soup23
The team of both Aguyao’s, Kanemoto, Otani, and Casas may literally be my favorite five person unit in wrestling history. We get about half of this and it is a ton of fun and something well worth seeking out. Each fall built to a big spot that was the finish which I appreciated. This really felt like the type of matches you see at FantasticaMania nowadays. Would love to see this in full. ***1/
Loss
We get about 8 minutes of an 18-minute 2/3 falls match and it's glorious. Everyone seems to have a little more pep in their step than usual, even those whose step already contains a lot of pep, like Wagner, who does his criss-cross/low dropkick while partner applies the camel clutch spot much faster than normal, and the same applies to Otani with his bootscrape. I agree that each fall built really well, and I could pretty much watch this all day. We really need a New Japan Classics series that covers 1997-2000. ***1/
Moonsault Marvin
This was an all-star affair that was unfortunately clipped. Fun matchups happened like Black Liger finally meeting his match in Perro Aguayo. Hamada doing his backdrop spot only to be met by the Otani dropkick off the ropes has to be seen. Good match. ohtani's jacket
This was a real treat. How great was it seeing Perro Aguayo and Hamada reignite their age-old rivalry? Perro looked better here than in his CMLL matches. He seemed to relish working the stiffer Japanese style. Lots of fun exchanges in this. I got a kick out of watching Casas/Hamada and Ohtani/Wagner, and I thought Perro Jr. looked like an absolute dynamo anytime he stepped through the ropes. 2000 Wagner would have made a great full-time addition to CMLL but he was too busy making Japanese coin. Gotta love Perro's passion at the end. He looked every bit the senior citizen but had lost none of his fire. Great watch.
Sean Liska
Oh my lord, what a collection of talent. This has to be one of the greatest collections of talent in a wrestling match ever. So many cool pairings like Casas/Hamada, Casas/Liger, Aguayo/Hamada like its 1982 NJPW, etc. This was fantastic and made me sad again about what a remarkable talent we lost in Aguayo Jr.
Tim Evans
This was a really fun match. Good to see Rudo Perro sr. one more time teaming with his sun and Kanemoto. Interesting to see Jr. in this match considering he was in AAA teaming with CMLL guys. Perro going after Hamada ruled, Wagner ruled doing his taunts and Otani directing traffice was nice too. klhare
Man is it a shame that we don't have this full match. This was a complete blast. I'm blown away by how well the Ohtani team meshed together. They felt like a conhesive unit that had matches like this routinely. Young Perro looks great, I'm very excited to see more of him going forward. Loved Wagner doing a flip before kicking someone off the ropes, loved Hamada showing a ton of fire and getting the second fall, even loved Kendo Kashin throwing around people by their hair. I'm not expecting to see any more matches featuring the team of Ohtani/Casas/Perro/Perro Jr and Kanemoto, but really hoping that there is somehow more.
