ole has also left the CWA and is in search of more revenge on Lars. Bill Ash also seems to left in search of another tag partner as

3. Major Roster changes:

First of all, Sir Oliver Humperdink and his House of Humperdink is in shambles. The Japanese Assassins, Magic Dragon and Goro Tsurami were injured at the hands of the Rock n Roll Express in their Scaffold Match at the Mid-South Coliseum. They have both returned to Japan to seek medical attention for undisclosed injuries. When and if they return to the Memphis area has not yet been determined. Humperdink has also lost his other two main cogs in his stable. First, Sabu has made a decision to leave CWA to wrestle in another promotion. He cites Humperdink as the cause. He says Humperdink used him to do the tough work but never gave him the respect he deserved. Plowboy Stan Frazier turned on Humperdink in a match on December 10^th when Humperdink and his new sidekick, Tojo Yamamoto decided to attack Austin Idol. Frazier was upset and the comments by Tojo and said enough was enough. Humperdink might be willing to sell his soul to the devil but Frazier could not back anyone who supported Yamamoto.

2. Tojo Yamamoto: Tojo had been by the side of Humperdink the last few weeks and everyone was wondering if he was a new member of the House of Humperdink. It turns out that Tojo was just helping his old friend while he waited for his managerial license to be granted here in the CWA. President Ed Marlin did grant that license this past week and now Tojo will be bringing in his new stable of destruction known as the Shogunate to the CWA.

3. Where does this leave Sir Oliver Humperdink? Well right now it leaves him with an empty house but he claims that he will be back better than ever. In fact, he will reveal one of his new members to us here tonight.

4. As if the tag team division was not already tough enough. The Commonwealth under the guide of JR Foley has traded Lumberjack Pierre to another member of the NWA for Luke Williams. That’s right folks, the original Sheepherders are back together. Luke Williams and Butch Miller have been reunited and that can only spell trouble for the likes of the Rock n Roll Express.

Ernie Ladd and his Army:

· Except for Hacksaw Reed, Ladd’s Army has not seen much success in the past few weeks. In fact, two members, King Cobra and Big Red Reese have left. This is in part due to a masked wrestler he takes every opportunity to attack any member of Ladd’s army that he can. This masked man has used chairs, brass knuckles and any other weapons that are available to him. King Cobra and Reese were able to corner him once and gain a little revenge and left him bloody but were not able to reveal his identity. Ladd swears to one and all that he knows who this masked man is and he will reveal his identity tonight. Ladd wasted no time in adding a new face to his army. He brought in 23 time champion, the Black Panther himself, Norvell Austin. This former member of the Midnight Express will be teamed with Porkchop Cash as they form the Midnight Bruise Brothers.

 

· The Army is also struggling to deal with the likes of Junk Yard Dog and Mr. Wresting II. JYD appeared on the scene as he was upset at Ladd for calling anyone he disagreed with a racist or Uncle Tom. JYD wanted to restore the improved relationship between the white and black population in this region and thought that his idea of respect would go a long way. He defeated Ladd on numerous occasions but the numbers were always against him. He would defeat Ladd but then the rest of the army was just too much. The Dog brought in his old buddy, Mr. Wrestling II, and together they have Ladd’s Army in running for cover. Ladd recently called in some re-enforcements. Let’s see where this all goes. With a group that already includes Porkchop Cash, Butch Reed and Ernie Ladd and then you add Norvell Austin, they are a force to be reckoned with.

 

· RULE CHANGE: The CWA and its Board of Directors has decided to legalize the piledriver.

 

Lance Russell: “Wow Dave some amazing happening here in the CWA. What a show we have tonight but before we get to the ring, we need to take a quick break.

Sir Oliver Humperdink: Shut up Pencil Nose. What do you know? My stable of wrestlers is at an all-time high. I will control the CWA in a very short time.

 

Lance Russell: That is news to me. Ah, the last time I checked, your stable is empty. The Japanese Assassins have returned to Japan, Tojo Yamamoto has asked for and been granted his Managerial License and Plowboy Frazier was so outraged by your behavior that he has left you.

 

Sir Oliver Humperdink: Little do you know. Oh how little do you know. My source of wealth is so massive that as one leaves I just buy new and better talent. Did you see those cowards, The Japanese Assassins in the scaffold match against the Rock n Roll Express? They better have returned to Japan or else they would have felt my wrath. I cannot stomach their lack of heart. They are pathetic and very, very replaceable. As for Plowboy Frazier. That fat no good traitor. I will spend every waken moment obtaining two goals. First, to control ALL CHAMPIONSHIPS here in the CWA and the second will be to rid this promotion on FAT DOUGHBOY FRAZIER. As for Tojo Yamamoto, I have no hard feelings. He is a true champion and a great man. I am sure that he will do a wonderful job as a manager.

 

Lance Russell: So you do in fact have a new stable of wrestlers.

 

Sir Oliver Humperdink: I have spent a massive amount of money and over the next 3 or 4 weeks you will see the great stable that I have amassed. In fact, right now, I will escort my newest member of the House of Humperdink to the ring and you will see total destruction. The fans here in Memphis will be in awe of the viciousness of my new wrestler.

 

Lance Russell: Well fans, let’s see Sir Oliver Humperdink’s new wrestler

 

MATCH #1: Buzz Sawyer with Sir Oliver Humperdink vs Mike Jackson

 

Mike Jackson is a newcomer to the CWA but he gets a warm welcome by the fans because they already know that he will be against Sir Oliver Humperdink and his new man. They know very little of Buzz Sawyer but he is yelling, screaming and barking on his way to the ring but that is only the half of it. Humperdink is actually leading him to the ring by a dog chain attached to a dog collar. This man truly is a Mad Dog. Sawyer is not a tall man at 5’11 but he is well built at 240 pounds. As the bell sounds, he charges at Mike Jackson and just overwhelms him with power and speed. This match is a total squash that shows Sawyer is a maniacal maniac. He rips at Jackson’s face and bites him several times in the head. After an Irish Whip he hits a huge powerslam. As ref Jerry Calhoun begins the count, Humperdink yells at Sawyer who picks up Jackson and continues the beating. This time, he climbs to the top rope and soars through the air and nails Jackson with a massive death leap. Humperdink allows the 3 count this time and then he rushes into the ring and quickly attaches the dog chain to Sawyer’s collar and leads the barking maniac to the locker room. Some of those in the TV audience seem afraid as Sawyer passes by.

Lance Russell: Well that Sawyer is not playing with a full deck but neither is his manager. I wonder what else Humperdink has instore for us over the next few weeks. Next on today’s program is an interview with someone called the Dream Machine? I am not sure who this and am a little in the dark as to who my next guess is going to be.

 

 

Lance Russell: Well, well well. My next guest, who is calling himself the Dream Machine is none other than the masked man who has been terrorizing Ernie Ladd’s Army over the past two weeks.

 

The Dream Machine: That’s right Lance. It is time. It is time to reveal myself to the fans and to introduce my goal. I have been listening to Ladd and his nonsense for too long now. I can’t take it no longer. Our fans need someone to stand up for what is right. Ladd is only about Ladd and tries to come off as some Civil Rights leader. He is not a leader. He is a gangster. He steals. He assaults. Then he claims that he is the victim. He claims black power. We have seen in recent weeks JYD, a beloved black wrestler proclaim that Ladd is a fake. Today I would like to introduce to you my partners in the organization known as Sweet Dreams.

 

 

Lance Russell: My oh My. If it is none other than Tony Atlas. I must admit that I am not familiar with your other partner.

 

Tony Atlas: Lance Russell, this is Sweet Brown Sugar. My good friend JYD called me and told me that Ladd is at it again up in Memphis and that the Dream Machine here was fighting back. I know Ladd. Have known him for a while. He is a snake and he don’t every change. I know that he never fights fair. It is always 2 on1 or 3 on 2. Well guess what, the odds are now in our favor. Reed, you think you are all big and bad. Well take a look at these.

 

 

Atlas: That’s right Reed. You are no longer the strongest around. I am coming for you. And the man to my right may be called Sweet but he is the greatest athlete you have ever seen.

 

Sweet Brown Sugar: Thank you for the kind words Tony. I am happy to be here. I am happy to defend the future of America. If this country is going to continue to succeed, we need to find a way to get along. People like Ladd and his puppets are trying to pull us into the gutter but I will allow it. Dream Machine, Atlas and Myself are here to bring you a brighter future. Ladd, beware. We are coming for you. You won’t know where. You won’t now when but trust me brotha, we will get you!

 

 

Lance Russell: Well this is very interesting. It seems like we have a war brewing here. I also have a bit of information for you folks. It seems that Ladd’s behavior has prompted a story in the most recent edition of Pro Wrestling Illustrated. The article questions if anyone can stop Ernie and his band of followers. Well it seems these men who were just out here are going to try. President Ed Marlin got a call this morning from someone else he is going to try and put an end to Ladd. That’s right folks, the 8^th Wonder of the World is on his way to Memphis and the CWA has already sanctioned a match at the Mid-South Coliseum for December 26^th with Andre the Giant taking on Ernie Ladd! What a night of action that is going to be. We need to take a break before we get to our next match.

 

 

 

Lance Russell: Well let’s get back to the ring for some tag team action. This will be the first time we are seeing the team known as the Kansas Jayhawks in action.

 

Match #2: The Kansas Jayhawks vs Ted Allen and Roy Lee Welch

 

The speakers begin to blare “My heroes have always been Cowboys by Willie Nelson as the Jayhawks make their way to the ring. As soon as the contestants walk out to the ring, the crowd realizes that “Dirty” Dutch Mantell” is one of the members of the Kansas Jayhawks. Mantell, and his partner, Bobby Jaggers come to the ring wearing black cowboy hats and carrying bull whips. The crowd remembers how dirty Dutch can be from his last stint in Memphis. The match is not a complete squash match as both Allen and Welch have some very good technical skill but in the end, Mantell and Jaggers prove to be just too much. The match ends when Mantell hits Welch with a huge leaping elbow to the mid-section. A quick tag to Jaggers for a top rope elbow drop and that was all she wrote.

Lance Russell: Well Dutch. We have not seen you in these parts in over a year. What brings you back?

 

Dutch Mantell: First of all, the man standing next to me is “The Hangman,” Bobby Jaggers. He is a 13 time champion including the Florida Heavyweight Title holder. We are here for one reason and one reason only. We are going to take those NWA Mid-American Tag Belts. We are sick and tired of what has been going on around here.

 

Bobby Jaggers: You got that right. While we have not been in Memphis, word travels in this industry. You have two Indians running around here talking heritage this and tradition that! It’s all a bunch of nonsense. Remember one thing you losers. You are sitting there on your reservations because you LOST to the United States. This war will be no different. You will lose again. This time to the Kansas Jayhawks. We are going to take those stupid headdresses and ram them down your throats and take your belts at the same time.

 

 

Lance Russell: Well what else would you expect from Dutch Mantell and whoever he is with but I will tell you something. When Dutch sets his mind to things you can usually bring it to the bank. This is a situation we will have to keep our eye on.

 

 

 

Lance Russell: I have heard that you are now in control of one of the greatest tag teams of our generation. Luke Williams is here in Memphis and has rejoined his former partner Butch Miller.

 

JR FOLEY: That’s right Mr. Russell. I am not taking anything away from Lumberjack Pierre. He and Butch were having great success here but Butch called Luke back in New Zealand and rang my praises. Butch told Luke that together, the Commonwealth can rule wrestling. Luke is like a brother to Butch and trusted every word. Luke is in route right now and make no mistake about it. The Sheepherders are about to begin a reign a terror the CWA tag team division has never scene. They will make their CWA debut right here on TV next Saturday. Uneducated people of Memphis, get ready to see domination. Save your money. Maybe you don’t eat too many grits this week and buy a ticket to the studio show. You will see something you will never forget. I would like to turn it over now to the greatest wrestler known today. The main he can brawl. The man has the best technical skill. The future of wrestling. Mr. Roddy Piper.

 

Roddy Piper: Lance Russell, the British Invasion is here and we are taking over! I just got off the phone with AWA President Stanly Blackburn and I am the new number one contender for the AWA Heavyweight Championship. I will wrestle and defeat Hulk Hogan on Christmas night. That’s right people. Not you’re pretend King, Jerry Lawler but little old me will be the next AWA Champion. After that, I will return to Memphis to enter the tournament for the first ever CWA Champion and I will win that belt to. The British Commonwealth is about to rule the American wrestling scene.

 

 

 

Lance Russell: Well you can never guess what is going to happen next here on CWA wrestling. Piper might be the next AWA champion and the Sheepherders have been reunited and will be here next week in studio.

 

 

 

Lance Russell: I am sorry Mr. Ladd but we do not have you scheduled at this time. In fact, I do not see you scheduled at all this evening.

 

Ernie Ladd: Shut up Russell and listen. What was that nonsense I saw a little while ago? Team Sweet Dreams! That is a bunch of bull and you know. Everyone here should be smart enough to know exactly who has been attacking my army!

 

Lance Russell: I can honestly tell you, I for one do not.

 

Ernie Ladd: That would be a first. A white man talking honestly to a black man. I already told you once to shut up. Troy Graham get out from under that mask and fight for real. You think because you have some friends like JYD and Tony Atlas that we are going to just run away. Well brother, you have another thing coming. Next, who does Ed Marlin think he is? Just sanctioning a match for me against Andre the Dummy. Does he think that scares me? Does he think I will run away just because it is Andre the Dummy? He must be out of his mind. Andre the Dummy made the dumbest mistake of his career. Call me out in Memphis and now I am going to lay you out with a Big Boot to the side of your head you Big Dummy. Just wait to see the Big Dummy fall one day after Christmas.

Also, my army continue to grow each and every day. You said earlier tonight that Big Red Reese and King Cobra left because of this punk called The Dream Machine. They didn’t leave. I sent them to do battle on another front. If and when I want them back, they will be here in a minutes notice. I have also added Norvell Austin to the cause. That’s right the former member of the great tag team, The Midnight Express. He and Porkchop Cash will form a new tag team called The Midnight Bruise Brothers and they will dominate the CWA tag division.

Like the name Troy Graham? You used to be the loser half of the Bruise Brothers. Now I added the Black Panther and put him with Cash! Total Black Power. Total wrestling domination. Forget the little girls you call the Rock N Roll Express. Forget the Sheep Doers that Foley was talking about. The Midnight Bruise Brothers will be the next champions. This rat invested city of Memphis needs Ladd’s Army. Your politicians and police officers have gotten away with too much for too long. Memphis needs my army and so does CWA. Just because Tony Atlas and two cowards hiding under masks show up and call us out you think Black Power is defeated. Well you got another thing coming. Tell um Hacksaw!

 

Hacksaw Butch Reed: Atlas, you think you flexing out here in front of these morons will intimidate me. I am here anytime you want. Ladd is fighting for a cause and you Uncle Tom won’t stand up for it. Forget that you are looking for me brother. I am looking for you. Next, Rowdy Roddy Piper. You skirt wearing sissy. If you think I am going to let you or any other pathetic wrestler here in Memphis win that tournament for the CWA Heavyweight Championship, you got another thing comin. But most important, I was just informed that at Starrcade on Christmas Night I will be defending my NWA Mid-American Title against that loser Austin Idol. I have already busted him open twice before and I can’t wait to do it again. This time it will be at the biggest NWA show of the year in Greensboro, North Carolina. What a time to be Hacksaw Butch Reed.

MATCH #3: AUSTIN IDOL VS MOONDOG MORETTTI

 

Moondog Moretti has come to the ring in a really foul mood. He has yet to get over losing his NWA MID-AMERICAN TAG TITLES and is yelling and screaming at all the fans on the way to the ring. He is in full attire which includes a studded dog collar and studded wrist guards. Ref Jerry Calhoun demands he removes these which he reluctantly does. Austin Idol, dressed in a diamond studded vest and a bright green beret, struts his way to the ring carrying a bottle a champagne while YOU WANT TO TOUCH ME by Joan Jett bares through the speakers. He makes a quick stop at the interview desk on his way to the ring.

 

Austin Idol: Lance, would you mind holding this for me.

 

 

Lance Russell: Well I guess not.

 

 

Ding. Ding. Ding.

 

As the match gets under way, Moretti charges at Idol and catches him playing with the fans. Moretti stays on top of Idol for the first few minutes with a series of punches and elbows. After a huge powerslam by the 315 pound Moretti, he just missed the 3 count. Idol was able to kick out and rolled to the floor to get a breather. This will teach him to be ready when the bell rings. Idol catches Moretti with a shoulder block on his way back in the ring. From there Idol was all business. Idol beat Moretti pretty good for 3 or 4 minutes and then caught Moretti in a sleeper and that was all she wrote.

 

Austin Idol defeated Moondog Moretti by submission at 9:32.

 

 

Lance Russell: Congratulations on your victory tonight. That Moondog Moretti is one tough hombre. We are quickly running out of time tonight but I must ask. What is the champagne bottle for?

Two large Asian wrestlers attack Idol from behind. The first one turns Idol around and blinds him with some type of green mist. They continue to chop and kick at him until he is a bloody mess. One of the wrestlers scoops him up not once but twice and hits him with two big suplexes right on the concrete floor.>

Lance Russell: "Hello again, everybody! Lance Russell and Dave Brown here again for CWA Wrestling in Memphis, TN. Let’s get right to our first segment, “This Week in the CWA.” Dave take it away.

 

Dave Brown: Well thank you Lance and great to be with you and all the wrestling fans here in the CWA. For once, it has been a pretty quiet week. All eyes are pointing to the huge Super Card the day after Christmas at the Mid-South Coliseum. The entire card will be set and presented to you by the end of tonight’s show.

 

WRESTLER OF THE WEEK: BUZZ SAWYER

Sawyer was 3-0 this week. The way he destroyed Mike Jackson, Roy Lee Welch and Plowboy Frazier was remarkable. He was so intense and aggressive that they fans did not know what to make of him He barked and growled, foamed at the mouth and truly seemed to enjoy hurting his opponents.

 

MATCH OF THE WEEK: Buzz Sawyer vs Plowboy Frazier in Little Rock, Arkansas.

