Future Shock!

Great way to open the show by featuring the exciting new stars.

YES! Power and Glory get some gold. I loooooooooove them

Damn! I think Liger and Owen might've stolen the show

Hard act to follow, but Garvin and Martel did a top notch job.

Road Warriors get the huge pop but those darn NWA/WCW rules put a damper on the special moment

Sting gets the flash pin but I know Sherri and Spivey arent finished yet.

Rich still has some fire but Muta's in a league of his own right now.

Cool seeing the Diamond Stud debut in our game. Ventura was a nice touch putting him over.

Luger finally wins the big one! Can he lead WCW into the 90s? We shall see. Well done passing of the torch moment.

Awesome show!

WCW Power Hour - December 29
Gordon Solie & Paul E Dangerously welcome us in for a nice highlight show of the Future Shock PPV. We see highlights from the six-man with Bulldog, Z-Man, and Pillman going over. We also see the match between Owen and Liger highlighted in a major way. Paul E goes on and on all episode about how the Great Muta is the rightful number one contender for the WCW title and he will not rest until Lex Luger signs the contract. Tomorrow night in the Omni… Flair teams with Muta against Luger and Sting and once Muta pins Luger there will be no doubt who is the rightful champion.

In action, we see the JYD win a decent match… also the new US tag team champions, Power and Glory look good. We hear from Brother Love who says that Ron Garvin is not going to be able to get away tomorrow night in the Omni when Rick Martel takes on him for the TV title!

We get a ruling from Jim Herd on the state of the WCW and NWA Tag titles. We find out that the NWA titles are currently held by Arn Anderson and Tully Blanchard. The WCW titles did change hands at Future Shock. The Road Warriors will defend the WCW tag titles tomorrow night in the Omni while Anderson and Blanchard defend the NWA tag titles against the Rockers. The United States Championship is currently vacant due to Lex Luger winning the World title. The title is being held up in a special three day gauntlet tournament… we’ll have four matches that take place on Power Hour… two matches on World Championship Westling and then the finals on Main Event to crown the new United States Champion. That tournament will be coming up in a matter of weeks.

Our final contests see the Bob Orton and Harley Race win a tag team encounter  along with Tully Blanchard getting a singles victory. Our main event saw The One Man Gang defeat Big Josh with help from Kevin Sullivan… but here comes the JYD to even the odds!

World Championship Wrestling - December 30
Tony Schaivone & Jesse Ventura bring us in for a big night of WCW action. They put over Future Shock in a big way and we kick things off with Lex Luger coming out to a grand ovation.

He looks good with the WCW big gold belt and he works the fans. He talks about working so hard for this title and it coming to fruition in front of a record crowd and a worldwide audience. Just as he gets going we see Ric Flair walk out and he’s got Ole, Arn, and Tully with him. They get right in Luger’s face but he no sells it to let them know he isn’t afraid. He has climbed the mountain and now he will take on anyone who will try to take what is rightfully his. This brings out the Great Muta and Paul E. Dangerously is on a roll tonight and he’s letting everyone have it… he says that tomorrow night in the Omni, Flair and Muta are going to put him and Stin…. Wait a moment… here comes the Stinger. The crowd gives no doubt who the top dawg is. He comes down to the ring and he sides with Luger… just then JJ Dillon steps in to let everyone know he’s been made the assistant to Jim Herd and will no longer be affiliated with the Horsemen… thus… he has the ability to make matches… and tonight he is doing so…  tonight Sting and Luger need to find two partners to take on the Horsemen and Muta in an eight-man tag team main event!

We see the ever exciting Owen Hart come out on top in singles action… he cuts a promo on how good Liger was but how he knows he can beat him and he’ll prove it tomorrow night in the Omni!

The Road Warriors made quick work of two jobbers and said that the WCW tag titles are one of three in the company right now but one of one when it comes to what matters. They are going to keep an close eye on the NWA tag title match tomorrow night in the Omni and they will be the first ones to take the titles from them… put them with theirs and be the undisputed kings of tag team wrestling!

Jesse Ventura puts over the Diamond Stud Scott Hall who will make his debut in the Omni tomorrow night

Savio Vega gets a win with the Boricuas outside the ring.

Gary Hart lets the Berzerker kill someone… win via count out.

We see Sting and Luger in the back with Eric Bischoff… they are talking about who to get as partners and then we see the Rockers walk in the scene… shake hands… well… here we go!

Rick Martel gets a nice win and he and Brother Love run down Ron Garvin.

Michael Rotundo & Curtís Hughes won a tag team encounter.

In the main event, in an eight-man tag team match, The Great Muta pinned Marty Jannetty.  The Horsemen were reluctant to tag in Muta but then they wouldn’t accept his tag to get out of the ring. Sting, Luger, and the Rockers played well enough together. The chaos ensued at the end which led to the nasty shining wizard. We saw Flair/Muta/Luger/Sting all going at it to finish the show… they’ll face off tomorrow night in the Omni!

