  1. Benoit/Idol vs Commandoes 8/25/88 This is stronger than the 9/16 Texas Tornado match and is a definite strong nomination. I'm not too sure I should nominate the Tornado match anymore. It's a lot of fun but we can only have the best matches in.
  2. Do you think we should invite hardcore knowledgable people for the sole purpose of nominating? Just in case we miss something? Rob Edwards for example would be of great help for the Joshi puroresu section.
  3. Yes! You're only the second person I've ever known who likes the MLG match better than the Mania match. I think I must've watched this bout about 13 times over the years as its replay value is incredible. I rated this very high in my top 100 list. I gather you liked the Savage vs Steamboat matches. The cool thing if I remember right about the 2nd match is that it's really Savage who takes most of the punishment but the match still manages to do a great job of making you root for Santana and never feeling sympthany for Savage. I remember loving this match. From what I read of your reviews Loss I see that you have more diversified opions than the average fan. One never exactly know what Loss will think of a match. That makes your reviews interesting.
  4. Leave Benoit. Just leave. That's all I got to say.
  5. Dynamite Kid. Benoit and Lyger are on the first tier. Interestingly they are 3 of the top 5 juniors ever in the eyes of the Japanese fans. Ohtani, Rey, Takada, Cobra, Koboyashi, Dragon, Samurai and Mask are on the next level.
  6. Hart gave credit to Konnan for showing him how to do the hold in a newspaper column before. He did know of the hold previously however. He just wanted a course on how to apply the hold so it's certainly possible that he can give credit to different people and be right on both accounts. And is the Bret Hart vs Hakushi match really from In Your House or is that a mistake? Because I know Bret always prefered the Raw match between the two.
  7. This is one of my fav promos ever. The part I quoted is something that I've always remembered because it is so very, very true. Though you are grateful for the pain allowing you to see things you're also cursing it upside down every second of the day. Anderson's interviews just felt real. Moreso than almost anyone. Arn had another great interview one time about Benoit and Woman on one of the syndicated WCW shows where he went on talking about family. I remember Anderson's words just having that realness touch to them. The WCW vs NWO angle was totally riveting. Every week everyone was glued to the sets wondering what was going to happen next.
  8. What is your favorite singles match? Impossible to answer which is a good thing. So I'll just nominate a random favourite. Kobashi vs Misawa from 1/20/97. Kobashi lariats a jumping Misawa from off of the ropes and I am in absolute love with this bout. - What is your favorite tag team (2 teams of 2) match? Right now it's the 2 Owen Hart/Ben Basserb vs Viet Cong Express matches that I've seen. Two teams fighting with all their fighting spirit who know they're putting on something special and they just revel in it. Ben Basserb especially is great at showing this during the two bouts. If I made a top 10 list of the matches that I feel the most passion from this'd be extreamly high - What is your favorite multi-person (2 teams of 3 or more on each side) match? Thunderqueen followed by War Games What is your favorite type of wrestling? Well, I like a lot of stuff with the exception of a few styles. This is something I've been thinking about a lot lately. What is the ultimate style of wrestling? For people in general? For me? How would I modify stlyles to make my ultimate style? Stampede, All Japan Pro Wrestling from the 90s, shootstyle, AJW and JWP. Otheres too. I can't decide. - What is your favorite angle of all time? Bret Hart and Canada vs the world. Benoit vs Booker where Benoit refuses to win match 7. - Who is a wrestler you found to like because of the internet? Good question. Adrion Adonis. - WCW or WWF 1996-1998? WCW - Do you like Lucha Libre? Why? Oh yeah. There's a lot of great wrestling there and it all feels different. It's like another world. - If you could book a "Super Show" card with 3 matches with a guarantee to draw a huge crowd and maintain monster heat the whole night, what would it be? I assume we can't fantasy book here. Ah screw it, I will. Dynamite vs Tiger Mask Hulk Hogan vs Steve Austin Kenta Kobashi vs Andre the Giant
  9. Lanny Poffo used to wrestle in World Grand Prix but I can't really remember that far back. My father and a worker I used to work with are fans of him and know him from there. It'd be interesting to see his work from there.
  10. STAMPEDE 1979 to probably sometime when DK turned face though I'm not quite sure Yes, it's clipped like anything and there's not much footage of it but I don't think there's anything I enjoy watching more and it's almost all because of one man. The Dynamite Kid. Heel Dynamite in Stampede was amazing on so many levels. Wrestling never feels more real to me than when DK is in there. The passion and the innovation were unmatched. Than you had the rest of the cast along with all the imports they'd bring in. Some of the roughest wrestling you'll ever see but not stiff in the normal way we think of stiffness. It didn't come off as contrived stiffness. It just felt like what wrestling would be like if two tough Canadian wrestlers used to the agonising cold and windshield would happan to wrestle. AJW/JWP 90s The charactors, the wrestling, the emotion, the intensity, the moveset. AJPW 90s What more needs to be said? Really a lot of it comes off as long grueling boxing fights except it's done wresting style. That's what I love. Kobashi vs Misawa 1/20/97. That's enough reason there. Kobashi was the guy who got me interested in AJPW. You could just feel the passion emenating from his presence on the screen into the living room. It was contagious and I have never looked back NJPW Early 1980s to 1997 thereabouts I can't pinpoint a time here where I enjoyed the product the most. The junior division was almost always strong wether it was Fujinami, DK, Tiger Mask, Cobra, Koboyashi, Takada, Hase, Owen, Yamada/Lyger, Sano, Pegasus Kid or Ohtani. Watching the history of the New Japan junior heavys is pure awesomeness. WCW Late 95 to 97 thereabouts When everything seemed to be going "right". The angles were entertaining and the wrestling in the undercard was so much fun with all the junior action WWF -- The time when Bret Hart was on top and feuding with Austin and Michaels. Bret was so the man.
