spaldoni
Chaos in the House of Humperdink! Wow! The Stud Stable in Florida! I'm sure they're going to cause some problems. Damn! Gino piledrives Savage on the concrete! As if this feud didn't already have massive heat. I cant wait until New Year's Eve! Well it didn't take the Stud Stable long to get gold as Fuller takes the strap from Atlas. An Iron Bridge of Hell scaffold match! The title alone would make me want to buy a ticket. Bulldogs have arrived! I think they'll have gold very soon.
kevinmcfl
the House of Humperdink is wild right now. Oh how the mighty have fallen... JYD gets a 20 minute draw with Duke Myers I wonder what an Iron Bridge of Hell Scaffold Match would look like with big Bob Sweetan on a scaffold. Sullivan and Sweetan must be white hot with each other to agree to such a dangerous one.

kevinmcfl
Liked the idea of the Bulldogs and the Studd Stable going at it. I wonder if there will be problems between Eddie Gilbert and Kevin Sullivan for walking out on him. Mike Graham vs Terry Taylor would be an awesome match. Both had some great mat skills
spaldoni
Bulldogs and Studd Stable is a dream match for me. So glad you booked it! Cool seeing Buddy Rose and Terry Taylor pop into the loop. Tonga, Lefebvre and Charland is a very dangerous trio. Randy Savage had a good loop. SirEdger
Update: I will skip right away to the New Year's Eve Bash card for December 31st. Before each match, I will do a little write-up of how we got there, so I can start fresh with the new roster following the draft. I will also rebrand the promotion Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling and I'll wait for the redesign of the map to see which states I will add to my current coverage. SirEdger
ACCW/MACW BACKSTORY UPDATE: In mid-November, it was announced that Eddie Graham would sell his territory to Jim Crockett Promotions Inc, spearheaded by Jim Crockett Jr, due to financial difficulties. At the press conference about the sale of the territory, Crockett announced that Atlantic Coast Championship Wrestling would be rebranded as Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling and break off from the AWA. Despite that, Crockett says that the final event under the ACCW banner, New Year’s Eve Bash, would still take place in Greensboro, NC on December 31st. However, all the titles would then be vacated and replaced with Mid-Atlantic branded championships. Crockett confirms that no major changes with staff will take place but several new talents would make their way in the territory through 1985. Crockett announces that the MACW office will relocate in Atlanta, GA and they’ll run weekly TV at the WTBS studios. Crockett confirms that Georgia & Alabama will be part of the MACW territory and he’s negotiating with other promoters to share events in Louisiana and Mississippi. And now, for the final time under the ACCW colors: NEW YEAR’S EVE BASH December 31st, 1984 Greensboro Coliseum, Greensboro, NC Match #1 Reverend Jimmy Valiant vs Boomer Lynch Backstory: There was a time where the Church of Boogie Woogie was riding high in ACCW. But once Reverend Cash was viciously attacked and driven out of the territory, Valiant fell on hard times. Boomer Lynch didn’t hesitate to make fun of Valiant and even went as far as to interrupt one of Valiant’s speeches at one of his “masses” and knocked him out with his own chalice. It was decided that both men would collide at New Year’s Eve Bash event. The match: This match is mostly a comedy affair to open the show as Valiant relies on dancing and hyping the crowd to get under Boomer Lynch’s skin, which definitely worked because Lynch got in all kinds of troubles early. After some shenanigans that allowed him to regain control, Lynch eventually made too many mistakes that would allow the Reverend to hit his Flying Elbow and secure the win in the opening match. Winner: Reverend Jimmy Valiant Match #2 6-Men Tag House of Humperdink (Kevin Sullivan, Purple Haze & The Great Kabuki) vs The Rock N’ Roll RPMs & Don Kernodle Backstory: Another stable that has been struggling recently had been the House of Humperdink. With the recent departures of Konga the Barbarian & Abdullah the Butcher, many assumed that Sir Oliver Humperdink’s plans had been definitively thwarted but Humperdink continue to claim that the House is alive and well and is planning to add new members to his stable, more twisted and cruel than ever. In the meantime, they still found some way to success as the Great Kabuki took the Atlantic Coast TV title away from Mike Davis, not without help from Purple Haze. Despite being outnumbered, the RPMs challenged the House to a 6-men tag at New Year’s Eve Bash. Don Kernodle is the one to step up, volunteering to team with the RPMs. The match: As hot as both Davis & Lane have been in singles competition lately during Davis’ reign as TV champion, they’re clearly lacking some time together and it definitely made a difference as the House of Humperdink have been solidly working together recently and it paid off in the match. No Green Mist needed this time as it is Kevin Sullivan putting Don Kernodle away with a Double Stomp from the 2nd rope to secure the win. Winners: The House of Humperdink Match #3 Loser Must Retire Bill White vs Johnny Weaver (w/Jose Luis Rivera) Backstory: No one could’ve predicted that Bill White & Johnny Weaver would be this dominant as a tag team in ACCW but