WCW The Main Event - December 31
Eric Bischoff & Bob Caudle put over a fun episode of Main Event that highlights Future Shock. We see the TV title and US tag title matches in full along with words from Brother Love. Eric and Bob put over the big night in the Omni and talk about Flair and Muta vs Sting and Luger. We then see the World Tag Title match in full to close out the show… nothing special but more or less a way to promote what happened at Future Shock and what will go down tonight in the Omni!

WCW Live from the Omni - December 31
Jushin Liger and Owen Hart had an awesome 20-minute contest but this time it was Owen Hart who snuck out a controversial victory with a German Suplex double pin situation. Multiple referees had a say but in the end it was Owen who walked away with the victory.

Television Championship Ron Garvin vs Rick Martel was an interesting contest. This one went almost 15-minutes again… but in the end it was Martel who won via DQ when Ron Garvin destroyed him with a steel chair! Martel laid motionless while Garvin knocked out Brother Love and stood with the tv title!

The One Man Gang and Kevin Sullivan defeated Big Josh and The Junkyard Dog

WCW United States Tag Titles - The Power and Glory defeated the Nasty Boys with interference from Brother Love.
Flyin Brian, The Z-Man, & British Bulldog defeated The Samoans & Abdullah the Butcher w/ Gary Hart in six-man action.

WCW Tag Titles - The Road Warriors defeated Harley Race and Bob Orton in a roughneck match that saw a lot of brawling. Orton and Race didn’t appear to want to bump and the Road Warriors no-sold everything… so that was fun.

The Diamond Stud Scott Hall made his WCW debut an beat the hell out of Johnny Ace.

NWA Tag Titles -In a 30-minute classic… the Rockers defeated Arn Anderson and Tully Blanchard to become the NWA

World Tag Team Champions. Tully Blanchard seemed to have really hurt his arm during the match but kept going. He ended up eating the pin after a double super kick took Arn out of the ring and then the Rockers were able to 2 on 1 and get the victory.

Kona Crush defeated the Berzeker w/ Gary Hart via DQ

MAIN EVENT Lex Luger and Sting defeated The Great Muta and Ric Flair - Muta went to MYST Luger but he ducked and Flair got a face full of green. Luger clotheslined Muta out of the ring to the floor… Sting came off the top rope with a splash and got the 3-count on Flair for the victory.

Television.

I'm sure Jim Herd giving JJ matchmaking abilities won't backfire in any way whatsoever. Though his first main event was admittedly a doozy.

Love the idea of turning the gauntlet into a tournament.

The Omni.

Owen evens the score with Liger albeit with an asterisk.

Garvin snaps and lays out Martel and Brother Love.

OMG and Sullivan always were a good team.

Brother Love recovers from the beating Ron gave him enough to save the US tag titles.

Pillman, Zenk & Smith are proving to be quite the trio.

The Roadies tend off the grizzled veterans.

Hall shines in his debut.

The Rockers capitalize of an injured Blanchard to capture the NWA World Tag Team Titles.

Berserker got a little too out of control.

A Flair/Muta misfire ends in disaster.

Great job with the Future Shock aftermath which segued nicely into the Omni card.

Owen and Liger could have a series of matches that will be talked about for years to come.

The heel in Garvin comes out as he uses a chair and his title to clean house.

It's fun watching OMG and Sullivan wreak havoc.

People better pay attention to Power and Glory.

Loved that 6 man match up with the exciting youngsters defeating the brutal savages.

LOL, the Road Warriors get the win but Race and Orton sure didn't get pushed over.

Diamond Stud lives up to Ventura's hype.

WOW! Just like that, the Rockers win the gold! Tully might be taking a hiatus.

Kona and Bezerker could be a fun big man feud

Hmmmm, after that I don't think Flair's going to be too happy with Muta.

Plus we’ll see three different tag team championship matches… those matches will be announced in the coming weeks.

The One Man Gang w/ Kevn Sullivan beats the hell out of two random dudes.

Tatanka w/ Wahoo gets a nice victory. Wahoo seems to be nursing some shoulder issues.

World Championship Wrestling 1/4

Tony Schiavone & Jesse Ventura bring us in for a huge night of action. They put over the announcement from JJ Dillion…

We get footage from James J Dillon who is assistant to the regional manager here in WCW. He lets us know that we’ll see a special United States Championship tournament in one month. Between now and then… we will need to see the best of the best here in WCW and decide who will make it to the final eight to run the gauntlet. Plus we’ll see three different tag team championship matches… those matches will be announced in the coming weeks.

Jesse and Tony then talk about how we’ll see Sting, Ric Flair, and the WCW Champion Lex Luger. Right now it is time to head to the ring for our opening contest…featuring the NWA World Tag Team Champions… the Rockers!

The Rockers get a nice tag team victory… it doesn’t last long though… here come the Road Warriors… they are talking a big game but the Rockers aren’t backing down.

Abdullah the Butcher & The Samoans w/ Gary Hart win a six-man contest.