 

This match was the match of the week not because of how competitive it was but because of how uncompetitive it was. Nobody had every manhandled the 6’10, 475 pound Frazier in such a way as Sawyer did. He was just so aggressive that Frazier could not figure out where he was coming from. Once Sawyer got him on the ground, it was all over. Frazier claims he will be back and is not intimidated by Sawyer. He still wants revenge on the House of Humperdink which he was a former member.

 

As I said Lance, a bit of a quiet week but tonight will be some show with the Main Event being Sweet Dreams vs The Midnight Bruise Brothers. That’s right. The Dream Machine and Sweet Brown Sugar will face Porkchop Cash and Norvell Austin.

 

Lance Russell: “Wow Dave, that’s a great main event for our TV Studio Audience and thanks for tonight’s report. We have a very busy show tonight but before we get to the ring, let’s bring in the Rock n Roll Express.

 

 

Lance Russell: Well it has been a while since we have seen you in our television studio. In fact, I have not had a chance to congratulate on your win from November 28^th in the Mid-South Coliseum and your Scaffold Match against the Japanese Assassins.

 

Robert Gibson: Well thank you Lance, and it is great to be back in Memphis. We have been in the AWA trying to earn a World Title Shot.

 

Lance Russell: Well the CWA has yet to name a new number one contender for your title but have you heard the Sheepherders will be here in studio tonight.

 

Ricky Morton: We did here that and we have had our wars with them before all over the United States and we will be ready for them again but there are other great teams here in the CWA like Sweet Dreams, The Midnight Bruise Brothers and the Kansas Jayhawks. We will just have to see who the CWA Board of Directors names as the new number one contenders. Right now, we have a non-title match against the Nightmares and we can’t wait to show our fans what The Rock n Roll Express is all about.

 

Match #1: The Rock n Roll Express vs The Nightmares

The Nightmares are new to the CWA and they are very mysterious in their black masks. The Rock n Roll Express make their way to the ring shaking hands with the fans on their way. As far as the match goes, the Nightmares performed well. Nightmare #1 actually hit Robert Gibson with a flying cross bodyblock and went for his finisher, a diving leg drop off the top rope. He just missed connecting and this was the opening the RnR Express needed. Gibson tagged in Morton and it was high speed, flying action all over the ring. Morton was cleaning house and then tagged back in Gibson. An Irish Whip followed by a double flying dropkick and that was all she wrote.

 

The Rock N Roll Express defeat the Nightmares in 5:12.

 

As the Nightmares head back to the locker room, the Rock n Roll Express celebrate with their fans. From out of nowhere comes Sir Oliver Humperdink leading the Wild Samoans. The Samoans blindside the RnR Express and beat them from pillar to post. Headbutts, chops, sidekicks followed by Samoan Drops on both Gibson and Morton leave the champs sprawled all over the ring. All the while, Humperdink was screaming at them to continue the beating. Officials and a few jobbers rush from the back to try to restore order.

 

 

Lance Russell: Well Humperdink, is this another of the new additions to your stable?

 

Sir Oliver Humperdink: Shut up Pencil Nose. Afa and Sika have not been in Memphis since 1981 and if you morons here tonight remember, they caused total destruction when they were here. Well I spent a lot of money for their services over the next few days. They are on loan for one reason. To bring me the AWA Southern Tag Team Titles.

 

Lance Russell: I am not sure if you just heard the interview with the Rock N Roll Express. I guess you did not as you must have been getting your goons ready for a sneak attack.

 

Sir Oliver Humperdink: I told you once to shut up!

 

Lance Russell: Well this is one time you might want to hear what I have to say. The CWA has yet to name a new number one contender for the tag titles. So it seems you spent a lot of money for nothing. There will not be a Sothern Tag Title match for some time.

 

Sir Oliver Humperdink: You are just so ignorant. When did you say that the scaffold match was against my Japanese Assassins was?

 

Lance Russell: November 28^th.

 

Sir Oliver Humperdink: That is correct. And by CWA rules, the Rock n Roll Express must defend their titles every 30 days. We are fast approaching that day. This morning, I spoke to President Ed Marlin and reminded him of this fact. I also informed him that I had acquired the services of the Wild Samoans for a few days. I reminded him of their greatness and their familiarity with the fans of Memphis. For once he saw the light and also the dollar signs. He knows what a match between the Rock n Roll Express and The Wild Samoans will do to the income of this company. He signed an AWA Southern Tag Team Championship match between these two teams for December 26^th at the Mid-South Coliseum.

 

 

Lance Russell: We will have to take a break and regain control of tonight’s show.

Two years ago in Las Angeles, California I beat him for the victory. The big Dummy seems to forget that when you talk to him. For years I followed Andre the Dummy around and entered a few Battle Royals against him. Who won Andre the Dummy? I did. I knocked you around that ring you big dummy. Andre the Dummy thinks I am going to run and hide on Monday night. Andre the Dummy has another thing coming. I am going to knock Andre the Dummy upside his head. I am going to stomp on his ugly face. Monday night, Andre the Dummy will fall. After Monday night, I will turn my complete attention to that punk Troy Graham or The Dream Machine as he is now calling himself!

 

 

Lance Russell: Well he is very opinionated. Let’s see if he is that outspoken Monday when he is standing across the ring from Andre the Giant. Speaking of a man who is very opinionated, let’s bring in JR Foley and the members of the Commonwealth.

 

 

Lance Russell: JR Foley, you seem to have accomplished what you said. Butch Miller and Luke Williams have reunited under your control.

 

JR FOLEY: That’s right Russell. These wrestling starved fans here in Memphis will now see what a real tag team is going to look like. Mark my words, the Sheepherders will reign terror over this organization and will soon be the AWA Southern Tag Team Champs. This will be proven in just a minute with their first match together in quite some time. Fans, make sure you treat these champions with the respect they deserve.

 

 

JR Foley: And speaking of future champs. The man to my right will be the AWA Heavyweight champion in just two days. Tell him Hot Rod!

 

Roddy Piper: Hulk Hogan. Big Hulk Hogan. I have been warned. The Hulkster is just too big. The Hulkster can’t be beaten. Run while you can. Let me tell ya something. Roddy Piper has never run from anyone. Especially a big oaf like Hogan. The bigger they are, the harder they fall. Hogan and his mighty 24 inch pythons has never had to wrestle anyone like me. He thinks we are going to have a wrestling match. Forget about that Brotha! Hogan is going to war. A war of the mind. Once I win that, it will be easy beating him for the belt. Now fans, sit back and be afraid. Very afraid! Your American champ, Hulk Hogan is about to find out what it would be like if he had to fight the superior non-American wrestlers. The British Empire has saved the butt of this country on many occasions and now I will save the American Wrestling Industry!

 

JR Foley: Let’s now all sit back and watch the destruction by the Sheepherders begin.

 

MATCH #2: The Sheepherders vs Pat Rose and Brett Wayne

 

From Pillar to Post, inside and outside, the Sheepherders just beat Rose and Wayne from the opening bell. There is no resemblance of a wrestling match here. It is just an all-out beating by the Sheepherders. After only a few minutes, both Wayne and Rose are a bloody mess. The match ends with a battering ram by using Butch Miller’s head as the ram.

 

The Sheepherders win in 3:27.

 

Lance Russell: Oh my. I am unsure who will be able to handle the Sheepherders. That includes The Samoans and The Rock n Roll Express. That was just violent and angry. I must say I am both amazed and frightened at the same time and the violence of the Sheepherders. We will be right back after this message.

 

 

 

 

Lance Russell: Well last week, The Kansas Jayhawks had some pretty nasty words for you two.

 

Jules Strongbow: If Dirty Dutch and Bobby Jaggers think they can insult our heritage and that they are just going to walk in here and take our titles, they got another thing coming.

 

Mark Youngblood: They think they are going to make us eat our Native American Headdresses. I mean come on. We are proud people. These headdresses are a symbol of our culture and a symbol of the pride we have in that culture. Even to say those remarks have angered our entire nation. It is our job to stand up for the people who have pride in our culture. Anytime the CWA deems they deserve a title shot, we will grant one but mark my words, they will be eating their own cowboy hats as we use their own bull whip across every inch of their bodies.

 

Match #3: Jules Strongbow and Mark Youngblood vs Gary Royal and Mike Jackson

 

The match was a good match with some back and forth action until Jules Strongbow caught Gary Royal with a powerbomb. As Ref Jerry Calhoun began the 3 count, The Kansas Jayhawks hit the ring and started whipping Strongbow and Youngblood with their bull ropes. Mike Jackson tried to step in and help the champs but he got bull whipped for his troubles as well. With both Strongbow and Youngblood rolling on the canvas in pain, Dutch Mantel and the Hangman, Bobby Jaggers quickly climbed to the top rope and leaped off connecting with huge flying elbows. The champs were flat on their backs and out of it. The Kansas Jayhawks stood over their victims and taunted them. After a few seconds of verbal abuse, they spit tobacco juice all over their faces and then exited to the locker room. Mike Jackson comes back in and tends to the champs.

 

Referee Jerry Calhoun declared this match a No Contest.

 

Lance Russell: What else could we expect from Dirty Dutch Mantell and his new partner, Bobby Jaggers? This will not be the end of this though. I guarantee you that. Well let’s get right back to the ring for our next match.

 

MATCH 4: Pvt. Don Kernoodle vs Hacksaw Higgins:

 

A very equal match. The fans were behind Kernoodle here partly because they just don’t like Higgins but also because he came out waving an American flag and seemed to stand for what they believe in. Good old American values and hard work. It looked like Higgins was on the verge of winning but Kernoodle narrowly escaped a huge legdrop that would have spelled the end for him. Kernoodle quickly got up and when Higgins got to his knees. Kernoodle grabbed him in a front face lock which he turned into a swinging neckbreaker. That was all she wrote as Paul Morton made the 3 count.

 

Pvt. Kernoodle, in his first match in the CWA was victorious over Hacksaw Higgins by pin at 7:11.

 

 

Lance Russell: Well Mr. Kernoodle, congratulations on your first victory here in the CWA.

 

PVT. Kernoodle: Thank you very much Mr. Russell. It is great to be here. I have been watching this show for years and it is a dream come true. You could say, the American Dream. I love this country and everything that it stands for. That is why I gave many years of my life to The United States Marine Corp. As I have been watching though, I see some people around here that don’t love America. JR Foley and his group called the Commonwealth. Tojo Yamamoto and the Shogunate. I am here to protect this great nation. Anytime any

 

 

Lance Russell: Mr. Yamamoto, you do not belong here and after last week, I think we need to get security out here.

 

 

Tojo Yamamoto: Mistah Karnoodtl, you dare to say my name. You dare to challenge my Shogunate. You dare to say anytime. Time is now!

 

 

Idol cracks one bottle over the first Asian and then the second over the other one. He then turns his attention to Yamamoto and starts throwing wild haymakers at the leader of the shogunate. The Shogunate scramble to the back.

 

 

Austin Idol: Yamamoto, you think you can keep coming out here and attacking anybody you feel. Well enough is enough! You think I don’t know who those goons are. Remember Yamamoto, I am the Universal Heartthrob. I have been all around this great world. Those two goons are none other than Mr. Saito and Killer Khan. Saito! Khan! Anytime! Anyplace! You want a piece of me or my new friend here, just come and get some! This country means everything to myself and our great Marine here to my right. We are not going to let those chop sticks there come in and take our freedom away. I am sure I speak for each and every fan in the studio tonight.

 

Lance Russell: Well, Austin thanks for your help here tonight. No marine deserves to get attacked and especially here on this show. We will be right back.

 

 

 

 

Lance Russell: Well, I must say, Sir Oliver Humperdink. Your man Buzz Sayer was very impressive last week in his debut.

 

Sir Oliver Humperdink: For once, Lance Russell you are correct. Now, I will be bringing out the next member of the House of Humperdink and you will once again be in awe! Fans beware. Memphis beware! The House of Humperdink will soon rule all of wrestling.

 

Match #5: Hercules Hernandez vs Sivi Afi

 

 

 

Hernandez comes out and he is just a pillar of muscle. He stands only 6’1 but is a massive 280 pounds. He also has a giant chain wrapped around his neck which makes him even more intimidating. Sivi Afi is no slouch himself as a wrestle and the fans are anxious to see how this man, Humperdink called Hercules, does against the experienced Afi. What he does is just destroy him. The match could have been over after 30 seconds when Hernandez nailed Afi with a running powerbomb but once again Humperdink refused to allow his man to go for the pin. Another two minutes of torture followed by The Backbreaker Rack had Afi screaming in pain and tapping out franticly. Hernandez did not rush to release the hold but when he did, he threw Afi harshly to the mat.

Lance Russell: Oh my. What has Sir Oliver Humperdink done? He has two of the most violent men I have ever seen.

 

 

 

 

Lance Russell: Welcome back Austin and it is a pleasure to see you two together. It has been some time since your schedules allowed you both to be in the same place and the same time.

 

Jerry Lawler: Well Lance, I have been doing a lot of travel of late and have had really tough matches but it is great to be back in Memphis. And it is great to be the side of my brother here, Austin Idol.

 

Lance Russell: And Austin, I see you have another champagne bottle with you.

 

Austin Idol: That’s right Lance. The last two were put to good use as I clobbered one each on top of the skulls of those Dirty Sushi Eaters, Killer Khan and Mr. Saito. But this one here is for a celebration. In fact a bunch of celebrations. Jerry and I are about to become champions in two days. Jerry, the NWA Heavyweight champion and I will be the NWA Mid-American champion. Butch Reed you better watch out. The Universal Heartthrob is going to gain some more gold and your expense.

 

Lance Russell: And Jerry are you prepared for your NWA Title match on Christmas?

 

Jerry Lawler: Well I am trying the best that I can to prepare but it is difficult as I do not even know who I will be wrestling. Champion Harley Race has a huge match tomorrow night in Greensboro at Starrcade against Ric Flair and I face the winner right here in Memphis at the Mid-South Coliseum the very next night. I am going to Greensboro with Austin to celebrate his victory with him but also to watch Race vs Flair. It should be a great match. Then we will be get back to the business of running all the trouble out of the CWA. Humperdink, Foley, Yamamoto and Ladd. You all must go and it will be our pleasure to give you one way tickets to Loserville. A place you are all very familiar with.

Lance Russell: Well fans let’s get back to the ring for our Main Event. It will be TV Time remaining.

 

MAIN EVENT: SWEET DREAMS (Dream Machine and Skip Young) VS

The Midnight Bruise Brothers (Norvell Austin and Porkchop Cash)

 

This is an interesting main event as the fans don’t know much about many of the participants. Sweet Dreams is a masked team that consists of the man who has been attacking Ladd’s Army at every possible chance and another they were introduced to last week as Sweet Brown Sugar. Sweet Brown Sugar received high praise from Tony Atlas last week as being an amazing athlete. Any team willing to take on Ladd’s Army is a crowd favorite and they get a huge ovation on their way to the ring.

The Midnight Bruise Brothers consists of Porkchop Cash, a former member of the Bruise Brothers and Norvell Austin, a brand new wrestler to Memphis who is a former member of the world famous team known as the Midnight Express. He is also the newest member of Ladd’s Army and that explains the verbal abuse he is receiving from the fans.

 

As for the match it is back and forth with many momentum changes. Sweet Brown Sugar does display his athletic ability, especially with a series of rapid fire dropkicks. The biggest momentum change was when Norvell Austin climbed to the top rope and connected with a Moonsault on The Dream Machine. The only reason the Midnight Bruise Brothers did not gain the victory here was that Austin did not seem to care about the victory and instead tried to take the mask off the Dream Machine. This seemed to be the main focus of both Austin and Cash and this were most likely the pre-match orders from Ernie Ladd who swears that The Dream Machine is Troy Graham. With TV time winding down to about two minutes, The Midnight Bruise Brothers had yet to de-mask The Dream Machine. From the locker room came Butch Reed who entered the ring and started throwing wild haymakers on both members of Sweet Dreams.

 

Ref Jerry Calhoun immediately called for the bell and declared Sweet Dreams the winners by disqualification but that didn’t stop Ladd’ s Army from going after their masks. From out of nowhere comes Tony Atlas and now the brawl is 3 on 3. After about 30 seconds, Sweet Dreams and Atlas have gained control of the ring while Ladd’s Army is on the outside shaking their heads. Cash, Austin, and Reed raise their hands in a symbol of Black Power and head back to the locker room. Sweet Dreams, to the approval of the fans, celebrate in the ring.

Thanks but Nightmares are not the historical nightmares. Ted Allen is Nightmare #1 but Numbers 2 and 3 could be Mike Jackson,Brett Wayne Sawyer or even Roy Lee Welch. These 4 are currently doing double duty. They might be themselves if I need a baby face or they maybe the Nightmares if I need a heel. My roster was a little short on under-carders and this was the best I could think of. I hope that is ok with everyone.

Well, while I was a big fan of The Nightmares- Ken Wayne and Danny Davis, I also was a fan of the Ted Allen version of the Nightmares in Deep South Wrestling which I assumed these were...so we're still on the same page.

The Nightmares are a great idea as a tag team especially with Ted Allen. I'd planned to use Allen with Davis and Wayne to swap over with each over during matches, so I'm glad he's found a home where he can be The Nightmare...

CWA WRESTLING: MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE

MONDAY, DECEMBER 26, 1983

 

MATCH 1: THE NIGHTMARES VS ROY LEE WELCH AND MIKE JACKSON

The Nightmares come to the ring wearing black masks with stars on them and receive some rather loud boos considering they are very new to the CWA and neither Roy Lee Welch nor Mike Jackson are huge crowd favorites. The match is fast paced and action pact and has many momentum changes. Nightmare #2 caught Welch with an elbow after he refused to follow the ref’s demands for a clean break. A quick tag to Nightmare #1 allowed some double teaming moves. This set up Nightmare #1 with a chance to finish off the match. He picked up Welch with a handful of hair and connected with a standing dropkick. Again he picked him up with a head of hair and whipped Welch into the ropes. Nightmare #1 came off the ropes and hit a Lou Thesz Press and that was all she wrote as Nightmare #2 refused to allow Action Jackson a chance to break up the pin.

