  1. I think it's telling with RoH at least that they seem to come out of almost every show with a supposed ***** or **** match yet that match is completely forgotten by the end of the next show when the next ***** or **** match pops up. I guess it wasn't a ***** match if it's so easily forgotten. It's interesting to see a person's bias through their star ratings though. I notice Shanw Michaels has always gotten some really generous ratings from people and the HHH/HBK program has to be the most overrated program star wise.
  2. My problem with star ratings is that people throw ***** around like it's going out of style. I'm sorry but ***** should almost never be used for a match. I don't think I've even seen 10 matches that I would give that rating to. And the benefit of star ratings is that it's easier to make your opinion of a match known. If I come in and say something was ***1/2 you would have a pretty good understanding of what I thought of said match. Just writing about a match might not have the same impact. Though I think rating it out of 10 or using a school style grading system would work equally as well.
  3. It's hard for me to legitimize that viewpoint when last year he was largely responsible for the best match I've seen in about 8 years, and involved in another that was probably top 5 in that same timespan. Not to mention another match in that group, from 2004. By my count, he's been involved in no less than 8 ****+ matches in the past 2 years (including the 2 best matches from 2005), many of which he played large parts in. He's in some good matches but there's always a knee jerk overrating of what he does. Tons of people claim ***** for Kobashi/Joe and it's nowhere near that. It's because it was Kobashi in the U.S. Now I will admit he got a little better without the GHC Title but I still think he's overrated.
  4. I don't think he's that good now and I think he just gets a pass due to nostalgia and the fact that he's older. If he was a lot younger and performing like he is now then I think he would be getting shit on by everyone. That's just my opinion though.
  5. Hasn't he been winning wrestler of the year for like the last couple of years? I would say it's popular opinion to say he's still good.
  6. Yeah, don't you know they'll just be dead in 3 months... and if they're still around by then they'll just be dead in 3 months.
  7. Hogan wasn't on tv all the time either. It was an event for him to show up. HHH in 2002 alone was probably on tv more than Hogan was during his entire first reign as champion.
  8. I don't buy that. Hogan was the biggest star in North America at one point so you can't really compare him to HHH.
  9. I think he's terrible. I've noticed personally that matches seem to come to a crashing halt whenever he's on offense. He doesn't do anything that stands out move wise and he honestly seems lost a lot of the time. Then things tend to pick up when the other wrestler goes back on offense. I wouldn't be bothered by him in the ring but he insists on going at least 20 minutes whenever he's in the ring no matter what. Even if his opponent is a slug like Batista he still has to go over 20 minutes. And it annoys me even more when the matches I actually want to see have to rush through a 9 minute match because the son in law needs his 10 minute entrance and 20 minute match.
  10. The thing that really burns me about the HHH push is that if you had put even just 1/10th of that effort into Booker T or Chris Jericho you would've seen a much bigger return than anything HHH has given you.
  11. It just bugs me with HHH. They've just had it so drilled into their heads that he's the best. It just saddens me that I actually have to argue with people that Dustin Rhodes was a superior worker to HHH. Jeff Jarrett is a better wrestler too. He can go out there and put on a good match with almost anyone and HHH can't.
  12. I'm really surprised he lasted as long as he did.
  13. I don't think they're real Philly mutants. I think at least half are just trying to be cool because a lot are probably too young to have had access to it.
  14. That Nitro/Haas match just reminded me of how awesome a feud between MNM and Haas/Holly was shaping up to be last summer. I really was enjoying both teams at the time.
  15. 3 weeks over a 1.0 for them. Hopefully that 2.1 in the 25-34 demo will get them a second hour in the future. I think these King of the Mountain Qualifiers are to thank for the ratings. It'll be really interesting to see what Sting/Steiner gets next week.
  16. So TNA pulled in a 2.1 in the 25-34 male demographic this week. That's just amazing for them considering they only got a 1.06 rating overall.
  17. Batista was just booked better. Cena was pretty much in the exact same angle for 6 months in a row. I could tune into any episode of Raw at 11 and see the exact same angle play out. That and Cena looks like a moron as champ and they constantly make his heel challengers look cooler and like they have more heart than Cena does.
  18. Why would you side with either? They were both acting like children.
  19. What a couple of bitches. I seriously don't know what to say. I feel like I'm in a playground with a bunch of 1st graders when I read all this stuff.
  20. Chris Benoit's character during his whole run has been that he's a killer in the ring. And he's stuck to that. Face or heel it's still been about stepping in the ring and destroying whoever comes up against him. Samoa Joe is playing essentially the same character in TNA. Plenty of people have played a similar persona over the years and never were considered to be lacking in character. In this day and age you have to be a pedophile or a pimp or an evil dentist or whatever to be considered having character in wrestling.
  21. I'd actually argue that Benoit has a very well defined character. It's just not beating you over the head constantly like the other WWF personalities do. It doesn't stand out but his character is probably the most consistent and logical one on the roster. He never acts out of character which is a rarity in the WWF these days. He does have charisma though as crowds are always into his matches and tend to get more into them the longer time goes. Now as far as today I think he's lost a couple of steps in the ring. I don't get nearly as excited for his matches as I used to but then I'm that way with everything WWF related.
  22. Just go to last week's Impact thread. It's pretty funny. People who say anything positive are getting branded as TNA shills or accused of working for TNA.
  23. I like how DVDVR is trying to ban everyone that has something positive to say about TNA now.
  24. It was all downhill after her breast implants. Maybe he's been secretly pumping her full of steroids at night. She was definately getting manly during her run as the Smackdown GM.
  25. I may be insane and remembering wrong but weren't some of his matches with Rikishi in 2000 over the I.C. title really good?