We get a special promo with Gordon Solie in the back… he’s with Ric Flair and Arn Anderson… Ole Anderson is in his non-wrestling gear… but Tully Blanchard is in a suit with a sling on his arm. We find out that Tully has been sidelined for the time-being… his arm is in a bad way. Ole Anderson is going to will be more of an advisor for the Horsemen and step in the ring when he needs to. Arn Anderson is now 100% focused on the WCW television and United States championships. Ric Flair is now the hunter and he’s hungry. Lex Luger has exactly what he needs to be filled and he’s going to push him to every limit he’s got to get the WCW World Title back. If Sting continues to but his nose in Flair’s business…. Then he will be the one who goes down… and goes down hard!

Television Champion - Ron Garvin won a singles match against Bill Irwin - Rick Martel and Brother Love were quick to point out how he cheated to beat Martel… Ron says why don’t we do it with NO dqs then! Martel says he has a face of granite and Garvin says his hands of Stone will bust that granite into pieces!

The Diamond Studd - Scott Hall wins a singles match with a nasty Diamond Death Drop!

We get a promo from WCW Champion, Lex Luger. He puts over Future Shock and the Omni card… he says he is going to keep a close eye on the US title tournament. He knows what that title is all about and he’s proud to have added to its legacy… that’s when things take a turn. Out of the back walks Ivan and Nikita Koloff! They walk over to Luger and Nikita is quick to point out how he’s sick and stirred of seeing that title that he held with honor become a prop for people who want to be something. Nikita says he is the most fierce competitor in the history of the NWA and he’s back in WCW with the help of his Uncle Ivan to achieve the destiny of the Kremlin… to gain the WCW World Heavyweight Championship! Luger says that History will repeat itself if Nikita decides to step in that ring with him… Nikita swipes the title from Luger’s hand! Oh man… security comes out… Nikita is backed off…. Luger has got to worry about Flair, Muta, and now Nikita!

The Nasty Boys put together a pretty good tag team match and work the crowd. They have a nice little following going.

We get the Wildfire in singles action and he has got the crowd behind him. We find out that he and the JYD will be teaming up tomorrow night on the Main Event against Kevin Sullivan and the One Man Gang!

Gordon Solie is with Sting and out comes JJ Dillon. We find out that Sting is announced as the number one contender for the WCW Championship and he will face the champion at WrestleWar on February the 26th! Sting points out how there is a lot of time between now and then and he knows a lot can happen but he’s going to prove to everyone why he’s the number one contender and when it comes to WrestleWar… he is going to bring everything he’s got!

In our main event tonight - The Great Muta w/ Paul E defeated Tatanka w/ Wahoo McDaniel. Tatanka gave him a lot of fight but Muta was way too much. Muta hit a moonsault from across the ring that lit up the crowd - won the match - and showed the world why he may be the next World Champion - if he ever gets the chance!

WCW The Main Event 1/5

Eric Bischoff & Bob Caudle bring us in for a quick night of action. We find out that next week, on the Main Event, Ron Garvin and Rick Martel will go one on one in a no disqualification match for the Television Championship! Tonight on the Main Event, we see Flyin Brian, Owen Hart, The Samoans, Dan Spivey, & Kona Crush all in action.

In our main event, Tommy Rich and the JYD defeated the One Man Gang & Kevin Sullivan in a fun brawl. Rich hit the Thesz press on Sullivan for the victory. JYD needed some help out of the ring after the OMG hit him with a huge 747 after the match!

The Koloffs are here and waste no time putting Luger on notice.

Speaking of Luger, I wonder how he's reacting to the news that he has to team with Sting to take on the Horsemen before defending the World title against him at WrestleWar.

Muta continues to make an impressive case for a world title shot.

OMG may have just put JYD down for good.

Love the assistant to the regional manager title for JJ hahahaha

You have such an interesting scenario going on with Luger, Sting and the Horsemen.

I like Wahoo serving as a mentor to Tatanka.

Rockers and Road Warriors could be a money making program. Both are at the top of their game.

I'll never get tired of the Garvin/Martel feud. These guys just gel so well.

I hope the Diamond Stud gets a big push. I liked this gimmick.

WHOA! Nikita and Uncle Ivan are reunited and back for gold! Luger has a lot on his plate right now.

Maybe Muta does deserve a world title shot.

Rich gets the fall but JYD takes the beating

The next couple months in WCW will be must watch TV.

WCW Power Hour - 1/11

Gordon Solie & Paul E Dangerously bring us in and Paul E is in rare form tonight. He is pumping up the Clash and then WrestleWar and how in the hell was Sting picked to be the number one contender?!? He questions JJ Dillon and his decisions. Gordon says it was the right call. We find out that on Main Event this week, Rick Martel will take on Ron Garvin and challenge him for the WCW Television Championship… in a no-disqualification match! Tonight - we’ve got a lot of great action including STING! Let’s go to the ring!

