LowBlowPodcast Posted August 18 Report Posted August 18 SummerSlam delivers.... Tito opens it with a big win... Ronin is an awesome name for Sasaki and Hase.... Gang vs Brown is all it was meant to be.... I love the Golden Warrior name but am surprised Jake didn't pull this one out... Funk over Rhodes... again... didn't see this one going this way but good surprise. Hacksaw beats Dino.... love it... and then the actual cage match from Summerslam 1990 was good and it fits here... great stuff top to bottom - I think that the WWF is headed in the right direction.
spaldoni Posted August 19 Report Posted August 19 SummerSlam! Here we go! I'm sure after watching P&G vs. The Fantastics the WWF got in some last minute buys. The picture of Fenway and Paula Abdul gives this a big time feel. Vader kicks things off in dramatic fashion with his devastating powerbomb! The Rougeaus unify the titles and man the heat is coming. Looks like trouble ahead for the Commonwealth. Tito gets an awesome visual. Great way to put a stamp on Berzerker. Ronin is such a badass name. I knew you had something big in store for Sasaki and Hase and man did you deliver. Slick's one lucky man. OMG takes advantage and plants Brown to get the huge win. This really sets up OMG as serious threat Speaking of huge wins. King Kevin not only gets the win but puts Jake down with the claw! Damn! Funk really got the best of Dusty. After winning this feud, I hope Funk goes after the world title Duggan wins the IC title!!! HOOOOOOOOOOO!! The cage match goes down like IRL and like Lowblow said, it totally works here. Warrior has a lot of solid challengers to work with like Vader, OMG and Funk. Great job!
Control21 Posted August 20 Report Posted August 20 Summerslam delivered as expected. The Rougeau Brothers beating The Commonwealth is a bit of an upset for me, but that match still sounded really solid! I was also impressed with Kevin Von Erich getting the win over Jake Roberts. The One Man Gang also came across as a huge threat after dispatching Bad News Brown with ease. Terry Funk also taught Dusty Rhodes a lesson, and I'm sure Dusty won't go away quietly. Looking forward to what comes next!
Autistic Dragon Posted August 21 Author Report Posted August 21 Tonight's episode of WWF Prime Time is dedicated to recapping the events of SummerSlam. Major stories shown tonight include. Rick Rude and Bobby Heenan are announced to have departed the WWF in protest to the outcome of the SummerSlam main event. Monsoon questions the status of the rest of the Heenan Family but Ventura says Heenan told him a plan was in place and it will become apparent in the coming weeks. Terry Funk, covered in bandages from his Texas Death Match, says he put that mangy, yellow dog Rhodes down for good and now he can focus on "rescuing the WWF Championship from that face painted freaks how and get it around the waist of a real wrestler!" Hacksaw dedicated his IC title win to all red blooded Americans. HOOOOOOOOOO! The Ronin give a promo that is accompanied by subtitles. They say that the WWF is where the best in the world come to prove themselves and they aim to prove that no their country produces warriors like Japan. One Man Gang and Slick say they sent Bad news Brown back to the gutter where Slick found him.
spaldoni Posted August 22 Report Posted August 22 Nice recap. I really like the direction the WWF is going Keep up the great work
kevinmcfl Posted August 29 Report Posted August 29 Sorry for falling behind again... I really enjoyed Summerslam! Great job as this offered so much to for the fans. I think that major events need some angles to end, some to continue and some to start. I think you delivered on all three. Look at the Intercontinetal Tag Team Title match... the feud with the Rougeaus Brothers and the Commenwealth ended with a new title and it looks like the Commonwealth are now at odds with each other. Great booking and story line. New... lets see what the Ronin can do.... Wonder if we will see more of Gang and Brown as Brown seems upset at Slick. Always love a Rhode/Funk match I do wonder if Jake "the Snake" can recover from such a clean defeat. To be left knocked out from the claw might mean the end of his time in the WWF or else he would need a serious rebuilt. I also like to use of the video for the title match. While we enjoy this hobby, sometimes it is better left to the professionals!