their reign came to a crashing halt when the Brisco Brothers beat them for their titles. However, when White & Weaver fail to regain the titles from the Briscos, Johnny Weaver lost it and turned on Bill White. Weaver explained his actions by saying that White & Weaver no longer see things the same way and it was time to cut him loose. In surprising fashion, Jose Luis Rivera stepped up for Bill White and confronted Weaver over his betrayal of White. Weaver taunted Rivera, saying that he would never amount to anything in the sport. Weaver challenged Rivera to a match which if Rivera lost, Weaver would win his services for 30 days; which Weaver did, but not without questionable tactics. Meanwhile, Bill White had vowed to get revenge on Weaver and if he couldn’t so, he would retire from the sport completely. This was all Weaver needed to hear to make a proposal to White; White would only get one shot at beating Weaver and if he doesn’t beat him, he’s history. In the meantime, Weaver consistently used a reluctant Rivera to help him win matches and one would wonder if Rivera would actually be a factor in the outcome of this match. The match: There was an intense staredown between both men in what could be described as an emotionally charged moment and once the bell rang, it was on. It was a slow-paced affair with Johnny Weaver being as methodical as expected under the circumstances. Like in previous occasions recently, Weaver often relied on Rivera to give him a hand in retaining the advantage over Bill White, which Rivera reluctantly obliged, due to the stipulations that he must comply with. The climax of the match came when Weaver demanded Rivera to slide him a chair in the ring. Rivera grabbed a chair and climbed on the apron. Weaver wanted the chair but Rivera refused to give it to him, much to the crowd’s delight. Weaver answered with a stiff right hand that sent Rivera on the floor, only for Weaver to turn around and get locked into a bearhug from White! Weaver was on the verge of passing out when he raked the eyes of White to get free of the hold. Weaver then locked in the Weaver Lock on White and unfortunately for him, White had to submit. Postmatch, the crowd gave a nice ovation to Bill White but no bragging or disrespect from Johnny Weaver. Weaver shook his hand and nodded in respect to White and walked away, letting White having one final moment in the ring. Winner: Johnny Weaver Match #4 Taped Fist Match Mike Graham vs “Mr. Magnificent” Kevin Kelly The backstory: No one took a more sadistic turn at the end of 1984 than “Mr. Magnificent” Kevin Kelly. After a gratuitous attack that broke Mike Graham’s jaw in a mach, Kelly spent most of his time trying to add insult to injury. The situation hit a fever pitch one night in Norfolk, Virginia when Kelly interrupted a match between Mike Graham and Bulldog Bob Brown and viciously attacked him, handcuffing him to the ropes and pounding him repeatedly with brass knuckles. Eddie Graham was on the verge of firing Kevin Kelly from the territory but at the behest of his son Mike, he reluctantly changed his mind. Instead, Mike would demand to wrestle Kelly in a Taped Fist Match at New Year’s Eve Bash in hopes to finally settle this, once and for all. The match: Unquestionably, a violent and brutal match with Graham panting all the rage he had kept in himself since Kelly’s first attack and channelling it in this one. However, his broken jaw remained an Achilles heel and Kelly took full advantage of it for a big part of the match. Luckily for Graham, Kelly’s cockiness came back to haunt him as he lifted Graham up after what was sure to be a victory after clocking him with a solid right hand. However, it was Graham’s right hand that did the job on Kelly after multiple shots to his jaw and Graham pinned him for the win. But Graham didn’t have time to celebrate as Kelly attacked Graham one more time from behind. Kelly reached under the ring to grab a bullrope and got back in the ring. Kelly tried to tie it around the neck of Graham but luckily for Mike, his father Eddie charged the ring. Eddie wanted to fight Kelly but Kelly laughed it off and decided to retreat anyway, with the damage he intended to do being done. Winner: Mike Graham Match #5 For the The Bulldogs’ Contender’s Crown The Brisco Brothers vs The British Bulldogs The backstory: It didn’t take long for things to be hectic between the Briscoes and the Bulldogs as soon as Dynamite Kid & Davey Boy Smith arrived in the territory. Wrestling each other in several time limit draws, they’d never seen to find out who was the better team of the bunch. But they had seen enough of their underhanded tactics as Jerry Brisco captured the Florida Heavyweight Championship that they vowed to ensure this wouldn’t happen again. Therefore, if Stampede Rush entered New Year’s Eve Bash as the tag team champions, they had to thank the Bulldogs for that as Davey Boy prevented Jerry Brisco to use his title belt on Kerry Brown, allowing Brown to roll up Jerry to win the titles. Subsequently, for the first time ever, the Contender’s Crown was contested in a tag team battle royal that the Bulldogs won last eliminating....The Briscos. It appeared that we’d be seeing the Bulldogs cashing in their title shot against Stampede Rush but the Briscos also wanted in. Therefore, Eddie Graham announced that the Brisco Brothers would wrestle the British