  1. They just uploaded 3 matches today, the whole 3 match series between Butch Reed vs. Jim Neidhart from Houston that followed their breakup as a tag team.
  2. Ohhh so many good uses for this...
  3. 5 years is an eternity in wrestling now with guys being so over exposed. That isn't that many turns especially when you factor in that The Shield's face turn was pretty organic and not one of those forced Luger/Big Show type turns.
  4. If everyone's criticism was as brutally funny as Johnny Sorrow's I wouldn't mind how negative a lot of wrestling fans seem to be. I don't even feel comfortable quoting what he said about the Roddy promo.
  5. Yea I don't know exactly what El-P's post is referring to. Is it talking about tag matches? Booking? The "walk and talk" Memphis style of limited guys stalling and not doing much? There is a lot of things that could fit under the umbrella of "Southern style" although I don't really see anyone holding it up as a great standard anywhere other than maybe tag matches.
  6. I watched the Tom Lintz vs. Terry Taylor match. Super short squash but short matches & Terry Taylor are a good combination. Still surprised that a guy as big and expressive as Lintz never really got a push anywhere outside of Southeastern/Continental.

    Your Top 5s

You've outed the secret identity of Lord Parv Alfred Hayes! At least now other people will understand Lord Alfred's penchant for "experienced" wrestlers Glad to see you're digging Southwest so much. As the writer of those two big Killer Khan main events I may have set the bar so high it's gonna be tough for me to beat those. I liked the Sweetan match more just because I was really feeling it as I was writing it with the way it was set up with the sign on the stretcher and the Death Rides a Horse song that I listened on repeat while writing it. Promotions: 1. ICW - Just loving the Fortunate Sons stuff so much and hope we get some more shows from Flyin Brian soon 2. Southeastern - Super authentic feeling Southeastern stuff. Things are really picking up now with the Fullers and Jimmy Golden all on the same page. 3. AWA - This promotion has been picking up steam the past few weeks. I like the stuff with Robley's Army, The Road Warriors and Hogan being true to his AWA character. 4. Georgia - I'm still sour about the Brody/Koko match but I've liked everything else. Lots of talent coming in and out keeping things fresh. 5. New Japan - Surprising that this would be on my list since I'm not really a fan of Japanese wrestling but I really liked the stuff with Tiger Mask and Dick Murdoch/Abby Faces: 1. Hulk Hogan - Bloody brawler Hogan is the best Hogan. 2. Ron Garvin - I've really been digging his stuff against Adrian Street and being a bully to Cornette 3. Butch Reed - I'm a big time Butch Reed mark and I like how strong he's been booked so far 4. Tito Santana - I like how he's been built up as the TV Champ so far. 5. Ricky Steamboat - Strong work building him up to (most likely) eventually take the World Title from Bock. Heels: 1. Mike Graham and The Fortunate Sons - Mike Graham is a very unlikable person and I love how he's being used in ICW. 2. Bad News Allen - Jesse has built him up super strong. Never a big fan of him in real life but he's been great to read in WCCW. 3. The Wild Bills - I like these two big brawlers not really caring about winning matches and just wanting to beat on people with their bullropes 4. Nick Bockwinkel/Bobby Heenan - The weak challengers stuff has been fun and the title win was a huge shock to me 5. Tongans - Lots of crazy stuff from these unruly monsters with Lou Albano doing all the talking. *Honorable mention to Timothy Flowers and his manservant Pablo Feuds: 1. Randy Savage vs. The Fortunate Sons 2. Jake Roberts vs. The Gentleman's Club 3. Road Warriors vs. The World 4. Dutch Mantel vs. Bob Armstrong/Armstrong family 5. Rougeaus vs. Midnight Express *Honorable mentions to both the Jack Brisco/Dory feud and the Bobby Colt/Chavo Guerrero feuds from WWA.
  8. I think this is up to date now with where things stand with the September draft. If I missed any trade deals (that have actually taken place, not ones that will in the future) let me know.
  9. The whole idea behind building Killer Khan up to be such a monster was to give Duggan an immediate impact by being the guy who could slay the dragon that no one else could. Now I have Duggan as a top guy and everyone on the roster is fresh for him as an opponent. Ideally I would have liked to stretch out Khan/Duggan another week but Khan left for Japan like 2 days too early for me to be able to use him on this HemisFair show.
  10. Car trouble. I love it. I have Tommy's other wrestling cousin available if you ever need a 6 man tag Good stuff at the end with Dutch & Scott Armstrong.
  11. There was so little on youtube the last time I looked for matches that you could probably get a good sense of how you feel about them from the 4-5 matches I saw on there. The match with The Bullet & Adrian Street is a must though.

