  1. Having seen that documentary they just did about Wyatt (which was a heartbreaker, by the way) I can totally understand why they might try and form a new stable with Uncle Howdy, Alexa Bliss, Rowan and even Stroman. It was obvious from that documentary that they had big plans to advance this whole thing into a major angle that was only scrapped due to the death of Bray Wyatt. And Bo Dallas was clearly already planned to be a big part of it. I don’t view this as them trying to make something out of nothing, just to exploit Wyatt. I look at it more as them trying to salvage what was ruined with his untimely death. I would hope that (as odd as it sounds) they intend to make this group babyfaces because I can’t see the fans not cheering it, out of sentimentality if not anything else. That documentary also reminded me how crazy over Wyatt was at the time of his death. I am also not sure it’s a good idea either, but I’m willing to see where it goes before automatically deciding that I don’t like it.
  2. The building normally seats 13,500. The last time AEW ran the building, they drew 4,168. This time they had it set up for 3,312 (they had the “hard camera” side blocked off with no fans at all) but they still only drew 2,971. Tonight, they were basically trying to just sell floor seats, and the lower level on one side of the building, and they still couldn’t do it.
  3. They have less than 3,000 fans in a building that seats 13,500. Even if the fans were hot (which they really don’t seem to be) it would probably still sound dead in there. And this show really isn’t giving them anything to cheer about, either.
  4. This crowd SUCKS, by the way. This is like late era Thunder
  5. That was presented to him by Muhammad Ali’s Widow at the HOF. It is the official title of “The People’s Champ” which is a moniker that The Rock “took” from Ali in 1998 (with permission.)
  6. That was a lot of fun.
  7. For what it’s worth, apparently the ring is heated. It is supposedly a special ring they purchased that is heated specifically for outdoor events like this. That doesn’t mean the fans and announcers aren’t freezing, of course.
  8. So Kofi sees a guy spinning a ladder around his head, and his plan is to run directly into it, face first. Oookay.
  9. Agreed. You can do whatever you want with Gargano, but you can’t make him interesting.
  10. Finn Balor looks like he’s been kidnapped and his captors put a bag over his head.
  11. I loved Punk on the pre-show panel talking about how weird it was to be talking without someone screaming in his ear.
  12. I was thinking the exact same thing. I think he leaned over too far after the double clothesline on the Creeds, it looked like he fell out of the ring!
  13. Great speech by Paul E., no surprise.
  14. Delivering speeches in front of a live Philadelphia crowd must be a total nightmare. I really wish this was still a banquet type deal instead of in front of a bunch of mouth breathers.
  15. Keith Lee just ended up on camera at the HOF. I wonder how that will go over with Tony. I know for VKM, that was a firing offence.
  16. You must be a barrel of laughs when you go to parties.
  17. I was going to say…not hard to figure out the colour scheme if you know anything American football. The minute I saw the colours I thought “Okay, they’re playing in the Eagles stadium so they’re using their colours. Makes sense.”
  18. Not surprised about Drew Gulak. His brother Rory was a notorious sex pest who got blackballed from the industry. I guess it runs in the family.
  19. Especially when your hiring strategy seems to be signing every wrestler who ever lived.
  20. Hey @KawadaSmile did you (or anybody else I guess) see the A&E Biography Special on Roman Reigns that aired tonight? I thought it was pretty good. It was produced and directed by Paul Heyman, and I found it a bit weird that part of the show was pretty much sticking to “Kayfabe” if such a thing is even possible anymore. Parts of it were definitely done in character. But it was still really good, especially if you are a Roman Reigns fan, which is why I couldn’t help but think of Good Bubba KawadaSmile while I watched it.
  21. I agree. A lot of the territories were consistently drawing big houses every single week. I really believe the whole myth that wrestling didn’t consistently draw big crowds or TV ratings until the 80’s was just rewritten history from Vince and the WWF.
  22. As a Torontonian, I am glad Copeland and Christian got to do this match in Toronto. I bet it means a lot to them.
  23. And to the surprise of no one, Booker admitted today that he made the whole thing up for fun, and to “entertain” people. He then chastised people for falling for clickbait. Yeeeaaahhh.
  24. Especially since by all accounts, Punk has been pretty much drama free and hanging out in NXT trying to help out while he’s rehabbing his injury. The last thing anybody needs is Booker starting shit with another one of his pointless worked shoot works.
