  1. I don't know. Clothing can be really deceptive. It's too bad we couldn't get a shirtless shot so we could compare before and after pictures. Speaking of roids -- I have a noticed a few people who lost some muscle but I heard Meltzer? say that nobody in the dressing room has been hearing too much about the drug testing in the last while so they're going back on again.
  2. The date says it's from April of 2003 which is not the match Rudo's looking for (12/04). The match from 2003 off the top of my head is when Cena wins the US Title (I think it was the title; either that or it was the #1 contender spot) in a tournament.
  3. I am really enjoying all the different viewpoints on wrestlers and wrestling matches lately in terms of quality. There are not as many matches these day where a match is definitely 2 stars or definitely 4 stars with little leeway. There is more leeway today than a few years ago and I love it because there never has been and never should be a mathamatical formula to figure out how good or bad a wrestling match is. There are too many variables combined with too many feelings on what belongs in a wrestling ring to be able to do that. Though some people have really made me scratch my head lately. But I enjoy it.
  4. It's the suit. The suit Lyger wears is a detrimental one as far as showing your physique off. Lyger is built underneath the clothing. I've never seen this match so I can't comment on it. I'm pretty sure they use one Yamada's in ring flying space tiger drop (I do not know what you call that) from this match for the starting and ending of the Stampede show though.
  5. I know the Rockers are great but this one surprised me too when I watched it. The Rockers when they wanted to could have a good match with almost anyone. In my opinion Michaels was actually better as a tag team wrestler back in the day than he was in singles. WP -- On the Babarian bandwagon since 89 though I almost jumped off after he dropped Benoit on his head in 96 and from what I hear legit injured him. Since I'm making a comp today for someone else I've been watching a few matches: Benoit vs Eddie Guerrero Nitro -- Benoit's WCW redebut Great stuff but Eddie being gone hit me hard here. Eddie and Benoit are so much better against each other when they don't have to wrestle the WWE style. Now I don't think the WWE style is nearly as bad as people make it out to be but it's just criminal watching this and realising that a lot of this match would be banned from the eyes of the WWE's fans. Let Benoit do a full nelson suplex you bleeping f'n bleeping bleepers. Sabu vs Lightning Kid NWA 93 -- This was pretty good. Full of highflying moves but the best part of the match was actually the commentary as their excitement in their voices was contagious Bret Hart vs Bam Bam Bigelow -- So I was looking through tapes and came across a best of 93 tape that I had lost for awhile. So yeah, I got distracted (see Sabu vs Lightning Kid) and eventually stopped on this handheld match. I have no idea where it occured at. Really good match with a beginning that laid out some fundamental groundwork. Bigelow's more powerful and dangerous but Bret's more crafty and quicker. Really nice transistion here to offence as Bret tries a Lou Thez press! from the ring apron to the open arms of Bam Bam Bigelow who than solidifies his status as a heel by ramming Bret's back into the ringpost. Of course Bret's back is now hurt and Bam Bam starts to work over it. It's a little slow here but it's hard to judge because the footage suddenly cuts into Bret's comeback. There's a real nice near fall here where Bret tries a suplex but his back is not strong enough for that and Bam Bam counters into a lateral press. A good ending stretch overall and we find ourselves a very good match overall Regal vs Benoit WCW PRO 12/95 -- Pro matches never last that long but this one got a little bit of time and Benoit and Regal take advantage of it with their typical greatness. The scary thing about this is that Benoit and Regal do a long running pinning sequence that I've only ever seen 1 time again. That was in a Jamie Knoble match. Is he that big a fan? Now the American Males are on and Bagwell's going through two tables. The Ringmaster vs Matt Hardy!
  6. I really like Whalen since at times he's a straight shooter (on TV to boot!), is byist towards the lightheavyweights/Benoit and I love a good portion of his on air personality but I know that while he connects with a lot of people he doesn't connect with a lot of others. Edit -- Apparantly like Goodhelmet and Brian who are on opposite sides of the fence. WP -- Who would not have been able to cheer for Benoit if he turned heel in Stampede because of the devestation it would cause to Ed Whalen. Think about that for a sec. Me not being able to cheer Benoit. I really liked his conviction to his ethics of cheering the good guys and detesting the bad guys antics except for of course his love for Bad News Brown even when he was a heel. Man, I get a kick out of that.

  8. I love ring entrances. Not the way WWE does them now but a few different styles others have used. Great music, a charasmatic wrestler, cheering fans and a wrestler having to push his way through a sandwhiched crowd rules all.l I also love long New Japan style ramp style entrances. They have the epic feel. I'm not a wrestler but I do love the feeling you get from having a shoot match, a crowd cheering you or from practising moves. I love the adrenaline you get from it. It's addicting. I love watching the Dynamite Kid wrestle in Stampede. I love his kneedrops. I love the Stan Hanson lariat video that was posted on deathvalley driver. Nothing but lariats and lariats and lariats and lariats. Hiiiii! I love the ring passion exhibited by top notch wrestlers in the ring. This is the main reason why I like wrestling. I can watch Benoit vs Austin or the Owen/Basserb vs Viet Cong express tags and just feel the passion emenating from the TV screen. I love the rush feeling that in turn gives me. I love getting caught up in the action and drama so much that it overtakes you. I love it when for example like in Benoit vs Austin I see everyone around me get completely sucked into it. I love the athletic prowess and dedication it takes to do this. I love seeing people take themselves to the limit and beyond. I love how wrestlers love this so much that they'll work through injuries and whatever else to do it. I love the survival aspect to it. I get motivated from that. I love how natural Marc Rocco looks in the wrestling ring I love the Macho Man kicking out of the Ultimate Warrior's finisher at Wrestlemania I loved how everyone of these matches put goosebumps on my arms. Some of them had me jumping out of my seat or tears starting to form around the eyes. Aja Kong vs Megumi Kudo title fight Sakie Hasegawa vs Toshiyo Yamada Dynamite Kid vs Tiger Mask 4/83 Benoit vs Austin from Edmonton Dynamite Kid vs Cobra Junior Finals Bret Hart vs Dibiase -- Survivor Series 90 Ozaki/Fukuoka vs T.Inoue/Hotta 12/92 I love the bigger than life aspect to wrestling.
  9. One thing I heard Styles had to do was focus more and more on the signature spots of a wrestler. Also, that he had to talk more about storylines instead of calling moves. Anyone hear anything like that? Is that true?

  13. Did you see the MSG match that I sent to you yet Loss? It'd be interesting to see what the best of the lot is. So there are 4 of these matches from what I gather. The one you just watched, the commercial release, the handheld from MSG and I once saw someone selling an international match between the two.

  20. THe thing is once someone takes an inch they think they can take a mile. I imagine everyone knows examples of this themselves. That's what you have to watch out for.
  21. E: "Why do they call it a wedgie?" G: "Because the underwear is pulled up from the back until... it wedges in." J: "They also have an Atomic Wedgie. Now the goal there is to actually get the waistband on top of the head. It's very rare." E: "Boys are sick." G: "What do girls do?" E: "We just tease someone until they develop an eating disorder." I recognise that... Where's it from? Seinfeld.