  11. Favourite wrestler currently is Benoit. Nobody's really that close either. I'm forever a mark for intensity. Kobashi is 2nd KENTA, Rey, Eddie, Benjamin and Angle fill out the rest. Regal would be here if they used him properly.
  12. The puro elitism thing is true but it's not as strong as it used to be. Some of them have realised what they were and have actually mellowed. Discussion has lessened as well. I could name about 10 people in this category but won't because I'm a nice guy and I don't have time for arguements with them. I argued with some of the elitists over at TSM back in its elitism heyday. I even created a couple of threads where I mixed up my real thoughts with some fake thoughts just to get a reaction. I was mad at what one of the elitists had said to a poster on another board so I just made up a thread to tick him off halfway curious on how long it'd take me to get a response. Let me say, it didn't take too long which if I remember correctly was a trademark of several of the elitists. I've argued with other elitists on other boards as well mostly for being completely honest with my wrestling opinions. Opinions that have taken a lot of heat because a lot of my opinions are signifigantly different than the practically "set in stone" non debatable opinion of the elitists. They're not capable of thinking that a match can be better to another person than it is to themselves. Even if the arguement against them is well presented. People that have insulted me several times just because of my wrestling opinions. Of course, on the other side of the coin lots of people don't fall in this category.
  13. Benoit vs Villano III UWA Mexico Mask vs Mask 11/3/91 Benoit vs Villano IV UWA 9/26/92 for the WWF lightheavyweight title
  14. I just copied and pasted your list and took a match off whenever I found it on my list. I came up with Savage vs Bad News and Roberts vs Dibiase.
  15. Curse it all. I'm missing two matches here and I don't know what they are. 16. I feel strongly on every one of those matches and I know others do on several of them as well. I don't see where the mediocricity word is coming from and I'm someone who's watched more wrestling than almost anyone. I have read a few of your posts before and noted that I've got differing views so maybe that's where the difference of opinion is coming from. All are very high on my deathvalley list. There were matches that were mediocre on the deathvalley list but these weren't the ones.
  17. Dynamite Kid vs Marty Jones WOS -- Match off of the Dynamite Kid Wrestling Channel Special from the UK. I'm looking on Barnett's page and I see there isn't a date for this.
  18. So how many people are going to take part in this? Raise your hands. Myself, I plan on doing so.
  19. Horner and Howeritz had a better match against each which indeed did have more time. It was on deathvalley a few months ago. Don't know much besides that though.
  20. I've seen everything now. I tried typing out my list to deathvalley via e-mail last night but the computer screwed up and I lost my whole list so now I'm going to have to type the whole thing out again. Adonis vs Backland from 1/82 ended up being my favourite. JBA vs the Glamour Girls was second and Dynamite vs Bret was 3rd. The Macho Man stole the show for me as a lot of his matches truly felt special. Moreso than the rest of the wrestlers on the card. The big match feel is what I'm trying to say. I loved the matches against Santana, Hogan (Mania) and Steamboat from Maple Leaf Gardens. For some reason just like when I was 13 years old the Mania match didn't hit home for me. Still good though. I didn't like the MSG Boot Camp match as much as others especially after watching their previous match at MSG which I liked more since I thought the Sarge was in more trouble. Still very good though. Escape rules for cages generally suck. Can not figure out why deathvalley are going bonkers over Valentine vs Garvin. Good bout but I don't see where the epicness is coming from. I do remember really liking their submission match back in the day though so I'd like to go back and see that. The Islanders vs Strike Force was done to total forumula perfection for the WWF tag style at the time. Great match and I hope it ranks up high when it's all said and done. Steamboat vs Valentine rocked. Garvin vs Mr. Perfect from 12/89 was worked as well as any match on the discs. It just won't get to the top because it wasn't worked as an epic contest. The Rougeau Brothers theme music is terrific. Too many matches were on the discs that shouldn't have been on there. Andre vs Kahn is underrated Steamboat vs Roberts from Boston was easily the best of their series of matches on the disc. Lots of fun, interesting work that keeps you intrigued.

  23. The way they promoted it on Smackdown would seem to indicate it's not a 6 man tag. They hyped it up as a secret nn the show. Why would you not want ot announce a 6 man tag? They basically gave a vibe that something big's gonna happen and a 6 man tag is the most boring announcement you could possibly make. The thing is thhough are they goinna allow Smackdown to steal the show on Raw?

  25. I've been told that it will sill air on the international Velocity show so hopefully there'll be a few people taping that.
