soup23
We get a vignette to start to cement Villano’s tecnico turn. He comes out in big poncho and cowboy hat and the fight is on. We get some neat pairings and brawling throughout all of this. I even enjoy Pierroth in this setting as he is the garbage brawl guy of CMLL. Shocker continues to grow IMO and you are seeing with each match how he could become the guy for the promotion. His sequences vs. Atlantis were easily the best technical wise in this match. First two falls are DQ’s on opposite side and the expression Shocker gives to the crowd after he sees a bloody Pierroth is awesome. How can you cheer someone that does this to my friend? The third fall is more of the same with everyone ramped up and Villano maybe being a tecnico but still not being adverse to taking a shortcut by getting a pin with his feet on the ropes. CMLL is definitely back. ****
Loss
This is absolutely the best trios match I've seen so far. The Atlantis-Shocker, Villano-Pierroth and Perro-Ano feuds all have my immediate attention, with Villano-Pierroth getting top billing in how the match is laid out. Villano has been a really intriguing wrestler since losing his mask in how they've kept him red hot because of the sympathy on him and because of the change in his character. Pierroth turned on him, so this has strong heat, and their battle turns bloody quickly. Meanwhile, Atlantis and Shocker have great chemistry, providing more wrestling than anyone else in the match while also getting across the idea that there's nothing polite about their exchanges. I loved how this kept building to a fever pitch. To me, the finish to the second caida could have worked as a finish for the match, but they weren't done with their crescendo, and the third fall was just awesome in giving back and forth teases and continuing to build heat. Amazing how much stuff they packed into so little time, and the best promotion in the world featuring the best talent in the world continues to produce the best matches in the world. ****1/
ohtani's jacket
This was a great trios match. Emotional vignette to begin with followed by a heated brawl that never let up. Villano vs. Pierroth was amazing. I hope we get more of them in the future as they were awesome together. Villano was like a man possessed and looked better than he has all year. The DDT on the outside was cool and I loved him giving Pierroth a taste of his own garbage. These are the type of matches that rudos usually dominate but Villano and Perro are harder edge tecnicos and former rudos. They're not about to put up with shit from anyone even if it means getting disqualified. In fact, the takeaway from the bout was that Villano hadn't lost any of his rudo instincts. If anything he was sharper than ever. The commentator called Villano vs. Pierroth rudo vs. rudo so it's unclear whether Villano is a full blown face yet but I want more of this feud. Also impressive were Atlantis and Shocker. Shocker looked like a million bucks here and Atlantis was on point. Whenever some doubts Atlantis, I always think back to matches like this where he flips the switch. He was hitting his shit like a knife through butter. But the real story was VIllano's breakout performance as a maskless wrestler. Working maskless isn't an easy thing for luchadores to do and not everyone succeeds at it, but you can tell how much of a legend Villano was when you see him own a match like this. And it was cool seeing Perro in his corner. God, the wars those two had been in together. With Satanico off TV, Villano is now lording it over CMLL. More Pierroth vs. Villano, please! Tim Evans
Outstanding match. First, we start with an emotional Ray Mendoza/Villano 3 segment. After that is the match. Pierroth attacking Villano with a bat to the face and stomach to major heat was awesome. Even Atlantis is fired up going after shocker. Perro/mascara is a way better feud than Perro/Bestia. Second caida, the rudos get destroyed and the third fall is more of the same. Really liked Villano winning by being a rudo and having his feet on the ropes. Great stuff here intertwining 3 different feuds.
Mattsdmf
The opening segment was really great and shows Villano IIIs tecnico turn. I love how the brawling starts just as Villano is making his way to the ring with Pierroth making a sneak attack with a bat. The pacing of this never let up which was great. I loved how Villano III may be a tecnico now, but he hasnt forgotten his rudo past to get one up on the dastardly bad guys. Atlantis and Shocker had good chemistry in this. Overall I loved this match and lucha trios never cease to entertain me.
Moonsault Marvin
Villano takes a beating, getting assaulted with a baseball bat by Pierroth. We got brawling all over the place. I liked the good guys fighting fire with fire in the second fall with Perro repeatedly kicking Pierroth until they got disqualified. Villano shows he still has some rudo in him with the feet on the ropes at the end. Everybody looked good in this one. Very good match.