MATCH 2: BUZZ SAYWER with SIR OLIVER HUMPERDINK vs SIVI AFI

The most interesting part of this match was watching Sir Oliver Humperdink try and control Mad Dog Sawyer. From the whole entrance to the ring with Sawyer being chained to Humperdink by a large dog leash to just trying to stop Sawyer from truly hurting Sivi Afi. The match was totally one sided and saw Sawyer bite, kick and stomp his way to victory. The end came with a diving top row headbutt. When ref Paul Morton finally made the 3 count, the crowd was relieved that it was over. Even though the match was only 4 minutes in duration, for Afi it must have seemed a lot longer. Sawyer remains undefeated here in the CWA and is beginning to look like a top contender.

 

· SAWYER GAINS THE VICTORY BY PIN AFTER A DIVING TOP ROPE HEADBUTT AT 4:12.

 

MATCH 3: THE SHEEPHERDERS with JR FOLEY vs PAT ROSE AND GARY ROYAL

Again, the best part of this match was the entrance to the ring by Foley and The Sheepherders. Foley in his offensive army fatigues and Hitler mustache is waving the flag of the British Commonwealth and jarring back and forth with the fans on the way to the ring. Luke Williams and Butch Miller are not much better. They seem to enjoy bothering the American fans as much as Foley. Once the match starts, it like the Sheepherders don’t know any rules of the sport. They just completely maul their opponents. Gary Royal looks like he has dyed his golden locks red as he is a bloody mess. This match was as much outside the ring as inside. The Sheepherders rammed their opponents into the ring post, steel barricades and anything else they could find. The match finally ended when Luke used Butch’s head as a battering ram and knocked the wind out of Royal.

 

· The Sheepherders gain the victory by pinfall with the Battering Ram at 4:31.

MATCH 4: NWA MID AMERICAN TAG TITLE MATCH

THE KANSAS JAYHAWKS (DUTCH MANTELL AND BOBBY JAGGERS VS JULES STRONGBOW AND MARK YOUNGBLOOD

While this feud has only been brewing for a week or two, you can just see the hatred and lack of respect the two teams have for each other. The Kansas Jayhawks come to the ring in their black cowboy hats and bull whips and the speakers play “My Heroes Have Always Been Cowboy,” by Willie Nelson. The champions, Strongbow and Youngblood, come to the ring with traditional Indian Headdresses and War Paint on their faces. The match is a great showcase of both teams talent and includes many momentum changes. It appeared a few times that we might have new champions as Dirty Dutch hit Strongbow with a huge running elbow drop and “The Hangman” Bobby Jaggers connected with a Reverse Neckbreaker but both times the champions saved their titles by breaking up the pin attempt. Youngblood also almost gained the victory when he connected with a fall down back body drop. As the Ref Jerry Calhoun was making the count against Jaggers, Mantel rushed in and broke up the count. This lead to all four men in the ring at the same time. After a few minutes of 2 on 2, the bell sounded and the match ended in a 20 minute time limit draw. The challengers did not like this but there was nothing the ref could do. Mantel quickly exited the ring and grabbed the bull ropes and went after the champs. Strongbow and Youngblood narrowly escaped getting a whipping as they headed back to the locker room with their titles in hand. This feud is just heating up.

 

· MATCH ENDED IN A TIME LIMIT DRAW

 

MATCH 5: AUSTIN IDOL AND PVT. DON KERNOOLE VS KILLER KHAN AND MR. SAITO with TOJO YAMAMOTO

Austin Idol is back in Memphis one day after he failed to capture the NWA Mid-American Title from Hacksaw Butch Reed and tonight he has joined forces with CWA newcomer, Pvt. Don Kernodle. Kernodle was attacked this past Saturday by Killer Khan and Mr. Saito who were following their manager, Tojo Yamamoto’s instructions. It is obvious that the Universal Heartthrob and Kernodle are the crowd favorites but this seems to be slightly more important. The idea of losing to Yamamoto after his recent comments about Japan and their sneak attack on Pearl Harbor and his men attacking a U.S. Marine would be really hard to take. The match starts with Idol and Saito and is back and forth for some time with each at times having the upper hand. When the 6’5 Mongolian, Killer Khan stepped into the ring, he used his size advantage and power to control both Idol and Kernodle depending on who was in the ring at the time. The Shogunate also used some dirty tactics and many double teaming moves to keep Kernodle from his corner. Khan did an excellent job of hiding his tapped thumb choke holds from Ref Jerry Calhoun. After ducking under a huge martial chop by Saito, Kernodle was able to tag in Idol. Idol went wild on both members of the Shogunate and seemed in complete control. Khan was able to reverse an Irish Whip and as Idol hit the ropes, Yamamoto tried to grab his leg and trip him. Both Idol and Ref Calhoun turned their attention to Tojo. When Idol turned around, Khan spit some type of Asian Green Mist into the eyes of Idol and blinded him. A quick tag to Saito who scooped up Idol into the Saito Suplex and that was all she wrote. Khan and Saito turned their attention to Kernodle and he was also hit with the green mist and a Saito Suplex. Idol and Kernodle are left rolling on the mat, rubbing their eyes and backs as the Shogunate celebrate in the ring.

 

· The Shogunate defeat Idol and Kernodle at 13:15 by pin.

 

 

MATCH 6: BRUISER BRODY VS ABDULLAH THE BUTCHER

This never even had the semblance of a wrestling match and was nothing but a wild fight. Bruiser Brody attacked the Butcher in the aisle as he made his way to the ring and the two of them ended up fighting up and down the entrance way, around the ringside area and even into the crowd. These men really seem to hate each other and this feud has been ragging all across the nation and into Puerto Rico. Brody connected with a Mauling Knee Smash outside the ring but this only seemed to slow Butcher down just a bit. Both men hit each other with chairs, slammed the other one's head into the guard rail, the ring apron, and the ring steps. After only a few short minutes of action both men were bloodied and battered. Abdullah the Butcher tried to take control as he pulled out a fork and stabbed it into the head of Brody as Brody who had been thrown into the seats tried to climb the guard rail to get back into the ringside area after Abdullah. Abdullah started carving into Brody’s head with the fork as the crowd in the Mid-South Coliseum wildly cheered Bruiser Brody to make a comeback. Abdullah had Brody down on the floor and looked to drop a big elbow on the midsection of Bruiser but Bruiser Brody rolled out of the way and Abdullah landed with a hard thud on the concrete floor! Brody picked up the dropped fork off the floor and jammed it into Abby's head as he started to get back up! Brody started carving it into Abdullah the Butcher's forehead! Abby managed to get Brody off of him for a moment with a shot to the throat and then started to retreat to the locker room! Brody chased after him and caught him with another Mauling Knee Smash. He followed this up with an impressive one handed body slam. Both men were a complete mess by now and Ref Paul Morton had no choice but to call for the bell. This did not seem to mean anything to The Butcher or Brody as they continued their fight all the way back to the locker room.

 

· The match was declared a No Contest by the referee.

 

MATCH 7: SWEET DREAMS (THE DREAM MACHINE AND SWEET BROWN SUGAR) & TONY ATLAS

VS

THE MIDNIGHT BRUISE BROTHERS (PORKCHOP CASH AND NORVELLE AUSTIN) & HACKSAW REED

Sweet Dreams and Tony Atlas have one goal in mind and that is to put a stop to Ernie Ladd and his Army. The Midnight Bruise Brothers besides wanting to win the match, would love to take the mask off of the Dream Machine and reveal his identity. He has been terrorizing Ladd’s Army for about a month now. This is one of his first real matches. Usually, he just interferes in their matches and hits them with any weapons he can find. Ernie Ladd is 100% sure that The Dream Machine is none other than Troy Graham.

The match is back and forth and very violent. None of the 6 men really care about the rules and just try and beat the other team into submission. The first thing that stands out is the athleticism of Sweet Brown Sugar. His combination of speed, power and leaping ability are in a class by themselves. He connected with a series of rapid fire dropkicks on Norvell Austin that almost got his team the victory. The other thing that came out in this match was Tony Atlas and Hacksaw Reed’s attempt to physically dominate each other. During the match the each flexed their huge biceps in an attempt to intimidate the other but that got them nowhere. What almost did get them the victory was the Gorilla Press Slam? Atlas connected with one on Reed but was unable to get the pin and Reed also connected with one on Atlas but was unable to him the victory.

The turning point came with Porkchop Cash in the ring against the Dream Machine. Cash had control and was trying to pull the mask off Dream Machine. The action was taking place somewhat close to Dream’s corner. Without Cash knowing it, The Dream Machine tagged in Sweet Brown Sugar. Sugar, like a cat, climbed to the top rope and leaped over Cash. He surprised him with a top rope sunset flip. As referee Jerry Calhoun began the count, Reed and Austin rushed the ring to try and make the save but Atlas was one step ahead. He caught them with a double clothesline which allowed Calhoun to complete the three count. Atlas seemed to linger over Reed for another minute, hoping he would get back up and try something. This might be something to watch in the near future here in the CWA.

 

· Sweet Dreams and Tony Atlas gain the victory at 16:43.

 

 

MATCH 8: ANDRE THE GIANT VS ERNIE LADD

Andre the Giant has come to Memphis in an attempt to quiet the trash talking of Ernie Ladd. Ladd has been at it for months here in the CWA basically calling out anyone who has a different view them him. As always, the crowd loves the Giant and lets him know their approval as he makes his way to the ring. Ladd was already in the ring and had set fans off again by using JYD’s entrance song by Queen, “Another One Bites The Dust. He is yelling and screaming at Andre calling him a “big dummy.” You must give Ladd some credit. He is not backing down one bit and he truly believes he can beat The Giant. When Andre steps over the ropes, Ladd charges at him and hits him with a “Big Boot” before the match is even under way. This momentary lack of focus by Andre allowed Ernie to gain control of the match but Andre is not out on his feet as many opponents who received the boot from Ernie were. Ladd continued to chop and chop until finally The Giant was knocked down. Ernie did his best to keep Andre on the mat by using a series of nerve holds and headlocks. Ernie might have rushed things a bit and actually lifted Andre to his feet. He went for one too many chops and Andre actually caught Ladd’s fist in his hand and started to squeeze. Ladd could not take the pain and crumpled to his knees. Andre followed this up with a few major chops of his own. Ladd was in trouble now. Andre violently whipped him into the ropes and caught him with a Big Boot of his own. Ladd spun to the canvass and landed face first. Andre simple turned him over and stood on his chest. That was 500 pounds knocking the wind out of Ladd and probably crushing a few ribs along the way. Andre hit the ropes and jumped in the air landing on Ladd with a Giant Splash. He just sat on top of Ladd while ref Paul Morton made the three count.

 

· Andre the Giant pins Ernie Ladd at 14:21.

 

MATCH 9: AWA SOUTHERN TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH

ROCK n ROLL EXPRESS VS THE WILD SAMOANS with SIR OLIVER HUMPERDINK

 

The Rock N Roll Express, the AWA Southern Tag Team Champions enter the ring to KISS and “Rock N Roll All Night.” The fans are excited to see their champs back as they have not been in the Mid –South Coliseum in almost a month... Tonight they face the Wild Samoans, a team Humperdink has rented from the Mid-South Wrestling and Bill Watts in an attempt to obtain the AWA Southern Tag Titles. CWA President Ed Marlin, sanctioned this match due to the fact that a new #1 contender has not yet been named an the Rock n Roll Express must defend their title within 30 days and that date was fast approaching. The two teams meet twice in unsanctioned brawls on this week’s TV show with neither team able to completely control the other. As the Wild Samoans are guided to the ring by Sir Oliver Humperdink, the fans are hoping Humperdink stays out of the match. Most believe that to only be wishful thinking. Afa and Siki are familiar faces to the Memphis crowd as they were here in 1981 when they caused havoc on the entire promotion. As they walk to the ring tonight, they are grunting and growling and making menacing faces at the crowd. These two are really talented and dangerous.

As the match starts, it is the RnR Express who takes control but it is short lived. Both teams are so talented on defense and in the art of tag team wrestling that there are many quick tags and reversals in the early going. The Wild Samoans take control after a double team on Gibson that included many martial art like kicks. After one more tag, Gibson was on the canvass after a massive headbutt from Sika. From here, Sika connected with a big Samoan Drop and it looked like this title reign may be over for the Express. Morton rushed into the ring and took on both Samoans for a moment and forced Afa out of the ring with a big missile dropkick. As the ref pushed him Morton back, Sika went for another Samoan Drop but Gibson wiggled free in the nick of time and legally tagged in Ricky Gibson. From here, Morton took control and now the Rock N Roll Express used their double team repertoire to gain momentum. After a double missile drop kick on Sika, the RnR Express nailed Afa with the same move. Gibson locked in the Gibson leglock on Sika. Instead of accepting defeat, as Sika was about to submit, Humperdink jumped up on the ring apron to distract ref Jerry Calhoun. It worked but it might have backfired. While Calhoun was dealing with Humperdink, Afa tried to come in and help his partner. He went for a huge Superkick on Morton but Ricky slipped away at the last second. Afa nailed Sika and Morton quickly capitalized and went for the cover. Calhoun turned around to begin the 3 count. Afa went to make the save but was meet with a drop kick of his own by Robert Gibson. Sir Oliver Humperdink could do nothing else but look on as Calhoun completed the three count. Humperdink was shocked and the Wild Samoans could not believe what just happened. The best part for the fans was that it was all Humperdink’s fault.

Out of nowhere come The Sheepherders. They hit the ring and go right after the RnR Express and just beat on them. The Samoans join in on the fun and it is a 4 on 2 beat down. Wrestlers rush in from the back to break it up but the Express are a bloody mess. You knew as soon as the Sheepherders arrived here in the CWA that something like this would happen.

 

· The Rock n Roll Express defeat the Wild Samoans by pin at 20:11.

MATCH 10: AWA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE MATCH: HULK HOGAN vs RODDY PIPER with JR Foley

This is a rematch from last night at Superclash in which Hulk Hogan retained his title via a count-out victory that saw Rowdy Roddy Piper unable to get back in the ring before the 10 count. Even though this is Hulk Hogan’s first trip to Memphis as the AWA Champion, the crowd is completely behind him as they can’t stand JR Foley and Piper. Foley really angers the Memphis crowd each and every time he is around. Whether it be waving the flag of the British Commonwealth, his similar appearance to Adolf Hitler or that he continuously puts down the United States, the fans at the Mid-South Coliseum hope that his man, Roddy Piper doesn’t become the World Champion. As the bag pipes begin to play and Piper appears in his traditional kilt, the crowd is all over him.

As the match starts, Piper is very cautious. Maybe he is still feeling the effects of last night’s beating at the hands of the 6’7, 302 pounder with 24 inch pythons or maybe it is a new strategy. Either way, Hogan controls the first 5 or 6 six minutes but doesn’t come close to a victory. The crowd is actually somewhat quiet. That is until Foley distracts ref Paul Morton and Piper hits Hogan with a low blow. This allows him to gain the momentum for the second part of this match. He quickly followed up the low blow with a high knee lift. The pin attempt saw Hogan kick out at 2. Piper dragged Hogan up by his hair and whipped into the ropes and caught him with a sleeper. It looked as though we would have a new champ as Hogan slowly went from his feet, to one knee to flat on his back. The crowd started to cheer on Hogan as ref Morton begin the 3 count by raising and dropping Hogan’s arm.

Hogan’s arm starts to shake. His body begins to tremble. You can see the fear in Piper’s eyes. Hogan up to one knee. Hogan to his feet as Piper continues to have the sleeper locked in. Piper is now being carried around on Hogan’s back but he refuses to break the sleeper. Hogan runs backwards and crushed Piper into the turnbuckle to break the hold. It takes Hogan a minute to gather himself but Piper is still in the corner. Hogan rushes in and nails him with a huge elbow. Before Piper could fall to the ground, Hogan whips him into the ropes and catches him with an Axe Bomber. Piper is down. Hogan hits the ropes himself and comes off leaping into the air and lands on Piper with a running leg drop. That is all she wrote as Paul Morton makes the 3 count before Foley can get in to save Piper from another defeat. Hogan gets up and grabs Foley by the head as the crowd goes wild. Hogan launches him over the top rope as the fans watch Foley soar to the concrete floor below. Slowey Piper and Foley retreat to the locker room as the fans go wild. Hogan really seems to enjoy this Memphis crowd as he goes around shaking hands for quite some time. Maybe it was too long as there was some confusion by the program director who must have lost focus for a moment. While Hogan was still celebrating his victory and shaking hands with the fans and showing them the AWA WORLD TITLE, the ring announcer introduced Ric Flair. Flair was the new NWA World Champion and he come to the ring with his belt as the Hogan was leaving with his. The two took a few minutes to glare at each other as they past. Both seemed like they were the real champ and that the other could be had!

MATCH 11: NWA WORLD TITLE MATCH: RIC FLAIR VS JERRY LAWLER

The World Champion comes to the ring for the first time as the Champion. Flair just won the title back from Race last night at Starrcade when defeated Harley Race. The fans welcome Flair with a chorus of boos but you must wonder where his confidence comes from. Flair, wearing a rather elegant robe struts his way to the ring in a very arrogant manner. One must also wonder if he is looking too far ahead and thinking of his upcoming rematch with Harley Race. He appears to think Lawler will be an easy victory.

Jerry Lawler is next to the ring and the crowd goes wild. They all truly believe that he is the best in the world and would love to see him with the championship belt around his waist.

