Wrestling thoughts that probably don't deserve
Mad Dog replied to Coffey's topic in NMB Wrestling Archive
So I was watching Impact and I have to admit. I find the Konnan/Armstrong thing to be odd. Bob Armstrong is being built up as the underdog but after seeing him on Impact he really looks like he could take Konnan in a legit fight. -
It's a problem of their own creation. They make the heels so much cooler and much easier to get behind.

And let's be honest. He wasn't that good for his one date with TNA and he was pretty out of shape. They booted Sean Waltman under similiar reasons and he's a much bigger name than Kanyon. Besides he sounds like a tool when Pat Patterson is openly gay and well respected in the business. Kanyon reminds me of those girls in high school that would say they were going to kill themselves just to get attention.

Yeah but they weren't related to a legend. While Snuka wasn't that great in the ring either, Jr. would never get over being compared to his old man. He doesn't have the charisma and he doesn't even have the skills of his old man. -
I happened by his myspace page a few days ago and the main picture is him holding some sign that mentions him being gay. I think about 3/4 of his blog entries were also tied into him being gay. Though I don't buy it for a second. I think this is just some cheap ploy to try and spark enough talk about him to get him hired by WWF or TNA.

Is he still going on about this?

Snuka Jr. (Duece) is going to be the next OVW disaster. -

Yeah, it took me a really long time too. The having to pin both of the non-captains to win a fall really threw me for a solid six months or so. I remember it was one of my first discoveries when I got Dish Network in 1998. Glad to see you're enjoying it though. CMLL has probably been the best promotion in the world for the last year and half. -

Loss, I was curious. You were singing the praises of CMLL and lucha in general in the MOTY 2005 thread. I remember a few months ago you had made a post where you seemed more disinterested in it. So what changed? -
I thought he sucked as a worker but then 90% of the guys on Raw are just as bad. Snitsky having a job makes it impossible for me to take the WWF seriously anymore. I would say he's been the worst hire of this decade but then they did hire Nathan Jones and Kronik.

So Misterio is supposed to be defending the belt against Orton on Smackdown. I wonder if they do the lame heel wins right after the event kind of thing.

I never thought CMLL could replace Super Porky. But Maximo has really filled that, so terrible that they're entertaining role. -
Good to see HHH fucking everyone over as usual so he can have his 30 minute matches.
-
I don't remember the injury but when they replaced him with A-1 they mentioned something about a year's worth of rehab for him.
-
Yeah, looking at that list it's most likely title changes. Though I don't know how MNM's win would be on there.
-
Hogan/Andre should be No.1 on that list. It's probably still the biggest moment the WWF has ever had.
-
He was on an open contract. So they technically didn't release him, they just stopped hiring him for dates.
-
I'm going to be dead honest here. I never heard anything I'd call a good reaction to him during that time. It seemed he was almost always coming out to crickets chirping.
-
WM lineup: weak, doesn't feel like WM at all. Fit Finely: one of the few things that the WWF has done right recently. RoH vs. CZW: I can't even begin to describe how utterly lame I find this feud to be.
-
I find that I don't care. I don't want to see most of the CZW talent anywhere near a ring. The messageboard stuff is just silly and unbelievable. Plus Cornette cutting promos is a bad idea because neither promotion has anyone that can go toe to toe with him in that area. So you're just asking for your wrestlers to get verbally punked out my a manager no matter how you plan for the segment.

Ultimately it comes down to not like the WWF way of doing things. Old school fans never liked the cartoonish nature of the WWF and hated the punchy style of match. It doesn't help that wrestling is an afterthought in the current WWF. Old timers want wrestling. The WWF doesn't do wrestling anymore. I honestly want to vomit everytime they say "sports entertainment" instead of wrestling on the shows. I'm sure that it's not exclusive to just me. -

Most old timers never bought into Vince's vision of wrestling and so quit watching when the alternatives ran out. Plus necrophilia and a lot of the WWF's recent antics are completely different. -

Go watch his first round match with Shinya Hashimoto from the 95 G-1 Climax tournament. His no selling is horrible in that match. -

Scott Norton is lazy for the most part. I'll point you at his 95 match against Hashimoto. He lost that match but he so no sold Hashimoto that it was a giant "wtf" moment at the end. It was also the first Hashimoto match I saw so it took me awhile to take him seriously after that. Norton's match against Nagata at the Big Wednesday PPV is probably the best match I've seen him in.