    NXT TakeOver Brooklyn

It needed something like this to go with it
  13. Planting stories about Braun Stroman being Vince's new favorite and souring on the idea of making a Samoan his next top guy wouldn't be the worst way to go. Add in Dylan's theory that someone (Kevin Dunn) put out a political hit on him because he's an NXT product and you've really got something.
  14. I think Rusev will be fine. For as much hate as people have spewed about them "ruining" him, evolving his character past "generic foreign heel monster" has been good for him and he's shown that he can carry segments with his charisma and mic work. The biggest problem in his current stuff is that Lana is an awful babyface and Ziggler is...well he's Ziggler.
  15. Not animated but this picture of The Great Mephisto is so bad ass.
  16. I definitely was thinking of Dylan when I made that post
  17. I think you definitely have something there Loss. I think they have gone too far to try and disprove the "Roman Reigns is green and can't work!" crowd and that's why we have him wrestling the way he is now. I just think there are people who have made up their mind they are going to hate him regardless of what he does in the ring and you aren't going to get them back with Reigns putting on good matches OR by dominating people (as a babyface). Those people would immediately be Reigns fans if he turned heel though so as much as I personally don't want him to turn I almost think it might be the best thing for him long term. Let him have a Brock like run of destroying people as a heel and I think he might eventually organically be turned back babyface.
  18. Super under rated and they'll wind up on the bottom part of my list somewhere. Just too much good stuff in Southeastern & Continental to be dismissed. Some fun stuff against The Rich Cousins as heels, some real wars with The New Guinea Headhunters as babyfaces, then some stuff with The Nightmares that I desperately wish we had a full accounting of because what is there is really good.
  19. I don't mind nominating some questionable teams like this but I feel like you should at least make a post on why you think they deserve consideration if you do it. I can't see any argument at all for these guys. Their run was super short and I don't think they have any real high end matches to point to that other short lived teams like The Enforcers or Rude & Fernandez do.
  20. This made me laugh. Pretty much the easiest way to get certain segments of the crowd behind a guy is for there to be stories about how the company is holding them down. Look at how over Ziggler is despite not being very good at anything except being a Billy Gunn tribute act.

    ROH vs. NXT

I figured the Matt Hardy matches were probably pretty good but I never did go out of my way to see them. I can understand not really getting behind Matt as a top babyface to take the World Title in 2015 though. The thing about EC3 is he's so good at everything but what happens in the ring that you almost have to stick him with a strong veteran like Matt Hardy to get a good match out of him.