The match starts with a bit of a feeling out process but Flair is able to get the first advantage after he slipped a collar and elbow lockup and caught Lawler with a double eye gouge. Maybe he learned that from Race or maybe he is just as dirty. From here it was a series of technical moves that included a near fall after Bow and Arrow on Lawler but Jerry refused to submit when asked by Ref Jerry Calhoun. Flair stayed on the advantage until he made the mistake of rushing onto the corner in an attempt to elbow Lawler in the corner. Lawler rolled out at the last second and after a minute to gather himself, Lawler was now on the advantage. He tried every trick in the book but couldn’t gain a pin or submission from the champ. Lawler locked in his sleeper but Flair was able to get to the ropes and force the break. Lawler caught him with his Royal Backbreaker but Flair would just not submit. Lawler even nailed a fist drop from the top rope but Flair was able to drape his foot across the bottom rope before the count of 3. Both men believed that their only chance to claim victory might be to break a few rules. The match became a bit of a slugfest with neither man backing down. With time winding down Lawler did nail one more fist drop but again Flair kicked out at the count of two. Lawler went to the well one too many times and this time Flair rolled out on Lawler’s top rope fist drop. Flair jumped to his feet and screamed, “Now we go to school.” He picked up Lawler’s leg and snapped in a Figure 4 Leglock. Lawler screamed in pain but would not submit. Flair continued to pour on the pressure but Lawler just would not quit. Flair was by the ropes and every time the ref went to ask Lawler if he wanted to give, Flair would grab the rope and arch his back to apply even more pressure. The crowd tried to let the ref know but he was always a second late to see Flair break the rules. Finally, Lawler could take the pressure no longer and gave in to the Figure 4. It was really too bad. If he could have hung on another minute, it would have ended in a time limit draw. The fans were devastated by seeing Lawler submit. It seems like Lawler is always on the verge of becoming the World Champ but just seems to fall inches short. Hopefully, the series of close calls will convince the NWA Board of Directors that he deserves another title shot. Flair struts his way to the back as the Mid-South Coliseum applauds Lawler’s attempt. They know he is close and want to show “The King” how much they appreciate him.

Lance Russell: "Hello again, everybody! Lance Russell and Dave Brown here again for CWA Wrestling in Memphis, TN. Let’s get right to our first segment, “This Week in the CWA.” Dave take it away.

 

Dave Brown: Well thank you Lance and great to be with you and all the wrestling fans here in the CWA. What a week it was in the CWA. I mean just the card last Monday night at the Mid-South Coliseum was unbelievable but there was so much more. I mean between Starrcade, Superclash and The Supercard at the Coliseum this past week was historic. Let’s get right to the news.

 

CWA WRESTLERS AT SUPERCLASH

 

1. Jerry Lawler: “The King has come up empty in 2 straight trips to the AWA in matches against a behemoth of a man that goes by the name Lord Humongous. In fact, in both matches, Lawler may have been beaten worse than he ever has been in his entire career.

2. The Rock n Roll Express successful defended their AWA Southern Tag Titles against the Polish Brotherhood. What a match this was that saw the rule breaking Brotherhood get caught by their own dirty tactics. Some outside interference gone wrong, allowed the RnR Express to escape with their belts.

3. Hulk Hogan was able to defend his AWA World Title against Roddy Pier with JR Foley. This match ended with a bit of controversy as Piper never made it back into the ring to beat the 10 count.

 

STARRCADE

“Hacksaw Butch Reed defended his NWA Mid-American Title against Austin Idol. This is the third time in a row that Reed has defeated Idol.

 

 

SUPERCARD AT THE MID-SOUTH COLISEUM

Maybe the greatest card ever at the Coliseum. There were 4 title matches including 2 world championship matches. That’s right folks. The NWA and AWA champions were actually in the building on the same night. They even took the time to stare each other down. Unfortunately for the CWA wrestlers, they were unable to come away with either title. The first bout was a classic where Roddy Piper tried to avenge his loss from the night before against Hulk Hogan but he came up just short. The second world title match was Ric Flair’s first title defense. He defeated Harley Race the night before to become the NWA Champion. Flair was now responsible to fulfill Race’s obligations so he rushed right over to Memphis from Greensboro. Another classic match but Flair seemed to bend the rules just enough to gain the victory.

In other action, The Rock n Roll Express successfully defended their AWA Southern Tag belts against the Wild Samoans. After a great match, the Express were attacked by JR Foley and the real Sheepherders. The Rock N Roll Express left the night with their belts but they were a bloody mess. This one is just about to heat up!

 

Tonight’s show will include a very special announcement by Jerry Jarrett regarding the upcoming tournament to crown our very own CWA Champion. Also, if you look behind me tonight, you see 3 huge trophies. These will be awarded to the 1983 CWA Newcomer of the Year, The CWA Tag Team of the Year and the CWA Wrestler of the Year.

Jerry Jarrett: Well first of all Lance, it is a pleasure to be back and I would like to offer each and every one of our CWA fans a Happy New Year. For the CWA we are very excited to usher in 1984 and for the first time ever, we will be crowning our own heavyweight champion. The tournament will consist of 8 wrestlers. The only wrestle guaranteed a spot in the tournament is Jerry Lawler. He is currently our AWA Southern Heavyweight Champion and ranked #1 in the CWA. There will be 6 other matches held on January 2^nd at the Mid-South Coliseum. The winner of each of those matches will be awarded a spot in the tournament. The wrestlers chosen for these matches had to be active in the CWA as of November 15^th. These matches are

· Austin Idol vs Moondog Moretti

· Hacksaw Butch Reed vs Troy Graham

· Roddy Piper vs Plowboy Frazier

· Junk Yard Dog vs Ernie “The Big Cat” Ladd

· Bruiser Brody vs Porkchop Cash

· Stan Hansen vs Mr. Wrestling II

Lance Russell: Mr. Jarrett, I believe you said that the tournament will be 8 men. If Jerry Lawler is in and so are the winners of these 6 matches that only adds up to 7 wrestlers.

 

Jerry Jarrett: That is correct. The growth of the CWA has led to many major roster changes after November 15^th. We are going to have a 20 Man Over The Top Rope Battle Royal This Battle Royal is open to one and all. The winner of this Battle Royal will get the last spot in our CWA Tournament. This Battle Royal will also take place on Jan 2 at the Mid-South Coliseum. After that, the second round matches will take place on Jan 9^th. All second round matches will be picked out of a hat. There are no seedlings in this tournament. The semifinals will take place on Jan 23^rd and the new CWA Heavyweight Champion will be crowned on Jan 30^th. Just a side note, Jerry Lawler and Hacksaw Reed are currently champions here in the CWA. Should either one of them win, they would need to vacate their current titles.

Lance Russell: Well thank you for that information Jerry. This should be some tournament. I must say the CWA is growing so rapidly. Before we go to break, I would like to invite The Rock n Roll Express to come out for a moment.

 

 

Lance Russell: Well besides discussing the Sheepherders and their attack on you guys last week in the Mid-South Coliseum after your victory over the Wild Samoans, there is one other reason to bring you guys out here tonight. Ricky Morton, Robert Gibson, You guys are the winners of the CWA Tag Team of the Year for 1983! Congratulations!

 

 

Robert Gibson: Well thank you Dave. This is wonderful news and we would like to thank all of our fans. We could not do this without you. There are many wonderful teams here in the CWA and your support really gives us the energy we need each and every night.

 

Ricky Morton: I must add one more thing. While winning this trophy is wonderful, I must admit that our attention is on the Sheepherders. How do you attack us after a match with the Wild Samoans? Luke Williams, Butch Miller and that little manager of yours are nothing but a bunch of low down yellow bellied cowards. You have to attack us when our guard is down. When were are exhausted. I don’t want to make any excuses, but trust me brother, we will be ready for your next attack.

 

 

Luke Williams: EH, CWA! Just make sure by this time next year, Mate! You get our Tag Team Trophy of the Year fixed up all nice for us. We don’t want this broken piece of BLEEP.

Lance Russell: Well, Sir Oliver Humperdinck! What do you think of the set up for the CWA Tournament?

Sir Oliver Humperdinck: What do you think I think of it Pencil Nose? You know exactly what I think. Jerry Jarrett and the powers that be did this on purpose to try and ensure that my Army does not win the championship. They know that my stable is undefeated in the past 3 weeks. Yes, Buzz Sawyer is 6-0 since he appeared here in the CWA and Hercules Hernandez is 3-0. They are the fastest rising stars in the entire organization. So Jarrett randomly picked a date of November 15^th to decide who is now in a tournament starting an 2^nd. Completely unfair. But he did leave me an opening. Win the Battle Royal on January 2^nd and the 8^th slot will be mine. I have 3 chances to win that Battle Royal and that makes it easy. If I only had one of my men in, they would win. Now with three! It will be a piece of cake.

 

Lance Russell: Three? I thought your stable consisted only of Buzz Sawyer and Hercules Hernandez. Did I miss something?

Sir Oliver Humperdink: You most certainly did. You missed Jerry Lawler’s last trip to the AWA. You missed his last two matches. Well what you really missed was the monster who crushed him two times in a row! That’s right Pencil Nose. I have purchased the contract of the one and only Lord Humongous and his is now part of my stable. His first match is up next.

 

Match #1: Lord Humongous with Sir Oliver Humperdink vs Pat Rose

 

 

The newest monster to Humperdink’s stable is a sight to see. He is introduced as being 6’8 and weighing 320 pounds from the Valley of Death. He is also wearing a white goalie mask with leather studded wrist guards and seems to be from the future. As if the fans were not already scarred, when the match began, Lord Humongous unleashed a wave a destruction never seen before in the TV studio. His power was awesome but so was his agility. At one point he came off the ropes and heaved himself into the air and connected with a flying headbutt that seemed to take the head right off Pat Rose. This was followed by a two handed choke slam where it appeared Rose might go right through the mat. As if it were necessary, Humongous put Pat Rose into the most violent cobra clutch ever witnessed. While the move was locked in, he just whipped Rose from left to right and almost snapped his head off. Ref Paul Morton quickly called for the bell. After watching this, the fans understood how their hero lost twice to this monster.

Lance Russell: My oh my. The rest of the wrestlers better hope that monster doesn’t win the Battle Royal. Let’s get right back to the ring for our second match.

 

 

 

Match #2: Mr. Saito with Tojo Yamamoto vs Private Kernodle

This feud has been heating up over the past few weeks. Kernodle, a former Marine, has taken offense to Yamamoto and the Shogunate for their lack of respect to the United States. Saito and Yamamoto do nothing to ease tensions as they come out waving a giant flag of Japan and ask the audience to rise while they both sing the national anthem from Japan. Needless to say, the crowd lets them have it while they sing. As for the match, Private Kernodle held his own for a while. He was close to a victory when he went for a neckbreaker but Mr. Saito scoped him up on his back and connected with a back body drop. From here it was a series of big moves that put Saito into complete control. The beginning of the end came with a huge lariat followed by a Saito Suplex. After that, Ref Jerry Calhoun made the three count. Instead of leaving the ring, Saito put Kernodle into a Saito Prison Lock, a kneeling Figure 4. As he was writhing in pain, Kernodle’s USA headband flew off and it was picked up by Yamamoto who spit on it and then stomped on it. All the while, Saito refused to let go of Prison Lock. From the back came Austin Idol who attacked Saito. This is exactly what Yamamoto was hoping for as now Killer Khan hit the ring. It was 2-1 as Kernodle was still out of it. Khan quickly sprayed the green Asian mist into the eyes of Idol. Idol was now blinded and was taking a beating of his own. Moondog Moretti hit the ring and asked the Shogunate permission to finish off Idol. Moretti whipped Idol off the ropes and caught him with a huge powerslam. That’s 315 pounds worth of brute strength coming down on Idol. Moretti and the Shogunate bowed to each other on their way out of the ring.

Lance Russell: Well Moondog Moretti is trying anything he can to weaken Idol before the CWA tournament. We will have to take a break and regain control of tonight’s show.

Lance Russell: Well Mr. Reed, we have asked you out here now to present you with The CWA Newcomer of the Year Award for 1983.

 

 

Butch Reed: Well this is all nice and good but how did I not win the CWA Wrestler of the Year Award. I mean, I am undefeated since I have been here. I am the NWA Mid-American Title Holder. I have defeated each and every opponent you have put in front of me. I have devastated Austin Idol each time I have faced him. From the reports I have just heard, Jerry “Your King” Lawler is on some kind of losing streak. Piper failed to bring home the gold. And yet, somehow I am not the Wrestler of the Year. Let me guess why? Oh yeah, Ernie Ladd told me this would happen. The racist CWA would never award the black man what he deserves. Well let’s get one thing straight, I do not want this award. In fact, the only thing I want now is the CWA Heavyweight Title. You all will see that I can’t be stopped. And one more thing, why Jerry Lawler does got a bye into the second round of the tournament when I am also a champion in this here organization. Oh yeah, I keep on forgettin something. He is white!

 

 

Lance Russell: Now, now Tony. We don’t want any trouble here.

 

Tony Atlas: I am not out here for trouble Lance. I am out here to tell these great folks here in Memphis that the man next to you is not the fighting champ he claims to be. I believe I am next in line for that title in his hands but he is trying to bypass all that. He wants no part of me and that is why he is talking about the CWA Title and not the one he is in possession of.

 

Tony Atlas flexes his huge guns for Hacksaw Reed to see.>

 

 

Hacksaw Reed: Atlas, you better watch your mouth. I have never run from nobody and I aint running from you! You just arrived here and think you deserve a title shot already. You, just like everybody else got to work their way up the ladder and you think you can intimidate me by a little flexing. You ain’t got nothing on me.

 

 

 

Jerry Jarrett: Well hold on a minute now fellas. Let’s try to keep some order around here. This is how it is going to work. This Wednesday Night in Nashville, TN at the State Fair Grounds you two are going to have a match. Not a wrestling match but an arm wrestling match. If Tony Atlas wins, he will become the new #1 contender for the NWA Mid-American Championship. If Hacksaw Reed wins, he will get the next World Title Shot the very next time the NWA or AWA Champion comes to Memphis.

 

Lance Russell: Well that seems fair. Good luck to each of you. Now let’s get back to the action.

 

 

Match #3: The Nightmares vs NWA Mid-American Tag Champions, Jules Strongbow and Mark Youngblood

 

The Nightmares attack the fan favorites before the bell in this non-title bout. This allows them to control the first few minutes of the match. Jules Strongbow was able to turn the tide on Nightmare #1 when he ducked under a right hand and went on the War Path.

 

 

Jules Strongbow goes to his corner where he tied the Indian strap that he brought to ringside. He starts whipping that in the ring and challenging the Kansas Jayhawks to enter the ring. While he was doing this, Nightmare #2 climbed to the top rope and leaped off nailing Strongbow with a top rope drop kick right to the temple. Strongbow was down as Nightmare #2 went for the cover. Before Youngblood could get into make the save, ref Paul Morton completed the 3 count. Wow, the Nightmares have just defeated the champions. The Kansas Jaw hawks walk off set laughing as the Nightmares celebrate their victory.

 

The Nightmares defeat Jay Strongbow and Mark Youngblood in a non-title bout.

 

 

Lance Russell: What was that all about guys? What were the Kansas Jayhawks doing out here.

 

Jules Strongbow: First of all Lance, let me apologies to our fans. I lost focus and that should never have happened. Take nothing away from the Nightmares but as the champs we need to be focused all the time. This thing with the Kansas Jayhawks is really getting to us. I mean their lack of respect. Their lack of class. If they think that those Bull Whips are going to make us back down, they got another thing coming.

 

Mark Youngblood: That’s right Jules. This Monday Night we want another piece of you. Titles on the line. We don’t care. Just be ready for the fight of your life.

 

 

Lance Russell: We will be right back after this message.

 

 

 

Lance Russell: Well Troy, what do you think of Ladd running around claiming you are the Dream Machine and that you are the one responsible for all the attacks on his men.

 

Troy Graham: Well that is just absurd. I mean I really love what this Dream Machine is doing. Ladd has been running around here attacking wrestlers for far too long without anybody standing up to his gang of bullies This Dream Machine is fighting fire with fire and good for him. Sad as it is though, I am not the Dream Machine.

 

 

Ernie Ladd: Graham, I don’t believe a word you are saying. How is this! If you are not Dream Machine how about you just bring him out here right now and prove to us you are not him.

 

 

Ernie Ladd: See what I am talking about, you too white fools aint never been in the same place at the same time.

Troy Graham: I guess he is not in studio tonight. I do not make the schedule. You will just have to talk to Mr. Jarrett on why we are not on the same shows.

 

Ernie Ladd: I know why. It’s because you white folks are always in cahoots. He doesn’t want to have to fine you or suspend you like he does every time he claims I do something wrong. So you, like every other white fool around here, hides his face and thinks we don’t know what is going on.

 

Troy Graham: Why is this always about race with you man? Can’t you see who the Dream Machine is with? I mean his partners are Sweet Brown Sugar and Tony Atlas. Two black men.

 

Ernie Ladd: Don’t you dare call them Uncle Tom’s Black. They are just dark skinned crackers. I am so sick and tired of all you dummies running around here interfering in justice. I am putting a bounty of $10,000 dollars on the mask of the Dream Machine and when I find out it is you, My Army will hunt you down anywhere the CWA goes.

 

 

Lance Russell: Well Troy, I guess you, I mean the Dream Machine better be careful. Well Troy, you have a match now so you better get to the ring.

 

 

Match #4: Troy Graham vs Gary Royal

 

Graham is lie a house a fire in this match. Ernie Ladd really set him off and he takes it out on Gary Royal. After beating him from pillar to post, The Dream, sorry, Troy Graham ends the match with a Bionic Elbow. After the three count, Graham storms out of the ring to the locker room. The crowd has not seen him like this since he the Bruise Brothers split up.

 

Troy Graham pinned Gary Royal in 3:38.

 

 

Lance Russell: Well that was as ornery as we have seen Troy in a while. Let’s get right back to the ring for our main event.

 

MATCH 5: Sweet Brown Sugar vs Norvell Austin

 

These two are both new comers to the CWA but they are already in the center of one of the biggest feuds in all of wrestling. Sweet Brown Sugar and The Dream Machine make up the tag team of Sweet Dreams and they are after Ernie Ladd’s Army. Norvell Austin, a member of the Midnight Bruise Brothers with Porkchop Cash is Ladd’s main team at the current time.

The crowd is all for Sweet Brown Sugar who starts the match with some really athletic moves. Austin also has his moments to shine. Austin using some really dirty tactics has Young in trouble. Austin hit the ropes and connected with a diving headbutt. It could have been over but Austin quickly climbed to the top rope and leaped off…..

 

A moonsault!!

 

Young rolled out at the last second and Austin appears hurt. Young goes for the cover.

Porkchop Cash hits the ring and lands on Young with an elbow.

 

Ref Paul Morton quickly calls for the bell and disqualifies Austin but that doesn’t stop the attack by Cash. Cash is all over Young.

