Loss
These teams are not really known for solid basic tags, but this fit the bill nicely. I thought this was really good, with Christian as a particularly good FIP and Edge as a strong hot tag. It only went about six minutes, but it had a fully fleshed out beginning with brawling, middle with the FIP, and end with the hot tag and finishing stretch. The post-match angle was the cherry on top, with the Dudleys putting both guys through tables, and Edge bleeding from the mouth to really put it over. (That may have been legit, I am not sure.) Good stuff all around. The WWF did a great job getting all three teams over in very distinct ways. ***1/
soup23
E&C seem to be getting a better reaction coming out. Clips are shows of the Dudley Boyz putting Terri through a table on Raw. E&C are the faces for sure here with flashy offense and double team moves in the early going. Christian gets worked over a bit around his nuts with decent action but it does lead to him getting a payback spot with a low blow of his own. Tag is made and E&C run through some exciting offense including the big dive to the outside by Christian and the spear by Edge for the pin. Dudley’s get their revenge after the match with a 3D and a powerbomb of Christian from the apron through a table with Edge laid on it. Edge is bleeding from the mouth to add effect. The tag division in the WWF is really cranking out quality stuff around this time. ***
Robert S
From today's perspective it is to strange seeing E&C as faces and (to a lesser degree) the Dudleys as heels.
Laney
This was nice compact tag team match. The WWF tag team scene started to get really hot at this time period and these are two of the teams that were on top. This was a well structured match with Christian doing a good job of taking a beating and then making the hot tag to Edge for the win. I recall Edge discussing the table spot from this match in an interview. The bleeding from the mouth is legit. Edge lost or chipped a tooth from that spot and was concerned about his perfect teeth. GSR
Edge and Christian are here to defend the honour of Terri Runnels, on behalf of their friends the Hardy Boyz, after the Dudleys put her through a table on Monday night. Dudleys sprint to the ring where they are met by Edge and Christian. Bubba throws Edge over the top rope to the floor and they start double teaming Christian. Edge hooks Bubba’s ankle as the Dudleys run the ropes, Christian then ducks D-Von’s clothesline and hits a belly to back suplex on him. Missile dropkick by Edge to the back of Bubba and Christian with a swinging neckbreaker. Double flapjack on D-Von for two. Bubba strikes Christian with a cheap shot from the apron and D-Von with a reverse DDT as it looks like the Dudleys have turned the match around. ‘Wassup’ spot behind the official’s back when he is trying to stop Edge from coming in to help his partner. Bubba pounds on Christian in the corner, headbutt to the groin and a high backdrop. Samoan drop from Bubba, who then climbs the turnbuckle but is too slow (getting distracted by Edge), and Christian with a low blow followed by a top rope frankensteiner. A pair of tags and Edge takes it to the Dudleys. Nice spinning heel kick to Bubba and a DDT on D-Von for two. Double backdrop on Bubba who rolls to the floor, no chance of a rest though as Christian with a springboard plancha off the middle out to him. In the ring Edge ducks a D-Von clothesline and catches him with the ‘spear’ for the win. Post-match Bubba whips Christian into the ring steps, and they hit 3-D on first Edge and then Christian. The Dudleys set up a table on the arena floor, lie Edge on it and powerbomb Christian from the apron onto Edge and through it. Solid little tag match. Simple dynamic with Christian taking the beating and Edge coming in for the hot tag (which plays to his strengths as he is the more ‘flashier’ of the two) and getting the pin. Nothing offensive, but nothing worth going out of your way to see and there is definitely better to come from these teams.
Tim Evans
That promo by Edge and Christian to start was rough. I guess they didn't get good on the mic until they started teaming with Angle? The match was good. It's weird seeing the Dudley's do the "wassup" headbutt while being these women beating heels. That finish through the table had to suck for Edge and christian. Stiva
Really fun little tag match. These teams would meet throughout the year in all kinds of different gimmicks and permutations so it was nice to be reminded that they could put together a good tv tag match with good heel work, a good FIP and a good finishing sequence. It's interesting to see that they were establishing the tables so early on, along with the back-and-forth matches that would involve the Hardys later. It may be giving it too much credit in hindsight but it's a subtle indicator of where these matches were eventually going to lead.