In action tonight, we saw a couple of different squash matches including Dan Spivey w/ Sherri, The Power & Glory w/ Brother Love, The Samoans w/ Gary /Hart, Big Josh, The Z-Man, and Kona Crush.

WCW Top 10
Lex Luger - WCW Champion

  1. Sting

  2. Ric Flair

  3. Great Muta - International Champion

  4. Ron Garvin - Television Champion

  5. Arn Anderson

  6. Flyin Brian

  7. Rick Martel

  8. Abdullah the Butcher

  9. One Man Gang

  10. British Bulldog

In the Main Event, we saw Sting defeat the Berzerker via the Stinger Splash and then a top rope crossbody for the 3-count. Sting had to fight off the Samoans until we saw JYD, Tommy Rich, and Big Josh come out to lend him a hand.

World Championship Wrestling 1/11

Tony Schiavone & Jesse Ventura pump up a big night of action including a six-man tag that is sure to set some fires… plus we’ll see Arn Anderson and Ric Flair in tag team action against the Nasty Boys… plus Ron Garvin takes on Paul Roma… and we’ll see Sting! Right now we have our WCW World Champion, Lex Luger in action, let’s go to the ring!

Lex Luger wins a simple enough contest with the rack. He cuts a promo on Ric Flair… saying he is going to shut his mouth for good come the Clash… he says Muta is another top-tier challenger… Nikita Koloff is lying in the weeds… waiting for his time… but Luger then brings up Sting…the crowd pops… Luger says it is one day at a time and he and Sting are going to put an end to the Horsemen… but then when they clash it is going to be the match of the century and history will be made!

Harley Race & Bob Orton won a nice tag team match… these grizzled vets have got some momentum.

The Z-Man won a singles match and hit a flying dropkick and it was definitely a highlight of the night.

Arn Anderson & Ric Flair defeated The Nasty Boys with help from Tully Blanchard outside the ring. He tripped Knobbs right into a DDT from Anderson and then the 3-count. Flair and Anderson put the boots to them before walking off to the back… proud of themselves nonetheless.

The British Bulldog showed off his power… but he was interrupted by Nikita Koloff and Ivan who let everyone know that no one is safe from the Russian Nightmare!

Michael Rotundo & Curtis Hughes won a tag team encounter.

We hear from the Road Warriors and Rockers… we find out that both teams will be defending their titles at the Clash. The Rockers don’t want to wait and want the Road Warriors right now and the Road Warriors are all in for a fight but officials break it up.

Ron Garvin defeated Paul Roma w/ Brother Love via DQ when Rick Martel cracked him in the back of the head with a steel chair and busted him wide open!

Dan Spivey with Sherri won a nice singles match and dropped some dude on his head. Tony and Jesse say he may be the favorite heading into the US title tournament!

JYD & Tommy Rich beat the State Patrol… this brought out Sullivan and Gang who wanted to get frisky.

Sting, Brian Pillman, & Owen Hart defeated The Berzerker & the Samoans in a wild six-man tag!

Sting closes us out…. Puts over Owen and Brian in a big way. He says at the Clash, he and Luger are going to be one… then at WrestleWar… it’s going to be one on one! This brings out the Horsemen… All four of them come out and Tully has got a cast on his arm now… The Horsemen are challenging them to an eight-man tag next week?! Luger comes out to a nice pop and says let’s do it!

WCW The Main Event 1/12

Eric Bischoff & Bob Caudle catch us up on a great weekend of WCW action and pumped up the huge title contest here tonight… Ron Garvin defends the TV title against Rick Martel with NO DISQUALIFICATIONS! We have a couple other matches on the card but they really push the big eight-man next week with The Horsemen taking on Lex Luger, Sting, Owen Hart, & Brian Pillman! Let’s head to the ring…

Some good showcases this week as we see Wildfire Tommy Rich, Power & Glory, The Nasty Boys, Bill Irwin, Kona Crush, & Jushin Liger all in victorious contests.

TV TITLE - NO DQ
Ron Garvin vs Rick Martel w/ Brother Love
This one is a barn burner from the word go! Garvin gets the edge early on and brings the fight outside the ring. Martel plays a little cat and mouse but that all ends when Brother Love sticks his nose in the business and gets ROCKED for his presence! Martel then takes over for a couple of minutes… even busting open the shot on Garvin’s head and he looks to be bleeding like a stuck pig! Garvin sees the blood and then wipes his fist in it and NAILS Martel! Martel is rocked and Garvin hits the ropes and NAILS him again! Garvin runs to the ropes but Brother Love grabs his leg… Garvin pulls on his hair… Martel comes from out of nowhere and he delivers a knee… right into Garvin’s kidneys… he screams from the pain and falls right down… Martel covers him and gets a handful of tights… 1…2….3! Rick Martel sulks out of the ring with the WCW Television Championship, Brother Love has got blood all over his white suit… Power and Glory come out to celebrate with their US tag titles… this group has established themselves as top tier thus far in WCW… and it looks like it was at the cost of Ron Garvin!

