Sheik applies the Camel Clutch on Orndorff until Junkyard Dog charged the ring to clean house from Sheik & Volkoff. The show ended with Orndorff & JYD celebrating together. Tyree Pride - Kabuki is an interesting semi-main, along with Sullivan & Mad Dog likely being a very fun brawl. Mid-Atlantic - Stong win for Volkoff going over Kabuki - Orndroff & Kernodle vs. Hernandez & Superstar is a hot 2nd match, even though Hernandez & Superstar lose. Which makes the next tag match interesting. Does Hernandez want a partner or an excuse, if he loses again? - Huge win for Tim Horner, even though I'd be wary of any dark alleys after that, in case Tonga happened to be there. Clash of the Champions - Fun unndercard, including Boomer Lynch surprisingly winning the TV title, and two quick matches involving Duke Myers and Jack Brisco. - Again, I think you're setting something up w/ Hernandez & Masked Superstar, or I'm overthinking things. - Big win for Orndroff, and a teamup of Orndroff & Sawyer could be an awesome top face team. - Big win for Arn Anderson, and good set-up for a future tag title match Worldwide Big TV match, allowing Valiant to keep the TV title and I'm not surprised Hernandez walked away from his partner, but I am surprised it was with Brown, and not Superstar. Solid house show, including a fun tag title match, Gino not doing well with tag partners, and a main event that well, I'm sure the fans were happy that Valiant won. Mid-Atlantic - The Stud Stable here in Mid-Atlantic will be interesting and wow, we have a great angle w/ Superstar & Gino screwing over JYD. - Another heated angle with Sullivan spiking Sawyer - I mean, I'm not against Mike Graham getting beat up every week on TV... House Show Good house show, and the crowd would've loved JYD making the save at the end of the show. Even though Richard Charland can now say officially, he main evented a Mid-Atlantic house show. Think the Studd could be wildcards for you as they could fill any role you want them to. Sullivan is always scary to watch as you never know what is next! Everyone is devastated by this news as Eddie Graham appeared the night before as the special guest referee in the main event between the Junkyard Dog & Bobby Jaggers and Kevin Sullivan & Kamala. On behalf of everyone at Jim Crockett Promotions & MACW, we are sending our condolences to his son Mike and the entire Graham family. In the meantime, Mike Graham has been pulled off every MACW event for the upcoming weeks. To celebrate Eddie Graham's life, fans are invited to attend the Eddie Graham Memorial Show on February 3rd, 1985 at the Convention Hall in Miami, FL. SirEdger Posted January 29, 2020 Author Report Share Posted January 29, 2020 MID-ATLANTIC CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING #4 WTBS STUDIOS, ATLANTA, GA JANUARY 25TH, 1985 Up first, after the opening credits, Bob Caudle & David Crockett acknowledge the passing of Eddie Graham a few days ago and hype the Eddie Graham Memorial Show on February 3rd at Convention Hall in Miami. They also confirm that Mike Graham has been pulled from all upcoming appearances. Hubert Gallant will replace him in tag team action with Boomer Lynch against Mad Dog Lefebvre & Richard Charland later in the show. The Briscos come to the broadcast booth for an interview. The Briscos complain they should be the ones in line to wrestle the British Bulldogs and they were robbed of that opportunity by Mid-Atlantic management. They cite tonight's house show event in which the Bulldogs will defend their titles against the duo of Bulldog Bob Brown & Reverend Jimmy Valiant. The Briscos are then interrupted by James J. Dillon. Dillon says he understands their frustration and pitches that he can help them. He gives Kevin Kelly as an example as to how he made things happen. And he mentions that Gino Hernandez is now the new Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Champion now that they joined forces together. Dillon is fully aware of the past history between Gino & the Briscos and how it was a winning formula. Dillon offer the Briscos a deal to make business with James J. Dillon Enterprises. He doesn't give them any time frame but he knows they'll do the right thing... Match #1 "Hangman" Bobby Jaggers beat The Junkyard Dog after a distraction from US Heavyweight Champion The Iron Sheik The Minnesota Wrecking Crew make their way to the booth, in preview of the match later in the show between Arn Anderson and Davey Boy Smith. Arn Anderson says the only reason it's a singles match is because the Bulldogs are scared that they'll lose the titles against the Andersons. Arn adds that being a champion is a state of mind in the Anderson family and he's part of that legacy; he wants IN that legacy and the only way to do that, is if he & Ole can beat the Bulldogs for the tag titles. Ole adds that the Bulldogs can hide in their little doghouse all they want but eventually, the Andersons will come knocking and destroy it entirely until there's nothing behind them. Today, Arn will prove that the Bulldogs are jokes of champions and when it's over, they won't be denied any longer. Match #2 Scott Casey fight "Mr. Magnificent" Kevin Kelly (w/James J. Dillon) to a double countout. Kelly was tempted to use those brass knuckles on Casey after the match but with partner Johnny Mantell coming to his partner's aid, Kelly thought otherwise Match #3 Mad Dog Lefebvre & Richard "Le Magnifique" Charland beat Hubert Gallant (subbing for Mike Graham) & Boomer Lynch Up next, Paul Orndorff is coming to the ring for his scheduled when he's ambushed by The Iron Sheik & Nikolai Volkoff. The two foreigners make a number on Orndorff on the outside until The Rock N' Roll RPMs come out to make the save. Mike Davis grabs the mic and challenges the Sheik & Volkoff to a tag match right now! Match #4 United States Heavyweight Champion The Iron Sheik & Nikolai Volkoff beat The Rock N' Roll RPMs Match #5 Arn Anderson beat Mid-Atlantic Tag Team Champion Davey Boy Smith with the Gourdbuster. After the match, Ole & Arn try to do a number on Davey Boy Smith but Dynamite Kid climbs on the top rope and headbutts Ole, causing him to fall down on the apron. Seeing that Ole is incapacitated, Arn retreats himself. Bob Caudle & Jim Crockett hype up next week's TV show featuring an encounter between "Cowboy" Bob Orton and The Great Kabuki and Robert Fuller vs Reverend Jimmy Valiant. They also plug tonight's live event featuring 3 title matches. They are then interrupted by The British Bulldogs, incensed following what happened in the previous match. Davey Boy Smith says it's crystal clear that Ole & Arn are only in this to cripple and maim them and this is not how real champions conduct themselves. Dynamite Kid adds that maybe they don't get title shots because Jim Crockett has figured out what everyone else already has; that the Minnesota Wrecking Crew are cowards and are weak. Personally, Dynamite adds he and Davey Boy will take on any comers and when the day comes that it's Ole & Arn's turn, they will gladly kick their asses. But right now, the Bulldogs are focused on proving why they were deserving of being the inaugural Mid-Atlantic Tag Team Champions and they're not going away anytime soon. Main Event Match #6 Lumberjack Match (explained on commentary to prevent any more interference from The Iron Sheik & Nikolai Volkoff) Brett Wayne Sawyer beat Tyree Pride. Postmatch, a man wearing mask and a jacket with the letters "CR" in the back attacks Brett Wayne Sawyer, unbeknownst to the lumberjacks involved in the match, busy retreating to the back. The masked man then connects with a Brainbuster on Sawyer, leaving him out cold. The show ends with the masked man escaping through the studio door before the lumberjacks return to get him. A big brawl ensued between both teams Triangle Match: Johnny Mantell beat King Tonga & Jerry Brisco in 11:08 when Mantell rolled up Brisco -The House of Humperdink (Kevin Sullivan & Kamala) beat Mad Dog Lefebvre & Richard Charland in 14:21 after interference from Bota The Witch Doctor. The House does a number on both men and it looks like Bota is officially a member of the House of Humperdink now! -Scott Casey beat Rocky "The Best Kernodle" in 20:05 Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Championship: Gino Hernandez (w/Miss Elizabeth & James J. Dillon) beat The Purple Haze (w/Sir Oliver Humperdink) in 18:08 to retain United States Heavyweight Championship: The Junkyard Dog beat The Iron Sheik in 1:21 to seemingly win the US title. Referee Bill Alfonso was originally knocked out after being caught between JYD and the Sheik while JYD was charging for the Sheik. JYD even used his chain to knockout the Sheik and make the cover, with another referee making the pinfall. The crowd exploded in cheers and it was literally impossible for the ring announcer to say or do anything because of the crowd so there was no announcement made. On the morning of January 26th, a press release from Jim Crockett Promotions stated that the official decision was that Bill Alfonso disqualified Junkyard Dog for assaulting an official and the United States Heavyweight Championship was returned to the Iron Sheik. Jesse Ewiak Posted January 29, 2020 Report Share Posted January 29, 2020 Worldwide - 1/19 - Big win for Gino for the Mid-Atlantic title - Other huge matches w/ JYD-Sullivan and even Orndroff making Doll look good House Show - 1/20 - Interesting matches for the House show, including Brisco, Orndroff, Golden, and Rose getting solid wins - Hmm, I think there was a slight misprint as I don't think Oliver Humperdink teamed up w/ JYD to take on Oliver Humperdink. Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling - 1/25 - You handled Graham's death the best you could, especially since it's always weird handling RL death's. - Solid opening to plant some seeds for possible future angles. - Big win by Jaggers, even though he gets help from The Iron Shiek, who has moved quickly on from Piper. - Good promo from the Wrecking Crew, to set up what should be an awesome match w/ The Bulldogs. - Fun way to set up The Foreign Legion - Rock 'n' Roll's tag match, but still put over heels. - Awesome Arn - Davey Boy match, including a great angle after the match. - Whomever could be that masked man? House Show - 1/25 - Bob Brown & Jimmy Valient on one team and The Bulldogs on another team is sure a gap between workrate between two teams. - The guy named Bota the Witch Doctor is with Kevin Sullivan? Things are really heating up. It pays to have friends as Mantell has Casey's back forcing Kelly to think twice LOL. Fun impromptu moment as the RPM's challenge Sheik and Volkoff. The evil foreigners prevail. Cliff hanger ending as a mysterious masked man arrives. Fans will defiantly be tuning in next week. Mantell gets a huge win in the 3 way over Brisco and Tonga. I want to see more of the House of Humperdink going at it with Charland and Lefebvre. That could be one hard hitting feud. JYD has the fans up and cheering as he seemingly defeats Sheik for the title. Good move waiting to make the official announcement as it may have prevented a riot. Jimmy Valiant is an excellent angle as he could get a whole flock to follow him. Too bad he came up against Gino. I think JYD vs Sullivan could be an epic angle. Book this in some of the towns with a high minority population and you would bring in SSSS. On TV, JYD vs The Iron Sheik would be just as good! I love masked men mysteries... Who is CR? Officials are sending CR out of the studios to keep the show rolling... -Paul Orndorff beat Mike Davis by countout in 16:37 -Duke Myers beat his Stampede Rush cohort Kerry Brown in 5:33. Very creative booking to determine the number 1 TV title contender as tag team partners wrestle. Myers wins it and gets the shot. All sorts of craziness after the Boomer/Smith draw as CR gets involved as well as Ole and Dynamite. Great chaos to end the show. Lot's of upsets at the house show. Horner beats Superstar and Kernodle defeats Mr. Wonderful! Oh man Gino has dissention with Kabuki! I'm not sure if Gino wants to mess with the House of Humperdink. Kabuki will wrestle Bob Orton in this week's feature bout and Gino Hernandez will join Bob Caudle & David Crockett at commentary. Match #1 Mid-Atlantic Tag Team Champion Dynamite Kid beat Randy Rose (w/the Stud Stable) with the Diving Headbutt Up next, a western style music video featuring the Gunslingers, Scott Casey and Johnny Mantell. Scott Casey will wrestle The Masked Superstar later in the show. Match #2 Robert Fuller (w/the Stud Stable) beat Reverend Jimmy Valiant Match #3 The Great Kabuki (w/Sir Oliver Humperdink) beat Bob Orton. Gino