Bulldogs for the Contender’s Crown. Shortly before the show, Jim Crockett Jr confirmed that despite the ACCW Tag Team titles no longer being recognized after the show, the winning team would win the right to vie to become the first Mid-Atlantic Tag Team Championship on January 4th in Norcross, GA. The match: If fans bought tickets to New Year’s Eve Bash specifically for this match, they got their money’s worth. A spectacular demonstration of chemistry and unity from both tag teams. What the Briscos have in experience teaming together for more than a decade, the Bulldogs made up in speed & power. A missed diving headbutt from Dynamite Kid gave the Briscos the momentum and they worked on Dynamite’s neck for a good portion of the match but once Davey Boy got the hot tag, the Bulldogs took over. In a desperate move, Jerry Brisco goes outside to reach for his Florida Heavyweight title belt to hit Davey Boy but Dynamite Kid climbs on the top rope and jumps outside in a cross body on Jerry! A distracted Jack then fell prey to Davey Boy’s powerslam and the Bulldogs secured the victory and a title shot in Norcross, GA on January 4! Winners and still Contender’s Crownholders: The British Bulldogs Match #6 ACCW Heavyweight Championship Robert Fuller vs Buzz Tyler (c) The backstory: It is often said that things are like the Wild West in Atlantic Coast and this match is no exception. Upon winning the ACCW title very shortly after the Stud Stable’s arrival, Robert Fuller felt confident enough that he would retain the title in convincing fashion so when he threw an open challenge and it was answered by “Avalanche” Buzz Tyler, Fuller thought he was in for an easy night but that night turned into a nightmare when Tyler rolled up Fuller to surprise him with the victory. Afterwards, the Stud Stable went on an impossible quest to get the title of Tyler, resorting to calling people from other AWA territories like “Mean” Mike Miller to get the title of him, but in vain. Eventually, the Stud Stable realized that there was no better way to get the job done than doing it themselves. Fuller would then get a rematch with Buzz Tyler for New Year’s Eve Bash. The match: With Jimmy Golden at ringside, Robert Fuller is convinced that tonight is the night to get his title back. And with the constant interference from Jimmy Golden, it seems that it’s gonna happen and Fuller will regain his title. But eventually, Bill Alfonso catches Golden getting involved in the match and throws him out of the building! Golden protests and so does Fuller but doing so with his back turned and this close to the turnbuckles isn’t the smartest idea. That’s the opening that Tyler was looking for and Tyler hits the Avalanche squashing Fuller in the corner. Fuller goes down and Tyler only has to cover Fuller while a helpless Golden watches the whole thing unfold. Tyler celebrates as Golden helps Fuller to the back. Who would’ve thought that Buzz Tyler would’ve been the final Atlantic Coast Heavyweight Champion??? Winner: Buzz Tyler (retains his title) Match #7 The Masked Superstar vs Bob Orton The backstory: 2 of the newest arrivals in the territory but 2 of the big names nevertheless. Both the Masked Superstar and Bob Orton could arguably claim to be next in line to wrestle for the Atlantic Coast Heavyweight Championship. This match definitely was more about who’s next in the pecking order rather than personal issues. As the days of Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling are upon us, both men cannot afford to come off the losing end of this match The match: Nothing heated. Nothing controversial. Just straight up, good ol’ fashioned wrasslin’ by both men. Masked Superstar is obviously in advantage from experience but Orton is able to hold his own in there. Superstar is able to hit a swinging neckbreaker on Orton but Orton is able to reach the ropes for the count of 2, breaking the count. Superstar goes again for another swinging neckbreaker but Orton turns it into a backslide and gets the pinfall victory. After the match, both men shook hands and looks like Orton has momentum heading into Mid-Atlantic. Winner: Bob Orton Match #8 Atlantic Coast Tag Team Championship Stampede Rush (c) (w/Junkyard Dog) vs Mad Dog Lefebvre & Richard “Le Magnifique” Charland (w/King Tonga) – King Tonga & JYD to be chained together at ringside The backstory: As mentioned earlier, Stampede Rush could thank the British Bulldogs for their current title reign but that didn’t mean things would get any easier. In fact, the new trio of Lefebvre, Charland and their recently hired assassin King Tonga, had been wreaking havoc ever since they joined forces and after subsequently defeating the Gunslingers and the Rock N’ Roll RPMs in convincing fashion, Lefebvre & Charland made it clear to Stampede Rush that they were gunning for their titles. However, with King Tonga in tow, it would end up being difficult and enter JYD himself. In a tag match pitting Lefebvre & Charland vs Billy Travis & Brett Wayne Sawyer, Tonga viciously attacked Travis once again until JYD made the save, preventing Tonga from doing further damage. In an interview on ACCW TV, JYD said that if Stampede Rush were to defend the titles against Lefebvre & Charland, it needed to happen in a fair context. JYD then suggested to Eddie Graham to chain himself to King Tonga so he wouldn’t have to interfere, which was accepted