 

 

Lance Russell: Well I guess The Dream Machine just got to the arena. I didn’t think he was with us tonight. Well for Sweet Brown Sugar’s sake, we are lucky he showed up when he did. Let’s take our last commercial break and when we return, we will hear from Austin Idol and the “King” Jerry Lawler.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Lance Russell: Well Jerry and Austin, let me wish you a Happy New Year and congratulations on both receiving first round bye’s in the upcoming CWA Tournament. I know the crowd will be behind you both.

 

Jerry Lawler: I know they will be and their support really means a lot.

 

Lance Russell: Well you have it and there is also one more thing you now have. You have been selected the CWA Wrestler of the Year for 18983. Congratulations!

 

 

Lance Russell: Austin, I see you still have that champagne bottle from last week. I guess you wish that it had already been used. Unfortunately, you were not able to beat Hacksaw Butch Reed and Starrcade and The King here, was not able to defeat the new NWA Champion, Ric Flair.

 

Austin Idol: That’s right Lance, this was a tough week for both of us. I mean I really thought it would be a week a limo rides, girls and of course a lot of champagne for the Universal Heartthrob but I guess it was not meant to be. Don’t you worry though? When this upcoming tournament is over, one of us well be the first CWA Champion.

 

 

Jerry Lawler: Well well well, I was wondering where my sister’s skirt went!

 

 

Roddy Piper: Oh ha ha, you are so funny Mr. Lawler. How about you stop with the jokes and listen up! Ever since I showed up here in Memphis, you have seemed to disappear. You say you have a match here and a match there. Those are the actions of a coward. Or maybe those are the actions of an American! I am not sure if there is much of a difference. How can you be CWA Wrestler of the Year if you are never in the CWA?

 

Jerry Lawler: Ok Piper, I have had about enough of your…..

 

Roddy Piper: Oh pipe down and listen to what I have to say. You keep calling me a girl in my kilt and I am sure even a country hick like yourself can beat a girl. So let’s say you and me have ourselves a little match Wednesday night at the Tennessee Sate Pig Grounds in Nashville.

 

Jerry Lawler: I accept under one condition.

 

Roddy Piper: Oh, you have one condition. Well big boy, so do I. How about we make this a title match for the AWA Southern Championship.

 

 

Jerry Lawler: That’s fine Piper as long as you accept my stipulation or should I say Foley here accepts it.

 

Roddy Piper: Ok man, just sit it out like you do with your tobacco you hayseed!

 

Jerry Lawler: If I win, or should I say when I win, I get 5 minutes alone in the ring with Mr. Foley here.

 

 

Jerry Lawler: What’s the matter Foley got no confidence in a man who wears a skirt!

You've been consistent since the outset. Great shows from Memphis and you continue that streak here. I loved the 26th Supershow and you had a card to rival Starrcade without a doubt. I think you've walked the fine line between AWA and NWA for sometime and you have supported both in a big way. I am interested to see where that partnership goes in 1984 and how some of your big names will be used during that time.

 

I see Reed, Piper, Lawler, and Idol having big years but I think there are some underneath guys that will get through and be special parts to your show and the Sheephearders are two of them. Great stuff to end the year and your on the right foot to begin the next.

CWA WRESTLING: MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE

FROM THE MID-SOUTH COLISEUM:

MONDAY, JANUARY 2, 1984

 

MATCH 1: DON KERNODLE VS KILLER KHAN with Tojo Yamamoto

 

This feud has been heating up over the past few weeks. Don Kernodle, a former U.S. Marine was upset at the Shogunate over anti-American comments they made. Kernodle comes to the ring wearing a head band with the flag of the United States as the fans cheer wildly. When Khan comes out he is accompanied by Yamamoto waving a giant Japanese flag. The crowd is really letting him have it

The match begins with Khan taking control. Kernodle is having trouble dealing with the 6’5, 300+ pounder. A diving knee drop by Khan leaves Kernodle writhing in pain. Khan picks him up and tosses him through the middle ropes. As the ref admonishes Khan, Yamamoto levels Kernodle with the flagpole to the back of the head. Kernodle is busted wide open and never really regains any momentum. Ref Paul Morton senses that Yamamoto did something begins to question him... With the ref distracted, Khan sprays Kernodle with Asian green mist right in the eyes. Again, Kernodle is rolling around the mat in great pain. From here, Khan puts Kernodle in the cobra clutch and that was all she wrote. The fans were upset at the ease at which this American hero was defeated by the Mongolian.

 

· Killer Khan wins by submission at 6:52.

 

MATCH 2: BRUSIER BRODY VS PORKCHOP CASH (1^st Round CWA Title Match)

This match is the first match in the tournament to crown the CWA Champion. The fans are strongly behind Brody but they hope he can keep his cool long enough not too disqualified. His style is always right on the line between wrestling and street fighting. The fans really let Porkchop Cash have it as they hate his association with Ernie Ladd.

As soon as Cash is in the ring Brody is all over him. He is relentless with a combination of forearm smashes, knee lifts and the occasional technical move. Cash never had a chance. Many thought that he was more of a tag team wrestler and really didn’t deserve to be in this tournament and Brody is proving that. The end came when Brody scooped Cash up into one armed body slam followed by a Mauling Knee Smash.

 

· Brody pins Cash at 5:51.

 

MATCH 3: RODDY PIPER with JR FOLEY VS PLOWBOY FRAZIER (1^st Round CWA Title Match)

With Plowboy Frazier already in the ring, the Bag Pipes begin to play as Piper and Foley make their way to the ring. Foley waving the flag of the British Commonwealth dressed in his army fatigues has the fans incensed. He has added a military helmet to his attire tonight.

As the match sounds, Piper is unsure what to do with Frazier and his 475 pounds. Everything he tries seems to have no effect on the huge man. After a few minutes of wrestling, Piper turns to his bag of dirty tricks. An eye rake allows him to get in some huge blows as Frazier is doubled over. Frazier refuses to go to the mat but does fall backwards into the ropes. Piper rushes in but the ref pushes him back after a count of 4 and admonishes him for not breaking cleanly on his count. Foley sees this as his chance and jabs the butt of the flag into the ribs of Frazier.

Frazier is incensed and goes out after Foley but as he turns the corner, Piper is there for a sneak attack. Piper connects with a kick to the midsection followed by a knee lift. He then grabs Frazier and rams his head into the announce table before heading back to the ring. Foley is once again near Frazier but this time he is just taunting him. Frazier makes it back into the ring but with Foley barking at him the entire way. Ref Jerry Calhoun tells Foley to get away but this gives Piper just enough time to administer a low blow. A few kicks to the knee followed by a Figure 4 leglock and Frazier has no choice but to surrender.

Roddy Piper defeats Plowboy Frazier by submission as 11:12.

 

MATCH 4: NWA MID AMERICAN TAG TITLE MATCH

THE KANSAS JAYHAWKS (DUTCH MANTELL AND BOBBY JAGGERS VS JULES STRONGBOW AND MARK YOUNGBLOOD

This feud is really hot and heavy. Whether in the TV Studio or out on the road, these two teams can’t seem to be in the same place without attacking each other. The Kansas Jayhawks come to the ring in their black cowboy hats and bull whips and the speakers play “My Heroes Have Always Been Cowboy,” by Willie Nelson. The champions, Strongbow and Youngblood, come to the ring with traditional Indian Headdresses and War Paint on their faces but this time they are also carrying leather Indian straps and whipping them like the Jayhawks are whipping their bull ropes. The match is a great showcase of both teams talent and includes many momentum changes. It appeared a few times that we might have new champions as Dirty Dutch hit Strongbow with a huge running elbow drop and “The Hangman” Bobby Jaggers connected with a Reverse Neckbreaker but both times the champions saved their titles by breaking up the pin attempt. Youngblood also almost gained the victory when he connected with a fall down back body drop. As the Ref Jerry Calhoun was making the count against Jaggers, Mantel rushed in and broke up the count. This lead to all four men in the ring at the same time. After a few minutes of 2 on 2, Dutch Mantel rolls out of the ring and grabs both bull ropes. He whips Strongbow with one and then Youngblood with the other. Both Indians are on the ground rolling in pain. Mantel tosses the other bull rope to Jaggers and they just whip away at Strongbow and Youngblood. Ref Paul Morton calls for the bell to disqualify the Jayhawks but right now they just whip away. Eventually the stop but they really put a hurting on Strongbow and Youngblood.

 

Jules Strongbow and Mark Youngblood win by DQ and retain their belts at 15:12.

 

 

MATCH 5: HACKSAW BUTCH REED VS TROY GRAHAM (1^st Round of the CWA Tournament)

Hacksaw Butch Reed, the NWA Mid-American Champion is undefeated since his arrival in the CWA back in October and he is hoping to trade in his Mid-American Title for the CWA Heavyweight Championship. Crowd favorite, Troy Graham stands in his way and this match was all anyone could expect. It was back and forth as Graham was able to use his unorthodox brawling style to keep Reed off balance. Graham was dancing and wiggling all around the ring and mixing in haymakers and elbows that kept Reed confused. Reed finally blocked an attempted bodyslam and then took over with a massive slam of his own. From here a short arm clothesline followed by a double underhook suplex had Reed in complete control. A might Gorilla Press Slam was all she wrote as ref Jerry Calhoun made the count of three.

 

Butch Reed pins Try Graham at 16:12.

 

 

MATCH 6: AUSTIN IDOL VS MOONDOG MORETTI (First Round of the CWA Tournament)

Moondog Moretti, a former tag team champion here in the CWA is trying his hand at singles but he is going to have his hands full with the Universal Heartthrob Austin Idol. Moretti comes to the ring all decked out in his dog apparel including a studded dog collar and studded wrist guards. Idol is looking for revenge from the other day when Moretti attacked him during his television match. Idol struts to the ring in a purple glittered vest that shows off his biceps and a black leather cap.

The match starts and it is pretty even. Both men have real power but Idol is having trouble dealing with the 315 pound Moretti. In fact, Moretti got Idol in a huge powerslam and appeared to have the victory but Idol got his leg on the rope at the count of 2. Idol was able to regroup by rolling out of the ring. Moretti followed him out and the two brawled on the floor. Moretti went for a knee drop but missed and hit his knee on the cement floor. Idol was able to capitalize on this and worked on the leg when they were both inside the ring. Idol was able to hit a bodyslam on the huge Moretti and then snapped in the Las Vegas Leg Lock for the victory.

 

Idol wins by submission at 12:12

 

MATCH 7: Mr. WRESTLING II VS STAN HANSEN (First round of the CWA Tournament)

 

What a match this is going to be. Mr. Wrestling II recently appeared in the CWA to help JYD battle Ladd’s army. While not having all that many matches, he was ranked in the top 7 here in Memphis Wrestling on November 15^th. This was the date used by Jerry Jarrett to determine who would be eligible for the tournament.

In recent months, Hansen almost captured the AWA Southern Heavyweight Title from Jerry Lawler. Stan “The Man” Hansen is one nasty hombre and 2 better be at his best. When the match starts, it is obvious that 2 is not afraid of Hansen as they battle back and forth. 2 gains control on the match when he ducked under a lariat and came off the ropes and connected with a forearm to the head. Hansen fell back and accidently knocked into ref Paul Morton. 2 then connected with a running knee lift but Morton was not able to make the count as he was still down. II went to help Morton and this was all that Hansen needed. Hansen now went on a wild attack that saw the 321 pounder from Borger, Texas on the verge of victory. He connected with a Belly to Belly Suplex and a running lariat. Somehow II was able to kick out each time. Hansen even strapped in the Brazos Valley Backbreaker (Boston Crab) but Mr. Wrestling II refused to give up. Hansen dragged II to the middle of the ring and lifted Mr. Wrestling II up and jumped high in the air

 

WHAM….. A Huge Spike Piledriver. A move recently legalized here in Memphis. Morton completed the three count and Hansen survived this first round match.

MATCH 8: JUNK YARD DOG VS ERNIE LADD (First Round of the CWA Tournament)

This match is not only a first round match in the tournament but it is also to decide which wrestle gets to enter the ring in the CWA to “Another One Bites the Dust. Ladd, just to be his usual obnoxious self, starting using JYD’s entrance song about a month ago.

Since they both come out to the same music, when the first sound blares from the speakers, the fans don’t know whether to cheer or boo so they do nothing. When they see it is Ladd, they are all over him. Ladd gives it right back on his walk to the ring. When Queen plays the second time, JYD is meet with raucous cheers. He is truly one of the most popular wrestlers in the world.

The match is everything you would expect! A brawl to end all brawls! The match takes place inside and outside and there is very little that resembles a wrestling match. It is a war as these two really dislike each other. When Ladd missies a Big Boot JYD comes off the ropes and connects with a forearm smash. From there JYD hits 3 consecutive headbutts and has Ladd reeling. After an Irish Whip, JYD goes for a Big Thump (powerslam) but he can’t hold the big 320 pounder. Both men are down and it is a race to get to their feet. Ladd gets up first but JYD is right behind. JYD throws a big right but Ladd ducks under and connects with a taped thumb thrust to the throat. Ref Jerry Calhoun warns Ladd about that illegal tactic. Ladd denies it but this talk gives JYD a chance to regroup. JYD starts howling at the moon and there is nothing that can stop him now as the crowd is 100% behind him. JYD again uses his head as a weapon and whips Ladd into the ropes. He goes for another BIG THUMP and barely connects it. He goes for the pin and gets the 1..2..3.

 

JYD defeats Ernie Ladd by pin at 19:34 and moves on to the second round. He also reclaims “Another One Bites The Dust” as his and his only entrance song.

 

 

MATCH 9: 20 MAN OVER THE TOP BATTLE ROYAL: WINNER GETS LAST SPOT IN CWA TOURNAMENT

The entire CWA roster who has yet to earn a spot in the tournament has entered with the exception of the Rock n Roll Express and The Sheepherders who will meet tonight in the Main Event.

The Battle Royal starts as normal with those currently feuding going after each other. After about 5 minutes, the field is down to the following 10 people: Tony Atlas, The Dream Machine, Lord Humongous, Hercules Hernandez, Mr. Saito, and Killer Khan. Dutch Mantel, Don Kernodle, Pat Rose and Nightmare #1.

10^th Place: Pat Rose eliminated by Lord Humongous after a Big Boot

9^th Place: Dutch Mantel eliminated by Tony Atlas after a Gorilla Press Slam over the top rope

8^th Place: Nightmare #1: Eliminated by Don Kernodle after a running clothesline

7^th Place: Mr. Saito: Eliminated himself after going for his own clothesline on Kernodle and missing

6^th Place: Don Kernodle: Eliminated by Lord Humongous who simply threw Kernodle over the top rope

5^th Place: Hercules Hernandez eliminated by Tony Atlas who just overpowered Hercules

4^th Place: Killer Khan: Eliminated by Tony Atlas and The Dream Machine in a 2-1 attack

 

Tony Atlas and The Dream Machine turn their attention on Humongous. As they close in, he runs at them and nails them with a double clothesline. From here it is a simple as picking up Machine and Atlas and tossing them over the top rope. What an impressive feat. Lord Humongous eliminated 7 wrestlers all by himself. Remember, recently he beat Jerry Lawler twice in the AWA. He might just be the favorite of the 8 contenders left in this tournament!

 

 

 

MATCH 10: AWA SOUTHERN TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH

ROCK n ROLL EXPRESS VS THE SHEEPHERDERS with JR FOLEY

 

The Rock N Roll Express, the AWA Southern Tag Team Champions enter the ring to KISS and “Rock N Roll All Night.” The fans are excited to see their champs after a tough battle last week with the Wild Samoans. That match also led to this as the Sheepherders attacked the RnR Express after that bout. While the Sheepherders have not been named the new #1 contender yet for the Rock n Roll Express’s belts, Morton and Gibson demanded this match after they were once again attacked on TV this week. The Sheepherders actually broke the Tag Team of The Year Award over the Rock n Roll Express’s head and left they bloodied. The Sheepherders with their disgraceful manager, JR Foley make their way to the ring taunting each and every fan along the way.

As the match starts, it is the RnR Express who takes control but it is short lived. Both teams are so talented on defense and in the art of tag team wrestling that there are many quick tags and reversals in the early going. The Sheepherders take control after a double team on Gibson that included many kicks and punches. After one more tag, Gibson was on the canvass after a massive headbutt from Butch Miller. From here, Miller tossed Gibson out of the ring where Foley was lurking. Morton rushed over to try and prevent any dirty tactics but this just turned out to be all 4 brawling out on the floor, as ref Paul Morton started the 10 count, it looked like both teams were going to be counted out but at the last second, Gibson and Miller got back in the ring. On his way back to his corner, Morton nailed Foley to the delight of the crowd. Inside the ring, both Sheepherders just went wild on Gibson. When the ref finally restores order it looked like Gibson was in huge trouble. Somehow he made it to his corner and tagged in Ricky Morton. Morton just cleared house, taking on both Sheepherders at the same time. Again all 4 men were in the ring in an all-out brawl. The ref decided he had no choice but to call for the bell. This did not stop the fighting. Morton had Williams and Gibson had Miller. They whipped the two into each other and they both went flying. Robert Gibson grabbed JR Foley who was on the apron. He flipped him into the ring. Morton now grabbed Foley and Irish whipped him into the ropes.

WHAM…… Foley was hit with a big double dropkick!

 

 

The Sheepherders and Foley are outside the ring yelling and screaming at the Rock n Roll Express who now have control of the ring and are daring the Sheepherders to come back in.

The Sheepherders and Foley think better of it and stomp off to the locker room.

 

The crowd goes wild as the Sheepherders leave the arena.

Lance Russell: "Hello again, everybody! Lance Russell and Dave Brown here again for CWA Wrestling in Memphis, TN. Let’s get right to our first segment, “This Week in the CWA.” Dave take it away.

 

Dave Brown: Well thank you Lance and great to be with you and all the wrestling fans here in the CWA. What a week it was in the CWA. The second round of the CWA Heavyweight Championship tournament has been set and here is the list of matches to take place at the Mid-South Coliseum on Monday, January 9^th.