Sting seems to be picking up a beef with Gary Hart's menagerie to go along with his feud with the Horsemen.

Speaking of the Horsemen, I'm not sure they thought that 8 man tag challenge through given the state of Tully's arm.

Brother Love comes through and Martel is able to claim the TV title.

One thing's for sure, Luger will have plenty of challengers in 1990.

Even though Sting's at war with the Horsemen, he's got some battles going with Gary Hart's men.

I really like the mix of talent in WCW. A lot of tough vets along with exciting new era stars.

Road Warriors and Rockers might have to settle things at WrestleWar.

Martel wins the TV title in a wild one with Garvin! With all the factions, Brother Love's is the one holding a lot of gold.

I can't wait to see how WrestleWar shapes up

WCW Power Hour -1/18

Gordon Solie & Paul E Dangerously put over a big night of action including the huge eight-man tag tonight on World Championship Wrestling. They let us know that WCW will be in Greensboro this week and Lex Luger will be defending the WCW Championship at that event along with Sting taking on Arn Anderson! Right now it is time to head to the ring and here comes the Enforcer!

In the Power Hour this week, Arn Anderson gets a nice win with his buddy Ole by his side. We also see Owen Hart and Davey Boy Smith win a good tag team match, plus we see Kona Crush in a dominant performance and also the Hogfarmers!

WCW Top 10!

WCW Champion - Lex Luger

Sting

Ric Flair

Great Muta -International Champion

Rick Martel - Television Champion

Arn Anderson

Davey Boy Smith

Scott Hall

Flyin Brian

Nikita Koloff

Owen Hart

In our marquee match, we see the ever-dangerous Berzerker take on Tatanaka with Wahoo. This one is a fun brawl with Tatanka really throwing hands and the big Tomahawk Chops do damage. Soon we see Gary Hart getting antsy outside the ring… he makes a look back and here comes the Samoans… Wahoo is trying to fight them off by himself but now we see Kevin Sullivan come out with the Gang and Wahoo is in a bad way… the crowd erupts when JYD runs out and he’s got the Nasty Boys with him! They back off the heels as this one ends in a DQ when everyone gets in the ring. Paul E and Gordon put this over in a big way… we’ll see you tonight for World Championship Wrestling!

World Championship Wrestling 1/18

Tony Schiavone & Jesse Ventura bring us in for a huge night of action but they cut right to footage of a situation that broke out earlier on in the evening as the wrestlers were arriving at the arena. We see a scene where Lex Luger is shown pulling up and getting out of his car but the Horsemen are there to welcome him. Luger is trying to back them off but out of the back comes Tully Blanchard and he nails Luger with his cast! Tully throws Luger into the ar window and he cracks the window! Security runs in and backs them off. JJ Dillon of all people is the one who throws Tully out of the building! We see Sting, Owen, and Pillman come in, they help Luger in the car, and they're off to the hospital!

We’re back and JJ is with Tony and Jesse… he announces that Tully Blanchard has been suspended. The match tonight will be a six-man as long as Sting, Pillman, and Owen can make it back to the arena. Luger has been admitted to the local hospital with a serious shoulder injury. We’ll find out more later on in the evening…

In action tonight… we see Nikita Koloff rip some dudes fucking head off. Ivan is putting him over like a million dollars…

The One Man Gang w/ Kevin Sullivan beats up two poor schmucks.

The Road Warriors are in tag team action and needless to say they leave their opponents in a heap of mess.

We find out that Sting, Owen, and Pillman are on their way back from the hospital… and supposedly, Luger has checked himself out!

The Z-man gets a nice singles win.

We see the US tag team champions, Power and Glory pick up a victory with Brother Love and Rick Martel celebrating outside the ring.

Dan Spivey comes out and shows how quickly he can destroy a human being with his valet Sherri by his side.

Paul E is out to make a big stink about how Muta is being overlooked and now he is calling on ever WCW official to give him one damn reason why Muta isn’t challenging Luger for the title at WrestleWar… JJ Dillon comes out and he’s trying to back Paul E off but Dangerously isn’t having it… Muta looks like he might fight JJ but cooler heads prevail!

The Wildfire Tommy Rich gets a nice win and works the crowd up before our big main event.

Ric Flair, Arn Anderson, & Ole Anderson defeated Sting, Brian Pillman, & Owen Hart in a chaotic six-man tag team match. Sting, Pillman, and Owen showed up right as the bell was ringing and they were in their street clothes. The finish saw Lex Luger show up… arm in a sling… try to help the Horsemen… but Muta came out and kicked him right in the shoulder and he went down. Pillman leaped out of the ring and took out Muta. Flair and Ole doubled up on Sting… Arn caught Owen and hit him with a DD F’N T! 1….2…3 and that’s all she wrote…

WCW The Main Event 1/19

Eric Bischoff & Bob Caudle bring us in to the Main Event… we hear about Tully being suspended. We also find out that Lex Luger’s WCW title match in Greensboro has been changed… now it will be Sting vs Ric Flair… Luger will be in Sting’s corner.