by Graham The match: King Tonga wasn’t in any hurry to follow the instructions laid out prior to the match and being chained to the neck to Junkyard Dog but after some coercion from JYD, Tonga finally obliged. In the mean time, with Tonga temporarily neutralized at ringside, this allows Stampede Rush to get a fighting chance to successfully defend their titles. However, Charland & Lefebvre proved to be more than a formidable duo as they gave Myers & Brown their money’s worth. With Charland being in dire straits, Tonga seized the opportunity to thrust JYD in the throat, choking him momentarily. Tonga was then able to get rid of the chain and jump in the ring to attack Duke Myers, causing the DQ. Charland & Lefebvre watched on, beating up Kerry Brown while Tonga applied his sadistic nervehold on Myers while officials rushed the ring to stop Tonga. Eventually, Lefebvre & Charland got Tonga off Myers and the trio left the ring. Not the way the tag team champs wanted to end their reign as ACCW Tag Team Champions but they might get their shot at Lefebvre & Charland again down the road.. Winners by DQ: Stampede Rush (retain their title, final champs) MAIN EVENT Match #9 No Disqualification “Gorgeous” Gino Hernandez vs Randy “Macho Man” Savage (w/Miss Elizabeth) The backstory: To say that tension was high between Gino Hernandez and Randy Savage was quite the understatement. For weeks, even months, Gino hinted at a romantic relationship with Miss Elizabeth behind Savage’s back and the more Gino insisted, the more enraged Savage became. And each time Gino would incur the wrath of Savage, he would only flee the first chance he’d get. Things hit a boiling point when during a match between Randy Savage and Jack Brisco, Gino came at ringside to flirt with Liz, who would rebuke his demands, despite Gino’s insistence. However, once Gino planted a kiss on Liz, all hell broke loose and Savage jumped on Gino like a madman. Savage sent Gino, head first on the ringpost, busting him wide open. Gino bragged afterwards that he’d wear that temporary scar as a badge of honor but nothing would honor him more to have Liz by his side. Savage quickly responded that the time for pleasantries was over and they needed to wrestle each other once and for all so this could end. Savage wanted Gino in a No DQ environment at New Year’s Eve Bash and it’s all that Gino could ask for...Especially if it meant that Elizabeth would be there to watch this... The match: As expected, Gino did everything to woo Liz and rile up Randy before the match even started but once the bell rang, all hell broke loose. And also as expected, blood was shed. Both Gino and Randy used everything they would find to their disposal, including their own wrestling gear (wristtape) to get the advantage. Towards the end of the match, using a moment where Savage was temporarily out of commission. Gino asked Liz to climb on the apron, trying to woo her again. However, Savage seeing this, ran in with the high knee but caught referee Bill Alfonso who was in between Savage and Gino. The domino effect sent the ref into Gino, who clocked Liz, who fell down on the floor. Liz grabbed her ankle and removed her shoe, to alleviate the pain. In the meantime, Savage bodyslammed Gino and hit the top rope elbow drop. Savage then gets up and seeing that the ref was still out, Savage asks Liz to hand him something. Liz is struggling to get on the apron and she does so, but with her back turned to the action. Savage seems to lose patience and approaches Liz but as Liz turns around...SHE STABS HIM IN THE EYE WITH THE HEEL OF HER SHOE!!! Savage goes down in a heap as the entire Greensboro Coliseum is in shock. Gino comes to with a big smile on his face, realizing what just happened as Elizabeth stares at the scene with a blank look on her face. Gino doesn’t have much more to do than making the cover and referee Bill Alfonso scores the pinfall for the win. Savage writhes in pain on the floor as Gino rolls out of the ring and escorts Liz out of the arena to a chorus of boos. All of this while Liz keeps a stoic look on her face as the final chapter of Atlantic Coast is closed. What’s in store for Mid-Atlantic??? Winner: “Gorgeous” Gino Hernandez
spaldoni
Man ACCW defiantly goes out with a bang! This event was a true supercard where every match meant something. Valiant's win is just what he needed to pull himself out of hard times. House of Humperdink gets their momentum back with a big win over Kernodle and the RPM's. Weaver sends White into retirement. Those two had one heck of a run as champs and Weaver shows his respect after the match. Graham gets his big win over Kelly but Kelly gets the post match beatdown. Even Eddie gets involved. Doesn't get a whole lot better than the Bulldogs and Briscos. What a dream match! Bulldogs pull it out and will probably be wearing gold soon. Buzz Tyler defeats all odds and retains against Fuller. Liked that Superstar/Orton match. Solid competitive match as Orton shines in the end. Stampede Rush gets the DQ win but suffer a beating from the dangerous trio of Charland, Lefebvre and Tonga. I've waited months for the big Savage/Gino match and brother it delivered! Great brawl! Savage and Gino pull out all stops and then the big SWERVE happens. Liz helps Gino! WOW! Gino gets the win and the crowd must have been in riot mode. What a way to end the show. I cant wait for MACW!

