Jetlag
Just a basic studio squash, allowing Hogan to look strong. Curtis looks like he is half the size of Hogan so maybe not the best choice to put him over, but he does get to look like a competitor. Nice pop for Hogan powering out of the Full Nelson. peachchaos
Nothing special here, but I thought it was neat happenstance to have the decade start out with it's future biggest star.
Kronos
Best things about this 2 min slow motion squash: 1. The announcer praising Hogan's posture. "He's not swaybacked." 2. Hogan's using a bodybuilding posing routine to break out of the Nelson hold.
soup23
It feels poetic that our 80's footage starts with Hogan and 00's with Danielson. I don't know what that says about the 90's and We are Dynamite. This was a squash but Hulk looked huge and gave a nice suplex. I liked Curtis sell of the Full Nelson break and his astonishment at the power of Hulk. The crowd was quiet during the squash but cheers a lot when Hulk acknowledges them at the end of the clip. 1/2*
Ricky Jackson
Are we sure this is from Jan 1, 1980? Hogan was working for WWF at that time and actually wrestled a TV taping in Allentown on that date. I think this may actually be from late 1981
paul sosnowski
Yea, this is definitely the wrong date. Hogan never worked for the AWA until August 1981. Cagematch has a listing for a Chris Curtis match on AWA All Star Wrestling on September 20, 1981
AstroBoy
The breaking of the full nelson with the flex was a brilliant piece of taunting. Really basic stuff and Hogan looks utterly ridiculous in the ring against this guy. By the numbers squash.
peachchaos
Are we sure this is from Jan 1, 1980? I'm not sure of anything anymore, other than I should probably not go by the date on some random YouTube page.
drew wardlaw
I went ahead and watched this out of order just because its in the thread here. Its easy to forget just how big Hogan is when hes against Andre or King Kong Bundy or whoever, but man is he massive.