In terms of action tonight - nothing too exciting. Rotundo and Hughes do some tag work - we find out they’ll be at the Clash. Johnny Ace, Tommy Rich, Big Josh, & The Rockers all join in on the fun and work the fans.

One true highlight came when Ron Garvin - full on sell with his head wrapped and everything - cut a scathing promo on Rick Martel and Blubber Love! He says he’s got staples in his head and stone in his head and he’s coming for his TV Title!

Nasty Boys join in on the feud with Gary Hart. Bring on the chaos!

Luger's in a bad way, but this did get Tully out of the picture, so maybe this works in the long run for the babyfaces.

Love the way you write up the squash matches. LOL

Damn great way to end the show. Chaos in the ring and Muta makes his presence known to Luger.

Sting slides right into Luger's spot for Greensboro. I wonder what Flair thinks about all this.

Yes! Keep the Martel/Garvin feud going.

Plus the big main event… Ric Flair & Arn Anderson will take on Sting & Lex Luger!

Our main event tonight is a showcase where Jushin Thunder Liger is in singles action and wins. Not sure who Mr.X is… but he looks to be an athletic bloak with a good body… perhaps a young marvelous rookie.

I'm sure making the Roadies & Rockers team together will go swimmingly.

Love the intrigue you're creating for the main event at the Clash. Can Sting & Luger stay on the same page ahead of their match at WrestleWar? Can Flair force himself back into the title picture?

Bobby Heenan's legal team will be in contact with WCW management regarding the booking of his clients without his knowledge or consent.

All roads lead to the Clash.

The tag team division is stacked here. I have a feeling the Road Warriors and Rockers are heading towards a unification match.

If Sherri's reuniting the Skyscrapers, WCW better get ready.

So much going on in the world title scene. With Sting and Luger heading for a showdown, can they remain focused on the Horsemen. Or will Flair sneak back in the title slot. And how long will it be before Hart and Muta strike. And let's not forget about Nikita.  Lots of intrigue.

Lots of build towards The Clash as it should be.

I am sure The Horsemen interview went with a red-faced Ric woooooing a lot as he talked about beating Luger and Sting which I can see happening. Leap frogging Sting to face Luger for the WCW title? I can see that happening as well. Walking away with the title ... priceless.

Solid tag champions in The Roadies and the Rockers. Does a pair of wins point them towards a title unification? Maybe as they are solidly the two best teams here.

In action on the Power Hour… we see the JYD try and get some credit back after his ass whooping last week… Savio Vega with his Boricuas… Flyin Brian… The Samoans… all in action with good wins.

WCW Top Ten

WCW Champion: Lex Luger

  1. Sting
  2. Ric Flair
  3. Great Muta - International Champion
  4. Rick Martel - Television Champion
  5. Nikita Koloff

  8. Davey Boy Smith
  9. Scott Hall
  10. Dan Spivey

In our main event… The Rockers defeated Bob Orton & Harley Race for the NWA tag titles in a nasty tag match with a lot of hard-hitting. Orton and Race didn’t look to give the Rockers too much. A big double superkick on Orton spells the end. We do get the fun teeter-toter spot from Harley Race which is a highlight.

World Championship Wrestling - 2/1

Tony Schiavone & Jesse Ventura start us off with a run down of the Clash… Road Warriors defend the WCW titles against The Samoans… The Rockers defend the NWA titles against Curtis Hughes & Michael Rotundo… and then the Power and Glory defend the US Tag Titles against Wahoo & Tatanka. Plus we’ll see Ron Garvin & Rick Martel in a tv title rematch… and then we’ll see Muta taking on the Z-Man for the International Championship! Plus the big main event… Ric Flair & Arn Anderson will take on Sting & Lex Luger! Tonight we’ve got the Danger Zone with Sting and Luger… plus an eight-man tag with the Rockers and Road Warriors TEAMING UP!

A good WCW tonight… we’ve got Muta… Nikita…Spivey… Diamon Studd… Davey Boy Smith & Owen Hart… Tommy Rich all in action. We see a fun tag team match with Anderson and Flair with Ole at ringside really looking good as a team.

THE DANGER ZONE!

Paul E: I want to welcome in the WCW World Champion… Lex Luger and his opponent… I mean PARTNER… the number one contender for the WCW Champoionship… Sting. Gentlemen… you two are going to step into the ring with the Horsemen on February the 6th and with all due respect… the one questions I need to ask is this… to you… Lex Luger… why are you… AFRAID OF FACING THE GREAT MUTA!?!?

Lex: Listen Paul E… we knew this going into the interview… you had a whole agenda and it wasn’t what we discussed… you want to go into business for yourself… well pal you’ve got two guys who are not afraid of anyone… and we’re going to talk about what we want to talk about. I am standing here with my partner… my best friend… Sting…

Paul E: And your next challenger correct?