Hernandez was at commentary - along with Miss Elizabeth and James J. Dillon. Gino seems pretty disinterested by the match and JJ Dillon did most of the work. After the match, Kabuki and Gino confronted each other and it ended with Kabuki spitting Green Mist in Gino's face! Match #4 Johnny Mantell beat Richard "Le Magnifique" Charland. Postmatch, The Masked Superstar jumps on Mantell, prompting Scott Casey to defend his partner. However, Superstar knocks out Casey, using his loaded mask. A cocky Superstar asks for the referee to immediately start his match with Casey. Match #5 Scott Casey rolls up The Masked Superstar to score the upset victory! Postmatch, another attack on the Gunslingers and this time it's Purple Haze, who sneaks from behind to jump on Casey with a chairshot. Casey is out cold and Humperdink makes an "official" 10-count to mock Casey. The Minnesota Wrecking Crew comes to the broadcast booth for an interview. Arn Anderson repeats that the Bulldogs will not be able to dodge them forever and that the entire world knows that Arn & Ole Anderson are the best tag team in the world. Ole Anderson adds that last week on Worldwide, he could've ended Davey Boy to the snap of his fingers but he chose to just fire a warning shot. But the more time will go by, more the warning shot will be intense. And there might be a time where warning shots won't be enough and we'll have to see the real thing happen. And when that happens, the Bulldogs won't be the same ever again. Up next, the Stud Stable of Robert Fuller, Mid-Atlantic TV Champion Jimmy Golden and Randy Rose make their way to the set. Robert Fuller hypes his match with Dutch Mantell on Worldwide Wrestling this week while Jimmy Golden hypes his title match for the Eddie Graham Memorial Show. Golden says that while he doesn't particularly like or dislike Duke Myers, the thing is that while the Stud Stable is efficient in tag team, they're efficient in singles as well. Because they can count on one thing being certain and that's that no matter what, the Stud Stable is family. This isn't something that Duke Myers could say about his partnership with Kerry Brown. In reality, Stampede Rush were just 2 guys put together because promoters were looking for spots to fill while the Stud Stable are the guys that promoters count on to fill buildings. Golden says he doesn't want to wait for Monday; they got a house show tonight so Golden announces he will put the title on the line against Duke Myers just to make an example out of him! Lefebvre had originally won the match after interference from Richard "Le Magnifique" Charland but referee Bill Alfonso reversed the decision when the Rock N' Roll RPMs and Bulldog Bob Brown came out to explain to him what happened, causing the decision to be reversed. An irate King Tonga ran in to attack Bulldog Brown to set up the next match. -King Tonga beat Bulldog Bob Brown in 6:01 with the Tongan Death Grip -Dutch Mantell beat Johnny Mantell in 23:20 Mid-Atlantic TV Championship: Duke Myers beat Jimmy Golden with a small package in 23:23 to win the title! The Gunslingers are getting a good push but watch out because Purple Haze and an angry Masked Superstar are coming after them. Cant wait for the Bulldogs/Andersons match! That will pack the house. Sullivan is at his all time high of creepiness LOL. That Kamala/Fuller match would of been a blast to watch. Gino puts down the challenge of Kabuki. Who's next for Gino? Also Kevin Sullivan is the perfect one to bring the chaos! Nice tribute to Eddie Graham. Like seeing Dillon and Humperdink on opposite sides as Gino and Kabuki go at it! Gino is so big right now! SirEdger Posted February 19, 2020 Author Report Share Posted February 19, 2020 MID-ATLANTIC CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING TV #6 WTBS STUDIOS, ATLANTA, GA FEBRUARY 8TH, 1985 As the show comes on the air, Bob Caudle & David Crockett recaps what happened at the Eddie Graham Memorial Show last Monday in Miami, including the main event between Gino Hernandez and The Great Kabuki for the Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Championship. They also discuss the string of incidents involving Kevin Sullivan recently and we're scheduled to hear from the