One possible good thing coming from the idea of doing PPVs on the Network is it would seemingly make them go back to strictly 12 PPVs a year. I would assume they wouldn't want to schedule a month where you could get 2 PPVs for the cost of 1 monthly subscription.
-
That's kind of the only way the WWE Network idea works in my opinion. I think that PPV itself is kind of dying off and that if they were able to market it well enough, they could do better business by having the PPVs on WWE Network than what they're doing on PPV now. It would also give them more flexibility in scheduling PPVs, not having to worry about doing a show the night after a big boxing or UFC fight since their shows would essentially be sold monthly and not just on the night of the show.

I find it somewhat surprising he would say that about Batista, just because he had a big part in training him and was a guy that was hyping him as a "future WrestleMania main eventer" before he ever got to the main roster. Maybe he didn't like Batista saying that his OVW training sucked since they only taught him how to wrestle as a monster and not have real matches.

The thing about the WWE Network that I don't get is that as far as offering a premium channel, they have kinda been doing that for years. Even though WWE Classics on Demand is a limited selection, I can't imagine the subscriber base being much higher for a whole channel like HBO or Showtime. Back when I was getting it in 2007-2008 they also showed PPVs but it was on a 3 month delay.

I'm pretty sure them being down on Bryan comes more from bad buyrates than weak ratings. But I'll be surprised if Survivor Series doesn't do worse than the last 3 Bryan main evented PPVs. I think Orton vs Show is going to bomb because the undercard is definitely not strong enough to prop it up.

OUCH!! Which moves make you cringe when you see them?

Turnbuckle Powerbombs look super hurty to me. -
Just as a personal opinion, do YOU feel like everyone that should be in the WON HOF based on "workrate alone" is already in?
-
Maybe it was just me but Tyson Kidd certainly looked to have "enhanced" his look since he's been gone. And not just the hair.

I really haven't done a lot of digging into this stuff yet, but I noticed someone was uploading packs of rare newsletters on XWT-Classics and download them. Looking at some Main Event Wrestling Newsletters from 1978 and there are definitely some people here that would be interested in this stuff. Lots of cool clippings of match cards and results.

I'm going to buy TNA and my booking strategy is to offer a weekly reward of $500 for the best fan submitted fantasy booking of that week's episode of iMPACT.

Still hoping you'll do a "when WCW was good" project of either 97-99 WCW or 86-87 JCP.
-
Take a bow and soak in your much deserved Internet awe.
-
If they HAD bought out all the Time Warner contracts for the big names like Hogan, Nash, Goldberg etc it DEFINITELY would have cost more than the WCW sale. I think that was only like $3 million. Buying out the contracts would have been somewhere between $10-20 million I would guess.

It's almost like they scoured the internet for the worst fantasy booked episode of Raw they could find, they even hit the meme of changing Kane's mask. Following that thinking, The Wyatts will be revealed as Vince's pets, Vince will be the devil who made them do it and we'll have The Wyatt Family for Vince vs The Shield for HHH.
-
I think anything that involves Shawn wrestling again is pure fantasy booking. I fully believe he is done and won't wrestle again.

If you are looking for something to watch after the Death of WCW, you should go back and watch 85/86 JCP. The formation of The Four Horsemen, the Paul Jones/Jimmy Valiant war, Magnum T.A. vs. Nikita, Dusty vs. Flair is all better than The Fingerpoke of Doom, The Burial of Goldberg or Vince Russo & David Arquette as World Champions.
-
I like him too, but agree with Bix. And he's a guy you almost never hear anyone talk about. I'm not even sure Nick Patrick mentions him at all in his shoot, although I might just not remember it.

So apparently TNA is trying to get back into Universal Studios for some tapings. Is a return to the Impact Zone pretty much the final confirmation that TNA is really never going to get any bigger? I mean there's always been the carrot to dangle there for TNA: if they can just get on TV, if they can just get another hour, if they can just get on prime time, if they just bring in __ (Sting, Kurt Angle, Jeff Hardy, Hulk Hogan, Eric Bischoff, etc etc), if they just go live head to head with Raw, if they just get out of the Impact Zone. What carrot is left to dangle? I guess there's the Jim Ross fantasy which will play out forever because he's way too smart to go there, but after that there is really no "next big idea" for TNA. The company just is what it is.

Vince totally should have called it the Kiss My Keester Club
-
That's because TNA is the ultimate "what-if" fantasy booking playground.

If anyone is going to subject themselves to the torture of going through TNA, at least don't waste any money on it. As far as a few months ago when I most recently looked, the weekly PPVs and most of the monthlys are still available in the normal places. Might be a bit more difficult to get full year runs of iMPACT though I am not sure.

El-P, I know you are down on Booker T and I agree with a lot of criticisms, but who else do you think should have been in that spot of "top babyface who isn't Goldberg"?
-
Not to mention they just did Santino/Fandango a few weeks ago with the same exact distraction finish. This one wasn't even as good since it didn't include Santino waving the Cobra at Summer Rae like it was his dick while making funny noises.

Ask him if there is a guy that he feels like he personally dropped the ball on. Someone he felt had the talent and ability to be a player but for whatever reason he never got around to giving them a push.
-
Whatever other motivations were behind it, it's actually not a stupid training technique. Working that kind of gimmick would seem to assure more fans thinking they are tougher than the guy working as a transvestite and thus want to challenge him.