Lex: You see Paul E… I don’t view Sting as a challenger… (Sting confused look) No… no… what I mean… is that Sting is my friend… we’re together at the Clash and then when it comes time… we will enter the ring and have the match of a lifetime.

Paul E: And what is going to happen in that match Mr. Luger? What is going to happen at WrestleWar when you stand across the ring from your partner… from your friend… from the number one contender and CHALLENGER for your WCW Title??

Sting: Let me be the one to answer this one… Listen Paul E… you may want to go into business for yourself… but we know what it is all about… we’ve got our minds focused on the Clash and once that is done… we focus on WrestleWar. Right now… we’re one… and when it comes to it… it’s going to be one on one.

Lex: That’s right Sting… listen Paul E… we’re at the height of our careers… we could never accomplish more than what we’ve done right now! Never will our careers or accomplishments be more than this moment! (Sting looks confused)

Sting: What are you saying man… listen… we’re clear… first we get rid of the Horsemen and then it is me and you… we know that… now I don’t know about you but when it comes to accomplishments… accolades…goals… that belt right there is the height of my list… but I know that one thing has to happen before the other… but don’t think for a second that I can’t win that title… because that’s what I plan to do.

Lex: Sting… Sting…calm down man… this is what they want… they want us to break apart and not be together… we’ve got unity… I am the champ… we’ve got it all under control! Flair… Horsemen… we’re coming for you!

Paul E: Well there you have it… right here in the Danger Zone… Luger… the champion… Sting… the challenger… both of them not only afraid of the Horsemen but of the GREAT MUTA!

MAIN EVENT
Eight Main
Rockers & Road Warriors vs Samoans & Hughes & Rotundo is a really interesting eight-man…  let’s just say there are some STIFF tags between the Warriors and Rockers… the Samoans and the Hughes and Rotundo are working well together. We hear that Hughes and Rotundo are going to be known as the SEC… Securities and Enforcement Corp! Well, that name may not stick but we’ll see… This one ends up kind of interesting… Gary Hart gets involved outside the ring. Hawk gets tied up in the ropes. The Samoans double team him. Rotundo and Hughes throw the Rockers into the guardrails. They get back in the ring and it is a 4 on 1 on Animal… then the Rockers look at one another and … are they going to walk out… no… the run in the ring and hit a pair of superkicks! They unlocked Hawk. The Road Warriors then double clothesline the Samoans out of the ring to the floor. The referee makes the count out and the Road Warriors and Rockers are the winners… and then they shake hands… these guys are due for a clash but first they have title matches at the Clash so we’ll see what happens!

Clash of the Champions X “Texas Shootout” – Corpus Christi, TX – Memorial Coliseum – February 6, 1990

Welcome ladies and gentlemen to the CLASH OF THE CHAMPIONS!

Tony and Jesse bring us in to Corpus Christi - Jesse has got that ridiculous cowboy hat on while Tony is rocking the Bolo Tie. The crowd appears to be pretty hot as we hear the run down of what’s going to come down tonight… we’ve got all three tag titles on the line… the television championship… plus the pairings for the United States Championship Gauntlet that takes place next weekend… and of course the main event… Ric Flair and Arn Anderson taking on Sting and WCW Champion, Lex Luger! No better time than the present… let’s get it going right now with the WCW World Tag Team Championship!

The Road Warriors defeated the Samoans w/ Gary Hart in a hard fought tag team contest for the WCW World Tag Team Championship. Samu and Fatu were right there throughout the match and really bent every rule they could in order to gain the advantage. The Road Warriors had to fight back and they did. In the end… we saw a nasty piledriver on Fatu but he no sold it… only for Hawk to come flying off the top rope for the clothesline and then the 3-count!

The Diamond Studd, Scott Hall, won a singles match against Big Josh. A great showcase for Hall, who is Jesse’s words is going to be the man in this sport, no doubt about it. The Diamond Death Drop is enough to shake the ring and get the crowd pumped!

We go to a special angle where JJ Dillon is out with Gordon Solie… he is excited to announce the eight men who will go for the US title next weekend in the special gauntlet! We’ll see, the big man from Hawaii… Crush taking on Abdullah the Butcher! Flying Brian will compete against Michael Rotundo! The Wildfire Tommy Rich will take on The Berzerker! In the final match… we will see… former US Champion… Nikita Koloff… taking on STING!

Then we get a convoluted angle… Sting comes out to do an interview for the US title tournament and the tag match tonight. He and Gordon are talking in the ring but here come the Horsemen. Luger is nowhere to be found. The Horsemen are goating Sting who isn’t having it. He says he’s got his shot at the WCW Title at WrestleWar… the US title is going to be a cherry on top! He says that Nikita Koloff is going to feel the wrath of the Stinger just like the Horsemen are going to feel tonight. That’s when all hell breaks loose… The Horsemen attempt to go for Sting but he fights them back only for Nikita Koloff to come out of the crowd… Russian Chain around his arm… and he just DESTROYS Sting’s knee from behind! The Horsemen pounce and Flair has the figure four locked in out of nowhere! Officials and agents are down here… here comes Flyin Brian, Owen Hart… and now WCW Champion Lex Luger! The Horsemen roll back up the rampway… Nikita Koloff has vanished… Sting is in a bad way!

