Wrestling thoughts that probably don't deserve
Mad Dog replied to Coffey's topic in NMB Wrestling Archive
When they were trying to get a push in TNA someone had commented after their 2 wins that they were bland looking so he started wearing that to stand out more. -
The Return of Saturday Night's Main Event to NBC
Mad Dog replied to a topic in NMB Wrestling Archive
All old wrestling shows did that. You'd have the main event in the middle so it had all the time it needed and then a handful of standby matches to use up whatever was left. Hogan seemed to always bring his working boots whenever it was a SNME. -
He could probably make more on the indies if he works TNA and makes a couple of trips to Japan for one of the bigger companies.

Making Scott Steiner work a long match with HHH at the Royal Rumble in 2003. About every HHH promo over the last 4 years has mentioned the weakness of another worker. Having Goldberg go long and sell for the Rock at Backlash 2003 Having Brock Lesnar and John Cena going really long on PPV in 2003 despite how inexperienced both were. A lot of Shawn Michaels comments towards Hulk Hogan. Having Goldberg doing comedy skits and talking a lot during his entire run. Fertig debuting as a singles wrestler after having spent most of his OVW time as a tag team wrestler. Not letting the Heart Throbs talk. Rob Van Dam's title match with HHH in 2002. Encouraging fans to chant boring at Lance Storm. That's just off the top of my head.

I thought the Mark Henry stuff was an attempt to make him quit so they wouldn't have to pay his contract.
-
They seem to like Tomko a lot so I doubt he gets the boot. Scotty II Hotty's survived a lot of these so I doubt he gets released either.

So somewhere between the Invasion angle and the HHH push in 2002?
-
I'm trying to think but I'm drawing a blank. When did it become common practice in the WWF to intentionally expose the weaknesses of their workers?
-
Why even bother with OVW? They develop and pay these guys for years then call them up with a bad gimmick and then release them 4 months later. Why go to all that effort just to make someone fail? I guess this doesn't look good for Ken Doane's future.
-
Aries posted on his website about it and they were in fact 4 hours late while still making the show. So any changed opinions by that fact?
-
Easy. Whoever has the easiest access to a copier would make copies for the others and mail them out.
-
Well MNM lost but the titles weren't on the line.
-
I have no clue. You'd think they'd be all over someone as talented as him but he's sat there while slugs like Masters and the Boogeyman have gotten calls before him. Maybe they haven't thought up the right gimmick to bury him yet.

His Heat match with Val Venis was decent. Probably the best sub 10 minute match I've ever seen Punk in. But then I'm not huge on Punk. He's had too many matches like his one vs. CW Anderson in RoH. I think he needs a superior worker to reign him in for his better matches. Not that that's a bad thing or anything. As far as OVW he's probably the 3rd best worker there. Brent Albright is miles ahead of him and all but the elite of the WWF roster and Ken Doane is marginally better.

The belt usually gets buckled together like it normally does on the actual X. The red X is usually a problem not the belt. I imagine they work it so the buckles are really hard to pull apart.
-
It'd be really sad to see him win a title tonight when he didn't hold one during his big run with the company a decade ago.
-
And companies still work with RF. RoH had originally planned on bringing him back after it died down until they got caught in the act. You're vastly overrating the knowledge of the current IWC. There are posters that know of those events but the vast majority don't. As I've mentioned in here before, one of my last posts at TSM was me in disbelief that only 2 other posters knew who Wendi Ritcher was.

I won't watch as the Orton/Misterio match will probably anger me beyond words if I see it.
-
I was watching a couple of matches of Velocity yesterday and I just couldn't get over the fact that it seems this guy has a fulltime gig now. I really can't think of any positives to hiring the guy. Has the guy even had a really good singles match?

Also the Perverted Justice stings usually never lead to people in jail. It's about publicly embarassing pedophiles into not doing it again.
-
You completely missed the point. There aren't threads calling for their heads because most of the people out there don't even know about those two incidents. You can't go around screaming homophobia at a bunch of people that are only familiar with 1 of the 3 incidents. Also Dan Maff has been essentially blackballed from wrestling on the east coast due to heterosexual activities. So stop playing the homophobia card already. People hate pedophiles. To a lot of people it's the absolute worst thing you can do. Even other prisoners who have done awful things themsevles look down on pedophiles and try to kill them. They usually have to be isolated in prison. And there you have the reason why he takes so much heat for being a pedophile. It has nothing to do with him being gay. It has to do with the fact that he ripped off a ton of people over the years and he's given them a huge reason to rip him apart.
-
Yeah but he lost that fight so I don't know how good it really was. He didn't do anything terribly memorable in TNA. None of his matches were that good and when they were finally going to start pushing the guy he went and started a public brawl with another wrestler on the roster. He can really only blame his TNA run on himself. Only if he knows them really well like Colt Cabana but even then I've never seen him in a good match that's under 15 minutes. I've also seen him in absolute disasters of matches with inferior workers in shorter matches. So far his only good OVW work has all been 20 minutes or so and with the best worker there.
-
In fairness to the WWF on the Punk stuff. He's been absolutely awful in OVW except for a couple of carry jobs by Brent Albright. He also hasn't helped his case with his attitude.
-
And let's be honest. If he got caught like that it probably wasn't the first time he tried it.
