sek69 Posted March 3 Author Posted March 3 So Rhea and Jade were doing the usual "social media argument to build a match" deal on Twitter, and after Jade made several comments about Rhea spending time talking to the creative team (implying she is burying other folks) , Rhea seemed to drop kayfabe and start shooting. Chelsea and Piper Niven also chimed in as well, and while I suppose this could be some 4D chess "look at us working the marks like on Unreal" nonsense it sure seem like the rumored dislike of Jade back stage has boiled over.
sek69 Posted March 3 Author Posted March 3 So Dave is saying it's a weird thing where it's a work but what the people involved are saying about Jade are pretty much most folks' actual opinions of her. I suppose it's something different, but that's the kind of thing that tends to piss people off for real if you push too hard.
C.S. Posted March 3 Posted March 3 I like Jade and think the majority of the criticism against her (NOT HERE) is rooted in racism and misogyny, but man, she is fucking terrible at Twitter.
sek69 Posted March 4 Author Posted March 4 I'm sure there's that, probably with a dose of resentment that she's being pushed above her ability level due to her (admittedly amazing) look.
MikeCampbell Posted March 7 Posted March 7 Gunther and Dragon Lee put on a hell of a match on Monday night. Gunther won using the tried and true method of unmasking the tecnico to get him distracted. Well, Sean Ross Sapp posted a shot of Dragon Lee's face and social media fucking exploded as a result. There's two schools of thought here: 1. SRS is a prick who doesn't understand and/or respect lucha culture. 2. WWE were the people who decided to have him get unmasked on live TV with a camera front and center, if there's any outrage they're the ones who it should go to. I personally fall more into the second category, since we live in a day and age where a 12 year old could have gotten that exact same shot. I think it was a questionable decision by him to post the photo. But, at the end of the day, he doesn't have any sort of obligation to WWE or Dragon Lee.
sek69 Posted March 8 Author Posted March 8 Watching Vengance and I can't help but notice we started with Blake/Jada in a street fight, Tony D/Dion in a parking lot brawl turned into something not officially a street fight but pretty much one, and we still have an Underground match to come. Kind of kills the specialness of each match if they are all basically the same thing. Also Tony D with his hair down in this new gimmick looks like an Italian Andrade.
sek69 Posted March 8 Author Posted March 8 Another thing I noticed in NXT: Thea Hail got over (and accidentally shoot won the NA title), and they couldn't wait to beat her. Tatum Paxley got over, they couldn't wait to beat her. Jaida Parker got over, and....well you know. Did HBK sneak in Vince's office after the left and steal his booking guide?

How do you think the women's title situation plays out? I'm thinking that Fatal Influence helps Jacy retain on the 17th, and Stand and Deliver can be the big Sol/Zaria singles match. Easy enough to switch it after the fact if they do want to send Jacy up to the main roster.
sek69 Posted March 9 Author Posted March 9 They seem to really want to get Sol up there ASAP, so I wouldn't be surprised if the three way ends up a "loser leaves for the main roster" match.
sek69 Posted March 10 Author Posted March 10 For someone who's been so influential to the point she's widely considered a locker room leader, it's amazing Bayley has never had a finisher that wasn't shit.
sek69 Posted March 14 Author Posted March 14 So with WWE panic booking Mania this year, their big idea was to do a big heat angle where Randy murders Cody? Interesting. Even more so was Randy being cheered while doing it. One of two things seems to be going on here: 1. They know Cody's babyface act is starting to show its age a bit so this is their way to try to make sure he gets cheered at Mania. If so, they missed the mark based on tonight's reaction. 2. This is some kind of 4D chess big brain move to do a double turn, which I only suggest is a possibility due to them continuing to do Cody/Sami segments that all end with Cody being a dick to him. If they weren't being done to plant seeds of him turning, then they're just making their babyface champion look like an asshole.
The Thread Killer Posted March 14 Posted March 14 Could be wrong but I kind of get the feeling they are leading up to a double turn with Trick and Sami. They seem to be building to something between those two, and with the fans cheering Trick (and his Lemon Peppa Steppas) and Sami acting like he’s about to snap, having all these backstage tantrums, I figured that was the direction they were headed.
sek69 Posted March 14 Author Posted March 14 Yeah there's already reports out that they want to make Trick a babyface just because of how over he's gotten, which I think is a pretty smart decision.

I always figured that the big plan for Trick was a feud with Melo over the U.S. Title, since they've made a point of keeping them away from each other.
The Thread Killer Posted March 17 Posted March 17 I wasn’t expecting Samoa Joe to get name dropped on RAW during the main segment leading up to the Main Event of Wrestlemania…but there you have it.
sek69 Posted Saturday at 04:45 AM Author Posted Saturday at 04:45 AM So a week after violently (by WWE standards) murdering Cody, Orton is still getting massively cheered. They should roll with it and have Cody go full Homelander.
sek69 Posted Saturday at 05:30 AM Author Posted Saturday at 05:30 AM Say what you will, but Jelly Roll cut a hell of a promo in that backstage segment with Orton.

I don’t know what they’re trying to do with this angle, but if it is to make Orton unlikable to the fans…it’s not working. Cody is getting stale as a generic white meat “good guy” and for whatever reason the fans just don’t want to boo Orton. It doesn’t help that Orton’s big explanation for his attack was “I love Cody, but I want the title and I hear voices and oh yeah I really don’t like the fans anyway.” Orton and Rhodes are supposed to face off next week and I fear Cody is going to get booed out of the building. They clearly need to pivot here, but sadly the SmackDown creative team might be incapable of that. These are the same people who have brought us the “depressed Johnny Gargano” story and the never ending saga of the MFT stealing Bray Wyatt’s lantern. Their storytelling abilities don’t exactly fill me with confidence. I suspect Cody is getting thrown to the wolves next week.
sek69 Posted Saturday at 07:26 PM Author Posted Saturday at 07:26 PM I remember being in the crowd at the 2014 Rumble thinking I was about to be in the middle of a riot when Daniel Bryan was kept out and the crowd turned harder than I'd ever seen before. Smackdown's here next week so say your prayers for Cody.

I also remember when the years and years of Roman Reigns backlash could have potentially been avoided if they had pivoted then and there and let him eliminate Batista for the win.

I felt so bad when that happened, dude was just in the wrong place at the wrong time and got caught in the crossfire. Also them showing Logan Paul and Tom Brady obviously building for some kind of Mania deal at that flag football game on RAW just reminded me that when it was covered in the LA news it was them just like "yeah this is for some fake wresting shit".....and WWE has such a massive fetish for mainstream coverage they'll take it.
sek69 Posted 14 hours ago Author Posted 14 hours ago You know, there's a real good story to tell about Becky. Losing her mind about the return of the star the era she feels she had to clean up the mess of, feeling like all her effort just went down the toilet seeing how the crowd embraces the embodiment of an era she hates. And then there's whatever the hell this is. For one it's telling how they let Becky lean way more into the obvious Trump parody on social media, but on TV she comes off as "crazy person who gets arrested on an episode of Law & Order that leads them to the real bad guy of the episode". Like this is a match that practically books itself and they had to make it this cartoon villain shit.
sek69 Posted 13 hours ago Author Posted 13 hours ago Jevon is so great he got Corey to hit a soprano note in that match. He's really reminding me of ECW Rey Misterio, this tiny young man doing things I have never seen before.
Timbo Slice Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago Oba Femi eviscerating Brock is satisfying on multiple levels.