Bob Caudle: Hello, wrestling fans and welcome to this premiere episode of Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling, I’m Bob Caudle along with David Crockett and we’re starting a brand new chapter with Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling as David’s brother, Jim Crockett Jr, purchased Atlantic Coast Championship Wrestling from Eddie Graham in Florida and re-branded it as Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling. We’re extremely happy that you could join us for this new beginning and we’re also excited to announce that we’ll have a 2nd TV show weekly called Worldwide Wrestling. David Crockett: And both Bob and I will also be on-hand to host this show and we can’t wait to show you more action from MACW with Worldwide Wrestling. We’ll starting off with a bang, that’s for sure. Bob Caudle: Yes, indeed, and we’re also starting in controversial fashion as we were scheduled to have Mike Graham for an interview following his huge victory over “Mr. Magnificent” Kevin Kelly at New Year’s Eve Bash but we understand that he was jumped by Kelly in the parking lot of the studios right before we went on the air. We’ll try to update you on his condition before the end of the show but we will hopefully hear from Kelly himself as well. And we got quite the main event as “Gorgeous” Gino Hernandez, fresh from a shocking victory over Randy Savage on New Year’s Eve, will square off against “Cowboy” Bob Orton! In the meantime, let’s get ready for her first match of the show! Match #1 Boomer Lynch beat Robert Fuller with a diving crossbody Match #2 The Masked Superstar beat Scott Casey with a middle rope powerslam after countering an attempted aerial attack from Casey in the corner. Match #3 Mad Dog Lefebvre & Richard Charland (w/King Tonga) beat The House of Humperdink (Purple Haze & The Great Kabuki) when Lefebvre stole Humperdink’s cane to hit Haze with it to score the pinfall Match #4 Brett Wayne Sawyer beat Duke Myers with a hip toss. After the match, The Minnesota Wrecking Crew swarm the ring and stare at both Sawyer and Myers. After faking an attack on Myers, Ole & Arn Anderson jump on Brett Wayne Sawyer! Sawyer is manhandled by Arn, delivering a gourdbuster to Sawyer before holding him back up, allowing Ole to climb on the top rope and deliver a knee behind the neck of Sawyer! Once the damage is done, The Minnesota Wrecking Crew leave the ring, booed by the audience. Match #4 Kamala & Steve Doll vs The Brisco Brothers turn into a no-contest when Kamala turns against Steve Doll in the middle of the match and helps the Briscos destroying Doll. We then see Sir Oliver Humperdink making his way to the ring with Kevin Sullivan and inviting Kamala to follow them....Could Kamala become part of the House of Humperdink??? Bob Caudle: ...if the House of Humperdink recruits Kamala, that means bad news for everyone here in Mid-Atlantic. And what a sinister attack by The Minnesota Wrecking Crew earlier tonight, making their first appearance on MACW TV and it doesn’t seem like they’re gonna stop at anything to destroy their competition. And speaking of competition, here’s one of the newest tag teams here in MACW. Please welcome “Hangman” Bobby Jaggers and Dutch Mantell, the Kansas Jayhawks! (Bobby Jaggers and Dutch Mantell make their way to the broadcast booth to stand each side of Caudle.) Bob Caudle: Gentlemen, welcome to Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling. Bobby Jaggers: Thank you, Bob Caudle. Ya know, we were hanging out in a little town called Holcomb in Kansas minding our own business when we got a call from David’s big brother, asking us to come over to Atlanta and here we are. Dutch Mantell: By the way, Bob Caudle, have you ever read Truman Capote’s book titled In Cold Blood? Bob Caudle: Well, yes, but I’m a bit surprised to hear that you’re reading Truman Capote books. I figured you were entertaining yourselves differently.... Dutch Mantell: Are you insinuating that we’re idiots, Bob Caudle? Bob Caudle: No, not at all -- Dutch Mantell: When it’s about history from our neck of the woods, it’s always fascinating to read. Bobby, why don’t you tell that story about what it’s about? Bobby Jaggers: Basically, the story is about that time in 1959 when 4 members of a prominent family --- see, Caudle, we can use big words! --- were murdered by 2 escaped convicts under the assumption that the father was hiding a large sum of money in his safe but after tying up and shooting up everyone in the house, all they got was 42 bucks, a portable radio and a pair of binoculars. They got arrested in Vegas, convicted and they were hanged in 1965. Was it really worth it in your opinion, Bob Caudle? Bob Caudle: Quite frankly, I don’t think so. Bobby Jaggers: Exactly, well, I think we can make a good analogy about this story and Dutch and I. Bob Caudle: I fail to understand that analogy... Dutch Mantell: It’s simple, Bob Caudle. People think that because we’re from Kansas, we’re dumb hicks. No brain and all brawn. They believe that they can easily fool us and outsmart us but that couldn’t be further from the truth. We’re here