· Jerry Lawler vs Roddy Piper

· Butch Reed vs Junk Yard Dog

· Lord Humongous vs Bruiser Brody

· Austin Idol vs Stan Hansen

 

MATCH OF THE WEEK: This week we have co-winners

 

1. Jerry Lawler vs Roddy Piper in Nashville, TN at the State Fair Grounds

This match was for the AWA Southern Heavyweight Title and if Lawler won, he would get 5 minutes alone with JR Foley. This match was back and forth and nearing the 30 minute time limit saw Roddy Piper get disqualified for a low blow. Piper was forced to leave the arena and follow was ushered into the ring for 5 minutes with Lawler. Just as Lawler was about to beat JR Foley to a pulp, the Sheepherders rushed in and doubled team Lawler. Lawler was in serious trouble when a wrestler making his first appearance in the CWA in almost a year came in and by himself cleared the ring of Foley and The Sheepherders. Who was it you ask? You will have to wait just a minute to find out.

 

2. Mr. USA Tony Atlas vs Hacksaw Butch Reed in an arm-wrestling match

This also took place at the Tennessee State Fairgrounds and the stakes were high. If Atlas won, he would become the new #1 contender for the NWA Mid-American Title. If Reed won, he would be given the next World Title shot here in the CWA. The match saw a lot of pre-match gesturing and yelling about hand positions and grip. When they finally got it on, neither man could move the other’s arm an inch. Slowly, Reed started to power Atlas down but Atlas started to shake and pull with all his might. When Reed was about an inch away from losing, he sucker punched Atlas with his left hand. He then went nuts for the next few minutes hitting Atlas with anything he could find including the arm-wrestling table and a chair. Atlas was busted wide open but was granted the victory by DQ. Tony Atlas is the new #1 contender for Reed’s belt.

 

TAG TEAM OF THE WEEK: The Nightmares

 

Last week on television, we all saw the Nightmares gain a non-title victory over the NWA Mid-American Tag Titles. This upset victory has landed them with their first CWA Tag Team of the Week Award.

 

WRESTLER OF THE WEEK: ?

 

Never before has our wrestler of the week been given to a wrestler who did not even wrestle a match but this man may have just turned the tide in the entire CWA with his return. We talked about a wrestler who helped Lawler fend off the Sheepherders a little while ago. Well this wrestler is none other than “Superstar” Bill Dundee. That’s right folks, Superstar Dundee has reunited with Jerry Lawler and together along with Austin Idol they believe then can fend off the likes of The House of Humperdink, Ladd’s Army, The Shogunate and The Commonwealth.

 

Lastly, the schedule for the CWA Tournament has a slight change. The semi-finals and finals will be on the same night. That night is going to be January 16^th at the Mid-South Coliseum. This is also the night the CWA will host The Night of Dreams. This will be a huge night for the CWA and it is set to coincide with the nation’s first every Martin Luther King Jr. Day. This will be a night of wrestling like no other!

 

What a week it was in the CWA. Take it away Lance.

 

 

Lance Russell: “Wow Dave, what a week it has been. Before we get to the ring let’s call in Jerry Jarrett for a special announcement.

 

 

Lance Russell: Well Mr. Jarrett this is two weeks in a row. I understand you have something very special for the fans tonight.

 

 

Jerry Jarrett: That’s right Lance. As the leader of this company, I need to make sure everything is on the up and up. What the Sheepherders did in Nashville this past week cannot be allowed. Lawler defeated Piper due to Piper hitting Lawler with a low blow. The ref saw it and made the decision to disqualify Roddy Piper. I stand by that decision and frankly, it was the correct decision. Lawler by right had 5 minutes alone with JR Foley. Those minutes never occurred because of the Sheepherders. Well I am here now to tell you that those 5 minutes will occur. Tonight!

 

Jerry Jarrett: That’s right folks, the last five minutes of the show will be Jerry Lawler vs JR Foley and if any of Foley’s men interfere in that match they will be fined $1,000.00.

Lance Russell: Mr. Jarrett, thank you for that announcement and that will be some ending to our show tonight. Before we go to break, I would like to invite Private Don Kernodle to the interview desk.

 

 

Lance Russell: Well Don, I hear you have something to say to our fans tonight.

 

Don Kernodle: That’s right Lance. First of all, I would like to thank the CWA for giving me this chance to speak tonight. I wanted to say I am truly sorry for my wrestling recently here on CWA. I mean I gave a really poor showing last week on TV against Mr. Saito and before I go any further, I would like to thank Austin Idol for coming out to try and save my butt. Then last Monday at the Mid-South Coliseum I was embarrassed by Killer Khan. I mean totally dominated. This is not what my Marine Corp training has taught me. I am better than that and most of all, I lost to a couple of goons who trounce on the United States every chance they get. I am hoping to get another chance here in the CWA to do better.

 

 

Lance Russell: Now, now Tojo. This is not your time.

 

Tojo Yamamoto: Mis-tah Kernodtle. You seem so sad. You seem so upset. Mistah Kernodlte, I not sure why. Did you reaaally think you could defeat my men. Mr. Saito and Killer Khan are the best trained in the world. Not like your Marines. You have soft training. I have deal for you.

 

 

Don Kernodle: Us Americans are not in the art of making deals with people like you.

 

Tojo Yamamoto: Listen Mistah Kernodlte. You said you want another shot at my Shogunate. I am here to give it to you. This Monday Night, Mr. Saito will wrestle you in a flag match. If you capture the American Flag, you will win. If Mr. Saito captures the Japanese flag, he will win.

 

Don Kernodle: I accept your challenge and there is no way I am going to lose.

 

 

Lance Russell: We need to get some help out here. We need to get some help.

Sir Oliver Humperdinck: Well first of all, the CWA Board of Directors think they can stop Lord Humongous by matching him up with the Maniac Bruiser Brody. Brody! You have never met a man like this. The perfect wrestler. You should run now before you get hurt. In fact, the entire CWA should run now. I am a wealthy man and I am willing to put my money where my mouth is. I watched Ernie Ladd put a bounty of the mask of Troy Graham. Well I am putting up $5000 to any man that can last 5 minutes with any member of the House of Humperdink on our weekly television show. That’s right folks and I will double it for any tag team that can last 10 minutes with two of my men. They don’t even have to win. Just survive. But I warn each and every one of you that my men are monsters. Monsters that will feed on the blood of their opponents. With each victim, with each new flavor of blood, the House of Humperdink will grow stronger. The challenge starts right now!

 

Match #1: Buzz Sawyer and Hercules Hernandez vs Mike Jackson and Gary Royal

Sawyer is chained to his handler and Hercules Hernandez is breaking links off the huge chain around his neck. They are hooting and howling liked caged animals. They do not even wait for the ref to call for the bell. The double team Jackson and Royal and soon the ring is empty. That’s ok, they go out and ram their heads together and toss them back in the ring. Jackson and Sawyer are the legal men in the ring when the bell finally sounds. Another two head-butts followed by a piledriver has Jackson out but Mad Dog just drags him to Gary Royal and forces a tag. Sawyer tags in Hernandez and more mayhem ensues. Hercules puts Royal into a Full Nelson that almost breaks him in half.

 

 

 

The ref immediately calls for the bell as Humperdink’s men throw their opponents through the ropes onto the floor where the beating continues. Jackson is busted wide open but it looks like Sawyer is licking the blood off of Jackson’s face. Finally Humperdink corrals his men and heads back to the locker room laughing all the way. The match lasted less than 90 seconds.

 

Lance Russell: My oh my. The rest of the wrestler’s better hope these monsters don’t come after them. Let’s get right back to the ring for our second match.

 

Match #2: Tony Atlas vs Hacksaw Higgins

 

 

Mr. USA Tony Atlas comes to the ring to the approval of the crowd. He is in for a tough one tonight as he is giving away some height and weight to the 6’4, 280 pound Higgins. The match starts off collar and elbow and Higgins is surprised by the power of Atlas. He knows Atlas is in great shape but after being thrown to the corner like a rag doll, Hacksaw knows he needs to change his strategy. An eye rake gives him an opening and allows some power moves of his own including a big bodyslam. Atlas escapes and elbow drop and takes this chance to regain the momentum. From here, the fans are treated to a real strength show. A huge Military Press Slam finishes off Higgins at 6:11.

 

 

Lance Russell: Well Tony, congratulations on your win tonight and more importantly on your win against Hacksaw Reed the other night in your arm-wrestling match. You are now the new #1 contender for the NWA Mid-American Title.

 

Tony Atlas: Well thank you Lance. But I got one thing on my mind. That is Butch Reed. How dare you hit my with a sucker punch you yellow bellied coward! Then you dare to hit me with a table. I am going to get even and take your belt. Trust me, Lance, I am going to whoop up on that boy Butch Reed. I am going to beat him like his Mamma should have done. Taking that belt will be just like icing on a cake.

 

 

 

Lance Russell: Well that will be some match. I don’t think a date has been set as of yet but make sure you are there when it is. We need to take a break.

Ernie Ladd: Shut up Russell. Losing to that Uncle Tom you people call JYD was all part of a conspiracy. You think I don’t know what goes on beyond close doors. The CWA Board of Directors does whatever they can to stop me from winning. That includes paying off Fast Count Frank or whatever that ref’s name was last week but my people are so used to this. Now we will focus on Butch Reed and his winning of the CWA Title.

 

Lance Russell: Well Hacksaw, what you think of your quarterfinal match on January 9^th at the Mid-South Coliseum with Junk Yard Dog. The same man who beat your boss, Ernie Ladd.

 

 

Hacksaw Reed: Make now mistake now Lance Russell. I AM MY OWN BOSS.

 

 

Hacksaw Reed: Ernie and I just seem to share the same view. Ernie’s defeat has nothing to do with my match. That Dog might have howled in his last match but on January 9^th he will be running with his hind legs between his tails. Now as for, Mr. Tony Atlas. He thinks I am afraid of him. Well Hacksaw is going to hound him down 24 hours a day. If need to, I will rent a house right next to him. He is going to have to sleep with one eye open. Remember this, he never officially beat me in that arm wrestling. Yet, that fake leader of ours, Jerry Jarrett gave him the victory and cheated me out of a World Title Shot! Atlas! Jarrett! I am going to make you both pay.

 

Lance Russell: Mr. Reed did you not sucker punch Tony Atlas right there in the ring in Nashville the other night.

 

Hacksaw Reed: Watch your mouth Russell! I might just sucker punch you right here and now.

 

 

 

Lance Russell: Let’s get to the ring for our next match

 

 

Match #3: The Kansas Jayhawks vs Pat Rose and Brett Wayne

 

The Kansas Jayhawks come to the ring side and start cracking their bull ropes as Willie Nelson blares “My Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys.” Both Dutch Mantel and Bobby Jaggers have added a thin cigar to their appearance. While Rose and Wayne both had their moments in the ring, the Jayhawks used some real slick double teaming moves and had the ref really confused. Every time Rose and Wayne went for a tag, the other Jayhawk would rush in and get the refs attention and then he would miss the tag. In the end, the Jayhawks just wore down their opponents and the end came after a reverse neck-breaker by Jaggers on Pat Rose.

 

The Kansas Jayhawks defeat Pat Rose and Brett Wayne by pinfall.

 

 

Lance Russell: Well please don’t light those cigars near me.

 

Dutch Mantel: Are you a man or a women Lance Russell. Well it makes no difference. Those Injuns we have been battling are some real women. I mean they come out in these leather boots and headdresses and make up on their faces with these thin straps they carry. Let me tell you something, I got no respect for them two. Jules Strongbow and Mark Youngblood, your time is over.

 

Bobby Jaggers: Listen up you two and you listen up real good to Mr. Jerry Jarrett. It’s time we put these ropes to use. How about a leather strap match. All 4 of us tied together with an 8 foot leather strap. No place to run to. NO place to hide! How about it! Monday, January 16^th for the titles. That is if you are not yella!

 

 

Lance Russell: We will be just have to wait to see if that match gets sanctioned by Jerry Jarrett. We will be right back after this message.

 

 

COMMERCIAL PLAYS FOR JERRY LAWLER’S NEW RESTAURANT

 

 

 

 

Lance Russell: Well Dream Machine, what do you think of Ernie Ladd placing a $10,000 bounty on that mask of yours. He said he is willing to pay anybody just to prove that you are Troy Graham and that you have been attacking his army in such illegal ways that Jerry Jarrett would be forced to suspend you.

 

The Dream Machine: I think it is wonderful. I have him just where I want him. He is so convinced that I am Troy, he is dropping his guard. The more he drops it, the easier it is for me to put him in his place. I mean I have already forced Big Red Reese and King Cobra out of Memphis. Soon his whole army will abandoned him and I will put him out of wrestling.

 

Lance Russell: Well, I hope you are right. But right now, you have a match against a big and powerful man. Let’s get back to the ring.

 

 

Match #4: The Dream Machine vs Moondog Moretti

 

The match is wild and back and forth but is almost all brawling rather than wrestling. Every chance Moretti got, he went for the mask which might have cost him the match. Dream ducked under a running forearm and began to take control. He was throwing wild haymakers when all of a sudden Hacksaw Higgins hit the ring. Higgins is Moretti’s tag partner and the two went wild on Dream. Moretti whip Dream into the ropes and connected with a huge powerslam by the 315 menace. As soon as that move was complete, Higgins hit the ropes and leveled leaped into the air connecting The Dream Machine was in real trouble and unable to defend himself. It looked like Moretti was just about to rip off the mask and then he and Higgins could split the bounty when Sweet Brown Sugar and Tony Atlas hit the ring and chase Moretti and Higgins away. The Dream Machine adjusts he twisted mask as Sweet Brown Sugar and Tony Atlas help him to his feet. The crowd goes wild.

 

The Dream Machine wins by DQ at 5:56.

 

Lance Russell: Well I have a bad feeling that The Dream Machine is going to have to deal with this a lot now that Ladd has placed that $10,000 bounty on his mask.

 

 

 

 

Lance Russell: Well, what a wonderful surprise this is. We have not seen you 3 together all on the same page in quite some time.

 

Superstar Dundee: Lance, it is wonderful to be back here in Memphis. This is where I am meant to be. Jerry made a call to me a week ago and said the deck here was pretty stacked against Austin and him. He explained about that lowlife Sir Oliver Humperdink and how he has brought in three wild animals. He explained that Yamamoto is back in town and he brought Saito and Killer Khan. He explained that JR Foley is spreading this garbage about the superiority of the British Commonwealth and that he has Rowdy Roddy Piper and the Sheepherders in his stable. Well, I know at times Jerry and I have had our differences. I know that at times Austin on I are not on the same page but that’s because we are family. Families fight all the time and that’s ok but when someone messes with your family, you go out them like wild dogs! That’s what is happening here and I am going after that low down dirty dog, Roddy Piper until he can’t even put on his kilt by himself!

 

Lance Russell: Well Austin, I don’t see that champagne bottle that you have been carrying around.

 

Austin Idol: That’s because it is empty Lance. The Universal Heartthrob had a wild party the other night in Nashville. I mean our brother, Superstar Dundee came back to town. What a reason to party. Throw in the limo rides and the beautiful women of Nashville and I guarantee you Lance, there was more than one empty bottle of Don Perion. And don’t you worry, when Jerry or I win that CWA Heavyweight Championship, there will be more bottles being emptied.

 

Lance Russell: And what about you King. 5 minutes with JR Foley. Tonight on TV!

 

Jerry Lawler: Oh baby Lance. I have been waiting for quite some time for this. I am going to make him eat that Commonwealth flag of is then I am going to stomp him so hard and so often that he might not wake up till Independence Day!

 

Lance Russell: Well fans that is next and remember, if any wrestler interferes in that match, Jerry Jarrett will personally fine them $1000. We will be right back.

 

 

 

 

Lance Russell: Well Mr. Foley, I think they are waiting for you in the ring already. Should you not be in your wrestling attire?

 

JR Foley: Now why would I have wrestling attire? I am not a wrestler. I am a manager. If Jerry Jarrett wants me in the ring, he is going to have to produce a wrestling license with my name and signature on it. I know that I have not signed one so I am not getting in the ring.

 

 

Lane Russell: Well, I am unsure of what is going to happen. I mean, I believe that Mr. Jarrett has left the building and is headed to the CWA offices in downtown Memphis.

 

JR Foley: Well I am not getting in the ring and if any one makes me, I have a whole team of lawyers waiting to sue Jerry Lawler, Jerry Jarrett, the CWA Board of Directors and even you Lance Russell.

 

Lance Russell: Me? What is heaven’s sake for?

 

 

Jerry Lawler: Let me get this straight, if I lay one finger on you in the ring, you are going to sue me?

 

JR Foley: That’s right Jerry Lawler. If anyone touches me in that ring, I will file a lawsuit so fast, you won’t know what hit you.

 

Jerry Lawler: Ok but I will tell you one thing, you will know what hit you!

Lance Russell: "Hello again, everybody! Lance Russell and Dave Brown here again for CWA Wrestling in Memphis, TN. Let’s get right to our first segment, “This Week in the CWA.” Dave take it away.

 

Dave Brown: Well thank you Lance and great to be with you and all the wrestling fans here in the CWA. What a week it was in the CWA. Let’s get right to the results in the CWA Tournament from last Monday night at the Mid-South Coliseum.

 

· Jerry Lawler defeated Roddy Piper by DQ as Piper was caught with a foreign object.

· Butch Reed defeated Junk Yard Dog with aid from Ernie Ladd

· Lord Humongous defeated Bruiser Brody in a wild barnburner of a match

· Austin Idol defeated Stan Hansen by count out

 

The Semifinals have been set for Monday, August 16^th at the Mid-South Coliseum Night of Dreams, a wrestling card to honor the late Martin Luther King Jr on his first national holiday. In the first Semifinal it will be Lord Humongous vs Austin Idol and in the second, it will be The King, Jerry Lawler vs Hacksaw Butch Reed. The winners of those two matches will meet later that night in the main event to become the first ever CWA Champion.

 

MATCH OF THE WEEK: Lord Humongous vs Bruiser Brody

 

Not sure the CWA has ever seen a more violent match. It was inside the ring, it was outside the ring. It was one power move after another. Both wrestlers were hurt by the other but the end it was a clean victory for Humongous after back to back Ax Handle smashes to the temple of Brody. Humongous is causing havoc since his arrival in Memphis. He must be considered the favorite for the CWA Title at Match of Dreams at the Mid-South Coliseum next Monday Night.