We’re back on the Clash and it is time for the US Tag Team Championship. Power and Glory w/ the help of Brother Love find a way to defeated Wahoo and Tatanka. Tatanka has got a lot of upside and Wahoo may be his best asset but his worst weight as he just can’t seem to keep up. We don’t get the powerplex… but we see Roma roll up Wahoo with a handful of tights and that’s all she wrote!

We get another simple showcase with Davey Boy Smith getting a big win over Cowboy Bill Irwin. It is short and sweet and Davey Boy looks good.

We then get another interview with Gordon Solie in the back… Sting is being carted off on a stretcher… Luger is shook… he has no clue what’s going on. We get word as JJ Dillon comes into the scene and says Sting will not be able to wrestle tonight!

We go back out to the ring for Sherri who is standing in the middle of the ring… she works the fans and then she announces that she has secured another Skyscraper… she announces…  standing 6’9”... Dangerous Danny Spivey… his partner… standing 7’ tall… from the Motor City… Big Kevin Nash! Here comes this huge man… he is taller than Spivey… he’s got a good look… they come down to the ring and beat the living hell out of two bloaks. Spivey does the work… Nash gets the shine. Nash hits an absolutely disgusting helicopter spin on one of these gets and sends him flying to the mat and then out of the ring! We get the double powerbomb and that is all she wrote. These two are big… they are bad… they are dangerous… they are the SKYSCRAPERS!

The Horsemen are with Bob Caudle and they are nothing but laughs… they put over the Main Event and how tonight… they have got rid of Sting… and next they will get rid of Luger and that will be the end… the title comes back to Flair just like that… but then we see Brian Pillman come into the scene… some friends are holding him back… he says he is coming out there to fight the Horsemen tonight!

WCW Television Championship - Ron Garvin vs Rick Martel © w/ Brother Love ends up being an interesting match. Garvin comes out, head taped up… but he pushes the referee away to fight and he and Martel go to work. This one isn’t much but some hard-hitting action and soon, Garvin’s tape comes off and Martel has busted open that nasty cut. Blood is starting to flow and the referee calls for the bell right away. We see a doctor run out to the ring and put a towel on his head and it is nasty. Martel is being held back by Brother Love but they’re all smiles… Garvin looks to be in a bad way… can he recover from this injury?

Lex Luger is in the back with Bob Caudle and he talks about the big tag match tonight… he puts over the Horsemen… he says Nikita is a coward for attacking Sting. Luger says he’ll go in there by himself if he needs to.

NWA Tag Titles - The Rockers defeated Mike Rotundo & Curtis Hughes in a pretty decent tag team match. The Rockers had control of this one from the beginning and held it all the way till the end. Rottundo and Hughes are decent enough but just something seems to be missing. In the end… a double superkick on Hughes is all she wrote and the Rockers walk out with the gold!

WrestleWar promo… with Sting vs Luger being advertised….what will happen there?

International Triple Crown Championship - The Z-Man vs The Great Muta w/ Paul E Dangerously - Another decent match… Zenk doesn’t have the skills to outdo Muta but he brings his A-game tonight. Muta hits his spots… the quick elbow drop… the spinning back elbow smash… Zenk fights back through and gives him everything. We then see Zenk set up a top rope dropkick but Muta moves… hits the ropes and SHINING WIZARD OUT OF NOWHERE! 1…2….3!!! Muta retains the gold but it is not the only title he wants…

Sting & Lex Luger vs Ric Flair & Arn Anderson w/ Ole Anderson is the advertised match… The Horsemen come out ready to take on the world… we hear from JJ Dillon that Sting cannot compete and he’s been taken to the hospital. Luger comes out and he has a nice ovation from the crowd… but he’s by himself… for a moment… here comes Flyin Brian!

Flyin Brian & Lex Luger versus Ric Flair & Arn Anderson w/ Ole Anderson is a good main event for the Clash. Flair and Luger is the real clash everyone wants to see. Pillman and Flair does light up the crowd though and everyone is going wild for it. Ole Anderson pops his head in and out when he can. Ole pops his head in once too often and Pillman with a suicide dive out of the ring taking him out! This sets up Flair and Arn to double up on Luger. The Total Package does fight back and he has got the crowd behind him. Luger hoists up Flair in the RACK and the crowd is going wild! Double A from behind and he chops the knee of Luger! Luger goes down and he’s in a bad way… Flair rolls him up with a clear handful of tights and the 3-count! The Horsemen have won it. Luger is now clutching his knee. Pillman looks like he’s ready for blood as the Horsemen retreat! We’ll see you for the Power Hour on Saturday!