to prove that we’re the best damn tag team in this territory and we’ll do everything we can to make sure of it. Bobby Jaggers: But you better not worry, Bob Caudle. We’re not gonna tie up and shoot people around here. We’re not gonna hang people and let them die. But the one thing that will die is their hopes of beating us and thinking they’re better than us. We saw what the Andersons did a few moments ago and they better not think they can do it to us, because they got another thing coming... (The Jayhawks leave the booth and David Crockett rejoins Bob Caudle at commentary) David Crockett: That was quite the interesting story, wasn’t it? Bob Caudle: I don’t know about interesting but it was crystal clear. The Kansas Jayhawks won’t be here to fool around. We’re now ready for our feature bout as “Gorgeous” Gino Hernandez takes on “Cowboy” Bob Orton! Match #5 “Gorgeous” Gino Hernandez (w/Miss Elizabeth) beat “Cowboy” Bob Orton with a top rope splash. Liz’s demeanor was different than usual, being less stoic and almost more flirty with Gino. Bob Caudle: ...certainly, a big victory for Gino Hernandez, keeping the momentum going from New Year’s Eve Bash and putting himself in good position to eventually become the Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Champion. But now, let’s welc----wait, a minute! (Caudle is interrupted by the Minnesota Wrecking Crew, Ole and Arn Anderson) Bob Caudle: How appropriate, as we’re about to welcome Jim Crockett to our set, I believe you owe us an explanation about your actions earlier tonight. Arn Anderson: Bob Caudle, we don’t owe you absolutely nothin’! We are the Andersons, Ole and Arn, the most feared tag team in the entire world. We’re silent but deadly. We came here because we were promised opportunities. And from our standpoint, this means that we’re gonna get the first crack at the Mid-Atlantic Tag Team Championship. So, Jim Crockett, why don’t you make this official, right now? (Almost on cue, Jim Crockett walks on-set, shaking hands with Bob Caudle and David Crockett.) Ole Anderson: Now, Jim Crockett, before you go forward, I want you to understand something. I want you to realize what you’ve gotten yourself into by bringing in the Minnesota Wrecking Crew. By doing so, you’re fully aware that we’re gonna maim, we’re gonna cripple and we’ll annihilate everyone you put in front of us. This isn’t something that you gotta take lightly. Because, eventually, you’re gonna run out of bodies to put in front of us. But that’s OK. We can go easy at first on some of those guys to make it worth our while. We understand that the British Bulldogs are locked into that spot by virtue of that contender crown or whatever you call this but it’s only right for you to put us in the opposite spot because we’re gonna give you your money’s worth. Jim Crockett: Now, Ole and Arn Anderson, I’m certainly grateful that you accepted the offer to come to Atlanta but make no mistake about it, you’ve just arrived here. Beating up people the way you did with Brett Wayne Sawyer earlier today won’t guarantee you anything. Tonight, in Norcross, GA, we will crown our first Mid-Atlantic Tag Team Champions. Because they’re the Contender’s Crownholders, The British Bulldogs will be involved in the match. As for their opponents, I spent the last few days consulting Eddie Gilbert in Tampa because he saw a lot of those talents here in Mid-Atlantic and I trust his instinct. And given their history from the very start, this is why I’ve decided to appoint the Stud Stable as the Bulldogs’ opponents tonight. And furthermore, this match will be a 2 out of 3 Falls, so we can get an undisputed winner. Arn Anderson: Are you serious, Jim Crockett? You’re gonna stand here in front of Ole and I and you’re gonna tell us that the Stud Stable are more deserving than us? This is a joke and you know it! Jim Crockett: Like I said, Arn, you haven’t earned anything. But I’ll give Ole or you a chance to do so. In fact, we’ll have our first major event on January 11th at the Omni and if you do well tonight, we can make things happen. Ole Anderson: You listen to me real good, Crockett, I’m gonna destroy whoever decides to one-up us. You understand me? Anyone! (At this moment, Rocky “The Best Kernodle” shows up on set to confront the Andersons) Arn Anderson: Oh, this is getting better. Seriously, Crockett? Rocky Kernodle is the best you can offer? Rocky Kernodle: No, no, no....not just “Rocky Kernodle”. Rocky “THE BEST Kernodle”, get things right, Arn. And as you can see, since I’m now the only Kernodle remaining in this territory, this just proves my point because my brother Don wouldn’t have cut it. But tonight, in Norcross, GA, Ole, I’m definitely gonna show you why I’m the Best Kernodle. Ole Anderson: I’d like to see you try, son. (POW! Kernodle slaps Ole in the face and everyone is taken aback, especially Ole) Rocky Kernodle: See ya tonight, Ol’ Anderson! (Arn is trying to contain Ole as they finally walk off the set.) Jim Crockett: One more thing before I go. Gentlemen, as you mentioned at the beginning of the show, we’re getting Worldwide Wrestling every Sunday