ErictheDragon Posted Friday at 10:19 PM Report Posted Friday at 10:19 PM Hey guys AD here. So I got myself locked out of my previous Google account meaning I lost all my social media accounts that were tied to it. Thankfully Low Blow helped me get my new account activated quickly and Kev has agreed I can pick up here where I left off. I know I'm a good bit behind so..... Recap of the major stores in the WWF. An Outlaw on the hunt for gold. In the wake of his monumental victory at SummerSlam, Terry Funk wasted no time declaring his intentions to go after the WWF Championship. The Ultimate Warrior, true to form, vows to run from no challenger including "the self-styled bandit king". Funk, also true to form, has sent his Outlaws to harass the Warrior who has fought them off so far. With tensions building, WWF President Jack Tunney has intervened and declared that Terry Funk will get his shot at the WWF Championship when the WWF returns to Madison Square Garden on September 21st. A Family Divided? Following his defeat at SummerSlam, Rick Rude announced his departure from the World Wrestling Federation. While this was a huge announcement in and of itself, the news that Bobby Heenan would be following him was absolutely earthshaking. Speculation began immediately over the fate of the other Heenan Family members. We got our first answer on an episode of RAW when Mr Fuji revealed he had purchased the contract of The Berzerker The Powers of Pain have continued their winning ways on their own though some observers have noted they appear to be missing a certain something in the absence of their manager. Haku has been disconcertingly quiet since Heenan's departure and many are waiting nervously to see where the man many consider to be the WWF's most dangerous ends up. Every Queen needs a King. Many are wondering who if anyone will be able to fill the vacuum left in Bobby Heenan's departure. Someone who's determined to try is Sherri Martel. While Sherri is off to a strong start in the WWF with Power & Glory establishing themselves in the tag ranks, Sherri's ambitions clearly go further as she's vowed to make herself the Queen of the WWF. In that vain she has repeatedly approached the reigning King of the Ring Kevin Von Erich. Kevin has politely declined her each time but Sherri isn't giving up saying she'll get her King....one way or another.
rainmakerrtv Posted Saturday at 12:04 AM Report Posted Saturday at 12:04 AM So glad to have you back EtD. Can't wait to see where Sherri's obsessions take her.
spaldoni Posted Saturday at 02:26 AM Report Posted Saturday at 02:26 AM Man, it's really great to have you back! A lot of great stuff going on in the WWF. Warrior vs. Funk will tear the Garden down Heenan leaving did come as a shock but it looks like it's open some doors for others to shine. Love the angle with Queen Sherri and King Kevin. Can't wait to see where this goes. Welcome back brother!
ErictheDragon Posted 11 hours ago Report Posted 11 hours ago WWF Live @ Madison Square Garden NYC 9/21/90 Airing live on the MSG Netowrk. On commentary: Jesse "The Body" Ventura & Vince McMahon The debuting Tatanka defeats "Bad Man" Brad Boone with a swinging sideslam. Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka defeats The iron Sheik with the "Superfly Splash"/ Power & Glory (Paul Roma & Hercules Hernandez) w/"Sensational" Sherri Martel defeat The American Eagles (Liberty & Justice) with the "Power-plex". Ranger Ross defeats "Russian Giant" Nikolai Volkoff w/Borsi Zhukov after Zhukov accidentally tripped Volkoff. The two Russians argued after the match until the ref seemed to break it up. It looked like cooler heads would prevail as Volkoff turned to leave only for Zhukov to hit him from behind with the Soviet flag! Zhukov got a few more shots in before security hit the ring causing him to back off. The Northern Invasion (Dino BRavo & Earthquake) w/"Le Commandant" Frenchy Martin defeat WWF Intercontinental Champion "Hacksaw' Jim Duggan & Tugboat when Earthquake pinned Tugboat with the "Earthquake splash" while Bravo & Duggan brawled in the aisle. King's Court mach. "The Golden Warrior" Kevin Von Erich(k) defeats One Man Gang w/"The Doctor of Style" Slick after avoiding a splash in the corner calling him to trip OMG and perform a jackknife pin. Sherri got in the ring as Kevin was getting his hand raised and took the house mic saying she was giving Kev one last chance to see reason and make her the Queen she was born to be. Kevin again declined politely at which point Sherri said that was alright because she didn't need him, just the crown. Confused murmers filled MSG until HAKU emerged from the crowd and attacked Kevin from behind. A violent beat down ensued and while a few brave security guards tried to come to Kevin's aid you can be sure they got there's from a rampaging Haku. Finally the Tongan Death Grip is applied and while Kev struggles he eventually passes out. Officials have to plead with Sherri to get her to tell Haku to let Kev go. Sherri raises Haku's hand and can be heard shouting "Long live the true king!" WWF Tag Team Chamionship. The Ronin (Hiroshi Hase * Kensuju Sasaki)(c) defeat The Powers of Pain (Barbarian & Warlord) after pinning Barbarian with "Seppuku" (Dragon suplex/lariat combo). Warlord who was on the outside gets in the ring and stands over the fallen Barbarian for a bit before walking away leaving his fallen partner behind. Main Event. WWF Chamionship. Terry Funk defeats The Ultimate Warrior(c) after Manny Fernandez ran down after a ref bump and tried to hit Warrior with the title belt. Warrior ducked and knocked the belt from his hands before knocking Fernandez himself from the ring. As Warriro posed for the crown Funk regrouped enough to hit a low blow before hitting his patented Pildriver on the WWF Championship! Funk tosses the belt from the ring as Hebner recovers. A agonizingly slow three count later and the King of the Outlaws is the King of the WWF.
kevinmcfl Posted 9 hours ago Report Posted 9 hours ago WOW... awesome card. Interested in the whole Russian vs Russian thing. I think Sherri had an idea Kevin would say know.... wow... Haku! Funk as the champion!!! Love it.