House of Humperdink in the show. Bob Caudle has 2 announcements to make before the show starts; first, this week's episode of Worldwide Wrestling will emanate exceptionnally from the National Guard Armory in Elkin, NC. The 2nd announcement is for a live TV special to air on Saturday, February 22 from the Charlotte Coliseum in Charlotte, NC simply called "Power Hour". In that special event, Mike Graham will finally put his heated feud with "Mr. Magnificent" Kevin Kelly to rest in the feature bout of the show. -In the opening bout of the show, we're scheduled to have a bout between Bob Orton and Johnny Mantell but there's no referee in sight. A stagehand comes to Bob Caudle & David Crockett to explain that the referees are a bit late due to "mechanical issues" and therefore, they'll need a special referee to proceed with the first match. And this is when the masked "CR" comes to the booth and volunteers himself to be that referee for the first match. Being in a bit of a predicament, it's agreed to let CR officiate the first match. Guest Referee - "CR": Johnny Mantell upsets Bob Orton after the referee CR knocks out Orton outside the ring with a bottle! The House of Humperdink make their way to the broadcast booth and Sir Oliver Humpedink is asked about Kabuki's shortcoming against Gino Hernandez at the Eddie Graham Memorial Show on Monday. Humperdink says he's disappointed but he's not angry at Kabuki as much as he's angry at the fact that lately, the House hasn't truly been what they're supposed to be. Humperdink thought that adding Bota the Witch Doctor to the group would shake things up and it hasn't been quite the case yet. Humperdink is starting to think that he and Kevin Sullivan might have to trim the fat off the group and keep only those who are worthy of being in there. Humperdink is sending a message to Kabuki to show no mercy going forward to whomever he'll face. Humperdink turns his attention to Purple Haze, who has a match scheduled up next against the other half of the Gunslingers, Scott Casey. Humperdink went to Jim Crockett and asked for the match to be contested under Texas Death Match rules. Humperdink wants this match to be what his group needs to regroup. David Crockett tries to ask Kevin Sullivan about his recent actions and what's with the Commandments references. Sullivan chooses to play coy and says that his work has barely just begun... Texas Death Match: Scott Casey beat The Purple Haze as he can't beat the 10 count after being pinned following a piledriver on the floor. Looks like Humperdink's pep talk didn't have th effect he was looking for! -"Avalanche" Buzz Tyler beats Billy Travis after interference from Johnny Mantell. Postmatch, after the commercial break, it's announced that Billy Travis demanded a match against Mantell on Worldwide Wrestling this weekend at the Elkin National Guard Armory! Before our main event featuring Robert Fuller and Jerry Brisco, Bob Caudle interview The Brisco Brothers. Jack Brisco says that while it looks like it's all about the eventual showdown between the Andersons and the British Bulldogs down the road, people tend to forget that the Briscos were the most dominant team prior to Jim Crockett purchasing Eddie Graham's territory and they're here to remind everyone of that. Jerry Brisco adds that he's gonna make an example out of Robert Fuller tonight, proving that the Stud Stable are anything but Studs. Jerry says that perhaps he and Jack's careers are winding down but they can still get the job done and this is what 1985 will be about. Bob Caudle announces that Bob Orton is now out indefinitely following the heinous attack from the masked CR and management has received word that Brett Wayne Sawyer is willing to step up to defend Orton's honor and challenged CR to a match next week on Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling TV. CR has reportedly accepted and will do one better: he will unveil his identity on the show next week before the match!!! -In the main event, Jerry Brisco beat Robert Fuller with the Oklahoma Roll. Postmatch, a big brawl ensues as Jimmy Golden attacked Jerry Brisco and big brother Jack made the save! Is a showdown between the Stud Stable and the Briscos happening soon?
