Draft discussion, analysis and trash talk

I should have looked for some results first. I just knew they weren't listed as a tag on the Southeastern roster because Robert was down at the bottom on the injured list. -

For those wondering "what can Eric Embry do in 1983??" Any time that Dylan wants to send Eric Embry for an appearance on Southwest Championship Wrestling's nationally televised program, airing at 11:00 AM Sunday mornings on the USA Network, to avenge this horrible atrocity he suffered at the hands of Tully Blanchard, we would be happy to feature him! -

Puerto Rico & Montreal are supposed to have close ties so maybe you guys can work something out. I'm sure Slaughter in Montreal could make some money. -

I don't know if he had done anything in Montreal by July 1983 but King Tonga was a fucking stud there in 84 & 85. -
I don't think he should get to re-pick if they weren't teaming at the time, he should just get Robert with that pick in the 4th round and gets his 5th to do what he wants with. KrisZ already said it's ok though.

I'm fine with it too, I was mostly looking for clarification whether they were actually teaming at the time or feuding. In Southeastern it can get difficult to keep track as I know for sure they feuded at least once because I watched this segment about 10 times on youtube where Jimmy Golden says Robert Fuller sat at home and got fat eating donuts and drinking beer and that's why he ain't a rassler no more: -
Let's use the other thread until dawho makes his pick please.

The problem with Robert is that he would work a little then take a shitload of time off and he did that throughout 1983-June 1985. I don't think there is any reason we need to follow that in this game. It's not Terry Funk or Gino taking a whole entire year off at a time or someone dying. I think we should have a hard rule about not being able to change picks though. -
Can we get a ruling on Boon taking Jimmy Golden & Robert Fuller together? They were a real on again off again team and I know Robert Fuller was listed as injured also. If they were teaming at the time of Robert's injury I think it should be allowed though.

Wahoo could still go in 1983. Koloff could still go too but he was starting to show his age by then. I don't know that Wahoo really was yet. -

Who are you to doubt Joe Lightfoot? -

Grimmas you barely got Wahoo because that was who I was going to go with when I didn't think I could get Duggan. -

I just thought you were going for the Mid-South All Stars roster after having DiBiase, JYD & Dick Murdoch. Without Butch Reed or the RNR I figured if that WAS your strategy then Duggan was the next logical choice. -

I think that I am thrilled you took Muraco and not Jim Duggan who I just KNEW was your next pick. -

I may just go without one since I don't expect the one I want to last now. -
Can this be updated to show what managers have been taken?

I'm just saying that the way you are looking at it isn't the way everyone is looking at it. Some people are looking at it strictly from a July, 1983 standpoint. -

Well to be fair Cross Face your pick is a giant reach. The Road Warriors had been on TV for less than a month. If we're supposed to be thinking in July 1983 terms no one would have ever taken The Roadies that high but The Fabs were one of the hottest tag teams in the country. -

There is a very select few picks that I can think might fit this bill specifcially Tommy Rich, Pedro Morales & Jacques Rougeau. But Southeastern was never a big name territory. Tommy Rich kind of was their "name" guy because Armstrong & Fuller didn't mean much outside of their home base. And I can see dawho just wanting to make sure he had the two Rougeaus locked up. I think El Boricua has a clear idea of what he wants to do with WWC which obviously has a heavy emphasis on Pedro Morales. But like you said, Backlund also kind of fits in this category also. You valued him higher than everyone else due to your region and wanting him to drop the WWF Title. -

There's also the "fantasy" nature where you ignore that there's only so much money to pay top guys, especially in a place like Portland or Southwest where the market is small. Don Owen isn't breaking the bank to bring in top names. Joe Blanchard couldn't even afford the $7000 a week payment to stay on USA. -

I've come to the point of making a list that's as long as the gap between my picks so I will be less frustrated when someone I want is taken "well I still got these next 6 options even if I lost 4 that I really wanted" -

From your perceived point of view. Yet almost no one who has been picked hasn't gotten a response of "damn I was hoping to get them" even Eric Embry or The Fabs if you're looking at me. Some people just respect the traditions of the wrestling business and have no greater aspirations than to have a great talent roster for their area. Not everyone is looking at maps... -

We all know you think if someone can't be a national star then they aren't important. You don't have to tell us Eric Embry's name for us to know what you're about. As an aside, I think Eric Embry has plenty of national star potential and would love to feature him any time that Portland would like on Southwest Championship Wrestling's nationally televised cable show airing on the USA Network at 11 A.M Sunday mornings! -

Fuck off. You couldn't honestly have expected Duggan to slide to near the end of the 4th round. He's fresh off his babyface turn and was getting hot at this period. I do however completely understand the sentiment and it's exactly what I felt when Tito went before my 3rd round pick. So if you're mad about not getting Duggan, pretty much blame WCCW.