 

TAG TEAM OF THE WEEK: Sweet Dreams

The Dream Machine gained two clean victories this week. One over the up and coming Nightmares at the UTC Arena in Chattanooga, TN and the other against the former NWA Mid-American Champs, Moondog Moretti and Hacksaw Higgins at the Soldiers and Sailors Arena in Evansville, Indiana. This victory was a revenge victory as Sweet Dreams got even with the former champs for their actions here in studio last week where they tried to take the mask of The Dream Machine and collect the $10,000 reward from Ernie Ladd. Things are really heating up for Sweet Dreams but they will soon face their Arch-enimies, The Midnight Bruise Brothers, Norvell Austin and Porkchop Cash. This match is also scheduled for The Mid-South Coliseum on January 16^th.

 

WRESTLER OF THE WEEK: Pvt. Don Kernodle

 

Sometimes it is not the match you win or the move you hit but what you stand for. Don Kernodle has become a role model for the CWA Wrestling fans. He continues to stand up to Tojo Yamamoto and his men, Mr. Saito and Killer Khan. He doesn’t care if its 1-1 or 3-1. He will never back down and that is what America stands for. This past Monday Night he gained an upset victory in a Flag Match as he captured the American Flag to defeat Mr. Saito. The best part of this match was that Tojo Yamamoto tried to interfere in the match by giving Saito a foreign object but it was stolen by Kernodle who used it against Saito and sent him into Never Never Land. For this, CWA salutes you and is honored to give you this award.

 

 

Lance Russell: “Wow Dave, it truly is an honor to watch Pvt. Don Kernodle and his unwillingness to back down. That is also going to be some card at the Coliseum this Monday night. In fact, I have already been told that the NWA World Champion will be in the building that night for his second title defense here in Memphis. Just who he will wrestle will be determined tonight in our Main Event. It will be Roddy Piper vs Tony Atlas. The first man to gain a pin or submission will receive the shot at the World Title. Well what a night this is going to be. Let’s get right to the ring for our first match.

 

MATCH #1: Mr. Saito with Tojo Yamamoto vs Shane Douglas

This is Shane Douglas’s first ever bout and it really shows. Saito dominates him and the end comes just 3:11 in as Saito connects with a Saito Suplex. After the ref made the three count, Saito continued his beating on Douglas. After a few minutes of the attack, Saito put Douglas into the Prison Lock, a modified kneeling Figure 4. From the back came Pvt. Don Kernodle to protect Douglas. Kernodle and Saito went at it for a few moments before Killer Khan hit the ring. Saito held Kernodle as Khan chopped away. Saito continued to hold Khan who was about to spray the Asian Green Mist into the eyes of Kernodle. From the stands came a stranger to the CWA who went right after Khan while throwing haymakers. Kernodle also broke free from Saito and went on the attack. Together, Kernodle and the stranger cleaned the ring. The Shogunate and Tojo thought about re-entering the ring but thought better of it as they retreated to the locker room. Kernodle looks at the stranger and a lightbulb seemed to go off in his head. The two hugged and then helped Shane Douglas to his feet and escorted him back to the locker room.

 

Lance Russell: Well that was very interesting. It seemed that Pvt. Kernodle knew that stranger and together they really cleared the ring. We will have to get to the bottom of this but right now we need to take our first commercial break. People in Arkansas, take a look at these great shows as the CWA is returning to the Natural State.

Lance Russell: Well, Sir Oliver Humperdinck! What words of wisdom do you have for us tonight?

 

Sir Oliver Humperdinck: Well, I got two things to my mind Pencil Nose and just shut and up listen. First of all, I warned you guys of the devastation of my new House of Humperdink. I am only 2 days away from owning the first CWA Heavyweight Title. That’s right, Lord Humongous is, as I said, an unstoppable machine. The other thing is that my entire new stable of wrestlers has yet to lose in the CWA and that streak will continue next. Remember, I have an open challenge that will pay any wrestler $5000.00 that can last 5 minutes with any of my men. Let’s get to the ring so that one of my monsters can feed on the blood of the next loser.

 

Match #2: Hercules Hernandez vs whatever wrestler answers the challenge

Hercules Hernandez is breaking links off the huge chain around his neck. They are hooting and howling liked caged animals. The fans are wondering if anyone will even dare to enter the ring against that muscle –bound monster. They get excited as Sweet Brown Sugar answers the challenge. As the ref calls for the bell, it is obvious that Sugar is not going to run and hide and try to just survive the 5 minutes. The match starts with the masked Sweet Brown Sugar reversing a few of Hernandez’s holds and keeping the Giant of balance. Eventually though, the power is just too much. Hernandez gets Sugar in a Back Breaker Rack and nearly breaks him in half as Sweet Brown Sugar is screaming in pain. He is waving frantically to the ref to call for the bell. Hernandez just throws him to the ground and grins as he is the victory in just over 4 minutes.

 

Lance Russell: Wow, I really thought that Sweet Brown Sugar was going to give Hercules Hernandez a fight but he is just way too powerful. Another week gone and Humperdink gets to keep his $5000. Let’s get right back to the ring and what a treat this is going to be. Superstar Bill Dundee back in action right here in Memphis.

 

Match #3: Superstar Bill Dundee vs Gary Royal

 

Well the fans are excited to see Superstar Dundee back in Memphis but they hope he and Lawler can stay on the same page. They have been on the same side before but it doesn’t always last for very long. In this match, Dundee wows the fans with his willingness to fight. At only 5’7 and 212 pounds it is amazing what he gets done in the ring. The match ended after Dundee connected with a flying cross body block and then followed it up with a Spike Piledriver. Dundee gained the pin at 5:00.

Lance Russell: Well, Superstar, congratulations on your successful return to the CWA.

 

Superstar Dundee: Well thank you Lance. It is great to be back and I know there are a lot of great wrestlers here. I just wanted to wish both Jerry Lawler and Austin Idol success in their upcoming matches in the CWA tournament but I also wanted to call out one Mr. Rowdy Roddy Piper. Brother, we are from the same country. Both born and bred in the highlands of Scotland but where do you come off with this pompous arrogance. We are both here for the same reason. To try and be successful in the greatest wrestling organization there is. Period. You and Foley preach your greatness and the greatness of the Commonwealth. Well keep acting this way and I am going to put my foot where the sun don’t shine Mr. Piper.

 

Lance Russell: Well thanks Superstar. It is about time someone is willing to stand up to Piper and Jr. Foley. We will be right back after a short break.

I am a patient man but brother whenever Mr. Jerry Jarrett signs that match, Butch Reed is going to know that he was in a fight. I am going to give it 100% and I am looking forward to putting that Big Mouth in his place. I asked for that match on to be set for January 3^rd and now we already in the middle of the month. We all know he is ducking me but he can’t run. He says he is going to move in next store to my house just so he can beat me every day! Well so far, I aint seen no moving trucks. Just a yellow bellied coward is all he is.

 

Lance Russell: Well Tony, good luck in your match for the NWA Mid-American Title whenever it is.

Match #4: Sweet Dreams vs The Nightmares

 

The Dream Machine and Sweet Brown Sugar come to the ring to a loud approval of the fans. They are in for a tough battle tonight as the Nightmares are quickly moving up the tag team ranks. The match is a back and forth match but the one thing that is noticed is that the Nightmares are all business. They, unlike everyone else The Dream Machine has faced lately is not going for the mask of The Dream Machine. Folks, remember Ernie Ladd has placed a $10,000 bounty on the mask of The Dream Machine. Maybe it is out of respect for the mask as the Nightmares also wear them or it could be because they are just focused on the win. The match is really back and forth and at one point all 4 men are outside the ring. This is when the crowd started to roar. Ernie Ladd, Porkchop Cash and Norvell Austin hit the floor. All 3 immediately go for The Dream Machine in hopes of taking off his mask. This only went on for a few seconds before Tony Atlas rushes out and cleans house all by himself. The ref has ruled the math a no contest because the interference was not to aid the Nightmares but to further Ladd’s own objectives.

 

 

Lance Russell: Well Mr. Ladd. Enough is enough. When is this going to end? You ruined a perfectly good match.

 

Ernie Ladd: Shut up Russell. I am sick and tired on the hypocrites that run CWA as they allow this menace to society to continue to parade around as a wrestler. He is nothing more than a two bit thug. When I get that mask off and show everyone it is Troy Graham, Jarret will have no choice but to suspend him Trust me Russell, that mask is coming off. Dutch Mantel: Are you a man or a women Lance Russell. Well it makes no difference.

 

Lance Russell: Well Mr. Ladd. I have two questions for you. How is you interfering in this match ok when you claim that is what he did? Two wrongs don’t make a right and the second thing. Where was Hacksaw Butch Reed when your Army attacked? Did we see a little dissention in the ranks last week or is he backing down from Tony Atlas as Tony claims.

 

Ernie Ladd: Didn’t I tell you to shut up!

COMMERCIAL PLAYS FOR JERRY LAWLER’S NEW RESTAURANT

 

 

 

Lance Russell: Thanks for giving us a few moments of your time. Last week, Dutch Mantel and Bobby Jaggers challenged you to a strap match where all 4 men will be strapped together at the same time for the NWA Mid-American Titles.

Jules Strongbow: That’s correct Lance and both Mark and myself are true fighting champions. We accept there challenge for this Monday Night at Night of Dreams.

 

Mark Youngblood: I can’t wait to be tied to those low down dirty wanna be Cowboys. These leather straps are part of our culture and by the end of this they will be beaten and sore they will never want to step in the ring with us again.

 

 

Lance Russell: Well short and sweet. I guess this feud is really coming to a head. Let’s get to the ring for our Main Event. This match will be TV Time Remaining.

 

Match #4: MAIN EVENT: Austin Idol and Jerry Lawler vs Lord Humongous and Butch Reed .

 

Maybe the best main event Memphis has seen on TV in a long long time. Lawler and Idol are the obvious fan favorites and have much more experience as a team but Reed and Humongous are so big and strong it will be interesting. It will also be interesting to see how these guys try take each other out as these are the 4 Finalists in the CWA Championship Tournament. Idol and Reed start that match and as you would expect, it is a brawl from start to finish. The match continues with a series of tags but it is obvious that Lawler and Idol have no answer for the power of Reed and Humongous. Lawler becomes isolated in the ring as Reed and Humongous just pound on him. Each time Idol tries to get in to help his partner, ref Jerry Calhoun just forces him out which allows for more double teaming from his opponents. With only a few seconds left in the show, Humongous hits a two handed choke slam and goes for the cover. Idol again rushes in but Reed catches his with a short armed clothesline that knocks him out of the ring. Calhoun completes the 1-2-3 on Lawler and the crowd is in shock to see their heroes fall so easily. Reed and Humongous just look at each other as they know they may soon be opponents. Lawler is laid out on the mat and Idol on the floor as the credits start to role.

 

Lance Russell: What a night I going to be at the Mid-South Coliseum. This Monday, January 16^th.

The stuff for Jerry's restaurant is a great touch!

 

Buzz & Hernandez vs. Brody/Hansen is a killer matchup, I absolutely love all 4. I think Herc is pretty underrated historically in this period from what I've read. He was really interesting to watch, if not the most technically perfect.

Dundee vs. Piper is an inspired pairing that I think would have done really well.

No doubt Lawler vs Reed will be a MOTY candidate for me.

NIGHT OF DREAMS

IN HONOR OF THE FIRST MLK JR. DAY

 

MATCH #1:

DON KERNODLE & MYSTERY PARTNER VS KILLER KHAN & MR. SAITO with Tojo Yamamoto

PVT. Don Kernodle comes to the ring first with the man who jumped into the ring from the stands last Saturday night on TV when he was attacked by Saito and Khan. The ring announcers introduces him as Cpl. Kirchner from Ft. Bragg, North Carolina weighing in at 263 pounds.

Tojo Yamamoto leads his men to the ring and Khan and Saito are really giving it to the fans at ringside.

As for the match, it is really back and forth but Tojo seems to really be involved every time the action spills out onto the floor. The match turned after a football tackle by Cpl. Kirchner on Mr. Saito. He followed that up with a Corporal Clutch and it looked like Saito was going to submit. Yamamoto got up on the apron and distracted the ref which allowed Khan to come in and catch Kirchner with the Asian Green Mist to the eyes. Khan rushed across and knocked Kernodle off the apron. Saito now alert caught Kirchner in a Saito Suplex and that was all she wrote.

 

· The Shogunate defeated The FT. Bragg Brothers in Arms by pin at 11:43.

 

MATCH #2

BRUSIER BRODY & STAN HANSEN

VS

HERCULES HERNANDEZ & BUZZ SAWYER with SIR OLIVER HUMPERDINK

The team of Brody and Hansen was recently formed down in Florida and they are a team to be reckon with as you could imagine. Humperdink also has a really good team under his wing in Sawyer and Hernandez. The fans are trusting Brody in that this is the first time that Hansen has come into Memphis as a fan favorite. Humperdink has Mad Dog Buzz Sawyer chained to a dog collar and has him on a short leash while Hernandez has a huge chain wrapped around his huge neck and really looks intimidating. The House of Humperdink is undefeated since it was redone about a month ago.

This match is wild and chaotic from the start as you would expect. All men have connected on some really powerful moves. Brody hit a few mauling knee smashes but was never able to get a pin. Hansen was an absolute Wildman as he connected a lariat that almost took Sawyer’s head off. On the other side, Sawyer controlled Brody for a period of time and actually came of the top rope and connected with a huge frog splash but Hansen was able to break up the pin. The most impressive move of the night was when Hernandez actually got the 6’8 Brody up and slammed him down with an earth shattering Powerbomb. By the end, both teams were beaten, bruised and bloodied but nobody could can a pin. This match ended with all 4 men brawling inside the ring as the 20 minute time limit came to an end. What a match.

· Brody & Hansen vs The House of Humperdink ends in a time limit draw.

 

MATCH #3

Jerry Lawler vs Butch Reed: SEMI-FINAL FOR THE CWA CHAMPIONSHIP

What a matchup. Lawler, The current AWA Southern Heavyweight Champion vs Reed, The NWA Mid-American Champion who is also undefeated since coming to the CWA in November. The fans are a little nervous as they hope their King can become the first CWA Champion but they have never witnessed someone as dominate as Hacksaw Reed. Reed is accompanied to the ring by Ernie Ladd who really has no business being out there. Lawler is all over ref Paul Morton but he seems intimidated by Ladd and does nothing about it.

As for the match, it is a well fought battle that was back and forth. Lawler connected with his patented fist drop and had Reed locked in a sleeper but Reed battled back. He came close to a victory after a Gorilla Press Slam but Lawler was able to get a foot on the rope. After an attempted Irish Whip by Reed, Lawler slammed into the ref knocking him to the floor. With the ref on the ground and in trouble, Ladd entered the ring and connected with a Big Boot to Lawler’s head. Ladd demanded that Reed hold Lawler for one more boot. This time he came off the ropes and at the last second Lawler broke free from Reed. Ladd hit Reed with the Big Boot just as the ref came to. Lawler covered Reed for the 1…2…3.

WOW, Lawler advances to the final as Reed suffers his first loss in the CWA. As he gets to his feet, you can see he is obviously upset at Ernie Ladd. Ladd just shakes his head as the two head back to the locker room. The crowd loves that their hero is still in the tournament.

 

· Jerry Lawler defeats Butch Reed by pin after interference by Ladd at 18:03.

 

MATCH 4:

AUSTIN IDOL VS LORD HUMONGOUS with SIR OLIVER HUMPERDINK

From the beginning to the end of this match, the crowd was on edge. While the really wanted Idol to win, they were concerned what would happen if he did. Lawler and Idol have been on the same page for a while but that has not always been the case here in the CWA. Could a match for the CWA Title between the two rupture this friendship?

As the match went on, it did not seem as if that would ever be a concern. Humongous was tossing Idol around like a rag doll. From pillar to post, it was all Humongous. He connected on three AX Smashes but each time Idol was able to barely kick out. Humperdink was up on the apron after the third one yelling at Ref Paul Morton to count quicker. Morton went to admonish him and Humongous left Idol on the mat to go get the ref away from Humperdink. Somehow, Idol made it to his feet and rushed into the back of Humperdink pushing him into the ropes. Idol ducked down and caught Humongous with a surprise roll up. Morton quickly began the count and yes that was all it took. A quick roll up and a 3 count puts Idol into the finals. Humperdink and Humongous are shocked as Idol rushes away before they can attack.

The crowd is both ecstatic and nervous for the Championship.

· Idol pins Lord Humongous at 13:26.

 

MATCH 5

ERNIE “THE BIG CAT” LADD VS THE DREAM MACHINE

This match is all about Ladd trying to take the mask off the Dream Machine and prove to everyone that the man who has been harassing his Army is none other than Troy Graham. It will also save Ladd $10,000 if he could do it himself as he has put a bounty on the mask. With Ladd already in the ring, The Dream Machine was making his way down the aisle to a huge ovation. Ladd angry, left the ring and meet him half way. The brawl was on. Both man rammed each other into barricades, used chairs and threw wild haymakers. The problem for Ladd was that after every big move, including his signature move, The Big Boot, he wasted so much energy with the mask. With both men beaten and bruised after about 5 minutes, CWA officials sent in security to break up the two. This was almost impossible to do but eventually order was restored. Ref Jerry Calhoun declared the match a No-Contest and Ladd was never able to take off the mask.

MATCH 6

NWA MID AMERICAN TAG TEAM TITLE

JULES STRONGBOW AND MARK YOUNGBLOOD VS THE KANSAS JAYHAWKS

INDIAN STRAP MATCH

The two teams have been at each other’s throats for a while now. Neither one accepts the others traditions or beliefs. Strongbow and Youngblood come out it full Native American gear including headdresses and war paint while Dutch Mantel and Bobby Jaggers come out with Black Cowboy boots, bull ropes and tobacco running down their cheeks. This match is an Indian Strap Match which means all 4 men are tied together by an 8 foot strap and you the only way you win is by dragging your opponents around the ring to all 4 corners. This match came about after both sides have whipped the other with their leather straps or bull whips.