night and I want this show to be special as well. This is why I’m proud to announce that we’re gonna crown our first Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Champion on Worldwide tomorrow. And it’s gonna be Khruscher Khruschev against none other than our newest acquisition....Roddy Piper! Anything goes and there must be a winner! (As Bob Caudle and David Crockett are trying to re-take control and digest everything that happened, here comes “Mr. Magnificent” Kevin Kelly.) Bob Caudle: Well, we’ve waited the entire show to hear from you about that sneak attack on Mike Graham and I hope you can provide an explanation, sir. Kevin Kelly: It’s simple as this; Mike Graham, you might’ve won a battle but you’re far from having won the war. I don’t care what you say or what you do going forward but this was a reminder that you’ll always have to watch your back. But, if this is something that would make you feel better, Bob Caudle, I can tell you that it wasn’t my decision to do that. Bob Caudle: What do you mean, not your decision? Can’t you own up for your actions? Kevin Kelly: I always own up to what I do. What I meant is that I acted under someone’s advice. I did it at someone’s request. Bob Caudle: And who would that person be? Kevin Kelly: Well, look no further than this man right behind me. (The camera pans behind Kevin Kelly to reveal.....JAMES J. DILLON!) David Crockett: I cannot believe it, Bob! James J. Dillon here! (JJ Dillon shakes hands with Kevin Kelly and stands in front of his new protégé.) James J. Dillon: Let me make things perfectly clear, Bob Caudle. People tend to think that Mr. Magnificent’s attack was personal but Mike Graham fails to realize that it is nothing more than business. Mike, you’ve known me for so long. Back in the good days of your father Eddie in Florida, I’ve always done everything for business. Every man that I signed, every man that I managed, every man that I lead to a championship, it was business. For the past few months, I sat on the sidelines and advised Kevin Kelly the best I could. Everything he did to you for the past 3 months, he did it because James J. Dillon Enterprises Incorporated felt it was the right business move to do. I will tell you this in closing, Bob Caudle. I have my eyes on everything and everyone in Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling. There will be a lot of jockeying for positions in the next couple of weeks and you better rest assured that I will do everything I can to make “Mr. Magnificent” the most talked about man in Mid-Atlantic. (Dillon and Kelly walk away from the set) Bob Caudle: We’re out of time and we’ll see you next week. Don’t miss Worldwide Wrestling tomorrow night! spaldoni
MACW is off and running! Love the promos, they really got the Andersons, Jayhawks and of course JJ Dillon over. Kamala with the House of Humperdink will only add to their insanity and chaos. Gino is defiantly on a roll and it looks like Liz is fully behind him. WOW! Piper is coming in! Big upset as The best Kernodle lives up to his name and defeats Ole. Looks like Kernodle and Sawyer are heading for a showdown with the Andersons. Like the Fuller/Tyler feud. Also like Randy Rose joining the Stud Stable. With all the factions in MACW, a man defiantly needs friends. Bulldogs win the titles! They sure have a lot of teams gunning for them. kevinmcfl
Awesome transition to MACW. Kamala as a babyface was a nice ploy to jump Steve Doll and head the House of Humerdink Really fun interview with the Jayhawks! Nice win for Gino... looking forward to seeing where this goes with Elizabeth The Andersons are back at home and this means trouble for Kernodle And here comes JJ Dillion... Nice... more chaos
Jesse Ewiak
TV - Great transition to MACW, after being Atlantic Coast for a while. - Minnesota Wrecking Crew making a big impact, but why not, since it's their home territory now. - Interesting angle w/ Kamala & Humperdink, even though Humperdin was always a weird fit as a manager in my view - Solid Kansas Jayhawk promo, even though I doubt the actual Bobby Jaggers ever read In Cold Blood. Dutch Mantell, possibly though. - Gino & Liz is a great team, even though it's probably the biggest stretch of fantasy booking that Savage would ever allow that to happen. - Piper coming to Mid-Atlantic is a big deal, especially after his long run on the West Coast. - Dillon showing up as Kevin Kelly's manager is a big deal. House Show Interesting smaller scale house show, as Kernodle/Ole was pushed on TV, and the Stub Stable have been booked well, and ended with a match that was probably quite awesome, involving The Bulldogs, Golden, and Rose. The semi-main, well, you've got to sell popcorn to the people.

spaldoni
I agree with Kev, Sheik and Volkoff probably almost caused a riot by draping the flag over Piper. Sheik as US champ will get massive heat. Rookie Tim Patterson is looking pretty good, especially with that win over Duke Myers. I think Charland lit a fire under Horner. Brett Sawyer gets a huge win over Dynamite Kid. That Sullivan/Lefebvre must of been a wild one. This could be a money making crazy feud.

