LastStopTour Posted Friday at 12:07 PM Posted Friday at 12:07 PM Eastern Championship Wrestling presents: from The Original Sports Bar Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Thursday, October 8th, 1991 Announcers: Jay Sully, Stevie Wonderful Referee: Joe Zanolle The dingy Original Sports Bar is the venue for Eastern Championship Wrestling’s first show. Little by way of advertising on short notice minus the poorly printed handbills, the house crowd is packed in and as expected, where the beer is pouring, it is loud and rowdy. Our hosts introduce referee Joe Zanolle who looks more like a gas station attendant in a monkey suit with a bow tie than a wrestling referee. Jay Sully and Stevie Wonderful settle into their positions to announce the show. The first match is an athletic affair with JT Smith beating CN Redd via a moonsault following a healthy dose of technical wrestling. Smith knows his way around a ring and Redd is no slouch either in this highly contested match that sees both men shake hands afterwards. Next up is a very different look with the Kodiak Bear and his turban wearing manager, the Cosmic Commander who roughs up his opponent here, Bobby Starr. Kodiak is a brawler, beating up on Starr inside and outside of the ring. This match shows how ECW is different with allowing wrestlers to battle it outside the ring and no disqualifications for tossing someone over the top rope or using weapons. Tag team action follows with the “Godfather of Pain” Damien Kane and “American Nightmare” Glen Osborne taking on Hack Myers and Chad Austin. Kane goes on a lengthy rant which is booed or used as a bathroom break. Austin is beaten like a red headed stepchild while Myers helps keep his team in the match before he is busted open. Austin is spiked on his head and pinned. After the match, Kane goes on another rant about wanting the Batten Twins and their tag team belts. A small break in the action as Tod Gordon comes out to address the bar patrons and thank them for their patronage. Of course, this goes over like a Leave it to Jimmy Valiant to save the day for Tod Gordon. Jimmy talks about being here in ECW and his usual “Street People” talk before he brings out … BIG Mama! Okay, with this group of drunks, it is probably Big Mama and her "assets" that save the day as well as happen to be the lead in for chants for her to "show them". A quick speech from Jimmy and Big Mama shaking her "groove thing" before we get back to the show! Jimmy and Big Mama head to the ring when the Dundees came out. Jamie Dundee, Don E. Dundee, Chubby Dundee and Sign Guy Dundee surround the ring while Jamie talks about the Dundees NOT being invited to the party. Jimmy motions for them to join him in the ring before Jamie sends in Don E. and we get the bell for our Main Event! It is the usual Jimmy Valiant "grab-ass" tactics to start but once the Philly faithful tire of it and let him know, it is down to brass tacks for the ring vet. A good back and forth match as Don E. with help from his friends shows that he could be a threat but Jimmy comes back each time, ready to let fly with the fists. Big Mama plays a part as well, serving as a distraction pulling in Don E, who gets a little too close, for a "motorboating" which in turn leads to a right cross, a couple of elbow drops after a body slam from Jimmy and a three count for the win. Cheers and catcalls after the match as the celebratory Jimmy and Big Mama head to the back while the Dundees complain to the referee who isn’t listening. The fans boo the Dundees and that is all she wrote to end the show.
Control21 Posted Friday at 10:07 PM Posted Friday at 10:07 PM Excited to see how your new territory plays out. I know you like to spread your wings a bit and move on after a while, but it would be interesting to see you develop this promotion from "Eastern Championship Wrestling" to "Extreme Championship Wrestling" over the next few years, if that's your taste.
LastStopTour Posted Friday at 10:42 PM Author Posted Friday at 10:42 PM We will see what I can do with this character-wise, competing with ecw West. We already have the first of the fill-ins with the Dundees. Who will be next?
ErictheDragon Posted yesterday at 12:04 AM Posted yesterday at 12:04 AM The wrestling nomad has found a new spot to settle down in. Hmm, I don't know if Philly is full of the kind of people Jimbo likes to groove with. Luckily Big Mama is there to help him win over the locals.
LastStopTour Posted yesterday at 12:17 AM Author Posted yesterday at 12:17 AM Valiant is my Muraco/Snuka stand-in. Doesn't have to be there long but is a known name to get them "over the hump" and Big Mama is "an asset" that most red blooded males like.

That is the plan at least.

Dundee, CN Redd, Tony Stetson, Glen Osborne, Bobby Starr, Chad Austin and Rich Myers, pinning Tony Stetson to win the Battle Royale. Larry Winters was nowhere to be found with the winner’s money when the match was over! - Surf’s Up (Pondo & Ray Odyssey) beat the Cosmic Commander’s team of The Kodiak Bear and Crybaby Waldo in handy fashion. When it was over, The Kodiak and Waldo got into a shoving match that saw CC roughed up when he tried to step in between them. - The Cheetah Kid won over Jonathan Rotten which saw the masked man take to the air against the mat wrestling Rotten who complained to the referee quite often about Cheetah’s style. -Chris Champion, though outmatched by Hack Myers for much of the match was able to pull out the victory when his superkick caught Myers on the kisser. - Ring veteran Omar Atlas was a suplex highlight reel against The Dundees as he beat Chubby Dudley in a match, then dumped Jamie, Don E. and Sign Guy Dundee all on their heads when they attacked him after the match. The Original Sheik, Damien Kane and Jimmy Valiant with Big Mama battled to a time limit draw in a brutal and bloody battle that saw them fight and bleed all over the Field House. When all said and done, referee Jim Molineaux and the white clad Big Mama were both covered in blood.