    ROH vs. NXT

Galloway is really good but I never saw him as a babyface. I haven't seen his work in TNA but I suspect it's more of an issue of him being in the wrong role instead of not being good.
  23. Don't be hating on my Southwest roster member Tom "Bommer Lynch" Lintz like that. As far as I can recall yesterday was also the first day they didn't have a new match uploaded. I can't get too upset especially when there were 2-3 a day for a short while there. I'm more disappointed about 2 Terry Taylor (yuck) matches in a row more than a match with Tom Lintz.
  24. Southwest Championship Wrestling @ San Antonio, TX - The HemisFair Arena 8/28/83 The Assassins vs. Jimmy Doo & Masked Wildfire - The Assassins totally dominated this match and beat on Jimmy Doo & The Masked Wildfire for way longer than they was necessary to secure a win. Assassin #1 hit multiple running elbow drops on Jimmy Doo until the referee finally called off the match with Doo not moving at all after the first and Assassin #1 not making any attempt to pin him. Winners: The Assassins in 5:42 by referee stoppage Eddy Mansfield vs. Roy Lee Welch - Roy Lee Welch started off this match fired up and Eddy Mansfield tried to break his rhythm by stalling and going outside of the ring when Welch started to charge after him. Mansfield kept sliding back under the rope to break the count and finally Roy Lee Welch had enough and went out of the ring and chased Manfield around the ring! Mansfield quickly slid back into the ring and started to stomp on Welch as he tried to slide in after him. Mansfield kicked and pounded on Welch as he tried to get back to his feet and then whipped him into the ropes but Welch ducked a Mansfield clothesline and came back with a big right hand that put Mansfield on his ass and got the crowd fired up! Roy Lee Welch tries to quickly put the Spinning Toe Hold on Mansfield but Mansfield kicked him off and rolled back out of the ring. Welch followed him out again and this time he was able to grab Mansfield by the leg as he tried to slide back into the ring and pull him back out again! Welch started unloading with right hands on Mansfield and slammed his head on the ring apron. Welch then climbed back up on the apron and started to get back in the ring but Mansfield pulled him back down and started hammering Roy with right hands of his own. The referee reached the count of 10 and declared the match a double countout with both men still fighting outside the ring. Result: Double countout at 6:01 Mike Masters & Tiny Anderson vs. Steve Pardee & Mike Jackson - Tiny Anderson started the match and got out wrestled by both Pardee & Mike Jackson. Pardee finally allowed Anderson into his corner to make a tag and called in Mike Masters. Masters & Pardee had a back and forth battle for a few minutes until Pardee got caught in the Full Nelson and submitted. Winners: Mike Masters & Tiny Anderson in 8:44 If Eddie Gilbert loses he has vowed to leave the area: Eddie Gilbert vs. Charlie Cook - Charlie Cook dominated this match and kept pulling Gilbert's shoulders up off the mat despite being able to pin him on numerous occasions. Ken Lucas came limping out from the locker room and down to ringside. Lucas begged Cook to stop beating on Gilbert and while Charlie Cook was distracted by arguing with Lucas, Gilbert came up behind him and rolled him up for shocking upset! Ken Lucas quickly grabbed Gilbert and pulled him out of the ring and helped him back to the locker room as Charlie Cook argued with the referee. Winner: Eddie Gilbert in 9:07 after a roll-up Loser barred from Texas for 1 year, one Arm Tied Behind Duggan's back: Jim Duggan vs. Sheik Adnan Al-Kaissie - While the referee was tying Duggan's arm behind his back, Sheik Adnan went to the ring announcer and showed him a piece of paper. The ring announcer then announced that per the stipulations of the contract, this match will be No Disqualification! Duggan looks up in surprise and Shiek Adnan quickly throws powder into his eyes! Duggan starts swinging around blindly as the referee can't do anything about it! Adnan goes around behind Duggan, who is swinging wildly in front of him, and blasts him with a rabbit punch that sends Duggan down to one knee. Adnan then boots Duggan right in the face which puts the big 'Hacksaw' on his back and then starts putting his pointy boots to him! Sheik Adnan put his Sleeper on Duggan while he was down on the mat and Duggan looked to be going out but when the ref checked his arm, Duggan was able to keep it up on the 3rd try! Duggan started making his way back up to his feet when Adnan hit him with a low blow! Duggan went back down to the mat as Adnan maintained control with his sleeper. Duggan again kept his arm up on the 3rd try and this time broke out of the Sleeper by punching his way out! Duggan got fired up and Adnan tried to beg off and then sneak a kick into Duggan's stomach but Duggan grabbed Adnan's foot and pulled his boot off! Adnan fell down and when he got back up Duggan blasted him in the head with the pointy end of his own boot! Adnan went down again and when he got back up he was immediately met with a big Spear from Jim Duggan! Duggan quickly covered him and referee Jack Howe made the count of 3! Winner: Jim Duggan in 9:12 after a Spear Mil Mascaras vs. Jose Lothario - Mil Mascaras controlled most of this match by keeping Jose grounded on the mat and working him over with holds. When Jose would try and throw a punch at Mascaras, he would either duck it and go behind him or grab his arm and arm drag him down to the mat. Finally after about 10 minutes of action, a masked man ran into the ring and attacked Mil Mascaras! Winner by DQ: Mil Mascaras in 10:30 after interference from an unknown masked man The masked man beat on Mascaras for a bit until Mascaras made a comeback on his own and started firing back at the masked man! Mil grabbed him and put him in a headlock and started to try and take off his mask but suddenly Jose got back up and blasted Mil with a huge uppercut! Jose & the masked man starting putting the boots to Mascaras until Mil started to make a comeback which sent Jose & his unknown ally scurrying out of the ring! AWA World Tag Team Titles:The Fabulous Ones vs. The Wild Bills w/Buck Robley © - This was a wild brawl from the get go and the referee gave it a lot of leeway to keep from throwing out a World Tag Team Title match. All 4 men were in ring on numerous occasions. After a long fight The Fabs looked to gain control and after being on top for a bit, Lane tagged out to Steve Keirn. Lane whipped Bill Irwin into the ropes and Keirn looked to come off from the other side with a Flying Forearm but Buck Robley hit Keirn in the back with his cast, unseen by the referee, and then Bill Irwin followed up with a big lariat and pinned Keirn while Stan Lane went outside of the ring after Robley. Winners and still AWA World Tag Team Champions: The Wild Bills in 14:52 After the match The Wild Bills & Buck Robley beat on The Fabs with their bullropes until Jim Duggan ran out with a chair and cleared the ring! *This card was a bit of a rush job and I'm not in love with it but I guess they all can't have page long main events.

    MNM

I have liked every MNM match that I can recall so I will definitely be watching some more of them as I put together my ballot. They could definitely fit somewhere on the bottom of my list, they were together long enough and have enough high end matches to probably make the cut.