As you could expect, this was not a wrestling match but a war. All 4 men were abused with low blows by the strap, clotheslines by the strap and chokeholds by the strap. It was really hard for either team to come close to a victory because you really needed to have both your opponents incapacitated at the same time. After a double team move that included spitting tobacco in the eyes of their opponents, “Dirty” Dutch threw Youngblood over the top rope and yanked back on the rope just as Youngblood went over. This action caused Youngblood to basically hang himself. Jaggers was able to execute the exact move on Strongbow. The Jayhawks began to pull the Indians to the first corner. Every time either Strongbow or Youngblood would get their feet on the apron, the Jayhawks would kick them off to continue the “hanging” action. Second turnbuckle….. No change. Third turnbuckle….. No change. The Kansas Jayhawks reach the fourth turnbuckle and smile at each other. WHACK! They slap the 4^th and final turnbuckle! NEW MID-AMERICAN TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS.

 

· The Kansas Jayhawks defeat Jules Strongbow and Mark Youngblood at 21:01 and we have new Champions!

 

 

MATCH 7:

SUPERSTAR” BILL DUNDEE VS “ROWDY” RODDY PIPER with JR Foley

Once again, Foley, Piper, The flag of the British Commonwealth, the bag pipes, the kilt and the brashness of the entire Commonwealth has the fans really giving it to Piper and Foley on their way to the ring. Add to that, the emotion of the return of Superstar Bill Dundee and this match has the fans on the edge of their seats. As for the match, it is high intensity with many momentum changes. Foley is all over ref Paul Morton but seemed to be staying out of the match for the most part. That is until both wrestlers were out on the floor. He was able to get the ref’s attention and this allowed Piper to grab a chair and go after Dundee. Dundee was able to block the chair with a side kick and the chair bounced back and hit Piper in the face busting him wide open. Dundee quickly grabbed Piper and set him up for a piledriver out on the floor. WHAM! He nailed it and headed back to the ring. Piper was out on the floor and Foley rushed to his aid but it was to no avail. Paul Morton reached the count of 10 and to the delight of the fans, Bill Dundee was successful in his return to the Mid-South Coliseum. The crowd begins to chant his name over and over again. The feud is one to watch in the future.

MATCH 8: AWA SOUTHERN TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH

ROCK n ROLL EXPRESS VS THE SHEEPHERDERS with JR FOLEY

 

The Rock N Roll Express, the AWA Southern Tag Team Champions enter the ring to KISS and “Rock N Roll All Night.” This is a return bout from last Monday night that saw the Rock n Roll Express survive. It also will not be the last time these teams meet as they are two of the most dominate tag teams in the world. The Sheepherders with their disgraceful manager, JR Foley make their way to the ring taunting each and every fan along the way.

As the match starts, it is the RnR Express who takes control but it is short lived. Both teams are so talented on defense and in the art of tag team wrestling that there are many quick tags and reversals in the early going. The Sheepherders take control after a double team on Gibson that included many kicks and punches. After one more tag, Gibson was on the canvass after a massive headbutt from Butch Miller. From here, Miller tossed Gibson out of the ring where Foley was lurking. Morton rushed over to try and prevent any dirty tactics but this just turned out to be all 4 brawling out on the floor, as ref Paul Morton started the 10 count, it looked like both teams were going to be counted out but at the last second, Gibson and Miller got back in the ring. On his way back to his corner, Morton nailed Foley to the delight of the crowd. Inside the ring, both Sheepherders just went wild on Gibson. When the ref finally restores order it looked like Gibson was in huge trouble. Somehow he made it to his corner and tagged in Ricky Morton. Morton just cleared house, taking on both Sheepherders at the same time but as he whipped Miller into the ropes, Miller hooked his arms around the ropes which caused Morton to miss his dropkick. The Sheepherders now continued their mauling of the RnR Express. Just after Miller used Williams head as a battering ram and as they were going for the pin, the bell rang signaling a time limit draw. The Sheepherders are angry as they knew they were about to become champs. They just continue to beat the Express until Morton and Gibson are a bloody mess. Finally satisfied with their beating, The Sheepherders toss the RnR out of the ring and raise then Foley grabs the arms of his tag team and raises them in a sign of dominance. What a difference a week makes. Last week, the Sheepherders were on the floor as The Express clamed ownership of the ring. This week it is the opposite.

· 30 Minute Time Limit draw between the Sheepherders and The Rock n Roll Express: Express retain their titles.

 

MATCH 9

CWA CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL:

Jerry “The King” Lawler vs “The Universal Heartthrob Austin Idol”

This is the one for all the marbles. The winner will be crowned the first ever Continental Wrestling Association Champion. A surprise to everyone, the first person to the ring is not Jerry Lawler or Austin Idol but the NWA Champion, Ric Flair. The fans boo him as he struts to the ring but it doesn’t seem to bother him at all. He grabs the in-house microphone and begins to address the crowd.

 

Ric Flair: I understand you don’t like me very much but understand it is just jealousy. I ride in limos. Fly in 747’s and party with the most beautiful women in the entire world and you go about your life here in the middle of Cow Country. Also, make no mistake about. I don’t want to be here. The NWA Board of Directors, hoping to convince this small backwards promotion to become a full member of the NWA has sent me here to introduce the participants in the finals of this tournament and present the champion with the belt when the match is done. I am also here to tell you that I will be back next week to defend my NWA Title against the winner of this pathetic little promotion.

So here it goes, this match is for the CWA Title and it will be Jerry Lawler vs Austin Idol.

As the match starts, both men shake hands and then spend the next 5 minutes or so in a really technical battle. Lawler gets the best of this and almost forced a submission on Idol with the Royal Abdominal Stretch. The match gets a little more physical now but they are both staying within the confines of the rules. Idol is able to control this as he used his power advantage to back Lawler towards the corner and catch him with an open hand chop across the side of Lawler’s head. From here a bodyslam leads to an attempted piledriver which Lawler blocked.

Idol continues to try to use his power moves but Lawler’s defensive skills allow him to block or reverse each and every one. Idol gets frustrated and doesn’t break cleaner in the corner. He knees Lawler in the mid-section and now the two friends are in the middle of an all-out brawl. This match has it all and the fans are truly behind the “King” but they don’t want to see him loose his closest alliance.

After a few wild haymakers, Idol is now in control. He is able to place the Las Vegas Leglock on Lawler. He uses the ropes to his advantage as he pulls up on them increasing the pressure on Lawler. Lawler refuses to submit but each time ref Jerry Calhoun asks Lawler if he wants to give, Idol grabs those ropes and really amps it up. Finally, Calhoun catches Idol and what he is doing. He demands Austin to break the hold but Idol refuses until the last possible second before he was to be disqualified. To Calhoun’s credit, he gets right in Idol’s face and begins to admonish him and pushes him back to the corner. Idol starts going right back at Calhoun and the two are really jarring back and forth.

 

WHAM!

Ric Flair has just blasted Jerry Lawler with that champagne bottle that Lawler and Idol had carried to ringside. Lawler is busted wide open but more importantly, he is out cold.

Idol stops arguing with Calhoun as Flair sits back down. Idol rushed over to Lawler and drags him away from the ropes. Idol covers Lawler and hook the leg. Calhoun, confused, doesn’t know what happened but knows he must begin the count.

Austin Idol has defeated Jerry Lawler and is the first ever CWA Champion. Ric Flair rushes into the ring and hands Idol the belt. The two embrace and start to taunt Lawler. This was all a setup and seems to have been planned for some time.

Lawler is just starting to come to and looks confused. Idol and Flair attack Lawler and start alternating elbow drops on the King. The fans have no lost control. They begin to throw things in the ring. They can’t believe the deceit of Idol and Flair. They are beside themselves. A few even try to storm the ring. Flair and Idol realize they could be in serious trouble and hightail it back to the dressing room. They are dodging bottles and all sorts of debris on their way to the locker room. Lawler is just sitting up in the ring and can’t believe Austin Idol has turned on him again.

Lance Russell: "Hello again, everybody! Lance Russell and Dave Brown here again for CWA Wrestling in Memphis, TN. Let’s get right to our first segment, “This Week in the CWA.” Dave take it away.

 

Dave Brown: Well thank you Lance and great to be with you and all the wrestling fans here in the CWA. What a week it was in the CWA. The Night of Dreams event at the Mid-South Coliseum was truly historical. The first ever CWA Heavyweight Champion was crowned and another title changed hands but more on that in just a minute. It seems that the ever growing CWA continues to draw some of the biggest names in the industry. This past week was no different. Jerry Jarrett has been in negotiations with a few of the big names in the industry. First, “The Clawmaster,” Baron Von Raschke. He is an 18 time champion including being a 5 time World Tag Team Champion. He is 6’3, 281 pounds from our Cold War enemy. East Germany. It is also rumored that Jarrett has been talking to The Spoiler, another master of the Iron Claw. He is a 44 time champion and also a master in the art of tag team wrestling. He has been a 4 time world Champion. I am sure the rest of the CWA is on alert because if they do sign, there might be some added chaos around here.

 

Okay, let’s get to a recap of the Night of Dreams.

 

MATCH OF THE WEEK: Austin Idol vs Jerry Lawler

 

 

 

 

 

That’s right folks, your two biggest fan favorites won their semi-final matches in the CWA Tournament and faced off against one another. First, Lawler defeated Hacksaw Reed in his semi-final as Ernie Ladd interfered in the match causing Lawler to gain the victory. Idol was able to get a surprise victory against Lord Humongous as he caught him with a roll-up.

“Dirty Dutch Mantell and Bobby Jaggers defeated Jules Strongbow and Mark Youngblood for the NWA Mid-American Tag Titles this past Monday in an Indian Strap Match. This match was so brutal that again, only pictures can do it justice. Let’s again go to the VTR

Dave Brown: After the match, EMS worked on both Strongbow and Youngblood. Both wrestlers left the ring on a stretcher and in a neck brace. They were rushed to a local hospital for medical care. We are still unsure of when they will return.

 

WRESTLER OF THE WEEK: Austin Idol

 

Austin Idol claims this award for becoming the first ever Continental Heavyweight Championship. We are still waiting to talk to him to see if he knew of the plain of Ric Flair and where this leaves his relationship with “the King” Jerry Lawler. For now, we congratulate him on his victory but there is some suspicion as to how he won it.

 

OTHER NOTES

Ernie Ladd and The Dream Machine had a no contest at their match at Night of Dreams as the two never made it to the ring as they brawled up and down the aisle. Ladd, still after that mask, asked Jerry Jarrett for a rematch but we have yet get a response from Mr. Jarrett.

 

We also have the return of Continental Wrestling Association Rankings and you will see them tonight as we go to our third TV break.

 

Lance Russell: “Wow Dave, what a week it was. I truly hope that Jerry Lawler and Austin Idol can mend their friendship but only time will tell. I mean it was the first time is quite a while that Lawler, Dundee and Idol were on the same page. Let’s get right to the ring for our first match.

 

MATCH #1: NWA Mid-AMERICAN CHAMP Hacksaw Reed vs Scott Bigelow

This is Scott Bigelow’s first ever bout and it really shows. Reed dominates him and the end comes just 3:11 in as Hacksaw Reed connects with a short-armed clothesline. Even though it was a quick match, you can see the potential in Bigelow. He has great size at 6’4 and over 300 pounds and is really agile. CWA fans need to keep an eye on this guy.

Lance Russell: Well Mr. Reed. I see that you are out here by yourself today. Is there a problem between you are Ernie Ladd and will he be in your corner for your upcoming bout against Mr. USA, Tony Atlas.

Hacksaw Reed: It is none of your business if Ernie Ladd and I are on the same page. As for Tony Atlas. You better watch you back boy! I somehow lost to that punk Jerry Lawler last Monday at the Mid-South Coliseum and I am not in the habit of losing. I am going to punish you Atlas! You will wish you never got in the ring me.

Sir Oliver Humperdinck: Well, I got two things on my mind Pencil Nose and just shut and up listen. Austin Idol cheated when he beat Lord Humongous. Each and every one of you know he grabbed the tights on that roll up. Don’t worry Idol, we won’t forget. The other thing we have not forgotten about is that low life fat pig, Plowboy Frazier. The House of Humperdink has not forgotten your yellow bellied actions when you left the stable. The only way out of the House is to be thrown out. Frazier, take a look at this match as see what you have coming. Remember, if anyone survives 5 minutes with any of my men, they get $5000.

 

Match #2: Buzz Sawyer vs whatever wrestler answers the challenge

Buzz Sawyer is walked to the ring by Humperdink who once again has him chained by a dog leash. He is hooting and howling like a caged animal. The fans are wondering if anyone will even dare to enter the ring against that mad dog. They kind of loose hope as it Gary Royal who answers the challenge. Sawyer releases every ounce of anger on Royal and it is frightening to watch. After a huge powerslam Sawyer climbs to the top rope and leaps off. Wham! A huge frog splash. The match is over in just 2:54. Sawyer continues to kick and beat on Royal for a few moments until Humperdink slowly enters the ring and commands Sawyer to sit like a dog. He hooks Sawyer back up to the dog collar and the two make their way to the locker room.

 

Lance Russell: Wow, this House of Humperdink is really on a roll. They are some dangerous men. Another week gone and Humperdink gets to keep his $5000. Let’s get right back to the ring and what a treat this is going to be. Superstar Bill Dundee back in action right here in Memphis.

 

Match #3: Shane Douglas vs Sivi Avi

The match is a much better showing for Shane Douglas. This is only the second match for the 20 year old kid and last week he was beaten from pillar to post by Hercules Hernandez. This week, he actually has moments when momentum was on his side and even had a near pin fall after a pretty big body slam. In the end, Avi caught Douglas with a huge drop kick and gained the victory.

 

Lance Russell: Well, Congratulations to you guys on winning the NWA Mid-American Title.

 

“Dirty Dutch mantel: We told you and all these stinking fans here in Memphis that it was only a matter of time to we took out them Indians. And boy, did we take them out.

 

Lance Russell: Well, I understand it was an Indian Strap Match but you really did cross the line when you hung them by their necks. Both were taking to the hospital and we don’t know when they can return to action.

 

The Hangman Bobby Jaggers: Oh boo who. Are we supposed to cry that they went to the hospital? We told you they were going to get hurt and now you are upset when it happens. Let that be a lesson to you and the rest of the CWA. When we say something, we mean it. Rock n Roll Express and all the rest of the tag teams here better watch their backs.

Lance Russell: Well Mr. Ladd. It has been a very interesting week for you. First you cause your man Butch Reed to lose his first match in the CWA and a chance at the CWA Title and then you go out and attack The Dream Machine before he ever made it to the ring.

 

Ernie Ladd: How dare you blame me Mr. Russell. Hacksaw Reed lost the match against Jerry Lawler all by himself. It happens. He is not perfect. It doesn’t mean that he won’t be CWA Champion but don’t you blame me that he did lose to Queen Lawler. As for the slime that you call Dream Machine. We all know that is Troy Graham. He looks the same, walks the same, talks the same, has that same scruffy beard under that mask, and he uses that loaded elbow smash the same as Troy Graham. When I take that mask off him, all you big dummies will have to admit I am right again. I want Jerry Jarrett to make a match that will guarantee that when I win, that mask comes off. Until then, that “Nightmare Machine” better sleep with one eye open. I am coming for him!

 

 

Lance Russell: Well we will just have to wait and see what Jerry Jarrett comes up with. I am sure we have not heard the end of this. Let’s get to the ring for our next match

 

Match #4: Ft. Bragg Brotherhood vs The Nightmares

Pvt Kernodle and Cpl Kirchner have quickly become fan favorites as they do their best to fight those against the United States. They recently lost to the Shogunate but that has not diminished their spirit. They come out waving a huge American Flag and getting the fans into the match. It is fast paced with many great double team moves including a Double Leg Drop off the top rope by Nightmare #2 on Cpl. Kirchner but Kernodle made the save. The end came when Pvt. Kernodle connected on a Swinging Neck breaker on Nightmare #1 at 7:02.

 

 

Lance Russell: Well first of all, congratulations on your win. Pvt. Kernodle, the last time we saw you on TV, The Shogunate was really doing a number on you and this man to your right came out of the stands and saved you. Who is he?

 

PVT. Kernodle: First of all Lance, I want to thank all of these wonderful fans for their support. We couldn’t do it without you. Now to the question everyone wants to know, this man next to me means more to me than anyone. He is Cpl. Michael Kirchner. He was my training Commander at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina when I first entered the military. He is the person who I owe my life to. So do many of you fans sitting here in the studio today. He has sacrificed for this wonderful country beyond what you could imagine. Now he is here to once again save my butt.

 

Cpl. Michael Kirchner: Thanks for those kind words Pvt. Kernodle. You know, once a Ft. Bragg Brother, Always a Ft. Bragg Brother. I heard that you were having trouble from these goons, Mr. Saito and Killer Khan so I came to help out. That is what we do for each other and what we do for America. Lance Russell: Thanks for giving us a few moments of your time guys. First of all, Jerry Lawler you must be sick at what happened in the CWA Tournament Final. I mean the class of the NWA Heavyweight Champion to hit you over the head with that Champagne bottle and then for your friend, Austin Idol to cover you for the 1...2..3. And did you see them mock you after the victory! I mean it makes me sick thinking about it.

 

Jerry Lawler: Well Lance it doesn’t sit well in the pit of my stomach. I have always known that Flair was a low down dirty dog but what Idol did, man, I just don’t know. Flair is just a coward. We all know he doesn’t care about Idol but he has to come back to the Mid-South Coliseum this Monday to face the winner of that match. I know he wants no part of me and he thinks he can beat Austin. I hope Austin didn’t sell out our friendship for Flair because that guy will stick a knife in your back quicker than a dog will pee on tree. I have not spoken to Austin yet, maybe his emotions just got the better of him. I really want to speak to him but he is not in studio tonight.

 

Lance Russell: Well, I have to admit that you are more trust worthy than I would be but that is maybe because I have already seen this video that we are about to show.

 

 

Jerry Lawler: Again Lance, I just want to talk to Austin. It was an emotional night for all of us and we will just have to wait and see.