spaldoni
I wonder what's going on with JJ and Gino? They would make a perfect pair. Cool seeing Jimmy Valiant with the Mid Atlantic title. The man was defiantly over here. Brett Wayne is doing pretty well. Tyree Pride gets a nice rub teaming with Mr. Wonderful as they take the Bulldogs to a double DQ. When wrestling the Masked Superstar, always watch out for that loaded mask. RPM's are on a roll and might give the Bulldogs a run for their money. SirEdger
MID-ATLANTIC CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING #3 WTBS STUDIOS, ATLANTA, GA JANUARY 18TH, 1985 The show starts with highlights from the Paul Orndorff vs Kamala match from Clash of the Champions in which Brett Wayne Sawyer came to the aid of Orndorff when he was being attacked by both Kamala & Kevin Sullivan. After the opening credits and usual introductions, Bob Caudle and David Crockett announce that signed for this week's show, Brett Wayne Sawyer will take on Kevin Sullivan in singles action Up first, The Stud Stable is scheduled to take on the team of Gino Hernandez & The Masked Superstar but Gino comes out and says that his partner isn't here yet and he'll do it alone if he has to. However, to the surprise of everyone, The Junkyard Dog, shows up and volunteers himself to be Gino's partner, not because he likes Gino but because it is the right thing to do. JYD warns Gino to not double-cross him because that will mean trouble. Match #1 The Stud Stable beat Gino Hernandez (w/Miss Elizabeth) & The Junkyard Dog by DQ after Gino used JYD's chain to knock Robert Fuller with it. After the match, Gino and JYD got into an argument until THE MASKED SUPERSTAR jumped JYD from behind. It was all a setup as the Superstar uses his loaded mask to knock out JYD! Match #2 Kevin Sullivan (w/Fallen Angel & Sir Oliver Humperdink) beat Brett Wayne Sawyer with the Double Stomp. After the match, PURPLE HAZE makes his way to the ring and plants the infamous Golden Spike in Sawyer's eye! Sawyer writhes in pain as medical personnel checks on him while the House of Humperdink leaves the studio Match #3 Dutch Mantell beat Jerry Brisco Up next, Stampede Rush come to the broadcast booth for an interview. Bob Caudle & David Crockett question them as to if they've missed their one and only shot at being tag team champions when ACCW morphed into Mid-Atlantic. Duke Myers says it's because Mid-Atlantic management only cares about the big names like the Minnesota Wrecking Crew or the current champs, The British Bulldogs. They know that they aren't doing things the way other teams do but they proved to be successful by being former Atlantic Coast Tag Team Champions as well as in other territories. Kerry Brown says he feels like management want Stampede Rush to break off and do things on their own. Kerry then suggests than they do just that. Duke Myers seems to be shocked but Kerry answers that they'll wreak so much havoc on their own that Jim Crockett will wish he wouldn't have messed with Stampede Rush. Once they're through in singles, they're coming back together to take the Mid-Atlantic Tag titles! Match #4 Kamala (w/Kevin Sullivan & Sir Oliver Humperdink) beat Billy Travis Other angles & promos: After an update on Brett Wayne Sawyer's medical condition, we're taken to a vignette in a dark room with Kevin Sullivan, Sir Oliver Humperdink and Purple Haze. Sullivan says it's the sacrifice Sawyer had to do for getting his nose in the House's business. If he wants to keep his other eye, he better stay out of their way. The only comments from Purple Haze were the usual "YUTE! YUTE!". The Masked Superstar & James J. Dillon came to the broadcast booth for an interview explaining their actions in the opening bout. Dillon says he knew that JYD would fall into their trap because it's exactly the type of things that JYD has done all his life. The Masked Superstar says that people like JYD are a plague to this business because they always feel so righteous and need to do the right thing. So Superstar did "the right thing" by knocking him out with his loaded mask. Dillon says that he, Superstar and Gino Hernandez are now the most powerful force in Mid-Atlantic. They will take everything in short notice. Looks like it's Groundhog Day for Mike Graham because he's once again attacked in the parking lot of the WTBS Studios, this time by Kevin Kelly & Rocky "The Best Kernodle". Kernodle holds up Graham as Kelly pummels Graham with his infamous brass knuckles. How much more can Mike Graham take? The Stud Stable comes out to close the show for an interview. It's announced that Jimmy Golden is getting a shot at the Mid-Atlantic TV Championship tonight against Boomer Lynch. Golden is supremely confident he'll walk away with the title but Robert Fuller is mad about Gino Hernandez hitting him with JYD's chain earlier in the night. Fuller says it doesn't matter which one of himself, Golden or their new ally Randy Rose gets to him but someone will. It's about time for somebody to knock Gino off his pedestal and it will be the Stud Stable that will do so.
